Unable To View Reports On Report Viewer After Publishing ASP.NET Web Site
Oct 31, 2007
Hi,
I have couple of Web pages linking to my RDLs using report viewer Web controls. I have no problem running and viewing them in VS2005 debug mode and report manager until I published them to local folder and set the local folder as an application on my IIS7. When running the published version of the Web pages, all my calendar image buttons (which happen to be part of the report parameter fields) turned to red 'X':
When clicking the View Report button, the animated progress icon not appearing at all. Before the occurance of this problem, I did face the problem whereby the 'NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE' does not have enough permission to view the report. After referring to some threads, I finally be able to get rid of this error by assigning Browser role to 'NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE' from the report manager. I wonder could this solution be related to the problem that I'm facing now. Any help would be appreciated.
I have been using the reportviewer control to display my ssrs reports. However, i'm facing issues in displaying Server reports in the control. The following error show up whenevr i click on View Report.
Execution 'aaxe3ke5k34l5355qbup0rvo' cannot be found
Please help if anyone has come across something similar
Hi, I am developing a website that will use the VS Report Viewer control to display some business reports.....The website will be on the internet, but the report viewer will need to access an internal report server that the internet users don't have access to? Is this possible, or the correct way to do this? Any ideas / suggestions would be appreciated!

The source code that generated this unhandled exception can only be shown when compiled in debug mode. To enable this, please follow one of the below steps, then request the URL:
1. Add a "Debug=true" directive at the top of the file that generated the error. Example:
<%@ Page Language="C#" Debug="true" %>
or:
2) Add the following section to the configuration file of your application:
Note that this second technique will cause all files within a given application to be compiled in debug mode. The first technique will cause only that particular file to be compiled in debug mode.
Important: Running applications in debug mode does incur a memory/performance overhead. You should make sure that an application has debugging disabled before deploying into production scenario. Stack Trace:
I am writing an app that will allow a user to select various information for displaying in a report. The sql is dynamically generated when the user clicks on "Get Report". Currently, I am using a gridview with a datasource and I pass the query to the datasource and it displays in the grid view. However, our company has expressed a need to migrate reporting to SSRS.
Is there any way that I can use dynamic sql with a template report and feed the dynamic sql to it so that all I would have to do is write a single rdl or rdlc and pass it the sql?
Alternatively, is there a way to have One ReportViewer show multiple parameterized reports. Ie. User selects the report from a dropdown and then selects the parameter options from other dropdowns and when they click "get report" it loads the chosen report with the parameters?
I added a page to exsisting web site. Then I used report viewer to show a report. But when I try to view it in the browser, I get the following error message.

But I created another website using visaul studio in my local machine and then used report viewer to disaply the same report. Its in server mode same as earlier. This one can be viewed without any trouble.
I'm not familiar with ASP.NET thing. Can anyone help me to resolve this one?
Since SP2 was installed on our SSRS server a couple of days ago, reports viewed in the client Report Viewer control (with or without VS SP1) show a black background when in Print Layout Mode. All other rendering options work fine. Anyone else seen this? Any clues how to fix?
I am generating a Report by using SSRS. I am making using use of SSRS Report Viewer control for displaying the report. Which has an option to export the generated report in PDF format. Instead of displaying the report in by using report viewer I want to generate it directly in PDF format whenever that report is selected from the list of reports. So is there is any way to generate the report directly in PDF format which prompt a pop up for opening or saving the PDF?
I have created a web site containing a login control. It works great on my local machine, but when I copy it to the server, I get the following error when I try to login to the website: Server Error in '/mrallensclass' Application.

I've tried changing the default zoom setting by editing the RSReportServer.config file to include
<Configuration>
<DeviceInfo>
<Zoom>Page Width</Zoom> </DeviceInfo> </Configuration> under the
<Render>
<Extension Name = "HTML4.0" etc. However, all reports still show up with the zoom setting at 100% on the toolbar. I stop and restart the Report Server Service and it comes up OK so I know my XML syntax is cool. What am I doing wrong?
This is on a 2005 Report Server. Reports are built in VS2005 Report Designer and deployed to the Report Server directly. Reports are accessed via IE7 browser.
Hi all, I followed this excellent tutorial (from Microsoft) about creating and using a SQLExpress db table internal to your website: http://www.asp.net/learn/videos/video-08.aspx and the site I created works just fine - locally. When I publish to my web host provider I get this error: [SqlException (0x80131904): An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)] My web host provider supports .NET 2.0 but doesn't support MS SQL Server. But that should matter - right? Because I'm putting the db instance right in the website? I did a search and followed some of the advice: I went into the SQL Server Surface Area Config Mgr and set SQLExpress for local and remote connections and rebooted/republished. I also have SQL Server 2005 installed as a separate entity (if that makes a difference). I still get the above error. This is the connection string from the web.config: <connectionStrings><add name="ConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|Customers.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/> </connectionStrings>And this is the call from the markup: <asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource1" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:ConnectionString %>" SelectCommand="SELECT * FROM [Customer]"></asp:SqlDataSource> Does any know the fix for this? Thanking you in advance Pat
I need add an report of type "Power View" in Web Part of Site of Sharepoint. What is category chose in Web Parts to add an report of type Power View ?My objective is create an tree menu with links to specific sites (created for me) that have web parts with "Power View".
I'm able to preview my report in Visual Studio and once I'm deploying it, it is getting deployed also on the Local server but when I'm using browser and trying to view the report, it is showing me following error message:

I'm using Win XP Pro with a developer edition of Sql Server 2005 and administrator of computer. Not able to understand why in browser I'm not able to view reports.
I am publishing a SQL view in excell using the external data/new database query option and accessing SQL server via ODBC datasource defined.
The query I use aggregates data between 2 diferent dates. I am able to pass the initial date and the end date to SQL, but the results are not aggregated becase I am forced to put in the view the GroupBy clause for the field DATE. Is there any way of passing parameters to SQL (via Excell) and retrienve the aggregated data based on this parameters?
I have several reports in a Power View Gallery. In Gallery view, most of the reports show the "Open New Excel Workbook", the "Create Power View Report", and the "Manage Data Refresh" buttons on the right side of the report list. Why would some reports not have these buttons available? In the attached image you can see one report with the buttons and one without the buttons.
I need to create a new web site in Internet Information Service.
This can be done by opening IIS manager.
In IIS Manager, expand the local computer, right-click the Web Sites folder, point to New, and then click Web Site. The Web Site Creation Wizard appears.
But if i right click the Web Site Folder. only Properties and Refresh option is showing.New option is not shown.
I will appreciate if any one give solution to solve this problem.
I have created reports in SQL Server reporting services(SSRS)and when i publish the report in the Localhost server it can be viewed in browser only in the INTRANET network but my intention is to generate the INTERNET URL of the report such that report published can be viewed in INTERNET outside this network..
Anyone know how I can direct different reports in the same project to different folder on the SSRS site? I can get everyone to publish to one folder, but want to know if its possible on a report/report basis to different folders
I've made some reports using the Report Designer. When i run them in the Report Designer everything is correct. Then in my webpage i have links to launch the same reports. The viewer is launching the report using the HTML4.0 format parameter in the URL. In the viewer my report is so ugly. Some textbox doesn't have the same height, other are not align correctly. What i don't understand is if i tried to print the report or export it in PDF or in TIFF everything is ok. I only have the problem when i tried to view the report using the viewer with the HTML4.0 parameter.
So is this a problem with the viewer ? Is there something i can do to correct this problem ?
I have a dropdown which shows all the available reports on reporting server. What I want to do is when a user select a report from dropdown and click on RUN REPORT button. That particular report will run. I am using VB.NET 2.0 version. One way which i am thinking is to use ReportViewer Control. Is there any other way to publish the reports in window forms or ReportViewer will take care. Kindly guide.
We have a small .NET intranet site and I have some experience with Reporting Services. What I am looking to do is develop some reports on our website. However, I would like to make it so the user can do some customization of their reports.
For example, there would be sections of reports (Headcounts, Turnover, etc.) and in each section there would be measurements they could click to include. So I could select the Headcounts section and select the measurements such as Terminations, Hires, and Period End Headcount. I may not select the Turnover sections at all. I am almost thinking like a Google page where you can move around the sections and have your own customized report. Maybe these sections could work as Web Parts, or something like that.
Does any of this make sense? Is it possible? Are there are websites or examples that are out there that I could get an idea to see if this has been done and how to do it?
I have just installed SSRS 2005 SP2 on a x86 box (one of several boxes we use to run SSRS). However, on this particular machine, I get an http 404.3 error (file not found) when attempting to access any aspx file in the reports virtual directory. aspx files in the /reportserver site all return just fine.
All the check marks for the configuration site show green I've uninstalled / re-installed / re-booted / etc... No luck
Hello, I am running out of ideas on how to get SSRS to work. I am trying get this setup with the intention to replace our Crystal Reports server. Currently I have set up the RS Virtual Directory on a Win XP box. The ReportServer database sits on another SQL2000 box.
I can connect to the http://localhost/ReportServer/ on the XP box to display the page the depicts "Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Version 9.00.2047.00"
When I connect to the http://localhost/Reports/, I get this error "A name was started with an invalid character. Error processing resource 'http://leej/Reports/'. Line 1, Position 2" I checked my IIS Virtual Directory properties for Reports and ASP.NET is set to v2.0.50727. I also executed "aspnet_regiis.exe -i" in the "C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727" directory.
Any thought on how to fix this? I hate to let this blocker deters us from deploying SSRS.
I am trying to add a SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Database to my Web Site. But I am unablr to do so.
I am getting the following error: {"An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)"} I am unable to understand what exactly is the problem. Pls Help me out. Thanx In Advance.
Very strange phenomenon with the "Jump to report:" Hyerlink Actions when I deployed my reports to the production servers:
The Actions no longer funcioned properly when attempting to go to one report to another. Sometimes, the same report would come up and sometimes a different report. It appeared that whatever mechanism Report Server uses to construct the proper URL when using "Jump to report:" is unreliable(or the URL is not being honored by the web-server).
All this is happening under the Report Viewer control. I have had to do a painful fix of manually constructing the entire absolute URL and including the reportviewer control in the url.
Any way to get back relative Jump to report: URL's?
We are generating excel report using report viewer at run time but if excel report having more then 65000 record generating error Microsoft. Reporting Services.OnDemandReportRendering.ReportRenderingException: Excel Rendering Extension: Number of rows exceed.
I have a problem using Report Viewer With SQL Reporting Services 2005.
I had a really weird issue with a ReportViewer. It would show the little green Loading progress bar image €¦ but it wouldn€™t show any data, just a white background where the output should be. I knew the data was there because exporting to Excel or PDF showed the data just fine.
The problem is report toolbar is display but NO DATA is displayed and the report comes out as EMPTY .
Thanks in advance..
Can you please help me out in resolving this problem.
Hello, I'm using Reporting Services to render a text (stored in sql as varchar(max)). The text is all plain text, with some lines having trailing spaces.
Source text file i've imported to SQL via SSIS: CLIENT: 10055 STATEMENT 2007 DATE:1002993 THIS IS THE OTHER STATEMENT COLUMN1 COLUMN2 COLUMN 3 TRY THIS
*Note the trailing spaces on the line before 'STATEMENT 2007'.
I've designed a report using the Report Project in VS2005 to retrieve this text via a stored procedure. When I test the report using the 'Preview' tab in the IDE, it looks good CLIENT: 10055 STATEMENT 2007 DATE:1002993 THIS IS THE OTHER STATEMENT COLUMN1 COLUMN2 COLUMN 3 TRY THIS
But when I deploy the report and run it using URL Access:
CLIENT: 10055 STATEMENT 2007 DATE:1002993
THIS IS THE OTHER STATEMENT
COLUMN1 COLUMN2 COLUMN 3 TRY THIS
On all lines with trailing spaces, they (the trailing spaces) have been removed. This is affecting my formatting of some reports and statements. We really want to use the report viewer as it has built in paging, print and export capabilities.
Why does it look okay in VS2005 but different in Report Viewer via URL Access and Report Manager?
Note: When I export as PDF, it looks okay.
The stored procedure I use to return the data is a CLR Hosted assembly as below:
Code Snippet Partial Public Class StoredProcedures <Microsoft.SqlServer.Server.SqlProcedure()> _
Public Shared Sub GetPagedDocument(ByVal inText As SqlString) Dim dr As SqlDataReader Dim row As New SqlDataRecord(New SqlMetaData("RowText", SqlDbType.Text)) Dim cmd As New SqlCommand("select cast(doc as varchar(max)) as 'DOCTEXT' from testdoc WHERE id='" + inText + "'") Dim cn As New SqlConnection("context connection=true") cn.Open() cmd.Connection = cn SqlContext.Pipe.SendResultsStart(row) 'initialise the resultset to be returned dr = cmd.ExecuteReader 'If no records in result set, return. If Not dr.HasRows Then
row.SetString(0, "There is no document to display or you do not have permission to view the document.") SqlContext.Pipe.SendResultsRow(row) SqlContext.Pipe.SendResultsEnd() ' SqlContext.Pipe.Send("There is no document to display.") Return End If 'Read rows in the result set dr.Read()
'Get the entire text Dim docText As String = dr.Item("DOCTEXT") 'debug row.SetString(0, docText) SqlContext.Pipe.SendResultsRow(row) SqlContext.Pipe.SendResultsEnd() Return 'end debug
i just clicked on Advanced mode in Column Group, and then in Row Group Side i set Fixed Data=true for first top static. I'm using local report not server report and i'm displaying that local report in Reportviewer. Now also its not working....
