Download/ Uninstall Problem: Error Indicating Corrupt File

Oct 13, 2007

I hope someone can help me here. Here is some background.

As I was attempting to download SQL Express, the download dialog box timed out. When I x-ed out of the download, Windows XP Professional 2002 threw up an error message indicating that the dialog box was non-responsive, and I elected to close it.

I downloaded SQL again successfully, and installed with no errors. I then attempted to create a new db through Visual Web Developer. Instead of creating a database, Visual Studio returned an error saying that I did not allow for new database objects, and that I should change my permission settings. I could not figure out how to do this, so I uninstalled SQL Express.

After re-starting, I got the following message: €œYour SQL Server Installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with (could not open SQLEVN70.RLL). Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this option.€?

I uninstalled MS SQL again from the Add/Delete Programs on my Control Panel. On re-start, I received the same error again. On my Programs list, MS SQL is not present, there are several MS SQL files in the path C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server.

So I located the Visual Studio uninstall tool and attempted to run it. I received the same error: €œYour SQL Server Installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with (could not open SQLEVN70.RLL). Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this option.€?

Any ideas on how to uninstall the files in my program files so I can load a clean copy of SQL?

HELP: How To Avoid Ridiculous System Resource Issues When Connecting To A Huge Excel File

Sep 20, 2007

Hi all,

I have a 400MB Excel file that I consume from another automated process (don't ask). I copy this file down locally to my server, and I am attempting to create an SSIS package that points to this file via a connection manager. My computer starts gobbling up massive amounts of memory (devenv.exe gets up to about 800MB or so, then drops back down to 100MB) even when I attempt to rename the connection in the connection managers tab.

I have set all BypassPrepare to TRUE and ValidateExternalMetadata properties to FALSE, and still it can take up to 3 to 6 minutes for BI Dev Studio to respond. My specs:

Intel Centrino Duo 2.00 GHz
2GB RAM
XP Pro SP2

There MUST be a way for me to work effectively on a file of this size. Please help! Thanks much for any assistance.

Sincerely,

Brian Pulliam

SQL Startup Produces Resource Manager Error

Oct 26, 2007

We have two instances of SQL Server 2005 - SP1 installed on one server. The default instance starts very slowly. When looking at the log I can see the delay is due to Resource Manager based upon the following error.

Message
Resource Manager Creation Failed: 0x8004d102(XACT_E_DUPLICATE_GUID)

What does this mean?

What would cause this to happen?

How do I resolve the problem?

Thanks, Dave

I am uploading a text file to a MS SQL 2000 database using an ODBC driver.  Here is the code:
 <code>
FileUpload1.SaveAs(fpath + "" + fn)
litStep1.Visible = TrueDim FieldCount As Int16
Dim FileType As Int16Dim cmd As SqlCommand
Dim dr As SqlDataReaderDim conn2 As OdbcConnection
Dim dr2 As OdbcDataReader
Dim cmd2 As OdbcCommand
conn2 = New OdbcConnection("Driver={Microsoft Text Driver (*.txt; *.csv)};Dbq=" + fpath + ";Extended Properties='text;HDR=YES;FMT=Delimited'")
conn2.ConnectionTimeout = 200
cmd2 = New OdbcCommand("Select top 5 * from [" + fn + "] ", conn2)
cmd2.CommandType = CommandType.Text
cmd2.CommandTimeout = 300
conn2.Open()
dr2 = cmd2.ExecuteReader()
FieldCount = dr2.FieldCount
conn2.Close()

</code>
 Before when this happened a reboot of the sql server resolved the problem.  That's not working this time and it's certainly not a practical solution.
 Any suggestions?

SQL Server Named Instance Starts Slowly - Error With Resource Manager

Oct 26, 2007

We have two instances of SQL Server 2005 - SP1 installed on one server. The default instance starts very slowly. When looking at the log I can see the delay is due to Resource Manager based upon the following error.

Resource Manager Creation Failed: 0x8004d102
(XACT_E_DUPLICATE_GUID)

What does this mean?

What would cause this to happen?

How do I resolve the problem?

Thanks, Dave

Connecting To An Access DB Using Linked Server Gives The Error, System Resource Exceeded

Oct 18, 2007

I am using SQL 2000 (Standard Edition, SP4) and have created a linked server to access a Access MDB file. When I run a simple query against that server, I get the error:

Server: Msg 7399, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
OLE DB provider 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' reported an error.
[OLE/DB provider returned message: System resource exceeded.]
OLE DB error trace [OLE/DB Provider 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' ICommandText::Execute returned 0x80004005: ].

I am able to connect to this same Access MDB file from another SQL server (SQL 2000 Enterprise Edition, SP4). I have compared the two servers and they both have the same version of MDAC (2.8) and the same version of the Jet OLE DB Provider.

Any idea why this would work from one server and not from the other. Also, I was able to perform the same queries from the first server a week back.

Thanks in advance for you help.

Urgent Help Please!!!!! Error Trying To Uninstall RS Sql 2k5

Jan 11, 2006

Hello,

One of our lovely NA's decided to remove IIS and the reinstall it while RS was installed before trying to uninstall RS. So RS broke. We then tried to uninstall RS to start over and get this error:

The setup failed to read IIsMimeMap table. The error code is -2147024893

Anyone have a work around to get us to uninstall RS? This way we can install IIS 6.0 from scratch and try to install RS afterwards. Thanks.

SQL Express 2005 + CU5 Uninstall Error

Apr 25, 2008

Hello

I wonder if someone could help me.

I am currenltly working on a scripted install of SQL 2005 Express SP2 with Cumulative update 5 and am experiencing some very frustrating problems.

I need to provide the ability to script the install and script the deinstall, both of which are fine. However..

When i try to uninstall SQL from the script (or manually from add/remove programs) i get the following error

The installer has encountered an unexpected error. The error code is 2709. The specified Component name ('SxSComp.42B34EA79EE84812AF478E608EA6C2F8') not found in Component table.

The error occurs when the SQL 2005 uninstaller attempts to uninstall the workstation components, the result is a partial uninstall of SQL 2005 which becomes very difficult to uninstall.

Would appreciate any assistance anyone could provide me.

Thanks

WMI Error (not Install/uninstall -- Performance Monitor Derived Class)

Jul 28, 2006

Trying to use WMI to monitor a SQLExpress DB and not getting anywhere. In fact, wmiprvse.exe croaks.

Here's the query I'm running from within CIM Studio:
select * from Win32_PerfRawData_MSSQLSQLEXPRESS_MSSQLSQLEXPRESSDatabases

(Just did a search for SQL and found this class)

When trying to get an instance, WMIPRVSE throws this exception:
The exception unknown software exception (0xc000000d) occurred int he application at location 0x7814454d.

Ok to that, then another msgBox shows up with a title of

"Multiview Message" and text as below:
Win32: The remote procedure call failed.
An error occurred while attempting to retrieve the list of objects.

Any suggestions on this would be appreciated. Or perhaps another WMI class to use?

(XP Pro SP2, current with the patches; SQLExpress and MSDE both running)

thanks

SQL Output A XML File To My Local Machine

Mar 17, 2008

Hi, i wondered if anyone could help me with my stored procedure.
It updates a table with users messageboard and saves the Title, Line 1, Line 2 and so on into a XML thats stored in the column named XML_Data.

How can i then output this xml to a file on my local machine?

T-SQL :-

ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[prUpdateMessageBoardVetted]

(PARAMS GO HERE)

UPDATE CustomerData
SET Title = @Title,

Line1 = @Line1,
Line2 = @Line2,

Line3 = @Line3,
Line4 = @Line4,

Line5 = @Line5,
Line6 = @Line6,

XmlFileName = @XmlFileName,
FlashFileName = @FlashFileName,

HtmlFileName = @HtmlFileName,
Vetted = @Vetted,

ClientName = @ClientName
WHERE

(UserRef = @original_UserRef)

END

BEGIN

IF @Vetted = 1

DECLARE @xmlData AS XML

SET @xmlData = (SELECT
UserRef,

Title,

Line1,

Line2,

Line3,

Line4,

Line5,

Line6

FROM dbo.CustomerData
WHERE (UserRef = @original_UserRef) FOR XML RAW('Message'), ELEMENTS)

SELECT @xmlData

UPDATE [dbo].[CustomerData]
SET

XML_Data = @xmlData
WHERE

(UserRef = @original_UserRef)

(THEN HERE DO SOME SORT PROCEDURE TO OUTPUT @xmlData to a XML FILE ON MY LOCAL MACHINE,

BUT ALSO NAME THE XML FILE VIA @XmlFileName BY DOING SOME SORT OF CONCANTENATION)

any ideas?

Thanks in advance !

Add Sdf File To My Project When All My Sources Are On Remote Machine

Sep 3, 2007

I posted this question in the past and did not get any answer.
I put all my sources on a remote server mainly for backup purposes (the remote server is backuped every day) but when I have the .sdf file I can not open it from the visual studio 2005 configuration server here is the description of the problem:
I have an application that runs on a PDA and manage a database (.sdf) file I use C# with visual studio 2005
What I want to do is to add the database file (.sdf) to my project files and open a connection to it.
The problem is that all my source file are stored on remote machine and not locally on my machine and the .sdf file is also stored with the project source files.
When I try to add the file to the project I get the following error fro the data source configuration wizard :

"An error occured while retrieving the information from the database"

DRIVE_REMOTE
Parameter Name : N:

I get the same error also when I try to open a new connection to the file from the server explorer. When i copy the file to drive "C:" I can open a connection to it with no errors.

Export To Flat File Using T-SQL And Import To Another Machine

Jan 9, 2008

Hi,

I need to export some data from SQL 2005 to a flat file, The data and flat file names will be dynamic and will be be fired programaticaly so I can't use DTS or SSIS.

In SQL2000 I did it using bcp, but that's quite a security hole so I don't want to use external utilities. I'll need to do something similar on another machine to import the data as well.

I find it strange there's no easy way to do this!

Thanks.

Error 26 On A Local Machine

Aug 13, 2007

I am getting the "Error Locating Server/Instance Specified" message. The part I find most confusing is that I am connecting to my database locally. I have read the recommendations on the blog posted here:

http://blogs.msdn.com/sql_protocols/archive/2007/05/13/sql-network-interfaces-error-26-error-locating-server-instance-specified.aspx

and implemented them to no avail. The confusing part is that I only have this problem on one particular application, which I am not the original author of. When I build my connection to the very same server (different database) using the Data Source configuration wizard, it works just fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

SQL Sever 2005 Write XML Data Stored In A Table Out To A XML File On My Local Machine

Mar 16, 2008

Hello All
Just wondered if someone could help me with a bit of T-SQL, i have a application in ASP.NET/VB that allows the user to update a message board by clicking a button "update" this in turn triggers my Stored Procedure for inserting this data into a table, which works great.
It inserts the data into its respective fields and also takes The Title, Line 1, Line 2 and so on and creates a XML file  (Using FOR XML) which is stored in the same Table under a column call XML_Data. Which again works great.
My problem now is how do i output this XML_Data to an actual XML file that is on my local machine, i.e. It be created in say C:Inetpubwwwrootxmlfiles("xml file name inserted here from another column that holds xml file name").xml
Any help on this would be greatfully apreciated
 Thanks In Advance

Ssis Package Hangs On Script Transformation When Running On One Machine Not Developing Machine

May 4, 2007

Help!
I am using Script Transformation to output a new column as image[DT_IMAGE]
field to store serialized object. In the VB script, the sample code as

Row.serializedobject.AddBlobData ( binaryArrayReturnedFromC#dll )

The package always runs fine on my developing machine and will halt on other
machine at AddBlobData after certain number row records were processed. I am
stuck here. Anyone has any suggestion?

What I need is reading data from mutiple tables in one database and writing
into a single table in another datable. In order preserve all the columns
data, I use input column fields to construct a new object and then serialize
it, and store the serialize data into detination db table. (The object and
serialization function is coming from c# dll.)

Dim b As BusinessLicense = New BusinessLicense()
b.ApprovalDate = Row.approvaldate
b.BusinessId = Row.busid
b.BusinessName = Row.busname
b.NaicsCode = Row.naicscode
b.NaicsDescription = Row.naicsdescr
b.OwnerName = Row.ownername
b.Phone = Row.phone
b.Pkey = Row.pkey
b.RenewalDate = Row.renewaldate
b.StartDate = Row.startdate
b.Suite = Row.suite

Row.serializedobject.AddBlobData(Serializer.Serialize(b)) '''----This is blocking line
Row.infoType = BusinessLicense.TYPE

Both machine is xp with sp2. and standard SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.1399.06

Thanks!

When Trying To Attach SQL DB To The Server Machine It Gets Error

Oct 29, 2007

I have done this many times in the past but now I am seeing a error when I try to move my db from my local machine to the server and try to re attach it.  The error I am receiving is:

Connection Pool Leak In Production Machine (in Other Machine It Runs Well)

Nov 16, 2006

Hi to everyone,
I'm facing a problem that drives me crazy. I've a web application that has the following problem. When I test the application on my developement machine all runs fine, but when I put into production server there is a problem in connection pooling. Look at the following image, the blue line is the number of connection in the pool and the violet line is the number of connection reclaimed. From the image it is clear that connection are returned on the pool only in block, maybe when the garbage collection pass and reclaim the object. The strange thing is that on my developement machine all is good, and also I'm using Enterprise Library and the connection are managed internally.- Thanks to everyone for any help.
