Unable To Access Report Sever Error
Mar 23, 2007
Hi,
We are facing a problem while trying to access the report server. When I try to access reports homepage "http://servername/reports", I get following error "Unable to communicate with report server.
Please verify that the report server is operational."
I have not touched report server config file.
I noticed that the problem can be temporarily fixed, if I disconnect remote connections (mstsc) to above server machine, which are idle for 2-3 days. Then the report server works fine.
But I don't see any link between mstsc connections to server machine and report server problem.
I think, it might be some memory issue, can somebody tell me how to fix this problem ?
I am getting calls from my office in the middle of the night to fix this error..!!!!!
I want permanent solution !
Thanks,
Prashant

Hi Guys,
After installing SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services, I got the following errors:
1. When I tried to open http://localhost/reports/ , I got the following error message
The report server is not responding. Verify that the report server is running and can be accessed from this computer.
2. When I tried to open http://localhost/reportserver/ , I got the following error message
The report server has encountered a configuration error. See the report server log files for more information. (rsServerConfigurationError)
Access to the path 'C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.3Reporting ServicesReportServerRSReportServer.config' is denied.
Is there any clue for this technical problem?
Immediate response is appreciated.

Hello Friends
I'm running VS2005prof.+sp1, SSE Adv (with sp2) SSE ToolKit. Its been running without problems since installation (April 12.2007) Last week I ran into a problem which started off as
"An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file D:DataVBNetVisual Studio 2005ProjectSolutionsAR1403inDebuginDebugApp_DataAR1403.mdf failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share."

Your help is greatly appreciated.

I have a site I created in .Net 2.0 the site is using sql server 2000 on the network. On the development machine the site is working as it should. I have also installed sqlexpress on the web server. I then push the site up to my server and I get the "unable to access sql 2005 pipes error". I installed vs2005 on the web server. when I run the app in vs2005 I don't get any errors and the application comes up. The app's connection string is placed in the web config file. I also changed the sqlexpress for local and remote logins.
What else could be the problem. I have never seen this before. And all the non DB sites work!
Enviroment:
Webserver Windows Server 2003, .Net 2.0 framework, iis6, sqlexpress, vs2005

Hi! When i'm importing into ReportServer report made with Access i've got those errors:
An error occurred while the report Bank Account Transactions By Type was being imported: Item has already been added. Key in dictionary: '[Bank_x0020_Account_x0020_Transactions_x0020_By_x0020_Type].Parameters![trans type]' Key being added: '[Bank_x0020_Account_x0020_Transactions_x0020_By_x0020_Type].Parameters![trans type]'
An error occurred while the report Bills from Purchase Orders by Supplier was being imported: Item has already been added. Key in dictionary: '[Bills_x0020_from_x0020_Purchase_x0020_Orders_x0020_by_x0020_Supplier].Parameters![vendor]' Key being added: '[Bills_x0020_from_x0020_Purchase_x0020_Orders_x0020_by_x0020_Supplier].Parameters![vendor]'
What is the meaning of those errors? I thought it was because ReportServer was trying to add 2 or more parameter with the same Name but for example in my report Bank Account Transactions By Type i only have one textbox that use the name trans type. So is someone have an idea?
Thanks !

I have a problem with the connection to the DB…
I wrote this connection string in the web.config
<add name="dbConnectionString" connectionString="server=(local);database=2C2M;Trusted_connection = True" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/>But then when I creat ( SQLdataSource ) and chose this connection , this message is appeared
DataBase schema could not be retrieved for this connection . Please make sure the connection setting are correct and that the database is online. An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the sever . When connection to SQL Server 2005 , this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default setting SQL Server does not allow remote connections. How I can solve this problem ?

The error is:
Connection failed:
SQL State '37000'
SQL Sever Error: 18452
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Sever Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
I have verified in Enterprise Manager that the concerened login is using a Windows 2000 Authentication and has the correct grant access permissions set up for the default database. Also switching to SQL Server Authentication or disabling security are not the options available in this case.
How to resolve this please-any help is welcome.

I've set up a report server on IIS on my local machine using SSRS 2005. All is well in the world--it shows up, and I can publish reports and have them display successfully.
However, I'm trying to publish a couple of reports based on an Access database--and this is where the problem lies. The reports run perfectly in Visual Studio, which is on the same machine as the report server. Thus, I can deduce that the ODBC connection to the Access database is set up properly. There are no errors on the report, which means that the reports are set up correctly. I've spent the last day researching the problem, but nothing I've tried thus far (from putting the Access database in a shared folder to changing security on the file and report server to rebuilding the reports from scratch) works. The exact error is given below, with the data source name changed:
An error has occurred during report processing.
Cannot create a connection to data source 'MyODBCDataSource.
ERROR [HY024] [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] '(unknown)' is not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides. ERROR [IM006] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed ERROR [HY024] [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] '(unknown)' is not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides.
Can anyone suggest something I missed? I'm stumped on this one.
Edit: Just to clarify, EVERYTHING is on my local machine--the web browser I'm viewing from, IIS, SSRS 2005, the Access database, the ODBC connection (in the System DSN), everything.

This didn't use to happen but now it does.
When I go into Report Manager, http://localhost/reports, and try running a report it is giving me this error message:
The request failed with HTTP status 401: Access Denied
But if I go directly to the Report Server, http://localhost/reportserver, and try running a report there then everything is fine.
Does anyone know why it is doing this all of a sudden? I did change the Reports app in ISS to allow anonymous access but have since changed it back, and it still gives this error.

Hi,
For a long time I've had SQL Server 2000 with RS on a Server2003 machine.
When I want to publish a report from my Dev box, I remove anon. access on the Production machine, deploy the report, then go into report manager to tweak a couple of parameters. I then re-enable anon. access so users can continue.
Yesterday, I removed anon. access and deployed the report but when I went into Report Manager I received the above error message... "The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive."
I can get into report manager with anonymous access enabled, but I don't have authority to do anything.
What's happened!!!? More importantly, how do I fix it?

Hi all,
I encounter a problem of unable to access Remote Server after i placed my web application into the web server.
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.)
So I googled and tried lot of different ways of connecting.By piped name, IP, trying instance which that server don't even have one :X.I also tried typing in cmd > telnet localhost 1433It appeared that the telnet fail, i tried it on other machine, it works. So is it cause by denied of access through that port?I checked at the sql client network, it show 1433, i check the server too, it show 1433.I also checked if there's any firewall, it appear there is no firewall at all.The sql server i trying to connect is SQL 2000, it run by Windows Server 2003
Any advise or more information you needed to help me solve this problem? Thanks

Hi,
I have a SQL Server 2005 Express database dbase.mdf which I cannot access. It works fine in VWD and the development server using the following connection string: String connectionString = "Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|\dbase.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True"But when the site is not on the development server but on IIS, I get a SqlException saying "User does not have permission to perform this action." when I execute the connection.Open() command. I find it extremely frustrating that something which works in the development server fails on the real server. Can anyone help me with this? Do I have to change my connection string, or perhaps set some permissions...I have already given the IUSR_MACHINENAME account and the ASPNET account full access to dbase.mdf. Surely this must be an issue that lots of people deal with... How do other people manage to log to access databases? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks,P1000

Until when the i click second time, only i'm able to acess into it. What happened actually?

Is there any way to get more information for when IAuthorizationExtension::CheckAccess fails to grant access to a report item for the current user? Specifically, it would be useful to know:
1. URL of attempted report
2. IP address of user agent
3. Identity of current user
4. Date/Time of the failed attempt

I have a pretty complicated report (lots of subreports, tables, etc) that can be well over a few hundred pages long. I can generate the report just fine, but I cannot seem to export it to anything other than an html archive. I need to export to PDF. Every time I try to export it get an error that says:
An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details.
I don't get any more information than that. Is there a way that I can figure out what the actual error is, or any other way I can go about troubleshooting this? Thanks.
Jeff
