Unable To Configure Database Setup In Reporting Service 2005

Hi,
I have installed SQL Reporting Service on one server. Using the config tool, I am trying to setup the Reporting Database on a seperate SQL instance. This SQL instance is running on a Clustered SQL 2005 server.
The creation of the Database is sucessful. However when I give the Windows credentials to connect to this database on the same page, I always fail at the following task : Setting Connection Info for Reporting Server. The error message is :

The Windows Account I am using has Full SQL Rights to the Clustered SQL Server. I have seen other posts on the forums about the 0x800706B3 error, but most of them are related to a problem with RPC.
The Reporting Services account is runing under 'Network Services'. I am not sure if this is causing the problem?

I needed to re-install the entire sql server 2005, I used add/remove program. everything went normal, except reporting service. I deleted the entire upper sql server directory, rebooted the box, however, it still shows up in services, even though the path does not exist. I tried to reinstall it again, but it complains about name already exists. I cannot change the name, but I am not able to find how I can remove it and reinstall it properly.

I am using 'SQL Server 2005 Reporting Service' in my project. I am using sub-reports in many cases. Whenever I export such reports containing sub-reports to 'Excel' format which is the major client requirement in our project, the exported excel file shows 'Subreports within table/matrix cells are ignored.'
Can anybody tell me the solution for this? If not possible in reporting service then is there any other way to get data in excel format?
I am setting up a web server and I'm having some issues with database connections. I am running Windows Server 2k3 and SQL Server 2005. The error I get is when I attempt to connect to the database, it's the following: Cannot open database "dbReseacher" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'userRes'. The following is my connection string: <add name="RESEARCHER" connectionString="Data Source={Sql Server}; Server=THRALL2; Database=dbReseacher; Uid=userRes; Pwd=password;"/> In SQL Server Management Studio, the user userRes is listed under Security -> Logins, but it is not listed under Database -> dbResearcher -> Security -> Users. Originally it was listed under both and this didn't solve the problem. Please let me know if you any ideas or questions that I can answer. Thanks a lot. -Richard
I am trying to configure a reporting server on my laptop at work. This laptop is running Vista and IIS 7. When I install reporting services, the option for "Install the default configuration" is disabled (greyed out) during setup. The install is successful, but then when I try to connect in the Reporting Services Configuration Manager, I get an unhandled exception ("A WMI error has occurred an no additional error information is available."). If I continue, this error continues to crop up as I attempt to configure the Report Server. When I attempt to configure the virtual directory, the configuration manager crashes. Then, when I navigate to the reportserver page, I get a page that states: Server Application Unavailable
The web application you are attempting to access on this web server is currently unavailable. Please hit the "Refresh" button in your web browser to retry your request.

Any ideas for a solution or workaround would be greatly appreciated.
I've created a SSIS package with a DataReaderDestination and a SSRS report that points to it.
I referenced these links during development and I have everything working as expected locally. **I changed the config files as stated on both my local machine and our server. My config matches the example exactly.
When I attempt to deploy my report project to the server I get this error message: "An attempt has been made to use a data extension 'SSIS' that is not registered for this report server."
In the report manager data source properties page it reads: "The data processing extension used for this report is not available. It has either been uninstalled, or it is not configured correctly."
In SQL Server Management Studio data source properties page SSIS is not a data source type option.
I've tried restarting both the Reporting Services and Integration Services on the server to no avail.
Any suggests? My problem is I can't get the SSIS to be recognized source on the server.
Hi there, I have a stupid question When I want to configure reporting service in a computer it needs Windows SharePoint Service. But When I installed and configured it in my own PC it asked for database server location instead. Anybody have any idea about this?
When I opened "Reporting Service Configuration Manger" from SQL server configuration tool list, The "Report Server Installation Instance window came out. It showed my local machine name on the field of Machine Name. When I click "Find" button, a message box came out. It says: "No report server were found on the specified machine. I am working with a client who is rolling out 50+ VM's based of a template we created. This is SQL 2012 CU1 running on Windows Server 2008 R2. Using the default service account the installer has it registers fine and we get the following in the SQL log.
The SQL Server Network Interface library successfully registered the Service Principal Name (SPN) [ MSSQLSvc/server.domain.com:1433 ] for the SQL Server service.
When we change to a domain service account through SQL configuration manager we see the following and cannot connect remote using integrated authentication The SQL Server Network Interface library could not register the Service Principal Name (SPN) [ MSSQLSvc/server.domain.com:1433 ] for the SQL Server service. Windows return code: 0x2098, state: 15. Failure to register a SPN might cause integrated authentication to use NTLM instead of Kerberos. This is an informational message. Further action is only required if Kerberos authentication is required by authentication policies and if the SPN has not been manually registered.
My understanding is you should and could change service accounts using the SQL Server Configuration Manager and it would set all permissions. Is there something we need to do in addition to get this up and working?
hi, I have problem initialize report server after upgrade to SP2.. It keep saying Could not locate entry i sysdatabases 'myDatabaseName'. while i'm sure my database existing. Here's the log

Dear All, I am making web application using Asp.net C#(Visual Studio2005). And Sql server 2000 as a back End upgraded with service pack 3 and analysis service. Now I am trying to install sql server 2000 report services. But I run SQL2KRSSP1-ENG.EXE setup Then following error occurs The upgrade patch can not be installed by window installer because the program to be upgraded may be missing , or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch. I got this error message during SQL Server Express install with no error code on Server 2003 SP1. I'm installing on an older development machine and although I do have a very large log file somewhere I wanted to post before I even dug into it. I noticed in IIS under my Webs that the MSSQLExpress webs were there at first but when I clicked on them to get any info or Properties... they dissapeared. So they were almost installed but they no longer exist. Also I do not have a SQL Service Manager icon down near the clock.
I almost took a step to fix this. After reading a few posts about similar problems I thought maybe this happened because the Default Web Sites IP # was not set to (All Unassigned). I was going to try a repair install from Add/Remove Programs but the temporary setup files are already gone. I really dont want to uninstall all 5 SQL components from Add/Remove Programs and start from scratch.
As good security practice we usually remove the Default Web or as in this development servers case we changed the IP from (All Unassigned) to an IP that is only accessible from certain machines on the internal network. I obviously should have read more pre setup guides. Anyway how can I fix this without reinstalling everything?
I'have this error during install of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition (x86). I'm Using Windows XP Professional with SP2 Build 2600. Does anyone knows how to solve this?

Hi, I have a Windows 2008 server 64-bit SP1 and I have installed SQL 2005 SP2 Enterprise Edition 64-bit. My current version is 9.00.3042.00. I am trying to configure Reporting Services and I am having lots of trouble getting the Application Pools to work properly. I have followed the Microsoft Technet paper 839480 "How to Install and Configure Reporting Services on Windows Server 2008". In the "Configure Reporting Services" part, I have successfully configured everything (all arrows are green) and have the following setup:
Report Server Virtual dir: ReportServer Default Web Site Report Manager Virtual dir: Reports Defualt Web Site Windows Service Identity: ReportServer with a service acct login Web Service Identity: Report Server: ReportServer, Report Manager: DefaultAppPool (I get an error when I try to configure it to anything else: ReportServicesConfigUI.WMIProvider.WMIProviderException: An unknown error has occurred in the WMI Provider. Error Code 800708AC at ReportServicesConfigUI.WMIProvider.RSReportServerAdmin.SetWebServiceIdentity(String applicationPool)
The one thing I notice in the SQL Server configuration manager is that there is a red dot next to the SQL Reporting Services services even though the green arrow is there to show it is running.
When I look in IIS7, I see the application pools Reports and ReportServer and they are both in Integrated mode. When I try to go to http://localhost/reportserver, it gives an error. It will work if I change both application pools to classic. But then when I try to go to http://localhost/reports, I get an error:
"REQUEST IS NOT AVAILABLE IN THIS CONTEXT".
I have read up on IIS7 and it says that: "This error is due to a design change in the IIS7 Integrated pipeline that makes the request context unavailable in Application_Start event. When using the Classic mode (the only mode when running on previous versions of IIS), the request context used to be available, even though the Application_Start event has always been intended as a global and request-agnostic event in the application lifetime."
So, how do I configure these application pools to work using IIS7 with SQL 2005 Reporting Services on a Windows 2008 server? I have tried all kinds of different things based on what I am reading on the net and nothing is working. Anybody have any suggestions?
I've a slight problem with configuring my Report Server. I have set up everything apart from the initialisation and and the Windows Service Identity, however when I select the panel for the latter I am presented with a message box displaying the following:

I have tried re-installing the entire SQL server setup and this made no difference, I followed this by removing then reinstalling just the Report Service. Still nothing.
Any ideas as to what it is doing and how I should go about fixing it?
We have vendor that is implementing an employee self serve application for current and potential employees (employment applications). There is a web server in our DMZ that has the application installed but also on the server is a SQL database that has names and social security numbers. This server will also query the backend accounting server for earnings statements and W2s. We have a Cisco ASA as the firewall and SSL to protect client authentication from the Internet. There is no SSL between the web server and the accounting server. The fact that the SQL database on the web server containing SSN associated with names concerns me. It seems that none of this information is masked or encrypted and can be seen if the server was to ever be compromised.
My idea of such a service involves a web server that queries the backend database over SSL and presents the information to the user over SSL. No personally identifiable information would be resident on the web server at all, just a facade. That is not the case and it is not what we described to them as to what we want.
It seems they have installed it the only way they know how which is not secure, or maybe it is, that's why I am here. They have installed this at numerous locations and they actually wanted any and all ports open between the web server and the backend accounting server. It took us a while to get them to follow the rule of least privilege but we essentially had to do it ourselves.
Also on our main webserver for our Internet site I found the test database they used almost 2 years ago to test this application along with names and SSN. This was before I arrived and there is no encryption or authentication for this server. Is this good secure practice? All my training says no but it is hard to believe a mutli-million dollar organization is this ignorant. I guess it shouldn't surprise me, TJX didn't pay attention either.
I saw this thread which provide some good information but I am not a database admin and I am not familiar with SQL services, etc.
My questions are: Is their implementation secure? Does anyone know where I can find more info regarding web services and HIPAA? I read where 2 firewalls are required but would like documentation to show. Any suggestions on how to implement this securely?
I am installing the SQL Server 2005 SP1 "SQLServer2005SP1-KB913090-x86-ENU.exe" on my server and everything successfully installed except the Integration Services. Below is the error I received.
Couple questions I guess. Are others getting the same thing? Is there a way to fix this so it will install like a work around? Last what will this affect by this not installing correctly?
In our project, we would like to use the same data source for our analysis service database cubes and for our reporting service reports.
I created the analysis service project first, deployed successfully. When trying to setting up the data source in the report model project, I selected the "create a data source based on another object", and then selected the "create a data source based on an analysis service project". However, there is no analysis service project to select, and no browse button to see where the reporting service is looking for analysis service project either.
I have tried creating a new analysis service project with data source views, cubes, dimensions and all the stuff, but still cannot see the analysis service project in the drop down box to be selected for my reporting model project data source.
As I am fairly new to the reporting service, I'm sure I'm missing something, but couldn't find much information in the help or on the web. Any suggestion would be much appreciated.

Can anyone help me with a problem I have with SSRS 2005? How do I configure SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services to deliver subscription e-mails to addresses external to my windows domain?
I've been having trouble configuring the Report Server e-mail delivery component to send subscription e-mails to addresses outside the domain on which the report server is hosted.
For e.g. since my local windows domain is named "smartsystems.com", I have found that the Report Manager does not have any problems sending subscription mails to "eawagu@smartsystems.com" but throws up an error whenever I include "eawagu@yahoo.com" in the recipients' list.
i'm using a domain accout to setup a sql 2005 cluster in a win2003 cluster.when the installation ended,the SqlServerAgent service can't be started.the event in event viewer

And i found i can connect to the sql cluster vitrual ip 10.73.2.224,but can't connect to the node A.So i enable all the network protocols for the instance MSSQLSERVER,and also enable every ip in the TCP/IP protocol,then restart the sqlserver service,but it still doesn't work.
I am trying to start ms sql server 2005 express as a network user from originally starting as local system. I cannot start the service.
I have given this network user administrator access to sql express from the sql server surface area configuration "Add New Administrator". I have went into the local users/groups and added this network user to the 3 security groups

I don't recall assigning any sql specific certificates. The reason I'm trying to run this as a network user is because an application on a remote windows server requires it.
After starting the service back running as local system as it was before, I went into the SQL Server Management Studio Express and edited the properties for this new network user I wish to run the service as. I gave him full access including checking all grants in securables.
I now see a bit of a difference in the event logs with these errors.

I saw a notification when changing the sql server service's logon that the new network user has been granted the log on locally right.

I created a CLR procedure with a service reference in Visual Studio 2010 that is being used in SQL Server 2008 R2. We recently tried to deploy it to a 2012 SQL Server, but were unable to due to compatibility issues. When I tried to upgrade the package to Visual Studio 2013 I got this error message:

The OWC11 setup failure is triggerring SQL DB Service installation to fail as well. Please help!!!
Hi I am trying to install SQL server 7 on XP. I did not install any prerequisite such as service pack 4. During the installation process, I received a error message that says:
'Setup fail to configure the server. Refer to server errorlog and cnfigsvr.out for more information. '
In Errorlog file, the last part of it says:

I'm trying to connect to a database using a service account that we got created. The ID is an AD account and was added to the db as such. When I try to connect to the database using the account with the password I get [login failed for domainid]. The DBA mentioned that its setup to use windows auth, however, I can't connect with this service account using windows Auth, due to I'm using to connect via code.
How can I connect to the database from my code using this ID?
I have the ID and pwd in my code to connect with, does the ID have to be setup differently in the Database?
I have installed SP2 on my SQL 2005 instance which also houses RS of course. Additionally I installed WSS3.0 without configuring it so it has the Object Model installed (should be enough?)
I am running WSS 3.0 on a seperate Server and have the Add-in installed on there.
Following the installation instructions I am going to Application Management to configure WSS, but there is no section called "Reporting Services". Looking on the Report Server, in the Configuration I see the following error under the SharePoint Integration Setting:
The report server cannot access settings in the SharePoint configuration database. Most likely, the Windows SharePoint Services object model is not installed or the Report Server Web Service and Windows service accounts do not have access to SharePoint databases. To configure service account access, use SharePoint Central Administration.
In my SharePoint Site I do see a SharePoint section under the "Site Settings" for managing shared schedules but I think the main issue is, that I don't see that section in Central Administration.
In this article http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/1/0/f10c4f60-630e-4153-bd53-c3010e4c513b/ReadmeSQLEXP2005.htm , it explains that you must fully enable the security settings to allow use of transaction processing for a SqlExpress database. Is there a way to set these option in a setup? Or is there another way to use transaction processing without setting these options?
