Unexpected Error With JDBC SQL Server 2000 Connectivity

Hi,
We are running one shopping site for our organisation, which includes Tomcat 5.0.28 , IIS & SQL Server 2000 SP3 hosted on platform Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Ed. , we are running jsp pages server side and site is hosted on internet,
but it is observed that after every 1/2 days , page will throw following exception, and site get blocked.
javax.servlet.ServletException: Network error IOException: No buffer space available (maximum connections reached?) : connect
Can anybody help please?
I am beginner with JDBC - SQL Server Connectivity ,
I am giving our configuration details:
Driver Used - Microsoft SQL Server Driver 2000 SP3
Protocol Used - TCP/IP which open socket connection on default port 1433
Authentication - Mix Mode Authetication ( using sa account login)
Even setting done within LOCAL instance running on server to allow max. connections i.e 32767
My observation is that some kind of virus threat may causing this error, because if server will be rebooted, we doesn't
get any error and everything works fine.

An application on our sql 2005, x64, server is trying to connecto to our HP 3000 using JDBC (from MiniiSoft). The applicaiton fails.
Are than any administrative tools from Microsoft that I can use to see if the JDBC connection is good? (We are new users of th app and it is possible that we have misconfigured the app but be want to check that JDBC is working as a first step.) We use jre 1.4.2_11

P.S. I have heard about a Microsoft JDBC product. We haven't tested it and don't know if it can talk to an HP 3000 (which uses a MiniSoft listener)

I'm currently receiving the following error message whilst attempting to install SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition on Windows Server 2003 (32 Bit):
Error 29528. The setup has encountered an unexpected error while Installing performance counters. The error is: The system cannot find the file specified.
This server already has an install of SQL Server 2000 as the default instance. I'm attempting to install a new named instance of SQL Server 2005.

You can ignore this and it will complete the installation, but subsequently trying to patch with SP2 will fail on the same sections - Hotfix.exe crashes whilst attempting to patch Database Services, Integration Services and Client Components (3 separate crashes).
I've removed SQL Server 2005 elements and tried to re-install, but it's not improved the situation.
Any ideas?

I am attempting to install SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition onto a Windows XP Pro SP2 machine, but unfortunately each time that I attempt to install I receive an error message in the summary log as follows:

There is probably a simple solution for the issue but unfortunately I am unaware of what it is? I can€™t tell if the issue is specific to registry settings, security, file types, etc€¦ The information below surrounds the error w/in the log, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated?

I have an application which is under development in VS 2005 but the database is in SQL Server 2000. We are facing some strange problem with the connectivity between VS 2005 - SQL Server 2000.
I have tried all the possible ways or solutions i found when searching in google but unable to find a solution.This had become a major challenge for us now to identifiy the root cause of the problem
Error:
"An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)"
Please suggest.

We have an OLD vbscript process that is running on a Windows 2000 box. The box has Sql Server 7.0 on it (not sure if relevant). The process used to hit a Sql Server 2000 database, but that database was recently migrated to 2005 (on different server). Now the connection string obviously no longer works, and we can't even add a DSN to 2005 (does not recognize new server). The machine pings the new SQL server without any problem, but cannot connect for data access.
I assume there should be some driver that I can install to fix this, but have yet to find one on the web. Does anyone have a recommended download to remedy this?

This page mentions certain versions of JDK that this driver works with, but 1.6 is not one of them.
How can I use this driver with JDK 1.6?

I've got an import app written in Java. One table I'm importing from contains 22 million records. When I run the app in a 2000 environment, I have my max heap set at 512, and the table gets imported. When I run in a 2005 environment, I have to change the max heap to 1152 or it will error out with a similiar error:
com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: The system is out of memory. Use server side cursors for large result sets:Java heap space. Result set size:854,269,999. JVM total memory size:1,065,484,288. (<--this is with max heap at 1024)
what is the difference between the 2000 and 2005 JDBC that I have to set max heap in one and not the other?

I have been stressing with issue for last few days.
I have a stored Procedure ramApplicationAddTest, I can run it through SQL Query Analyser without any problem.
I can call this using JDBC and it works, here is how I make call I make to SP

I have Visual Web Developer worked on my computer, but I can't make SQL Server work for data-driven. I have a distributed environment with SQL Server 2005 SP2 (RTM) running on one server. This server holds the databases for SharePoint and Reporting Services. I then have SharePoint 3.0 (32-bit version) with the reporting services add-in installed on a second server. I installed the sharepoint object model (64-bit version) on the database server as suggested and have configured Reporting Services to use domain user accounts. The Reporting Services configuration tool is reporting that integration has been successfully set up but I am unable to access the "Set Server Defaults" page without an error. This is the error I receive:
An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode.

Here is an obscure question that I am sure can be dealt with from a10,000 ft view:I have installed Fuego (an enterprise level BPM). Another applicationwas built in-house to connect to Fuego (Fuego has two SQL 2000databases to handle the business process flow and instance flow). Thisin-house application then uses Tomcat & JDBC to connect to the abovementioned Fuego databases and a third SQL 2000 database that handlesthe actual data.The entire gist is this: The application(s) run the SQL calls as astandardIt is SQL Server performing all of the cursor work; I'm guessingthrough whatever translation layer. Maybe JDBC is causing this? Hasanyone seen this before?My second problem is that I let the application run for 1 day in useracceptance testing and I ended up with 1.8GB procedure cache (allcursors) at 50% cache hit ratio and 140MB of data cache at 99% cachehit ratio. Hello,
I am developing an application which needs JDBC connection to a Named Instance of SQL Server 2000 (other than default instance). I am facing problem in this regard as my code gives an exception "Time Out" or "Connection Failed". However it works fine with the default named instance...The main driver class is "com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver"
and Connection URL is
"jdbc: sqlserver://localhost;instanceName=Testing:1432;databaseName=testDB;"
It gives the exception that Unable to connect to named instance....
Please if any one have any knowledge in this regard....do let me know....I have read an article on MSDN according to which on MS SQL Server 2000 the named Instance other than default can be accessed only through named pipes.

Recently, I found a bug in Microsoft's official SQL Server2000 JDBC driver.
It seemed to lie in the Statement's setDate() method. Maybe they simply assumed
all date are represented in 12-hours format.

Given the code and data, the expected output ought to be "count = 19"
But it's "count = 19" instead.
However, if you set date by using alternative method like the commented statements,
you can get the correct result.
Does anybody know if there exists any patch?
Could we expect Mircosoft to fix this bug? If so, where could I submit this bug report?

I'm using JDBC driver for Server 2005 (version 1.1.1501) to access Server 2000. I have no problems reading my data, but every update returns "Cursor is READ ONLY".
If I use driver for Server 2000 I have no problems. And I have no problems running the same program with 2005 driver against SQL Server Express.
Where should I start debugging?

Hello All -
I am using SQL server 2005 sp1 to work with my applications... and i am using ODBC connection to communicate with SQL serrver...
The connectivity has been working fine for more than a 6 months now .... and suddenly it thows an error ...
"General network error. Check your network documentation.ConnectionRead (recv())."
There about 10 applications accessing SQL server... and all the applications throws this same error...
I intially thought it migjht be bacuase some applications are over utilizing the SQL connection and not closing them properly... but i noticed the connection opened in the Activity monitor are the same as it supposed to be ... no extra unwanted connection opened...
I also noticed that SQLserver.exe process is utilizing almost all the RAM memory and trying to allocate more page memory.... so i restarted the SQL sever service and that reinstated all the connectivity properly....
in couple of days .... the memory utilization again reached the max and this problem started again and i had to restart the SQL server again... and this problem happens every 2 days...
I know SQL server is using up those memory for caching purpose which is normal... but Y would this cause the connectivity to fail...
Is it a problem in SQL server 2005 SP1 ... shd i upgrade it to SP2?
If some of my application is causing this how would i narrow it down to that application and pin point on that particular one?
The thrown error does not have much information for it to guide me in a direction for debugging...
Please can any one help me tro this problem?

BACKGROUND:
I have two databases that support two separate applications. Both applications are required to be in sync with one anther. One application is MSSQL 2000 based and the other is Oracle 9.i. Given the complexity of the first application (host), the best solution was to use linked servers to connect the SQL database to the Oracle database.
To prevent imbalances, the host application calls a package in Oracle to update the secondary application before it completes the transaction in SQL. This way, if anything fails at any point, the entire transaction is rolled back and neither databases are updated.
PROBLEM:
Our test system is stand alone but is performing the previously mentioned transaction in the same manner to an Oracle database on a Linux server. After passing testing, we promoted the application to the live system and are experiencing the following error when the transaction attempts to call the Oracle package:
Connectivity error: [Microsoft][ODBBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]MSDTC on server XXXXX is unavailable.
I have done some reading, but there really isn€™t much literature on linked servers. Will someone help?

This script runs under stripped-down Windows enviornment (Windows PE) with very basic components (i.e. no GUI, only command-line interface). I am trying to find out if there is any client side setting to bypass "self-generated SSL ceritificate" on server. I have tried all things on server side from disabling shared memory protocol, setting "Force Encryption" property etc. Could somebody help me with name of this property?
Also, is it possible to not use self-generate certificate on server. We don't want any kind of encryption for SQL connections.

We are in the process of configuring a j2ee application with SQL Server 2005. We have downloaded the new version of SQL Server 2005 Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) Driver 1.0.
We are having some issues in getting it to work using the XA datasource. Description of the error is as follows:

First off I understand that it is a horrible idea to run extremely large/long running reports, but sometimes it ends up being the best possible solution due to external forces.
I've got a 25,000 page report that we recently converted from crystal reports to SSRS. The SSRS server is a 64bit 2003 server with 32 gigs of ram running SSRS 2005. When running the report through the report manager web application, it renders in the browser/viewer after about 12 minutes. Exporting to pdf through the browser/viewer in the report manager takes an additional 55 minutes. It does work and it produces a whopping 1.03gb pdf.
Unfortunately, I've run into a problem when trying to do this from a console application using the SSRS client API. After about 30-35 minutes I get an exception on the client with the following error:
Exception Message: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive.

Here are some things I've tried so far:
set the HttpRuntime ExecutionTimeout value to 3 hours on the report server
disabled http keep alives on the report server
increased the script timeout on the report server
set the report to never time out on the server
set the report timeout to several hours on the client call
Disabled antivirus on the client side, and verified there was no antivirus running on the reporting server.
Tried using default credentials in the ReportingService object as opposed to supplying credentailsAny ideas would be appreciated. I understand the best solution is to split the report up into smaller reports, which is the backup option, but being able to keep it as one report is the goal.
