Unable To Edit Cube & DSOInfo Message

Dear Listers,
We're using AS sp2.
Just about every action within AM generates the following message:
"DSOInfo: Cannot create temp directory c:program filesOLAP
ServicesBin..Help80metadatametatemp100. Please verify that you have enough disk space, and
they try again."
Has anybody been able to source the reason & subsequently remove the message?
Also, for a particular user, while attempting to edit a cube, who is defined as an OLAP Admin, receives the following message:
"Unable to connect to the 'Data source name' data source.
Does anyone have any ideaes?

I have a database with tables that are used for various front-ends, Access 97 and ASP. All of a sudden, my "Stores" table will not let me add, edit, delete, insert records. I checked security permissions everywhere and cannot figure out why this is happening. Is there something linked to this that might be running a process that might be causing this?

When I change some data in a row in my Results Pane and hit enter, I receive a message that "Data has changed since the Results pane was last retrieved." I click the yes button to "commit your changes to the database anyway," but then I get an error message telling me that my row was not updated. The message says "Error Message: The updated row has changed or been deleted since data was last retrieved. Correct the errors and retry or press ESC to cancel the change(s)." This time, the only option I have is to click the OK button. Can anyone give me some idea as to what I need to do to be able to update the row data in this way? Thanks.

Has anyone been able to edit a job that they created without having SQL Server Admin access?
I have created a credential that has SQL Server Admin access along with a proxy account. My ID doesn't have admin access but I have Ownership rights to my database. I am able to create a job and execute a job but I cant edit the job once its created.
We are on SQL Server 2005 SP2.
Any Ideas?

When using the 2005 SQL Server Management Studio Express to create a new query, most of the necesary keyboard functions do not work (Return/Enter, Backspace, Delete, etc). The only way to edit in the New Query tab is to select the undesired text and re-type it. The 'Enter' key is non-functioning so all text appears on one line.
A second issue arises when trying to execute a query. I always get an error message stating that the designated database cannot be found in the System Databases group. I have right-clicked on the database (Northwnd) I am querying to create the new query and I have also used the 'USE' statement but I still get the same error message.

Hi,
I'm working with few examples from a 70-315 exam prep book.
I'm trying to view the Table design... edit/ create views from VS. NET environment.
But when i right click on the View node under Data Connection tree i get only "Refresh" & "Properties". According to this book.. i should be able to create new views from here.
I'm working with a SQL Server 2000 local installation. VS .NET is connected to the DB, as i tried other examples and i'm able to read from the DB.
My SQL server installation is a 120 days eval installation... has this got anything to do with the behavior ??
I also reied to establish a connection with SQL server 'sa' login... i could connect, but again i wasnt able to create 'views' access tables design.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi!I am able to add records to my SQL 2005 database using bound forms in myAccess application, but if I try to edit any records (not only the newrecords I create) using the same bound forms, I receive a write conflict.For the record, I am currently the only user of this application and my SQLServer database has only one userID. I used this userID to create all ofthe objects in the database and to connect to the database from Access. Thedata sources for the bound forms are linked tables, the record source typeis set to "Dynaset" and the record locks are set to "No Locks". "Opendatabases using record-level locking" is checked.The write error says that another user has changed the current record sinceit was opened (since I'm currently the only user this isn't possible) andasks me to copy my changes to the clipboard or drop the changes.Can anyone suggest what might be causing this? I am running SQL 2005 Enterprise with SP2. In the past I have been able to successfully create SSIS packages using the BIDS and also Maintenance Plans from within Management Studio.
Today I tried to edit a maintenance plan and got the following error message:-

This error also occurs if I try to create a new Maintenance Plan.
I then tried opening an existing SSIS package in BIDS and got the following error:-

Index (zero based) must be greater than or equal to zero and less than the size of the argument list.

These errors only occur on my PC so I know that the problem is with my PC. I have totally uninstalled SQL 2005 components from my PC and reinstalled them with no luck.
To my knowledge, I haven't installed any other programs since creating these packages, although there's a possiblilty my PC may have had some patches applied through SMS.
I am running Windows 2000 Professional.
Can anyone help me resolve this problem?

Hi,
I think my description says it all. I have just installed Studio Express for the first time.
I want to attach a database. When the connect to server dialog is displayed the user name and password text box is greyed out. The Password box is blank and I need to edit this. I switch to SQL authentication they are enabled but if I switch back to Windows authentication they are both greyed out.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled but still no luck,
Any help would be great.

I have processed the data successfully for the cube after desiging storage as MOLAP with 50% performance gain. When I tried browse the data I am getting the followign error.
Unable to Browse the cube 'cubename', Unspecified error.

I am trying to access Cube through SSIS and have been unable to set SSIS package with the work around provided here (https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=219068). On pasting the MDX query using the openrowset command on the OLEDB source editor, I get a pop up window with error 0x08000405 and the message that says 'syntax used for openrowset is incorrect'
I also tried running this on SQL Management studio but, get the following error.
OLE DB provider "MSOLAP" for linked server "(null)" returned message "An error was encountered in the transport layer.".
OLE DB provider "MSOLAP" for linked server "(null)" returned message "The peer prematurely closed the connection.".
Msg 7303, Level 16, State 1, Line 3
Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "MSOLAP" for linked server "(null)".
The server where the cube resides is on 64bit machine and I have 32-bit..could this be the reason for the issue?
I found this article on microsoft support website (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947512 ) which describes the possible symptoms and causes for connectivity issues But, couldn't find a work around for it.
Here is the syntax of the query I am using in SSIS and query analyser
SELECT * FROM
OPENROWSET('MSOLAP', 'Integrated Security=SSPI;Persist Security Info=True;Data Source=<SERVERNAME>; Initial Catalog=<Catalog name>;'

I tried to connect from SSMS to analysis service, (Connect - > Analysis Services ) I am still getting the below error. I saw the SQL browser is running.

I just downloaded the release version of SQL 7.0 Enterprise Edition from the MSDN web site. When I tried to install it I received the message:
"The Enterprise Edition server component cannot be installed on Windows NT Server using this CD. Only client components will be available for installation."
I have NT SP4 and IE SP1 installed. Any ideas on what I need to do to get this installed? I've read the books online and don't see any prerequisites other than NT SP4 and IE SP1.

Hi All
I am stuck in this strange issue since the last two days. I have followed the tutorial to configure the 2 databases to send and receive messages which works. I added my own objects in the DB's also but when I try to send a message to the service I added I get a message:
"Dialog security is unavailable for this conversation because there is no security certificate bound to the database principal (Id: 1). Either create a certificate for the principal, or specify ENCRYPTION = OFF when beginning the conversation."
Security is setup in the same way for my objects as the security specified in the tutorial. The service binding on the initiator and target use the same account as specified in the tutorial. Please help.

I've installed Visual Studio 2005 Professional evaluation edition on both my desktop & on the server to try out the Debugger to be used with my Stored procedures
I got this error message every time i try to 'Step into Stored Procedure' from my desktop to connect to the stored procedure which resides on the Server.
Error message: Unable to Start T-SQL Debugging. Could not attach to SQL Server Process on 'Server1'.The RPC server is unavailable
The 'Step into Stored Procedure' works though if I open the stored procedure directly on the server.
Both my PC and Server has been installed with Remote Debugger and my windows login has been assigned permission to debug on the debugger that resides on the Server and has sysadmin server role on SQL 2005 both on PC and Server.
Can someone tell me what i miss out to debug Stored procedure in the SQL Server 2005 on the Server from my PC?

Hi,
I am testing SSIS and have created a Flat File Destination. I defined the Flat File Connection as New for the first time and it worked fine. Now, I would like to go back and modify the Flat File Connection in the Flat File Destination Editor, but it allows only to create a New connection rather allowing me to edit the existing one. For testing, I can go back and create a new connection, but if my connection had 50-100 columns then it would be an issue to re-create it from scratch.
Did someone else faced this issue?

I am just starting out using CUBEMEMBER/CUBEVALUE formulas in excel linked into a sql olap db - using this method for some custom reports where pivot tables are not suitable.
The time dimension values include Months, Quarters and Years and the CUBEMEMBER formulas like
=CUBEMEMBER("OLAPCUBE","[Time].[Time].[Year].&[2015].&[1].&[1]") work fine - 1st quarter 1st month etc.
Is there a straightforward notation to aggregate months or do I need to use a plus sign to add a number of CUBEMEMBER formulas together.In other words - Is there an easier way of for say jan to july 2015 totals than
=CUBEMEMBER("OLAPCUBE","[Time].[Time].[Year].&[2015].&[1]") + (CUBEMEMBER("OLAPCUBE","[Time].[Time].[Year].&[2015].&[2]")) + (CUBEMEMBER("OLAPCUBE","[Time].[Time].[Year].&[2015].&[3].&[7]"))
I haven't tested this but have assumed it works but a bit long and clumsy.

I have problems creating a cube with AMO.
I can add the cube to the database object and fill it with dimensions and a measuregroup (see code below).
If I call cube.Update() it says something like "Error in meta data manager. Cube has no measuregroups." (getting the message in german language)
The error in Microsoft.AnalysisServices.OperationException.Results.Messages is -1055653629
I can't find any documentation about this (or any other) error code in Microsoft documentation.

When I make a call to GetSchemaDataset with a restriction of a cube name with a space in the name of the cube the call fails. Following is a sample of the code: adoRestriction = new AdomdRestriction("CATALOG_NAME", "Contoso Telecom_Contoso"); adoRestrictions.Add(adoRestriction); dataSet = conn.GetSchemaDataSet("MDSCHEMA_CUBES", adoRestrictions); I am running SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services SP2. Is there some way to qualify the cube name in the restriction or is this just a bug? Thanks.

In my SQL Server, I see the below message in the Application Event Viewer
"18265 :

When I save the application event viewer and open it in another server, I do not see the above message, instead I get the following message:
" Can't find or load message DLL. Message DLL must be in path or in current directory."
Any thoughts to overcome this problem is appreciated.

I run SB between 2 SQL servers. In profiler on an initiator side I see next error: 'This message could not be delivered because its message timestamp has expired or is invalid'. For the conversation we use best practice, i.e. target closes a conversation. Target side succeed to close conversation, but initiator still stay in DO (disconnect_outbound).
What is a reasone for the error? What to do?

Hello,
I am having trouble specifying a message body that is valid. I mean for the client to send. If I leave it as null then everything is ok but if I create a memorystream and add a line of text it reports back it did not pass validation. I do not understand this and am not sure what to do. I need to send a message based on a code and text but do not know the format of the body that is allowed. The code I am refering to comes out of HelloWord_CLR because that is what I am formating my sample after. I call it the same way it calls the return message done in ServiceProc. I need to know the message format including body since this does not seem to work. A sample of the call is bellow.

I have some problems to edit a recordset in an ActiveX DTS using Vbscript.
Here is an example of the script :

I allways get -1 for the varset.recordcount ! (I checked there are some records into the table).
I don't think it is a problem of user's right as it works with the same user configuration using a SQL action requery.
If I modify the open statement like this :
varset.Open varsql, varconn, 1
varset.recordcount contains the good number of records but the recordset is read noly and can't be modified...
Any Help will be very wellcome !

This is a basic, remedial question, but I've no experience whatsoever with SQL server or Access (although I'm familiar with basic DB concepts). Even so, I have inherited this project because no one else will take it (besides, I like the challenge of learning something new :-). If I understand correctly, I can use Access 2000 to create and edit DBs on my SQL 7 server, and to run queries. This is done by creating a WBEM ODBC connector (I have no idea how this is done). I'm pretty good at figuring things out on my own, but I sure would appreciate being pointed in the right direction. What I'd like to know is first of all, am I on the right track, and secondly, what do you all recommend as a good source of info on this topic (the Microsoft web site, technet, manuals?).
All info is greatly appreciated.

I need to convert this from Jet SqL to SQL Server. Moving out of an MDB to an ADP some of the queries I need to change over, I inherited this database and the bosses want all databases moved over from MDB to ADP.

please, it is possible to know the edit distance used in the fuzzy lookup/grouping.
On this forum I read fuzzy lookup use 4-gram with fix size.
Does exist any document explaining how fuzzy lookup calculate the similarity? In other word, what kind of edit distance, algorithm is used by fuzzy lookup/grouping?

Two days back we have installed SP2 on SQLServer2005 Active/Active Cluster which result in failure.
Only Database Services and Analysis Services where not updated and rest of the services got updated.
After a restart , the behaviour of SQLServer is helarious.
We got into lot of problem so we opened support from Microsoft.
One of the problem i forgot to mentioed to Microsoft was on editing the Job i cannot see anything inside,all the entries where empty closing the job window and opening it again i got all my entries back but on editing i got the below mentioned Error.
Error:
Creating an instance of the COM component with CLSID {E80FE1DB-D1AA-4D6B-BA7E-040D424A925C} from the IClassFactory failed due to the following error:c001f011(Microsoft.SqlServer.ManagedDTS)
If anyone faced the same problem and got any resolution please let me know.
