Hi,
for some AP issue, the file I upload must be without the line feed/carriage return in the last line.
for example:
original fixed-length file (exported from SSIS)
line NO DATA
1 AA123456 50 60
2 BB123456 30 40
3 CC123456 80 90
4 <-- with line feed/carriage return in the last line
The file format that AP request. The file only has 3 records, so it should end in the third line.
line NO DATA
1 AA123456 50 60
2 BB123456 30 40
3 CC123456 80 90
Should I use script component to do it ? I am new for VB . Anyone would help me ?
Thank you all.

I want to write a small program (maybe just a stored procedure) that will save the results and column names of a simple query to CSV file. This will then be copied onto disk and distributed to user who'll use Excel or a similar package to open the CSV file.
Any suggestions as to the best way to achieve this? I was considering using a view and then BCP but I have problems then when trying to open the CSV file in excel (or other spreadsheet package). Doesn't like the datatypes and so on.
Is there a simple way to do this? And is it possible to save the results in such a way that Excel will choose the right datatypes for the columns. (not convert varchar's like '000122' to numbers.)

I am writing a string to a text file using the below code:
DECLARE @MyText nvarchar(500)
SET @MyText = 'type This is my text >> c:MyLog.txt'
exec master..xp_cmdshell @MyText
What I want to know is. how do I write multiple lines to MyLog.txt without having to call out xp_cmdshell each time I want a new line in my log? Do I use newline character in @MyText like SET @MyText = 'type This is my text line 1</n>This is line2 >> c:MyLog.txt'
Expected output:
type This is my text line 1
This is line2

I am trying to import a text file into my table.
However, the max varchar length is automatically set to 352.
It needs to be longer. Even after manually changing it, sure enough it truncates after 352.
(We put the first 16 characters into one field, and then try to get the next 800, but it only allows 352)
Any ideas?

Hello,
Using ADO to conect to a text format data file to gather data.
File is a .dat file, tab delimited, no header row.
Got all my ducks in a row:
1) Write a schema.ini
2) Make sure the extension is not excluded in the Jet Text registry key
3) Setup the connection properly (per MSDN Scripting help)
Works nicely, except the fist line of data is missing. File contains 78 rows of data, Jet is skipping the first line every time and reporting 77 rows.
Notes:
1) Adding a blank row, as suggested in this forum, is not an option - the data files are machine generated are not to be altered by other processes.
2) I could do it the old fashion way of importing and splitting into arrays, but this is a database function and ADO should be able to handle it.
Code samples:
Code Block
adoCON.Open "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" & sPath & ";Extended Properties=""text;HDR=NO;FMT=Delimited;"";"
On Error Resume Next
rsSrc.Open "Select * From " & sFile, adoCON, adOpenStatic, adLockOptimistic, adCmdText
sPath is a string containing the path, including the trailing
sFile is a string containing the file name.
Any ideas?

created a very basic flow in SSIS: extracted table data through ole db connection, added multicast and as end result i created a flat file destination (with .txt file) and a ole db destination.
My question is; how can i delete the .txt file before executing the flow again? Want to avoid that the .txt file has duplicated rows after a second execution of the flow. Is it possible to use scd component or is this way to complicated? A for each loop?
i need a similar solution for the data that will be transported through the ole db destination task....

Hello folks!
I have written a query that I need to save results of. Is there some statement that I can place at the top of my query (like we can do in Oracle through spool command) to specify the directoryfilename to save query results to? Eventually I need to schedule this to run daily via a DTS package.
Please let me know if you've come across this before?
Thanks so much!

I have created the database for that form. My question is how can I

I have cubes that hold quite a few calculations and so creating Excel pivot table views from it take a long time. This is even true for Excel 2007.
Now I wonder if it would be possible to write back all the calculation results to a relational table - maybe one that exactly matches the report format - so creating another report would be much faster?
SSRS seems to be a way to go but it does not speed up my Excel case.
I read about write-back in ROLAP and MOLAP but I don't think any of these concepts help me to really speed up my reports.
The closest thing I was able to find so far, which besides seems to do exactly what I want is Microsoft's new PerformancePoint 2007. It's just it seems overkill for my projects and the price is at $20K.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

I wonder if it is possible to run a stored procedure and save the results directly to a file in a predetermined directory
As an example I have created a (simple) stored procedure:
USE CovasCopy
GO
CREATE PROCEDURE spTryOut
(
@LastName as NVARCHAR(50)
, @FirstName AS NVARCHAR(25)
[Code] ....
What I would like to add is a (or more?) lines that save the results in a file (csv/txt/tab?)
The name I would like the file to have is "LastName, FirstName, Date query ran, time (HHMMSS?) query ran"
The directory: D:SQLServerResults

Hi,
I'm just starting off in SSIS and have a question that I can't find an answer to...
I'm loading in a number of files (in separate Data Flows) and performing some transformations on them before merging them back together. What I'm not sure about is what I should be doing with the data at the end of each of my "Import Data From XXXX Flat File" Data Flows. Am I better off using OLE DB Destinations (or SQL Server Destinations) and saving this intermediate data to temporary tables, or am I better off using a Raw File Destinations and saving this intermediate data to files? Or is there, perhaps, a better option that I'm currently unaware of?
If the Raw File Destination is the way to go, then isn't there a maintenance issue with cleaning up all the files created? And will there not be a management issue to ensure that there is sufficient disc space available on the drive you are saving to?
I'm a bit confused and overwhelmed by SSIS at the moment, so any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Lawrie.

Hi,
For some reason I can't use the edit, update or insert features on my remote shared server, so I am looking to create a web page that has text boxes on it, that I can enter data into, that will be saved into my database.
This is opposed to entering the data directly into the database itself. I want to be able to use a webpage, for simply adding new data, and saving it so that the new data updates and saves over the top of the old data.
What are the steps involved in doing this?
Any example code for just one text box would be appreciated, I could then extend it to suit my needs. Tia.
