which displays data from a Sales Order Header table and a Sales Order Detail table in a ReportViewer control, I am not able to view any detail data. The header information displays just fine. I checked the query used for gathering the detail records by executing a query through SQL Management Studio and it appears to be a valid query which returns the correct detail records.
I'm running the ReportViewer control in a .ASPX page inside Visual Studio 2005 in Local Processing Mode since ultimately I want to use the web page on a hosted Internet site.
Any ideas as to why the detail records won't display? The row numbers of the detail lines do display.
I use a ReportViewer to display a report in local mode (WinForm). As long as I use VS2005 in debug mode, the report is displayed correct without any problems. If I run the compiled application directly, I get a crash message :
"xxx has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."....
None of the exception handlings are called (the one where the "Me.ReportViewer1.RefreshReport()" is located and the one from the application "MyApplication_UnhandledException")
I designed an rdlc file to be used with ReportViewer in an ASP.NET page.
The data source I used was an Object DataSource.
When I placed the ReportViewer control on the page, an ObjecrtDataSource control was added too. I configured it for the parameters the report will receive. The first string parameter is named PRO_DES, which has a default value of "" and the data come from request.Form.
When I run the report in the page, the following error appears:
The 'PRO_DES' parameter is missing a value
PRO_DES parameter, since it is a string, could be empty.
I tried to set a default value, but the same message appears.
DataSource is correctly attached to the report, so I don't know where the problem can be.
Currently, our Report Builder is running on Local Intranet mode. I'm investigating what the security implications are in changing it to Internet mode. However, I've not been able to find any documentation on this.
Does anyone know of any documentation that addresses this issue or have experience that they can share with changing Report Builder security zone from Intranet mode to Internet mode?
I can drill from Parent Report to Child1, but when I drill from Child1 to Child2, I get the following error:
The path of the item "(null)" is not valid. The path must be less than 260 characters long and must start with slash. Other restrictions apply
Stack-Trace: Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportServerException: The path of the item "(null)" is not valid. The path must be less than 260 characters long and must start with slash. Other restrictions apply. (rsInvalidItemPath) at Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ServerReport.PerformDrillthrough(String drillthroughId, String& reportPath) at Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportActionHandler.HandleDrillthrough(String drillthroughID) at Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportActionHandler.HandleAction(String actionType, String actionParam, Int32& currentPage, Boolean& pageSetByEvent, String& navigationID, String& searchText, Int32& searchStartPage, String& alertMessage, Report& targetReport) at Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportViewer.System.Web.UI.IPostBackEventHandler.RaisePostBackEvent(String eventArgument)
Just to add one more thing, when I run this from Report Manager which is located on the same machine as the Report Server, I do not get this error. It must be in the exchange between the reportviewer control on the web app and the web service on the reportserver. Does anyone know how this connection takes place in a drill down scenario? I assume that when the web application (with reportviewer control) makes a call to the web service, it opens the authenticated connection. Then at each drill down event, does it make a round trip back to the web app? It is on the third round trip that I see the error.
I have a Report Viewer control. My application demands that whenever I show any Report using the ReportViewer the Report will be opened in .pdf format by default. Now the problem is that I cannot change the rsReportServer.config file because other Reports will be affected just because of that. Is there any mechanishm to set the default render mode of a ReportViewer control to pdf? Please help. Thanks and Warm Regards Saanj
I did the reportViewer.LocalReport.AddTrustedCodeModuleInCurrentAppDomain (€?PackageCode, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=6d1c15bd232054a1€?); part in my code.
I also added the [assembly: System.Security.AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers] too.
I published the assembly to GAC.
I added the dll as reference in rdlc file. And I get this error when I try to enter this code under a textbox
GetRequired is underlined with a red error line which says "unrecognized identifer" when I mouseover onto it. And when I run the report I get #Error in that textbox.
I dont have a reporting server.I get the data from a dataset. What to do now ? Thanks for help.
How to launch MSOLAP cube processing in batch mode? ================================================== =
When one wants to run SQL Statement or Stored procedure in batch mode, OSQL.exe can be used.
Now we have created OLAP cube and want to process(populate) cube. From MSOLAP Analysis manage we can right click a cube name then click “Process”. But how to do this in batch mode? I.e. any equivalent thing of OSQL.exe to help process cube?
I believe a matured tool should work good in both interactive and batch mode. Unfortunately I did not find how to launch cube processing from MS OLAP documents. Looks like we have to write one using DSO supplied by Microsoft. Do you know if there is any tool for us not to write one? Pls help.
I get this error for all but one of the reports in a solution when trying to preview the reports. The query behind the reports work, and the published side of things works fine. I blew away all the rdl.data files in the directory (found that tip in another forum) -- the working report rebuilds the rdl.data file, but the rest continue to fail with the same error. Everything worked fine before the weekend, and I'm the only one who works on the application. The extracted SQL tables which are input to the reports have had data added to them, but I've not requested reporting that would have hit the new data (except for the one report that still works). Any ideas would be greatly welcome. Thanks in advance.
I created a 2005 SSRS SP2 report (.rdl) last week. Today I installed the SQL 2005 SP2 tools on three of my co-workers' computers. Two can access the Solution/Project/Report in BIDS without issue. The last can open the Solution/Project/Report and can run see both the data and layout tabs. When she attempts to click the preview tab, however, the following error occurs:
An error occurred during local report processing. The definition of the report '/ReportName' is invalid. An unexpected error occurred in the Report Processing. Cannot execute a program. The command being executed was "C:WINNTMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727vbc.exe" /noconfig @"C:Documents and SettingsuserLocal SettingsTempwnlnvzev.cmdline".
The portion in blue changes each time we attempt to access the preview pane. I have removed the .data file suggested in other threads, but that did not work. I also ran iisreset.exe as posted in another thread and that did not work either.
All versions of BIDS/SQL were installed from the same media in the same manner. Please help.
My report worked fine for a while, but suddenly I started getting the following errors for Preview:
An error occurred during local report processing.
An error has occurred during report processing.
Index was outside the bounds of the array.
I restarted VS, then rebooted my machine and the problem persists. Everything including the report posted to the server works fine. It is just the Preview of this report does not work any more. Preview of other reports work fine.
Any tip to resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated.
I got rid of the .rdl.data files, which apparently has been a successful fix for this problem in the past. Everything worked fine Thursday when I left (I was off Friday - Saturday), but today I get this error for all but one of the reports in the solution when I try to preview the report. BTW, the published stuff works fine. Thanks in advance for any help.
//Refresh the report in order to show it to the user.
reportViewer.RefreshReport();
The problem is that both handout and grid is diiferent, Say User Selects the grid once it always shows the grid report. Even second time you change to handout still it shows the same Grid format and I debugged it and it picks the new report path but doesn't help? The application needs to be rerun to fix it.
Can anyone explain what is causing this and how to get rid of it.
Durning install I selected Window's Authentication only, but now it seems we may need to use a Mixed Mode with an SA account etc... is there anyway to switch SQL 2005 to use Mixed Mode after the fact?
We have reports in SharePoint integrated mode which are really slow when compared to native mode. I have been asked to research and give info on what exactly causes the delays.
Any articles which give me information as to what happens when a report is run from SharePoint server and where does it log.
There is a query which when executed in the grid mode(ctrl+d) takes approx 0.02 seconds(about 21,000 rows) But when I execute in the text mode, it takes about 0.40 seconds!! Why is this difference? Also, when the records from this table are read from a VB application, they are equally slow (as in the text mode!) Why is it so slow on the text mode & relatively faster in the grid mode? Has anyone got any idea on ‘Firehose’ style cursor ?(which may speed up access of data in the VB application)
Recently I read such statments 'When SQL Server is run in "lightweight pooling" mode (fiber mode) and the DTC service is started, unexpected behavior may occur.' Can someone say anything about fibe mode?I am appreciated for it.:)
I have a SQL 2005 OTC. CTP version running on Windows 2003 server.
I would like to find out how the SQL server option changed to Windows Authentication mode from Mixed mode over the weekend. From the SQL log, I don't see when it changed. I would like to see Date/Time and client IP. If I can see User ID (windows) that would be great. Where I can find these info in SQL server?
We have a 64-bit VM server running SQL Server 2005. The SQL Server on this particular VM server has 6 local instances installed. On the Management Studio logon screen I can type the full name of the local instance and connect to it, however if I press the drop down in the Server name field, choose Browse and select the Local Servers tab there is nothing listed under Database Engines.
Any idea why the 6 local instances don't show up under Database Engines? This is preventing me from installing a vendor application because their installer looks for local SQL Server instances on this server, but if SQL Server won't even show the local instances then the installer doesn't see them either.
I am facing a problem in connecting to the local database with server name as (local).
I have installed SQL Server 2005 in my machine. When I try to connect to the SQL server with the server name as SUNILKUMAR I am able to connect but when I try to connect to the same server with the server name as (local) I am not able to connect. SUNILKUMAR is my machine name and SQL server is running locally.
if anyone can help me what is the problem in this case it is highly appriciated.
My goal is to develop the system on a windows application and pda
There is a central server which will create a publication called inventory
The laptops which host the windows application will be subscribers to the central server using merge replication
The client now wants the PDA using SQL Mobile to synchronize with the local subscirber database on the laptop using active sync. They dont want to do it via WIFI to the IIS Server at the central server
I have been reading for days and I am still unsure whether this is possible to do.
I know Appforge provide a conduit for palm to access synchronization but not local sql databases
Being a very novice SQL Server administrator, I need to ask the experts a question.
How do I go about moving a database from 1 drive to another? The source drive (C is local to the server, but the target drive (E is on a Storage Area Network (SAN), although it is still a local drive for the server. I want to move the database from C: to E:. Can someone provide me with instructions?
This is my first time to deploy an asp.net2 web site. Everything is working fine on my local computer but when i published the web site on a remote computer i get the error "Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to failure in retrieving the user's local application data path. Please make sure the user has a local user profile on the computer. The connection will be closed" (only in pages that try to access the database) Help pleaseee
I'm creating a custom interface for reporting services but I am having a few problems. This is my environment:
Using the ReportViewer component in remote mode to show my reports of the report server. There are 2 user levels of which any user can be apart of, Admin & user. In every report, there is a parameter called MERCHANTID, when the user who logs in (via custom login interface) is of group admin, then the merchantid parameter gets prompted before the report is run, if the group of the user is "user" then the merchantid parameter is hidden, and is passed programatically to the report. The report path also
My Questions:
1. When my reportviewer component loads up the report and prompts for a parameter, when you select a parameter value or type it in, it just posts back with no results, just the parameter prompt again with no data... How can this be corrected?
2. How do I pass report parameters programatically... so that when my user id of group "user" then "merchantid" gets passed automatically, but if there is any more parameters, then that gets prompted...
i've installed the SSRS 2000 ENT Edition i trying to add reportviewer dll in my webapplication but i haven't find that dll so could any help in this issue ?

At the same time when I set Height to any particular value e.g. 400px, everything is OK. But of cousre I can't know particular height for every reports. Did you have any such problems?
