Use Alias Name As A Column - Calculate Yearly Finance Values

I'm using this query to to calculate yearly finance values.
select [Year],[FinanceValue-2014],[FinanceValue-2013],[FinanceValue-2012],[FinanceValue- 2014]-[FinanceValue-2013] as [FinanceValue Variance]
Now I need to multiply the [FinanceValue Variance] * 2.50 and for that how can I use the alias name as column in the query. I tried this but it says invalid column name.
select [Year],[FinanceValue-2014],[FinanceValue-2013],[FinanceValue-2012],[FinanceValue- 2014]-[FinanceValue-2013] as [FinanceValue Variance], [FinanceValue Variance] * 2.50 as [NewVariance] from Finance
SumofVariance output will be like 5690.5893656 Also how can I show the SumofVariance to round off 4 decimal places like this 5690.5894.

I have to calculate the Total number of days present and absent for a singel student.
AS of now i have 3 tables.
1.Daily attendance - Columns -[Guid][,AcademyId],[StudentId],[Date],[Status],[Reason]
2.Student details - Columns - [Guid],[FullName],[DOB],[Address]
3.Class Details - Columns - [Guid],[AcademyId],[Class],[Section],[Startdate],Enddate]
So now i have loaded all the data into the table.
I can fetch the counts for total present and absent
Query i have tried is

AS result of this query i get the data.Present count and Absent count from date inserted in Dailyattendance tables.
SO my problem is if the student have promoted to next class then by this query it will count the before year also how do i need to calculate the count according to the Class StartDate and Enddate as i mention in the Class Details table what will be the query.

I am trying to create a procedure which will calculate the total tuition
This process involves 3 tables.
Contract table has tuition information which is all $100 (set price).
Discount table has discount type and discount percentage (ex. 0.3) on each discount type.
ContractDiscount table have contract number and discount number to connect both tables
I think I need to create a loop since some contract gets more than one discount.
I have to calculate and get result nee to be like this
total_tuition = (tuition - discountPer * tuition) - this has to be a loop condition
Do you have any suggestion ?

Hi
I am very new to analysis services and using MDX.
I want to select data from a cube using an MDX statement and show the data on a graph report.
I want to select the daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly descriptions all in one column to make it easy to represent it on the report.
Then set the 'Date' Column to the x-axis and the Value column to the y-axis.
The user also must have the option to not show certain periods (Switch of daily and weekly)
My MDX works when I select from the SQL Management Studio but as soon as I copy the MDX over to the SSRS Report Designer is splits the daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly values into seperate columns which makes it very difficult to report on.

We have SharePoint list which has, say, two columns. Column A and Column B.
Column A can have three values - red, blue & green.
Column B can have four values - pen, marker, pencil & highlighter.
A typical view of list can be:
Column A - Column B
red - pen
red - pencil
red - highlighter
blue - marker
blue - pencil
green - pen
green - highlighter
red - pen
blue - pencil
blue - highlighter
blue - pencil
We are looking to create a report from SharePoint List using SSRS which has following view:

We tried Sum but not able to display in single row.

I have a bit of trouble getting values into one alias field, my code is below. I am trying to get values into the alias extension, Agent_ID is sometimes null, and so is agent_id2, however sometimes they both have values in them, and then only one of the values is every returned. When in the example below only Agent_ID (11111) is ever returned by I want both of them returned.

I have an SSIS package that imports data from an Excel file, replaces any value in Excel that reads "NULL" to "", then writes the data to a couple of databases.
What I have discovered today, is I have two columns of dates, an admit date and discharge date column, and what I need to do is anywhere I have a null value in the discharge date column, I have to replace it with the value in the admit date column.
I have searched around online and tried a few things using the Replace funtion in Derived columns but no dice so far.

I need help in calculating sum of market value based on property_id. The sum should be calculated by finding the average market value for a given property and then sum the individual average of the property to get the Distinct sum.
I have a very little knowlegde in Cubes and analysis services. I need to perform this distinct sum by using calculated members using MDX on SQL server 2000.

How I can calculate the 'SUM of 100' of EDSUM column for EDCOST column. Every EDCOST should have sum of 100 on the calculation of EDSUM. I just want to know which is the EDCOST which has <>sum of 100.

I'm using SQL Server 2005 and are having some troubble with sorting a paged result set. I'm using the OVER Clause to achieve the sorting and paging and have the following query:1 WITH ProjectList AS

This works fine, and give me the results i want. The problem occurs when I want to sort by "NumberOfUsers" which is the results of a sub query.When i say "ORDER BY NumberOfUsers" instead of Id on line 8, I get the following error:
Msg 207, Level 16, State 1, Line 10Invalid column name 'NumberOfUsers'.
I read this in the documentation:
When used in the context of a ranking window function, <ORDER BY Clause> can only refer to columns made available by the FROM clause. An integer cannot be specified to represent the position of the name or alias of a column in the select list. <ORDER BY Clause> cannot be used with aggregate window functions.
So this means that what I'm trying to do is not possible. How can I then sort by NumberOfUsers? Is there any other way to achieve this

Hi All,
I am currently transferring my Access application to SQL Server. Access allows you to declare and use aliases in the query at the same time.
e.g.
Select field1 as Alias1, field2 as Alias2, Alias1 & " " & Alias2 as Alias3 from table1;
In Access the above query will execute perfectly, no problem. However in SQL Server, if you try to run the same query it will give an error "Invalid column name Alias1" meaning that SQL Server is searching for Alias1 as a field in the table, not as an alias from the query.
My question is does SQL Server have a facility to declare and use alias directly as in Access and if no, is there a workaround?

I have a question.
select name, count, 1 Aa c1, 2 as c2, c1+c2 As total
from table1
From this example, the program will give out error message,
c1, and c2 are invalid columns.
In MS Access, it works. But, SQL query Analayer doesn't work this statement.
So, does query analayzer handle this case?

I have a web application where I would like to return a dynamic column name using aliasing. below is an example:

Is there a way to use a column alias in an another calculation within thesame query? I am trying to create a report in SRS that will calculate a Composite Score based on the Sum of other scores and then that Sum is divided by 12.
Here is a copy of the Query I have created to calculate the numbers I want to use, but when I create the expression in SRS the calculations don't come out correctly. The expression that I use in SRS is at the bottom of the Script.

I am building a customerlist within the customer sales of a period. I have a dataset with two tables: "customer" and "customer_ledger_entry".
In the report I will present the customer number, the customer name and the sales. The problem is the sales value is not available as a field, but I have to calculate this value from the "customer_ledger_entry" table. In this table are several entries (invoices, credit notes, etc.)
