Unable To Connect To Reporting Services

Aug 23, 2007

Hi all,

I am new to reporting services. I have created a report project in SQL Server BIDS. The datasource is SQL Server. I was able to see the preview of the report and could build and deploy the report. But when I try to run the report, it gives me error. So I tried connecting to Reporting Services through SQL Server Management Studio.

There I am unable to connect to the Reporting Services.
I am getting a very long error message. Giving below few lines which made sense to me.

Client found response content type of text/html; charset=utf-8, but expected text/xml.

Parse Error Message : An error occurred loading a configuration file: Access to the path c:Inetpubwwwrootweb.config is denied

I have given full rights to ASPNET, AuthenticatedUsers.

Pl help to resolve this issue.

Thanks,
Tejaswini

Integration Services :: Unable To Connect To A Webpage From SSIS

Nov 3, 2015

I am trying to connect to a Web page from SSIS and I've tried both http connection manager and a Script Task but none of them seems to be working.

I get the following errors:

Through Script Component: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.

Through http connection manager: The remote server returned an error: (503) Server Unavailable.

Here is one of the VB code I've tried:

Public Sub Main()
Dim MyWebClient As New System.Net.WebClient()
Dim proxyObject As New System.Net.WebProxy("BANANA:8080", True)
MyWebClient.Proxy = proxyObject

[Code] ....

And, here is one of the C# codes I've tried:

public void Main()
{
Variables varCollection = null;
Dts.VariableDispenser.LockForRead("User::RemoteUri");
Dts.VariableDispenser.LockForRead("User::LocalFolder");
Dts.VariableDispenser.GetVariables(ref varCollection);
varCollection.Unlock();

[Code] ...

I could open the same web page mentioned in the code manually in all my browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome).

I am using SQL Server 2014.

Reporting Services :: Unable To Delete Reports

Apr 20, 2015

We have created and scheduled some test reports via Idera performance tool but we are unable to delete the reports. These are not custom reports and reports created with Schedule Email option in Idera. Unfortunately, I dera does not have any option to delete these reports and support is asking me if I tried this by deleting from SQL Server Reporting Services.I looked at the Reporting services but can't find any place to delete these reports. This link does not provide any support because I don't have these (Or Report Manager)----> Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Computer Management / Reporting / Reporting Services.

URL....All I have is "Reporting Services Configuration Manager" under "Configuration Tools". How can I delete these reports from SQL Server Reporting services ?. Can I delete them from some tables in Reports databases ?. If so, what are the tables ?. I delete the jobs from SQL Server but the jobs are automatically created the next day emailing the reports again..

Cannot Connect To Reporting Services

Feb 11, 2008

I'm getting the following message when I try to connect to Reporting Services. 'The Report Services Instance could not be found'.

Report Services was installed separetly from the Database engine install. I see a reference in the documentation that Reporting Services has to be installed concurrntly with the Database engine. There are also to reporting databases installed. Assuming that this is the problem, is there a way to create the databases and connect to them without uninstalling and reinstalling the components. I've tried using the Database setup in the Reporting Services Configuration utility without success.

Unable To Configure Reporting Services With Vista/IIS7

Jan 10, 2007

I am trying to configure a reporting server on my laptop at work. This laptop is running Vista and IIS 7. When I install reporting services, the option for "Install the default configuration" is disabled (greyed out) during setup. The install is successful, but then when I try to connect in the Reporting Services Configuration Manager, I get an unhandled exception ("A WMI error has occurred an no additional error information is available."). If I continue, this error continues to crop up as I attempt to configure the Report Server. When I attempt to configure the virtual directory, the configuration manager crashes. Then, when I navigate to the reportserver page, I get a page that states:
Server Application Unavailable

The web application you are attempting to access on this web server is currently unavailable. Please hit the "Refresh" button in your web browser to retry your request.

Administrator Note: An error message detailing the cause of this specific request failure can be found in the application event log of the web server. Please review this log entry to discover what caused this error to occur.

Any ideas for a solution or workaround would be greatly appreciated.

Unable To Configure Reporting Services To Use SSIS Datasource

May 16, 2008

I've created a SSIS package with a DataReaderDestination and a SSRS report that points to it.

I referenced these links during development and I have everything working as expected locally. **I changed the config files as stated on both my local machine and our server. My config matches the example exactly.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345250.aspx
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms159215.aspx

When I attempt to deploy my report project to the server I get this error message:
"An attempt has been made to use a data extension 'SSIS' that is not registered for this report server."

In the report manager data source properties page it reads:
"The data processing extension used for this report is not available. It has either been uninstalled, or it is not configured correctly."

In SQL Server Management Studio data source properties page SSIS is not a data source type option.

I've tried restarting both the Reporting Services and Integration Services on the server to no avail.

Any suggests? My problem is I can't get the SSIS to be recognized source on the server.

Unable To Pass Null Value With DropDownList Parameter In Reporting Services 2005

Dec 3, 2007

Hello,

I have a stored procedure that on two fields it allows null. On the report, I have two DropDownList boxes that are populated with data, however, I would like the user to be able to have the option of not selecting an item from these list, thus passing null to the stored procedure.

When I goto "Report | Report Parameters" I have set these fields to "allow null" and "allow blank" and at the bottom I also gave it the default value of null.

When I run the report in preview mode, those two dropdownlist have a <Select a Value> and my assumption is since I want them to pass null, I will just leave them that way. However, when the report is ran, I receive an error saying "Please select a value for the parameter: (my parameter)". So it forces me to select an option at which I don't want to do.

How can I set this to pass a null?

Thanks,
Flea#

Reporting Services :: Unable To Pass Parameters Dynamically In SSRS 2012

I am creating simple report in ssrs and pass one parameter only. It will work perfectly (here user enter the parameter value). but i need that i should select the value in drop down box. i had tried many time and did different ways but I am unable to do it.

First i gave the parameter in my sql query in Data set (like WHERE COUNTRY = @COUNTRY) and i checked the Parameters tab in the data set. Here by default comes the Parameter Name: COUNTRY and Parameter value: [@COUNTRY].

Next i select COUNTRY Parameter in the Report Data Pane. and go to properties Here in General Tab: Name COUNTRY Prompt: COUNTRY, Select Get values from query in available values Tab (and also i tried with Select Get values from query in Default Value Tab) and Select Data set: Data Set1, Value field: COUNTRY and Label Field COUNTRY. And Click Ok

And tried to preview the report, it throwing below error

"An error Occured during local report processing.  The definition of the report is invalid. The Report Parameter 'COUNTRY' has a DefaultValue or a ValidValue that depends on the report parameter "COUNTRY". Forward dependencies are not valid.

How can I achieve dropdown list.What i missed? Even i unable to do it Multi valued parameters and Cascading parameters.

Actually i am working on SQL Express 2012 version.

Reporting Services And IIS Errors - Cannot Connect To Database Etc.

Mar 29, 2008

hi,

I set up Reporting Services about 9 months ago when I installed Microsoft CRM 3 (Dynamics?), but these problems have only just started occurring. Lost count of how many hours have been wasted looking for answers!

Apologies if this rambles on like a cheap book but i don't want to miss out any of the detail..

CRM stops working within an hour of IIS starting up, but if somebody logs in to CRM before it goes down then it's fine for the rest of the day. However the next day it's back to square one. Looking through Event logs it seems to be caused by SQL Reporting Server, because;

Report Server errors show it starting up after IIS, but within an hour throws up "Exception: System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationException - Message: Unable to find assembly 'Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics". It's at this point that IIS stops responding altogether, hence CRM stops working.

Running iisreset from the command line makes IIS work again, but this becomes a pain in the backside running it every morning before my colleagues get in. I have set up a schedule to run it for me, which works, but as i said if nobody logs in within the hour (which does happen at least once a week), then CRM won't work until i manually run iisreset again.

Also Reporting Services Configuration Manager does not start properly, so i can't even go through that to see if it's a config problem - when launching it i get an alert box with "An unknown error has occurred in the WMI Provider. Error Code 800706B3". That's with the default server name already in the box, but no matter what server name or IP I try to get it to connect to, it just will not have it. Also that error code seems to be unique to me, since not one webpage exists with the same code.

Other things i've gone through;

- SQL Server Configuration Manager shows everything Running, including Report Server
- SQL Management Studio shows all CRM & Reporting Services databases exist and are online.

- The Report Server error log shows this: "w3wp!library!1!29/03/2008-12:34:00:: e ERROR: Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ReportServerServiceUnavailableException: The Report Server Windows service 'ReportServer' is not running. The service must be running to use Report Server."

- http://localhost/ works fine.
- http://localhost/Reports/ shows up a .Net error page with Security Exception error: "The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy".
- http://localhost/ReportServer/ shows up a page with "localhost/ReportServer - / ---- Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Version 8.00.1038.00" which i assume is lacking correct content.

- When CRM was configured the setup wizard moaned that it could not use the existing Reporting Services database or IIS directories, so for that purpose there are two more virtual directories in IIS..
- https://localhost/ReportsSQL/ shows up an error: "Unable to connect to the remote server"
- https://localhost/ReportServerSQL/ shows up an error: "Reporting Services Error - The Report Server Windows service 'ReportServer' is not running. The service must be running to use Report Server. (rsReportServerServiceUnavailable)"

- While trying everything i am logged in as server admin
- Software specs: Windows 2003 Small Business Server (SP2), SQL Server Standard 2005 (9.0.3054 / SP2), all patches from Microsoft Update (not just Windows Update) have been applied.

If you managed to read this far then thank you.. I'm nearly bald with frustration so if someone could please suggest things worth looking into or trying, that would be very much appreciated.

Cheers

Reporting Services :: Unable To Run Scheduled Reports From SharePoint In Manage Shared Schedules

Jul 16, 2015

We are running into an issue where we are unable to run scheduled reports from SharePoint in the "Manage Shared Schedules" sections of any given site in our site collection (<site url>/_layouts/15/ReportServer/ScheduleList.aspx).  Reports are able to be generated manually, but never run when scheduled from SharePoint.We are encountering the following error in the SharePoint logs for our server.

 Microsoft.ReportingServices.Library.InvalidReportServerDatabaseException: , Microsoft.ReportingServices.Library.InvalidReportServerDatabaseException:

The version of the report server database is either in a format that is not valid, or it cannot be read. The found version is 'Unknown'. The expected version is '162'.;     Here is the background in our environment:

SharePoint App Server  - Server 2012 R2 running SharePoint 2013 Application server - running SSRS SharePoint Integrated configured through Central Admin.SharePoint SQL Server - Server 2012 R2 running SQL 2012 SP1 for the SharePoint farm - hosts the Reporting Services databases.I have run the script within the Central Admin > Provision Subscriptions and Alerts to give appropriate permissions the the account in use.  Also the reporting services databases were created new as part of the install, so they were not migrated from a previous version.
