Hi,
My code worked fine before i placed "SqlTransaction" command in my code. Now it is showing "Unexpected existing transaction." Please tell me where I am going wrong.
My Code:
I have programmatically created a SqlConnection that begins a SqlTransaction. During the first part of this SqlTransaction, the contents of a table are deleted. The next part uses the SqlBulkCopy object to copy data from another database (in the form of a DataTable). The delete goes through fine, but the SqlBulkCopy always generates a SqlException with the message "Unexpected existing transaction." I cannot think of anything I am doing wrong. The code looks at an XML file for instructions on each transaction. Each transaction is composed of tasks. Each task will pull data from a different type of database (MVR.Command is a Factory Database object). Please view the code below and tell me if you can spot what I am doing wrong: using (SqlConnection destinationConnection = new SqlConnection(MVR.ConnectionSource.GetConnectionString(destinationServiceName))) { destinationConnection.Open();
using (SqlTransaction transaction = destinationConnection.BeginTransaction(IsolationLevel.Snapshot, "Transport")) { transaction.Save("Beginning");
int totalTasks = 0; int successfulTasks = 0;
foreach (XmlNode taskNode in transactionNode.SelectNodes("Tasks/Task")) { totalTasks += 1;
try { // Prepare the destination table (delete everything) int rowsDeleted = new SqlCommand("delete from " + destinationTablename, destinationConnection, transaction).ExecuteNonQuery();
using (SqlBulkCopy bulkCopy = new SqlBulkCopy(destinationConnection)) { bulkCopy.DestinationTableName = destinationTablename;
// Based on the success of all tasks, either commit or rollback if (successfulTasks == totalTasks) { transaction.Commit(); } else { transaction.Rollback(); } }
I'm currently receiving the following error message whilst attempting to install SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition on Windows Server 2003 (32 Bit): Error 29528. The setup has encountered an unexpected error while Installing performance counters. The error is: The system cannot find the file specified.
This server already has an install of SQL Server 2000 as the default instance. I'm attempting to install a new named instance of SQL Server 2005.

You can ignore this and it will complete the installation, but subsequently trying to patch with SP2 will fail on the same sections - Hotfix.exe crashes whilst attempting to patch Database Services, Integration Services and Client Components (3 separate crashes).
I've removed SQL Server 2005 elements and tried to re-install, but it's not improved the situation.
I am attempting to install SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition onto a Windows XP Pro SP2 machine, but unfortunately each time that I attempt to install I receive an error message in the summary log as follows:
Product : Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Product Version: 9.00.1399.06 Install : Failed Log File : C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90Setup Last Action : InstallFinalize Error String : The setup has encountered an unexpected error while Updating Installed Files. The error is : Fatal error during installation. Error Number : 29528
There is probably a simple solution for the issue but unfortunately I am unaware of what it is? I can€™t tell if the issue is specific to registry settings, security, file types, etc€¦ The information below surrounds the error w/in the log, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated?

I've got this error coming up while running the sql job for AS processing. I can't find anything about it on google or anywhere else. Has anyone had issues like this?

First off I understand that it is a horrible idea to run extremely large/long running reports, but sometimes it ends up being the best possible solution due to external forces.
I've got a 25,000 page report that we recently converted from crystal reports to SSRS. The SSRS server is a 64bit 2003 server with 32 gigs of ram running SSRS 2005. When running the report through the report manager web application, it renders in the browser/viewer after about 12 minutes. Exporting to pdf through the browser/viewer in the report manager takes an additional 55 minutes. It does work and it produces a whopping 1.03gb pdf.
Unfortunately, I've run into a problem when trying to do this from a console application using the SSRS client API. After about 30-35 minutes I get an exception on the client with the following error: Exception Message: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive. InnerException = Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
Here is the api call:
Code Snippet
byte[] m_data = reportingService.Render(this.ReportPath, this.ExportFormat, null, deviceInfo, selectedParameters, null, null, out encoding, out m_mimeType,
out usedParameters, out warnings, out streamIds); Here are some things I've tried so far:
set the HttpRuntime ExecutionTimeout value to 3 hours on the report server disabled http keep alives on the report server increased the script timeout on the report server set the report to never time out on the server set the report timeout to several hours on the client call Disabled antivirus on the client side, and verified there was no antivirus running on the reporting server. Tried using default credentials in the ReportingService object as opposed to supplying credentailsAny ideas would be appreciated. I understand the best solution is to split the report up into smaller reports, which is the backup option, but being able to keep it as one report is the goal.
I'm getting this when executing the code below. Going from W2K/SQL2k SP4 to XP/SQL2k SP4 over a dial-up link.
If I take away the begin tran and commit it works, but of course, if one statement fails I want a rollback. I'm executing this from a Delphi app, but I get the same from Qry Analyser.

I'm installing SQL Server 2005 on Windows Server 2003 R2. When installing the support files for the SQL installation I receive the following error message:

I created a few DTS packages in our Test Server saving them as file.dts. When I try to open them in from the production server I get an Unexpected error and the DTS is not opened. Do you have any fresh idea for me, please? Thanks!! :)
I posted this to microsoft.public.sqlserver.programming, but no onecould answer my question. So I think it is a good place to re-post myquestion here.My question:I found that if you do not include any effective SQL statement betweenBEGIN/END block, SQL Server 2000 Query Analyzer will think it is anerror:Server: Msg 156, Level 15, State 1, Line 6Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'end'.if 1=1select getdate()elsebegin--select 'ok'endIs this behavior a SQL standard or simply a M$ standard glitch?
I have W2K Adv, SQL 7 Enterprise in a workgroup with mixed security. The SQL installation is an almost entirely default install.
At the console, in SQL Enterprise Manager, when I select open a database, open tables, select a table, open table, and select all rows the system displays "an unexpected error happened during this operation". As far as I know this has never worked on this installation.
The error occurs with every logon account (including sa and local administrator accounts), both the "all rows or top row" options, every table, every database (including the customers database and the Northwind database).
I have tried adding administrators and accounts as users of the databases etc. and given the accounts all the permissions I can dream up.
There are no interesting messages in the event viewer. The SQL agent is running.
Technet found two documents but not related to the problem.
I can run SQL Analyzer and run "select * from table_name". That works on the Northwind and customer database tables - every time.
Colleagues with other installations do not get the error, and their systems return the rows correctly.
Hiwhen i right click table and click design table then error occured(an unexpected error occured during this operation)If any one knows please let let me know your help would be appreciated .thankspardhi--Message posted via http://www.sqlmonster.com
How do I get a new table added to a transaction publication with R/O subscribers? Is it not possible to add new tables without completely drop and recreating the publication?
I've developed some DTS packages on SQL 7.0, transfering data from SQL 7.0 to Oracle 8.1.6. Until a few day's ago, everthing worked fine. From my client workstation I was able to edit, test and run these DTS packs. But then, (after installing Oracle reports) it stop working. I've already re-installed SQL 7.0 + SP3, Oracle 8.1.6 client, NT 4.0 service pack 6, nothing works.
I always get the message :
HResult of 0x8000405(-2147467259) returned Unexpected error occurred, An error result was returned without an error message
I'm not sure if this one should be addresses to the data mining team or the analysis services team, but I first encountered this error while attempting to process a Naive Bayes mining model that has a column with only a couple of distinct values in it. I set the discretization method for the column to clusters and then tried to process the model. The processing completed with failures and complained that the column had too few distinct values to apply the selected discretization.
I have now also noticed that when I attempt to process an OLAP cube that has the same column as a measure group in it the cube processing fails with the following error:
[Analysis Services Execute DDL Task] Error: Internal error: An unexpected error occurred (file 'mddiscretizer.cpp', line 1532, function 'MDDiscretizer::GetBucketForValue').

Hi all, Our application that uses Reporting Services for it's Reports. On one customers build it appears to keep falling over. Restarting the server seems to resolve the problem for a short period and then it happens again. I doubt that the disk is full as our database is sitting on the same drive and presumably the whole system would have stopped working by now.
Any thoughts as to what the problem might be? We've not seen this before.
I have a DTS package in SQL Server 2000 which brings together data from different sources, including from an Analysis Servcies cube, and compares it. Usually this runs perfectly, but sometimes I get an unexpected internal error from the Data Pump task which queries the cube - no other information, just the error.
This is usually when I have run the package once (manually from Enterprise Manager), then changed a global variable and run it again.
The cube it is querying is a virtual cube and the measures are calculated cells (NOT calculated members).
I am using snapshot replication to copy data from one database to another. I truncate the destination table first. The publisher and the subscriber are different databases on the same server. The data turns into 1 unrecognizable row.
Here is what the source table looks like: displayTypeID, displayType 1, Title List Formats 2, Title Details 3, Title List Export 4, Pricing Notes 5, clone Mask 001 6, clone Mask 002 7, clone Mask 004 8, clone Mask 008 9, hide From Admin 10, not Common Attr 11, Insert Title 12, title Types
The resulting data looks like this: DisplayType, displayTypeId , 1660953600 I see no errors in replication and nothing in the source table looks like bad data that could cause such a malady. I see the problem on two different servers now and identified the source of the problem, the column order is reversed in the source and destination tables. The data types do not even match so I would at the very least expect an error from bcp.
I am trying to install SQl Server 2005 SP2 but it was throwing an unexpected error when trying to install "setup support files".

I have Visual Web Developer worked on my computer, but I can't make SQL Server work for data-driven. I have uninstalled and install VWD from http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/downloads/default.aspx , the same Error message...... "..unexpected fail to install SQL server...", the copy of Summary.txt as below:

I have a distributed environment with SQL Server 2005 SP2 (RTM) running on one server. This server holds the databases for SharePoint and Reporting Services. I then have SharePoint 3.0 (32-bit version) with the reporting services add-in installed on a second server. I installed the sharepoint object model (64-bit version) on the database server as suggested and have configured Reporting Services to use domain user accounts. The Reporting Services configuration tool is reporting that integration has been successfully set up but I am unable to access the "Set Server Defaults" page without an error. This is the error I receive:
An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode.
I want to import data from excel (1.2 million rows in 1 sheet) to SQL Server 2014 database. I am using SQL Server 2014 Import Export Data functionality and getting this error - unexpected unrecoverable error.
3 buttons beside it - abort, retry, ignore - all having the import export to close.
But I could successfully import data from excel file having less rows (150000 rows)
I was trying an edition upgrade from SQL 2005 standard x64 to SQL 2005 enterprise x64 using the "setup SKUUPGRADE=1" from the command line. The SO is W2003 server R2 enterprise and I have a SQL clustered environment with 2 nodes (active/passive).
I select to upgrade the SQL module and I mark the checkbox for the cluster installation. The installation seems to work properly untill setup is doing the task "removing backup files". Then 2 "unexpected error" message appears as follows. The 2 above windows appear when you click on the help icon.

The following is the end of the SQL setup log file:
OS: Windows XP (SP2) App: MS Access 2003 (SP2) DB: MS SQL 2000 (SP4, 2040)
User is using MS Access linked table to query database (using ODBC). User can open the query in MS Access. However when the user goes to export the data to MS Excel format, the user receives the error message:
"Unexpected Error from External Database Driver (22)."
A trace on the db, reveals that the user process is attempting to log in to the server as 'Admin'. However, when the query with the linked table is first opened, the user is prompted for username/password (non Windows authentication).
Any ideas? I googled and found some stuff, but nothing directly related and most of what I found was supposedly fixed with SP1.
For a long time I've had SQL Server 2000 with RS on a Server2003 machine. When I want to publish a report from my Dev box, I remove anon. access on the Production machine, deploy the report, then go into report manager to tweak a couple of parameters. I then re-enable anon. access so users can continue.
Yesterday, I removed anon. access and deployed the report but when I went into Report Manager I received the above error message... "The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive."
I can get into report manager with anonymous access enabled, but I don't have authority to do anything.
What's happened!!!? More importantly, how do I fix it?
I got this error message during SQL Server Express install with no error code on Server 2003 SP1. I'm installing on an older development machine and although I do have a very large log file somewhere I wanted to post before I even dug into it. I noticed in IIS under my Webs that the MSSQLExpress webs were there at first but when I clicked on them to get any info or Properties... they dissapeared. So they were almost installed but they no longer exist. Also I do not have a SQL Service Manager icon down near the clock.
I almost took a step to fix this. After reading a few posts about similar problems I thought maybe this happened because the Default Web Sites IP # was not set to (All Unassigned). I was going to try a repair install from Add/Remove Programs but the temporary setup files are already gone. I really dont want to uninstall all 5 SQL components from Add/Remove Programs and start from scratch.
As good security practice we usually remove the Default Web or as in this development servers case we changed the IP from (All Unassigned) to an IP that is only accessible from certain machines on the internal network. I obviously should have read more pre setup guides. Anyway how can I fix this without reinstalling everything?
I'm getting the following error from a few hosts that are querying a db in SQL Server 2005. The error has occurred while executing various queries that we would expect to return various sized result sets (from a couple rows to a couple million rows). Many hosts have never experienced the error but it is occurring fairly frequently on a couple.
using Windows Server 2003 on both the jdbc client and the DB host.
using jdbc driver from sqljdbc_1.1
netstat doesnt increment the TCP connection reset count after this error occurs.
using standard sql server authentication.

I'm receiving the below error when trying to implement Execute SQL Task.
"The ROLLBACK TRANSACTION request has no corresponding BEGIN TRANSACTION." This error also happens on COMMIT as well and there is a preceding Execute SQL Task with BEGIN TRANSACTION tranname WITH MARK 'tran'
I know I can change the transaction option property from "supported" to "required" however I want to mark the transaction. I was copying the way Import/Export Wizard does it however I'm unable to figure out why it works and why mine doesn't work.
