Hi, there;
I created a SSIS package in a ASP.NEP application which importing data from some .dbf file. "Exception from HRESULT: 0xC0048004" happened to two tables. I had a look this exception at http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345164.aspx, it says: The index is not valid. But there is no index defined in my destination table.
Does anybody how to resolve it?
Thanks

hi all,
I am using SSIS package to transfer data from 4 tables of one Server to another server(Using SQLConnection).
All works fine while runinng in Debug mode.
But while running the application(Which calls SSIS and creates Pacakage),it is creating only one package instead of creating 4 and resulting in error.
"Exception from Hresult:0xc0202009"
Please help me to solve this issue.

Hi,
I write a custom component (destination component) that handle the error of my dataflow.
The custom component works fine on design time and runtime by using BIDS.
When I'm using the same package that use my custom component with DTEXEC,
I got the following error :
System.Exception: AcquireConnections : Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131904
at SSISGenerator.SSISErrorHandler.ErrorHandlerDestination.AcquireConnections(
Object transaction)
at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Pipeline.ManagedComponentHost.HostAcquireConnectio
ns(IDTSManagedComponentWrapper90 wrapper, Object transaction)
The error message point out that the problem is in acquireconnections method.
This is the code i'm using in my custom component for the acquireconnections method.
public override void AcquireConnections(object transaction)
{
try
{
if (ComponentMetaData.RuntimeConnectionCollection[0].ConnectionManager != null)
{
ConnectionManager cm = Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.DtsConvert.ToConnectionManager(ComponentMetaData.RuntimeConnectionCollection[0].ConnectionManager);
ConnectionManagerAdoNet cmado = cm.InnerObject as ConnectionManagerAdoNet;
if (cmado == null)
throw new Exception(String.Format(MSG_ACQUIRECONNECTIONS_ADONET,cm.Name));
this.sqlConnection = cmado.AcquireConnection(null) as SqlConnection;
if (this.sqlConnection == null)
throw new Exception(String.Format(MSG_ACQUIRECONNECTIONS_ADONET, cm.Name));
if (sqlConnection.State != ConnectionState.Open)
this.sqlConnection.Open();
}
}
catch (Exception e)
{
throw new Exception(MSG_ACQUIRECONNECTIONS + e.Message);
}
}
Does someone got an idea ?

If I try to open a SSIS package and to check the setup of the connection I receive instead a message stating Could Not Edit OleDB Connection, error E_FAIL(0x80004005). (System.Data)
What can I do to fix this problem?

I have a very simple SSIS package which I execute from VB.NET using the ManagedDTS namespace objects. I am getting a very sporadic error saying "The script threw an exception. Object reference not set to an instance of an object"
All the package does is insert rows from a filename that I pass into the package from code, and then rename the file in a script task. The script task is what is causing this error. If I remove/disable the script task the package executes everytime without error. I have even commented out all the code that might throw an exception and it still fails atleast 3 out of 10 times. Here is my code in the script task:
Public Sub Main()
'
' Add your code here
'
Dim e As String = ""
Dim strFileName As String = ""
Dim strDestination As String = ""
Try
'strFileName = Dts.Variables("User::FileName").Value.ToString()
'strDestination = System.IO.Path.ChangeExtension(strFileName, "processed")
'If File.Exists(strFileName) Then
'System.IO.File.Move(strFileName, strDestination)
Dts.TaskResult = Dts.Results.Success
'End If
Catch ex As Exception
e = ex.Message
Dts.TaskResult = Dts.Results.Failure
End Try
'CreateControlFile(strFileName, strDestination, e)
End Sub
NOTE: I never get a package FAILURE as I would if it got into the CATCH block. I believe this is an error being generated from the Package processing engine.
Here is some output from the VB.NET application debug window:
This output's once for every "exception" thrown by each package execution.
A first chance exception of type 'System.NullReferenceException' occurred in VBAssembly
A first chance exception of type 'System.NullReferenceException' occurred in VBAssembly
A first chance exception of type 'System.IO.IOException' occurred in mscorlib.dll
Here is the code I use to execute the package:
Public Function ConsumePackage(ByVal strPath As String, ByVal strPackage As String) As Boolean
Dim bReturn As Boolean = False
Dim pkg As New Package
Dim app As New Application
Dim result As DTSExecResult = DTSExecResult.Failure
Try
pkg = app.LoadPackage(strPackage, Nothing)
Debug.Print("Executing package on file: " + strPath)
pkg.Variables("FileName").Value = strPath
result = pkg.Execute()
If result = DTSExecResult.Failure Or result = DTSExecResult.Canceled Then
For Each d As DtsError In pkg.Errors
ErrorMessage += d.ErrorCode.ToString() + d.Description.ToString() + vbCrLf
Next
Return False
End If
bReturn = True
Catch ex As Exception
bReturn = False
Finally
pkg.Dispose()
pkg = Nothing
app = Nothing
End Try
End Function

I guys,
I have this store procedure which does a bulk insert to a session table from a XML file. This store procedure used to work fine until couple of month ago and now all of the sudden it stopped working. Whenever this procedure is executed I get following error:

Hello,
I get following error trying to use SQLCMD OR OSQL
Named Pipes Provider: Could not open a connection to SQL Server [2].
Sqlcmd: Error: Microsoft SQL Native Client : An error has occurred while establi
shing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failu
re may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not
allow remote connections..
Sqlcmd: Error: Microsoft SQL Native Client : Login timeout expired.
I searched this forum for answers and I found one solution where it was said that Remote connections for TCP and Named Pipes needs to be enabled. I have them enabled, but I still get this error. I had working SQL server before, but I had to uninstall it. Now after installing ti again I started to get this error.
Anything else besides disabled remote connections cause this problem? I'm trying a local connection. I heard elsewhere that this could be firewall related, but shouldn't it use local connection always when I try to connect it with sqlcmd and no other parameters given?

Aaaaaarrgghh ! (that's better)I am trying to convert a field within my Oracle 9i Database that is oftype BLOB (but this BLOB may contain a combination of clobs/varchars orimages such as gif images, jpg images) to Microsoft SQL Server 2000using Microsoft DTS.On trying to perform this simple conversion I recieved the error "Needto run the object to perform the operation - Exception AccessViolation" from Microsoft DTS and my table that contains this BLOBfield is not converted across.After further investigation I implemented the fixes suggested by theMicrosoft Knowledge Base and "sqldts.com" but still no joy the errorkept occuring.I discovered my modifying the step in the DTS package that handled thistable conversion that contained the BLOB column that when I changed thedata type on my SQL Server target table to VARBINARY and modified thequery so that only the BLOBs that contained clobs/varchars were broughtacross that the error went away.I then proceeded to create another DTS package step that had a querythat only brought across the BLOB column that contained images such asgif images/jpeg images etc. and the error went away and the target typefor the SQL Server target table was set to IMAGE.As the data for this BLOB contains a combination of VARCHARS/CLOBS(concatanted) and also GIF IMAGES/JPEGS in the same source column withOracle 9i I require the same in my target table within SQL server asone column (and I should be able to do that with type IMAGE especiallyas it can store larger objects than VARBINARY but any source BLOBS thatcontain VARCHAR/CLOBs don't seem to want to be loaded as IMAGE theywill only load in to VARBINARY).However judging by my experiences above this doesn't seem to bepossible ?Can anyone help me out with this ?I am on Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 4 with latest MDAC(2.8.1).Cheers,Gary

I work with February CTP of SqlServer 2008.
I have an Assembly with several UDTs inside. Version of assembly is 1.0.*
I use CREATE ASSEMBLY statement to register this assembly, and it runs without any errors. Then I rebuild CLR solution without doing any changes in source code. In that case the only difference between new and old assemblies is version (difference in fourth part of version).
Then I try to update assembly in SqlServer. I use
ALTER ASSEMBLY <name>
FROM <path>
WITH PERMISSION_SET = UNSAFE, UNCHECKED DATA
statement for this. Statement runs with error:
Msg 6509An error occurred while gathering metadata from assembly €˜<Assembly name>€™ with HRESULT 0x1.
I found the list of condition for ALTER ASSEMBLY in MSDN:
ALTER ASSEMBLY statement cannot be used to change the following:
· The signatures of CLR functions, aggregate functions, stored procedures, and triggers in an instance of SQL Server that reference the assembly. ALTER ASSEMBLY fails when SQL Server cannot rebind .NET Framework database objects in SQL Server with the new version of the assembly.
· The signatures of methods in the assembly that are called from other assemblies.
· The list of assemblies that depend on the assembly, as referenced in the DependentList property of the assembly.
· The indexability of a method, unless there are no indexes or persisted computed columns depending on that method, either directly or indirectly.
· The FillRow method name attribute for CLR table-valued functions.
· The Accumulate and Terminate method signature for user-defined aggregates.
· System assemblies.
· Assembly ownership. Use ALTER AUTHORIZATION (Transact-SQL) instead.
Additionally, for assemblies that implement user-defined types, ALTER ASSEMBLY can be used for making only the following changes:
· Modifying public methods of the user-defined type class, as long as signatures or attributes are not changed.
· Adding new public methods.
· Modifying private methods in any way.
But I haven€™t done any changes in source code, so new version of assembly satisfies all this conditions.
What could be the reason for such behavior?
P.S. I€™ve got the same error, if I add or change any method in assembly before rebuilding.

Greetings everyone, I am attempting to build my first application using Microsofts Sql databases. It is a Windows Mobile application so I am using Sql Server Compact 3.5 with Visual Studio 2008 Beta 2. When I try and insert a new row into one of my tables, the app throws the error message shown in the title of this topic.
'((System.Exception)($exception)).Message' threw an exception of type 'System.NotSupportedException'
My table has 4 columns (i have since changed my FavoriteAccount datatype from bit to Integer)
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k71/Scionwest/table.jpg
Account type will either be "Checking" or "Savings" when a new row is added, the user will select what they want from a combo box.
Next is a snap shot of my startup form.
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k71/Scionwest/form.jpg
Where it says "Favorite Account: None" in the top panel, I am using a link label. When a user clicks "None" it will go to a account creation wizard, and set the first account as it's primary/favorite. As more accounts are added the user can select which will be his/her primary/favorite. For now I am just creating a sample account when the label is clicked in an attempt to get something working. Below is the code used.
private void lnkFavoriteAccount_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
FinancesDataSet.BankAccountRow account = this.financesDataSet.BankAccount.NewBankAccountRow();
account.Name = "MyBank Checking Account";
account.AccountType = "Checking";
account.Balance = Convert.ToDecimal("15.03");
account.FavoriteAccount = 1;//datatype is an integer, I have changed it since I took the screenshot.
financesDataSet.BankAccount.Rows.Add(account);
//The next three lines where added while I was trying to get this to work.
//I don't know if I really need them or not, I receive the error regardless if these are here or not.
this.bankAccountTableAdapter1.Update(financesDataSet);
this.financesDataSet.AcceptChanges();
refreshDatabase();
}
the refreshDatabase() code is here:
private void refreshDatabase()
{
this.bankAccountTableAdapter1.Fill(this.financesDataSet.BankAccount);
//Aquire a count of accounts the user has
int numAccounts = financesDataSet.BankAccount.Count;
//Loop through each account and see which one is the primary.
for (int num = 0; num != numAccounts; num++)
{
//Works ok in frmMain_Load, but when my lnkFavoriteAccount_click calls this, it throws the error.
if (this.financesDataSet.BankAccount[num].FavoriteAccount == 1)
{
//Display the primary account on our home page. User can click the link label & be taken to their account register.
this.lnkFavoriteAccount.Text = this.financesDataSet.BankAccount[num].Name.ToString();
this.lnkFavoriteFunds.Text = this.financesDataSet.BankAccount[num].Balance.ToString();
break;
}
}
}
and my form_load code
private void frmMain_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
refreshDatabase();
}
So, when I click on the lnkFavoriteAccount label, and my new row gets added, the app stops at the following line in my DataSet.Designer
[global:ystem.Diagnostics.DebuggerNonUserCodeAttribute()]
public byte FavoriteAccount {
get {
try {
return ((byte)(this[this.tableBankAccount.FavoriteAccountColumn]));
}
catch (global:ystem.InvalidCastException e) {
//Stops at the following line, this error was caused by 'if (this.financesDataSet.BankAccount[num].FavoriteAccount == 1)'
throw new global:ystem.Data.StrongTypingException("The value for column 'FavoriteAccount' in table 'BankAccount' is DBNull.", e);
}
}
set {
this[this.tableBankAccount.FavoriteAccountColumn] = value;
}
}
I have no idea what I am doing wrong, all of the code I used I retreived from Microsofts help documentation included with VS2008. I have tried used my TableAdapter.Insert() method and it still failed when it got to
if (this.financesDataSet.BankAccount[num].FavoriteAccount == 1)
in my refreshDatabase() method it still failed.
When I look, the data has been added into the database, it's just when I try to retreive it now, it bails on me. Am I retreiving the information wrong?
Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

Hi,
I got an strange problem with one of my packages.
When running the package in VisualStudio it runs properly, but if I let this package run as part of an SQL-Server Agent job, I got the message "The script threw an exception: Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown." on my log and the package ends up with an error.
Both times it is exactly the same package on the same server, so I don't know how the debug or even if there is anything I need to debug?

Hello,
I have a table for which I am iterating through using a foreach loop. On each iteration, I am updating the row with information from an SQL database. During certain cycles of the loop and SQL exception is thrown which I catch and deal with appropriately. However on the next cycle of the loop the SQL exception is still active and always goes into the section which deals with the SQL exception. I have run some tests and the SQL exception should not occur on subsequent loops, but it does.
What I am trying to say is....whenever there is an SQL exception is there anyway to clear it, or set it to null or destroy the SQL exception class. (Destructor perhaps?).

I'm running a DTS package. It is moving transferring data VERY slowly and the local disk RAID is pegged in the performance monitor. There are no entries in the SQL Server Error Log, but if I run SQL Profiler, I see many entries like:
Exception 911 Error: 911, Severity: 16, State: 1 DTS Designer
I suspect something is wrong but have no clue how to go about debugging this. Any ideas?
When I do: SELECT description FROM sysmessages WHERE error=911, I get:
Could not locate entry in sysdatabases for database '%.*ls'. No entry found with that name. Make sure that the name is entered correctly.

I am creating a report in VS 2005 SP1 (all updates applied) on a Windows 2003 Server with 8GB of RAM. When I preview the report (about 120,000 records) it locks up my machine for about 5 minutes and then gives an error:
An error occurred during local report processing.
An error has occurred during report processing.
Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.
This report has a somewhat complex query, but when I deploy the report to the server (Reporting Services 2005) it runs fine. I just hate to deploy the report each time I want to preview it. Is there a setting for VS that I can change to increase memory? Or is there something else I need to check?
Thank you for any assistance!
Bill

Hello.
Our GIS group is working with SQL Server 2005 in conjunction with ESRI's ArcGIS software. SQL Server is being used as a test bed until we formally migrate our existing Microsoft Access mdb's over. So, at this time we are conducting various tests and have the freedom to "blow up" our databases.
We are currently testing ArcSDE Workgroup edition, which will only work with SQL Server Express (SSE). SSE will let us create spatial joins and relationships, while maintaining data integrity. So one possible workaround was to detach the database from SQL Server 2005 and then attach it to SSE. Unfortunately, we ran into a problem in re-attaching the database back to SQL Server 2005.
The exact steps are as follows:
Back up database using back up tool in SQL Server 2005.
Detached database from SQL Server 2005.
Attached database to SQL Server Express (hereafter SSE).
Created a table in database while it was attached to SSE.
Detached database from SSE.
Attempt to attach database to SQL Server 2005 failed
Successfully restored database in SQL Server 2005 using Restore tool.
Step number 6 above failed and generated the following error:
TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
------------------------------
Failed to retrieve data for this request. (Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoEnum)
For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&LinkId=20476

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo)
------------------------------

For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&ProdVer=09.00.1399&EvtSrc=MSSQLServer&EvtID=5123&LinkId=20476
Questions:
Why did I get this error?
Can incorrect or missing permission or ownership settings generate this kind of error?
When should one detach/attach a database?
I welcome your assistance and suggestions.

Not sure if there's a GP 8.0 forum, so giving this one a go.
I've added an AFTER UPDATE trigger to the RM00101 table (customer master) in a Great Plains 8.0 SQL Server 2000 SP4 DB. The trigger assigns field values to variables, constructs an update query, and executes the query on a table in a linked SQL Server 2005 DB.
The trigger works fine when fired as a result of a direct field update made through Enterprise Manager. However, when the same update is made through the Great Plains GIU (customer card window), an exception error is thrown:
"Unhandled database exception:
A Save operation on table €˜RM_Customer_MSTR€™ failed accessing SQL data
EXCEPTION_CLASS_DB
DB_ERR_SQL_DATA_ACCESS_ERR€?
The odd thing is that if I drop the trigger from the RM00101 table, the exception error still occurs. Not just on the record originally updated, but on all records and all fields within the record.
Code for the trigger follows:
SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
GO
SET ANSI_NULLS ON
GO
CREATE TRIGGER CTrig_Logic_Update_Customer
