I'm running SQL 6.5 Sp4.
I tried recreating the article, resyncing and redistributing, with no luck.
Is there anything I can do to fix this? Any help would be appreciated

I got this error message during SQL Server Express install with no error code on Server 2003 SP1. I'm installing on an older development machine and although I do have a very large log file somewhere I wanted to post before I even dug into it. I noticed in IIS under my Webs that the MSSQLExpress webs were there at first but when I clicked on them to get any info or Properties... they dissapeared. So they were almost installed but they no longer exist. Also I do not have a SQL Service Manager icon down near the clock.
I almost took a step to fix this. After reading a few posts about similar problems I thought maybe this happened because the Default Web Sites IP # was not set to (All Unassigned). I was going to try a repair install from Add/Remove Programs but the temporary setup files are already gone. I really dont want to uninstall all 5 SQL components from Add/Remove Programs and start from scratch.
As good security practice we usually remove the Default Web or as in this development servers case we changed the IP from (All Unassigned) to an IP that is only accessible from certain machines on the internal network. I obviously should have read more pre setup guides. Anyway how can I fix this without reinstalling everything?
I have used the copy database wizard, but I realized I had forgotten to shrink the transaction log file. So I canceled the wizard. My database, detached by the wizard, has now disappeared. The mdf file is still there, but when I try to attach it manually I get the "create file encountered operating system error 5 while attempting to open the physical file..." error.
Any way I can recover it?

I am running a query on a SQL Server 2005 database and encounter the following error message
"Internal Query Processor Error: The query processor encountered an unexpected error during execution."
There is a join between a table on the 2005 database and another on a 2000 database. I have run DBCC CHECKTABLE and found no errors on the two tables.

I'm not sure if this one should be addresses to the data mining team or the analysis services team, but I first encountered this error while attempting to process a Naive Bayes mining model that has a column with only a couple of distinct values in it. I set the discretization method for the column to clusters and then tried to process the model. The processing completed with failures and complained that the column had too few distinct values to apply the selected discretization.
I have now also noticed that when I attempt to process an OLAP cube that has the same column as a measure group in it the cube processing fails with the following error:
[Analysis Services Execute DDL Task] Error: Internal error: An unexpected error occurred (file 'mddiscretizer.cpp', line 1532, function 'MDDiscretizer::GetBucketForValue').
Any thoughts on this one?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a SSIS job which takes a SQL Server view as its source and outputs a flat file. The file is quite large, about 20000 rows of 30 columns and up to 400 characters per row. It is configured with CRLF at the end of each line, tabs between columns, and no header row. Most rows are output with no problems, but occasionally a line will include a line break (CRLF) in the middle. The problem appears random, but the rows with spurious CRLFs appear in clusters, with each row in the cluster having a line break after the same column. To illustrate, it looks something like this:
col1 col2 ... col 30
col1 col2 ... col 30
col1 col2 ... col 24 CRLF
col25 col 26 ... col 30
col1 col2 ... col 24 CRLF
col25 col 26 ... col 30
col1 col2 ... col 30
col1 col2 ... col 30
So although there is some pattern, where a group of lines will include a break in the same place, I've not been able to identify the pattern and relate it back to the data items.
What could possibly cause CRLFs to spontaneously appear midway through the row?

This is a problem I encountered when I had to detach a database file (type .mdf):
1) I went to the MS SQL Management Server Studi and detached my database file successfully from a connection called Workhorse.
2) I needed to place the .mdf database file into a zip file in order to put it on a remote server. I did this using Shared Portal. This was also successful
3) However when I tried reattaching the database file, I got this error:
CREATE FILE encountered operating system error 5A(Access denied.) while attempting to open or create the physical file "CProgram FilesMSSQL ServerMSSQLData<databasename>.mdf'
Q) The database file and log file (ldf) exist in the correct directory so I don't know what happened. Can any one help?

Hi all... I've encountered the following error in NT Event Viewer - Application related to SQL Server.
"The description for Event ID ( 263 ) in Source ( CIS ) could not be found. It contains the following insertion string(s): ERROR Communication link failure for CAudit!."

"The description for Event ID ( 263 ) in Source ( CIS ) could not be found. It contains the following insertion string(s): Error Communication link failure in ApplicationLogon."
There are around 30-40 messages (same) in the Event Viewer & I couldn't find the cause of the problem.
& I also have this error messages in SQL Server error log (different server)
"Unable to write to ListenOn connection . pipesqlquery' loginname 'sa'. hostname 'testing'... followed by "OS Error: 232, The pipe is being closed". & this error occurs everyday & few times a day!
Not sure whether the problem is purely SQL Server or got to do with the network/NT. Can't get any help from our network/NT support until I can prove to them that it is related to network/NT!

I am calculating Average Number of patients per day per nurse by using below query

we now used synonyms on the version 6 of our peoject, at first it turns out good. Then we migrate a database to the new database, everythings fine, its just a data migration anyway. The target database' structure and DML's wasn't change during migration. then intermittendly, we're encountering "A severe error occurred on the current command. The results, if any, should be discarded". I said its intermittent because sometime its ok, mostly its not functioning.
This is very painfull because all our scripts has this synonym. All our scripts uses an sp execution logging stored procedured of another database so we created a synonym for those sp's instead of fully qualifying the procedure name.

I have a GridView connected to a sqldatasource control. Everything is working great, updates, paging and filtering with one exception. When the user enters in a name like O'Reilly (with a single quote), the page errors. The error returned is:

I'm trying to re-enable replication back on the server, it used to work, then we disable it for a while, then I.T. decided to change the server name, NOW, it encounters a bunch of problems when trying to configure replication....
there are a bunch of stored procedures are missing from teh MASTER database, is there are way to restore them without trashing our current production server???
also, when I try to create a missing stored procedure by copying the code from another server, sp_adddistributiondb, it gives me this error,
"Ad hoc updates to system catalogs are not enabled", what do this mean and how can i enable it.

I have a dtsx import script which import a delimeted csv file into a sql 2012 table. The default of the output length for all columns is set to 50 characters.All records which do not comply goes to another table in the same database. When I ran the script,all the records goes to the error table. I have now found a way to retrieve the column id and the error message to find that some column are been truncated and do not import.
I now need to know which column is given the error. The import file have more than 300 columns and I do not want to go and check each column length.I am using visual studio 2010 and using visual basic. I have found a sample of C+,but the screen shots is very small and when I type in the command,i do not compile.
We have over 400 import scripts and I could really use this in all of them to trouble shoot.

We suspect that when they first installed SQL Server, the optical media that they reported to be "faulty" was replaced with another one, and ended up installing Enterprise Edition of SQL Server. They were supposed to install Standard Edition. However, we'd like to confirm if the error message really the case that somehow SSRS is expecting the Std Ed SKU but meets up with Ent Ed?

I export data from a dozen tables of one database to another database on another server regularly and it works well. However, if i choose the option of "save SSIS package", I get the following error:

I've build a few packages in BIDS and they work fine there, but saving them to either the file system or MSDB locations and running them in Management Studio results in:

I've searched the Internet and found a few people who has also experienced this, but not received any answers.
Is there a kind guru out there with some idea of what is going on? Preferably something that doesn't involve re-installing, because the database has already been configured for our Blackberry users and I can't re-do it now.
