i need to update my sql from excel sheet. but my excel sheet must be open all time, coz it connected with server to update value into this excel sheet.
and i put this code in calc event into this excel sheet:

but this code ask me to close excel sheet to complete update data into SQL server.
i cant close file cose it updated all time.
so please i want to know how can i do update data while excel file is open ????
I have a foreach loop that is processing all .xls files then moving them to a processed directory.Problem is that when I try to open the original file which is in .xls 97-2003 format, it's giving me a file error that SSIS could not read. Found out the problem was called Extension Hardening. I fixed it in the registry according to a website I found and I thought about writing a Batch file or Script to handle it, however SSIS still can't read unless I open and "save-as" to another format. It even works if I still save it in 97-2003 format just has to be a different file.How can I open and resave the files (all excel files in directory through a loop) and rename them the same?
For example: Original file named "ABCDEFG_08_15_2015.xls"
Can I loop through all files in the directory and name each one differently say "REVISED_ABCDEFG_08_15_2015.xls" so I can read them through SSIS?I think I need a @filename variable or something for that..
I have a package which has an Excel source with the 'Data access mode' set to SQL command and then a sql select statement. When I try and hit the 'Preview...' button below the 'SQL command text' window I get the following error:
"Error at Standard Data Flow Tasks [source tasks name]: No column information was returned by the SQL command"
Ordinarily this would be down to the fact that my SQL is shocking, I hit the 'Preview...' button whilst the workbook the source is pointing at was open and it works fine??
I can't figure this out, but needless to say the package errors with a NEEDSNEWMETADATA when I try and run it.

I am new to Sql Server and all the DBA stuff. My boss wants me to export a folder containing excel sheet data to sql server table . i'm making a merge join on a excel source whit a Sql Server 2005 (OLE DB). So i must configure buffer properties in the merge?

Am not able to export more than 10 lakh records to excel sheet(2007 xlsx). I'll get sucess message but all data will not get copy to excel sheet .I have tried through import wizard in sql server and also directly copy and paste to excel sheet.
I have one query which is pulling Balance sheet amounts from SAP Business One database. The query is giving the correct figures for the rest of the accounts except for the VAT Input refundable account 123600 and VAT Output Payable account 221400. I get the below error only when my IDE open. It connects well when it is found closed. [SqlException (0x80131904): Cannot open user default database. Login failed.Login failed for user 'JPASPNET'.] I could solve this by giving the logged in windows user to impersonate under IIS window > WEBSITE > ASP.NET tab > EDIT CONFIG > APPLICATION tab But I wish someone could give me the proper solution. I got an approach like that: 1) Read something from DB - check the value, if true stop if false go on2) Read the second Value (another SQL Statement) - check the value etc. Now I could open the connection at 1) and if I have to go to 2) I leave the connection open and use the same connection at 2). Is it ok to do that? The other scenario would be opening a connection at 1), immediately close it after I read the value and open a new connection at 2). Thanks for the input!
Post installation of SQL Server 2014 Express edition, I am able to connect to the Database Instance.
But while opening a new query window in SSMS or opening a table getting the error:

Which tool can I use for structure editing of SQL Server Compact 3.5 databases? I'm installed SQL Server Compact 3.5. I have SQL Server Management Studio Express which was installed with SQL Server 2005 Express. Unfortunately this SSMS can create and open only 3.1 databases.

What settings or whatever would cause this to take so much longer from the linked server?
Edit: Note) Other queries from the linked server do not have this behavior. From the stored procedure where we have examined how long each query/update takes... this particular query is the culprit for the time eating. I thought it was to do specefically with this table. However as stated when a query window is opened directly onto that server the update takes no time at all.
2nd Edit: Could it be to do with this linked server setting? Collation Compatible right now it is set to false? I also asked this question in a message below, but figured I should put it up here.
I am hoping someone can shed light on this odd behavior I am seeing running a simple UPDATE statement on a table in SQL Server 2000. I have 2 tables - call them Table1 and Table2 for now (among many) that need to have certain columns updated as part of a single transaction process. Each of the tables has many columns. I have purposely limited the target column for updating to only ONE of the columns in trying to isolate the issue. In one case the UPDATE runs fine against Table1... at runtime in code and as a manual query when run in QueryAnalyzer or in the Query window of SSManagementStudio - either way it works fine. However, when I run the UPDATE statement against Table2 - at runtime I get rowsaffected = 0 which of course forces the code to throw an Exception (logically). When I take out the SQL stmt and run it manually in Query Analyzer, it runs BUT this is the output seen in the results pane... (0 row(s) affected) (1 row(s) affected) How does on get 2 answers for one query like this...I have never seen such behavior and it is a real frustration ... makes no sense. There is only ONE row in the table that contains the key field passed in and it is the same key field value on the other table Table1 where the SQL returns only ONE message (the one you expect) (1 row(s) affected) If anyone has any ideas where to look next, I'd appreciate it. If I have a table with 1 or more Nullable fields and I want to make sure that when an INSERT or UPDATE occurs and one or more of these fields are left to NULL either explicitly or implicitly is there I can set these to non-null values without interfering with the INSERT or UPDATE in as far as the other fields in the table?

If an INSERT looks like any of the following what can I do to change the NULL being assigned to DateAdded to a real date, preferable the value of GetDate() at the time of the insert? I've heard of INSTEAD of Triggers but I'm not trying tto over rise the entire INSERT or update just the on (maybe 2) fields that are being left as null or explicitly set to null. The same would apply for any UPDATE where DateModified is not specified or explicitly set to NULL. I would want to change it so that DateModified is not null on any UPDATE.

I kept getting "Can't open SQL server" when I tried running Crystal report from SMS In SQL Enterprise Manager, Edit Registration properties, Use Window NT authentication is checked. What account should be used in SMS to generate SMS crystal report. I appreciate any advice?
I'm new to this forum. This 'problem' has occured many times, but I've always found a way around it. I have pages with datagrids, in which a user can edit a certain fields and then update the tables with new data. Lets say when a user edit a Name field and a money field. If he/she left those two fields blank, the table is automatically updated with a <null> (for the name field) and a 0 (for the money field.) Both these columns were set up to allow Null values. Anyone has an idea why they were updated that way? And is there like a standard on how the data types are updated if a field is left blank? Thank you very much.

I am trying to assist a client who had a sql server app on a computer that crashed. All that is left is the MDF files. Is there anyway to open/ export these files without having SQL server?
