File System Task Error When Using SQL Server Agent (when Move File On Network Drive)
Jun 8, 2007I am able to run SSIS packages as SQL Server Agent jobs with a Control Flow items "File system task", if I move a file (test.txt) from a drive (c on the server (where SQL Agent jobs run) to a subdirectory on the same drive. But, if I try to move a file on a network drive, the package fail.
What I can do to solve this issue.

SQL Server Agent With Config File
Dec 5, 2007I'm trying to get a SSIS package to run as a SQL Server Agent job. The package uses a config file. When I try to add the config file to the job under the Configurations tab. When I click on the 'Add' button, I get the following error:
An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo)
The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object 'xp_availablemedia', database 'mssqlsystemresource', schema 'sys'.
The user does not have permission to perform this action.
The statement has been terminated. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error:229)
Any suggestions?
Error: Server Agent Cant Find Dts File
Apr 17, 2006Im trying to schedule an integration sevice package with no anvile. I have tried both running it in Agent under Integration services and operation system (CmdExec) and still wont work. Under CmdExec, the command is /FILE "C:Documents and SettingsebuahMy DocumentsVisual Studio 2005ProjectsSwamp_SolutionFIRSTTIME_DOWNLOADSSIS_ACT.dtsx" /MAXCONCURRENT " -1 " /CHECKPOINTING OFF. In the advance tab, I checked outfile to a log.txt file so as to read the log if there was any errors. The account running the job is the same account that sql server agent services is running which would only mean I really dont need any proxy account to run the job. When i run the job under CmdExec, i get the error

Output File (.txt) Running Package From SQL Server Agent

Hello,
I have created a package that runs without problem.
I run the package with the command dtexec /F "package_name.dtsx" > package_name.txt.
Then I run the same package from SQL Server Agent, everything is OK
Then, I tried to edit the command line to have the output file, but I got an error.
The command line is:
dtexec /F "package_name.dtsx" MAXCONCURRENT "-1" / CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING E > package_name.txt.
(MAXCONCURRENT "-1" / CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING E are created by default)
How can I do?

FTP Task In A SQL Server Agent Scheduled Job - Corrupts Excel File?
May 8, 2006We are not certain if this has happened due to the SSIS FTP Task, but incidently the Excel file that is being copied from the FTP site using an SSIS FTP Task got corrupted a couple hours after the package was scheduled as a SQL Server Agent Job on SQL Server 2005.
I had a SQL Server 2000 DTS package doing the same thing, but it was never an issue then. I was using the FTP Task there along with an Excel Data source in that and has been working for a couple years atleast with never any corruption related issues.
In the SSIS SQL Server 2005 package I am using an FTP Task with an Excel Connection Manager and Excel source and the Excel file got corrupted within a couple hours of the package being scheduled as a SQL Server Agent job.
Has anyone experienced this issue? Any inputs will be appreciated.
Just as an fyi, the excel file has a lot of vlookups.

Can The Tell The SQL Server Agent To Wait For A Batch File To Finish Before Proceeding?
May 29, 2008I'm setting up a Maintenance Plan to do a backup for me in the night of my SQL Databases but before the backup starts I have created a SQL Server Agent Job that runs a DOS batch (.bat) file using CmdExec. The problem is I need this process to finish processing before the rest of the tasks run in the Maintenance Plan. It seems like SQL Server Agent Job Task tells the batch file to start running (and it runs fine) but it just continues to the next task and does not wait for it to finish.
Is there any way I can configure this to wait before proceeding?

Differences In SSIS File Locations In SQL Server Agent Step
Jun 22, 2007When adding an SSIS step to a SQL Server Agent job, when selecting the location of a config file, the dialog lets you select from the database server you're working with. If selecting the location of the package itself (when the source is File System), the dialog lets you select from the machine where Management Studio is sitting instead of from the database server. Is that intentional? And if so, why? Should I just use a fully qualified file name for the package location rather than one using a drive letter?

The SSIS package works fine when I run it directly run it in the Designer, ie, it copies over the file to the network.
But when I run the package through the Job server agent, it fails giving me a validation error on the network path..
Does it have to do with the permissions of the User account used here? Could anyone please provide any information on this....

Apr 30, 2015I recently installed standalone version of SQL 2014 Standard on my work computer. I used Access before but I want to use a SQL server instead.
We have a shared drive that a file gets deposited every day at midnight. I want to be able to get this file and import it to the server (its basically a list of names).
Here what I have done so far:
I created the database
Created the file and successfully imported data into it using the Import Data feature.
I saved the SSIS package
Scheduled an Agent Job for this package to run at certain time,daily
At first the jobs would fail with a Access is Denied. I added a user under Credentials with my network account ( have admin rights on the work computer).Also added a Proxy for the Credential user I made.
Jobs fail with a “Cannot open data file” error. I tried changing things here and there, but I can’t get it to work.

Execute Sql Server Agent Job Task - Job Immediately Returns Success... However Agent Job Is Still Running???
Nov 30, 2006when I run a package from a command window using dtexec, the job immediately says success.
DTExec: The package execution returned DTSER_SUCCESS (0).
Started: 3:37:41 PM
Finished: 3:37:43 PM
Elapsed: 2.719 seconds
However the Job is still in th agent and the status is executing. The implications of this are not good. Is this how the sql server agent job task is supposed to work by design.

Sql Agent Job Cannot Run With Flat File Connection

I have a SSIS package that can be run outside SQL Server Agent, but fail with SQL Server Agent for the same user login. The packages are saved in the sql server database with Windows Authentication. The protection level I used is the default one: encrypt sensitive data with user key?
The packages have a step to dump data into a flat file destination. The error message is
Cannot open the datafile? on the local drive that the user has access to.
Any idea on how to fix it is appreciated?

Flat File Connection - Network Share - SQL Agent - HELP!
Jun 19, 2007SQL Agent will not successfully execute my package as a job. Bids executes the package correctly as well as when I run the package manually (right click, run package) through SQL Server Management Studio. This is a permissions issue with the flat file any help will be much appreciated.Background Information:OS: SQL 2005 on Windows Server 2003Flat File Connection: \servernamefolderfile.txt (If I change the flat file location to a local file the package will run as a job successfully)Domain: The package is running on a Windows machine that is not on any domain. The network location is a Windows machine on a domain.Security: The network location folder (\servernamefolderfile.txt) has no security, namely anyone can access any file to read/write/delete/etc. I can manually add and delete files as well as add and delete files when the package runs through BIDS or when I manually run it through management studio.Permissions: I have created a login, security credential, and proxy which I am using to run the package. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is some sort of security issue with SQL Agent. But, the error claims that the user is running as localmachineAdministrator. Isn't this how the package would run if I manually execute it?
SQL Agent Jobstep Output File Contains Automatically Generated Header

I've created a stored procedure that creates a script to create a number of objects within the database (based on what existing objects are in the database). From Management Studio, this works fine, and the output is exactly as I want it.
I'm now trying to create a job that will execute this stored procedure, and deposit the results into a file somewhere on the server. When the job runs, the script is created in the correct place and is essentially ok.
However, there are a couple of questions I'd like to ask.
Why does SQL Server Agent put a header at the top of the output file? I was hoping to be able to use that output file 'as is' and execute it automatically to recreate my objects when required. (Obviously, I can manually remove the header, but this is an inconvenience in this situation). How do I stop it?
Also, when executed from SSMS, the output is correctly line-spaced. But, the output from the scheduled job adds an extra line between each line of text, which is, again, inconvenient. Why does it do this, and how can I prevent this (again, without manually editting the output)?
Any thoughts and help greatly appreciated.

Integration Services :: Source Excel File Causing Failure In Agent
Aug 13, 2015I have a package from SQL Server 2008 R2, that loads data from .xlsx file to database table.There are total 15 columns and 14000 rows in the .xlsx. The package runs fine in BIDS. But the same package in SQL Agent fails with error "omponent "Excel Source" (1)" failed validation and returned validation status "VS_ISBROKEN".
When I tried to run the package by deleting the half of the records for first 7000 rows it ran successfully in agent. Then the second half (last 7000 rows) also succeed from agent job. So, there is no issue with the data/datatypes.The agent job is able to run with record upyo 11000 rows in .xlsx. When I am running for 12000 rows it is failing.Is there any problem with the number of records in .xlsx or size through SQL Agent?
I am running the package from a Proxy account in sql agent job.

SQL 2012 :: SSIS Package From File System Run As Agent From Job Step On Secondary Node
Sep 23, 2014I have created a Test SSIS Package within BIDS (VS 2K8, v 9.0.30729.4462 QFE; .NET v 3.5 SP1) that connects to our Test Listener.
There is only 1 Connection Manager Object, and OLE DB Provider for SQL Server.
The ConnectionString lists: Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;Integrated Security=SSPI
The Test Connection within BIDS works.
The Package Control Flow has just 1 Object, and Execute SQL Task that performs an Exec on an SP that contains only a Select (Read).
The Package runs within BIDS.
I've placed this Package within a Job on the Primary Node. Ive run the job successfully using 32 bit runtime on and off. The location of the file on the server happens to be on a share that resides on what is currently the Secondary Node.
When I try to run the exact copy of this Job on the Secondary Node (Which has been Set up for Read All Connections; Yes), I get an error, regardless of the 32 bit runtime opiton. At this point, the location of the file is on the Secondary Node.
The Error is: "Login failed for user 'OurDomainAgent_Account'".
The Agent is a member of NT ServiceSQLServerAgent on both instances, and that account is a member of SysAdmin. Adding the Agent account as well, and giving that account SysAdmin, makes no difference either.
Why can't I get this to work?
Snapshot Agent && Log Reader Agent Will Not Start.

I would appreciate any help here at all. I am pulling my hair out!
I am unable to start the snapshot agent or log reader agent from within SQL management studio. it fails on executing step 2 with unknown username or bad password.
I have checked all account details and they are correctly using my domain admin account. I can connect to SQL using teh same account and it also has sysadmin permissions.
If i copy the step 2 paramters and start from the cmd prompt (again logged in using the same domain account) they both start fine.
Any ideas would be gratefully received.
Cannot Start Log Reader Agent And Snapshot Agent
May 18, 2007I am testing peer to peer replication in our environment. I simulated a three node peer to peer topology and a local distributor.
For some wierd reason I cannot get the Log Reader Agent and snapshot agent to start. The domain account under which SQL Server Agent runs has administrator previlage on the box. I also use a domain account for SQL Server Service. (none of the passwords changed).
This is the error I am getting - "Executed as user: abc. A required privilege is not held by the client. The step failed"
Any ideas???

I have installed an SQL 2005 Failover Cluster on a Two Node Active Passive Windows 2003 Cluster.If i am trying to failover from the Active node to the passive Node,The Sql Server,Sql Server Agent and SQL Analysis resources fail,However if i reset the passowrd in the services tab of the above three services on the pasive node,the resources come online.
Below is the brief of my setup
1.I have two Active directory domain controllers running Windows 2003 R2 Standard edition with SP2.
2.i have installed a Windows 2003 Two Node Active Passive Cluster as NODE1 and NODE2.
3.The Domain account used to install WIndows 2003 A/P Cluster is Clusteradmin.This account is the member of Administartors on the Domain as well as the Local Admin on NODE1 and NODE2.
4.SQL 2005 with SP2 is installed on both the Nodes as SQL 2005 Failover Cluster.The account used to install SQL 2005 is sqadmin.This account is the member of Administartors on the domain and the member of Local Admins on NODE1 and NODE2.
5.SLQ 2005 has four domain groups for 4 SQL Services.The Services are SQL Server,SQL Server Agent,SLQ Anaylisis Server and Full text Search.
6.Each of these servcie has a seperate service account created for them.All these service accounts areb the members of domain admin and the member of Local Admin on NODE1 and NODE2.
7.Each of these servcies is running under these servcie accounts in the Servcies tab in NODE1 and NODE2.
8.If i fail the resources from NODE1 to NODE2 ,The SQL Server,SQL Server Agent and SQL Anaylisis resources are failing.on going to the service tab of NODE 2 I reset the password for these services,the services come online.
10.The Cluster resources and MSDTC Resources are Failing over successfully.They are coming online successfully.
11,I have a problem with the SQL Server Resources,even if i failback to NODE1 from NODE2,the same resources are failing again.

Is there a difference with sql replication between sql server 2005 64bit and sql server 2005 32bit?
Both are on a Windows 2003 server. One is 32 bit and the other one is 64 bit.
The first time I set up sql replication (test environment), it was on a 32 bit sql server. This worked fine.
The second time I wanted to set up replication (live environment), it was on a 64 bit sql server. This didn't worked fine.
I can't call the sqlcesa30.dll file on the 64bit server with IIS. So I called the dll via a remote IIS server.
This worked but gave me the following error when calling the following URL:

After seeing this I looked up what ReadWriteDeleteMessageFile could mean. It appeared to be some NTFS acces problem. But when I checked the security settings, it all seemed to be ok.
Has anyone any idea what else to check? Or is sure that I must have done something wrong?

Ssis Package Can't Connect To Pop Server Over The Internet From Sql Server Agent
Dec 20, 2007Sql server agent is running under a domain account that is a member of administrators and domain users amongst others, and the package is executed as the service account. Connecting to servers on the same domain works and when I run it from the msdb package store in ssis (ssis runs under the network service account ...) it will connect to the pop server as well. Permissions, fiddly proxies .. the answer's out there somewhere

it retuens that it is successful when there is no data to archive from TblActivityBooking, it's when there is data to archive that it returns that the job has failed.

I don't want to use SQLMail, since my administrator has not set that up. Also, I don't want to write the code in an ASP page for the following reason: If the page is not being viewed at the time I want the e-mail to be sent, it won't work. Besides, it's not efficient to have to read this code for no reason every time a page is loaded in the hopes someone loads it at the correct time. Any suggestions?
