I prefer to write SQL code, without graphical tools.Have third party Query Analyzer that has filter and sort abilities? Also I looking for SQL editor with Completion ability (like we know forprogramming lang),for assist me write more quickly.
We are required to gather certain information regarding reporting services.
Which reports were requested, by whom , how long did they run for, what parameters were passed etc etc.
I see that the system tables do provide some of this information, is there a 3rd party tool or something we can use to gather all this type of information for us?
It appears to work fine on my end however on my clients end, whenever they try to print a report that displays perfectly within the report viewer to their printer by selecting the printer button in the report it never ends up printing.., however if they go into printer setup and change the page range to print from all pages to just maybe one page and then select the print button it seems to print fine..
The printer seems to receive the information as the light flashes but no page kick out when all pages is selected to print..
I am a system analyst and trying to do a report tools evaluation (crystal report, SSRS) to decide which report tools are more convenience easy to use.
But i don't have much knowledge about SSRS, so really appreciate for those who provides there professional advise..
Q1) How to install this report tool? Is it come with the SQL Server installation? Q2) I try to install the SQL Server Express 2005, but cannot work properly as connection to server is failed. (Should i install the full sql server? ) Q3) Any useful information or links?
Does anyone else have problems with the speed of the design environment for SSRS reports? We are using visual studio to create and manage hundreds of production reports (Oil and Gas).
It literally takes 5 seconds for the design environment to react to each change in the report layout. For instance, a common change is to reposition a text box, change the length, text, font size, font weight etc...:
Grab the text box - 5 seconds until designer responds - then reposition
Grab the edge to change the length - ditto
change text - 5 seconds for designer to "save" the change and allow next action....
blah - blah - blah.... So, performing the simple change above takes at least 30 seconds in addition to whatever time it took to edit the text box.
I've talked to the other developers using SSRS here and they all report that's "just the way it is".
Is this normal or is there an environment issue/setting we are overlooking.
I have a project with SQL sever reports in it. During a test upon returning to the VS 2013 Professional interface, the tool box area still had the previous information displayed and never returned to what should be there for the report design tools.I restarted VS, and the toolbox no longer looked like it did before. Specifically, the datatable tool among others was missing. I was unable to "refresh" the datatable after making changes to it.
I opened other Reports in design mode, and the tools did not show up for those either. The Report Items in the toolbox does contain things like Pointer, Text Box, Line and so forth.
I am trying to use NConstruct to generate my Nhibernate files. i can't connect to the sql server. In the past I have ran into similar problems with MyGeneration and other 3rd party tools. In those cases If I ran the tool as an administrator, it worked out ok. For NConstruct there is no option to run as administrator. I ran the SQL Server Surface Configuration tool to allow local and remote connections for named pipes and tcp already. I read all the blogs written for asp.net, and people often complain about the learning curve for Nhibernate or lack of Tutorials for Nhibernate. What I found in my case is that the steepest learning curve is to get the Microsoft Products Configured and Working Correctly! If anyone can be of any assistance, I would deeply appreciate it
Has anyone had experience using ‘VERITAS Backup Exec For Windows Servers Agent for MS SQL Server’ to run backup jobs? If so, what are the pros and cons?
I have always preferred using SQL Server Agent (not the maintenance plans) to run backup jobs and don’t know why anyone would want to use 3rd party software to do something SQL Server Agent does perfectly. Any advice?
I thought I was successful in linking SQL to a Third Party LDAP in the past, but I cannot get it to work now. It has been about 2 years ago I played with this. The LDAP does require authentication and I think that is where the problem lies, but if anyone can tell me if there is a way to do this and what the steps are I would greatly appreciate it.
In our system, the timeout of SqlCommand is set to 300 seconds (~5 mins). However, there was a case that exception 'ThreadAbortException' was thrown in .Net (IIS Server), with its corresponding query was blocked over 11 minutes.
The case raised a question: 'Which party manages the timeout after the sql command is sent to DB? .Net, IIS Server or SQL Server?' If the timeout is managed by .Net or IIS, is there any setting making SQL Server 2000 possible to kill the aborted process earlier?
I would like to know if anyone has a recommended method for having backups to tape while running log shipping. For example, is it possible to copy the transaction log backups used for log shipping to tape and apply them to a Full Database Restore from a 3rd Party Backup tool such as Veritas?
My goal is to be able to do a point-in-time restore from tape and still be able to use SQL Server 2005 Log Shipping.
I'm currently running a SQL Server 2005 setup (or so I believe) to use Windows Authentication. When I load Management Studio, the following popup box appears:
Server Type (greyed out): Database Engine
Server Name: Thor
Authentication: Wndows Authentication
U/N and P/W: greyed out
I can connect to my databases using PHP by specifying 'Thor' as my DB host, the DB name and then the username and password of a user I created.
The problem is that I cannot connect to my local server using EMS Data Export 2005 for SQL Server. I can use it to connect to a remote SQL DB on our web server but if I try to connect locally, it generates an error saying that the 'SQL Server does not exist or access denied'.
Does anyone have any experience with connecting to a local SQL server? I'm assuming that I need to setup my server to allow for external connections or something but I'm in the dark on the matter.
i want to show data Party Name and Time interval wise. here is my table from where i will fetch data. so pasting table data here.
Call start Call duration Ring duration Direction Is_Internal Continuation Party1Name Park_Time ------------------------- ---------------- ------------- --------- ----------- ------------ --------------- ----------- 2015/06/08 08:06:08 00:02:28 2 I 0 0 Emily 0 2015/06/08 08:16:38 00:00:21 0 I 0 1 Line 2.0 0 2015/06/08 08:16:38 00:04:13 5 I 0 0 Jen 0
[code]...
now i am not being able to cross join this CTE with my table to get data party name wise and time interval wise. say for if no data exist for a specific time interval then it will show 0 but each party name should repeat for time interval 9:00:00 - 9:30:00 upto 17:30:00. i like to add what filter need to apply to get data for incoming, outgoing, call transfer and miss call.
For Incoming data calculation where direction='I' and Is_Internal=0 and continuation=0 and RIGHT(convert(varchar,[call duration]),8)<> '00:00:00' For outgoing data calculation
I have a report model based on Oracle database. My model contains 3 tables and one of them has about 20 millions records. When I create a report using Report Builder, it just a very simple report - 2 columns: name and total sales, the performance is really slow. I am wondering how the report builder + report model works. I did apply a filter and expects to see around 40 rows ( I knew it because I ran a SQL query).
Is there anyone could help me? Perhaps SSRS Team? I am trying to promote Report Builder as an ad-hoc tool in my company.
I just installed a fresh lab machine with WSS 3.0 and SQL 2005. I registered the RS web parts.
In the home page I added the Reports Explorer and the Report viewer web parts. I set up the Reports Explorer and the list of reports are showed.
When I connect the Report Viewer Web part to get report from the Report Explorer web part I get the maintenance WSS page. I have to delete the Report Viewer web part to have the page working again.
If I use only the Reports Viewer with a report (not connected to Reports Explorer) is working just fine.
Any ideas what could be the problem? Any hints on how to investigate this is also much appreciated.
I've made a MDX calculation in SSAS and it works fine, but when i look at my report (which is based on my cube), the same calculation gives "infinity".
Primary platform is XP as client side and 2003 as server.
When I press F5 in order to see my report from IE appears this error:
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Cannot create a connection to data source 'SQL1.BDADMIN'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection) For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors
However, preview button works properly and data are showed. Let me know where am I failing.
Hi all, I moved a report to a different solution using the "Add Existing Item" function. Verified that all the data sources were properly connected and that my queries to provide parameter lists were running ok. When I try to run the main data source (a stored proc) from the data tab, I get this message:
"..An error occurred while executing the query. Procedure or function 'ReportSP' expects parameter '@Item, which was not supplied. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 201)"
This SP runs fine from the old solution and in Management Studio, so there must be something I need to do in the new report. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I checked the report parameters and it's there. When I try to preview the report, it lets me pick all the parameters, including the one it's griping about, then it throws the message.
works fine in designer but when i load the report services I get the following error anybody know what to do there is one subreport with this report maybe the passing value but what could be wrong ????
Item has already been added. Key in dictionary: '9' Key being added: '9'
Works fine in Visual Studio. Once deployed to SharePoint though, the drill through returns an error that says report can't be found. So I added the .rdl to the conditional statement in the report Design.
I have a drilldown report includes three groups. I add the last group for pagination. But the details in each page doesn't accord to I specified and the detail record number is different in different page.
Another issue is the interactive sort always sort in the first page scope. I set the data region or grouping to the table, and evaluate expression scrope to Detail scope.
i need to get the result of two different queries into 2 different sheets of the same excel file while exporting a report to excel using reporting services..
It's well known issue, that one can't use any dataset fields in a report header/footer directly. One of the approach is to create query-based parameter that basically equals =First(Fields!@FieldName@.Value, "@DataSetName@") and use that parameter value instead. But it doesn't work in my case!
My report displays some entity description and is parametrized with EntityID param. Its header contains entity name that, according to the approach, is queried from the data source through the EntityName report parameter. There's important issue: the report is displayed in ReportViewer control, that is embedded into my application and entity ID parameter isn't ser by user in ReportViewer parameters area. Its default value is changed by the application with SetReportParameters() web method every time a user wants to view the report according to the entity the user is exploring in the application. But after the report has been rendered, its header always contains not actual (outdated) entity name. Nevertheless, the report body contains actual data (including entity name). If I alter entity ID parameter in ReportViewer or in web-based Report Manager and refresh report, header displays correct entity name.
I have a parameter that chooses its available items from a query (with a label and a value column). I set the default for the parameter to the a particular value.
It works in Preview from design mode, but when I deploy it and run the report, it does not set the default.
In my SQL Server Management Studio Express (SSMSE), pubs Database has a Stored Procedure "byroyalty":
ALTER PROCEDURE byroyalty @percentage int
AS
select au_id from titleauthor
where titleauthor.royaltyper = @percentage
And Table "titleauthor" is: au_id title_id au_ord royaltyper

NULL NULL NULL NULL //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// I try to do an ADO.NET 2.0-VB 2005 programming in my VB 2005 Express to get @percentage printed out in the VB Form1. I read some articles in the websites and MSDN about this task and I am very confused about "How to Work with Output Parameters & Report their Values in VB Forms": (1) Do I need the Form.vb [Design] and specify its properties of the object and classes I want to printout? (2) After the SqlConnectionString and the connection.Open(), how can I bring the value of @percentage to the Form.vb? (3) The following is my imcomplete, crude draft code:
Dim connectionString As String = "Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=pubs;Integrated Security=SSPI;"
Dim connection As SqlConnection = New
SqlConnection(connectionString)
Try
connection.Open()
Dim command As SqlCommand = New SqlCommand("byroyalty", connection)
command.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure ................................................................... .................................................................. etc. //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// From the above-mentioned (1), (2) and (3), you can see how much I am lost/confused in attempting to do this task. Please help and give me some guidances and good key instructions for getting the output parameter printed out in the FORM.vb in my VB 2005 Express project.
