I was wondering if anybody knows how to put the values in the variable to a text file. I have a stored procedure that has a cursor that pulls certan records and then place them into a variable. I want to put the variable values into a text file. Any ideas?
Hello I need to write a proc to load data from txt files I receive into a table. It works fine when I specify bulk insert.... from 'myfilename.txt' BUT my filename will always change and I store it into a variable @filename
When I try to run the bulk insert instruction ... from @filename it doesn't work.. do you know why?
HI All. I'm trying to tweak the Transfer Logins task to exclude Windows Logins that are local to the Server (e.g. servernameusername) which obviously can't be transferred off the server. Annoying that we have a couple of local Logins on this system instead of all Domain Groups, but we're stuck with them due to firewall issues, and a policy excluding SQL Logins.
My idea is to create a text file as part of my Package that lists Logins to be Excluded From the Transfer - I think I then need to create a New File Connection to the Text File as a Connection Manager, then somehow get that data into a Variable, and then use an Expression to populate the 'LoginsList' Collection from syslogins where loginame not equal to logins in my textfilevariable?
Or maybe I'm over complicating this, and there's an easier solution? Lots of info in Books Online about Expressions and Variables, but having trouble finding examples that I can use. As a DBA, this is my first foray into SSIS, and as you can possibly tell, I'm floundering....
I am downloading a webpage as a text file in order to read a specific string to assign it as a variable/parameter in order to create an output file name. I would like to know how would I be able to look for a specific string and output as another variable for the rest of the package.
2015 Conforming Loan Limits ------------------------------------------------------------------------ o _Loan Limits for Calendar Year 2015--All Counties _[XLS] </DataTools/Downloads/Documents/Conforming-Loan-Limits/FullCountyLoanLimitList2015_HERA-BASED_FINAL_FLAT.xlsx>_ , _[PDF] </DataTools/Downloads/Documents/Conforming-Loan-Limits/FullCountyLoanLimitList2015_HERA-BASED_FINAL.pdf>_ o _List of 46 Counties with Increases in Loan Limits for 2015
[Code] ...
To explain it a more better way, I have a sample webpage text here. I should be searching for "FullCountyLoanLimitList" appended by the current year (like FullCountyLoanLimitList2015) and copy the entire file name in the text file and assign it to another variable so that I can download that specific file using WebClient connection.
Hi, I want to create a text file and write to text it by calling its assembly from Stored Procedure. Full Detail is given below
I write a code in class to create a text file and write text in it. 1) I creat a class in Visual Basic.Net 2005, whose code is given below: Imports System Imports System.IO Imports Microsoft.VisualBasic Imports System.Diagnostics Public Class WLog Public Shared Sub LogToTextFile(ByVal LogName As String, ByVal newMessage As String) Dim w As StreamWriter = File.AppendText(LogName) LogIt(newMessage, w) w.Close() End Sub Public Shared Sub LogIt(ByVal logMessage As String, ByVal wr As StreamWriter) wr.Write(ControlChars.CrLf & "Log Entry:") wr.WriteLine("(0) {1}", DateTime.Now.ToLongTimeString(), DateTime.Now.ToLongDateString()) wr.WriteLine(" :") wr.WriteLine(" :{0}", logMessage) wr.WriteLine("---------------------------") wr.Flush() End Sub Public Shared Sub LotToEventLog(ByVal errorMessage As String) Dim log As System.Diagnostics.EventLog = New System.Diagnostics.EventLog log.Source = "My Application" log.WriteEntry(errorMessage) End Sub End Class
2) Make & register its assembly, in SQL Server 2005. 3)Create Stored Procedure as given below:
CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.SP_LogTextFile ( @LogName nvarchar(255), @NewMessage nvarchar(255) ) AS EXTERNAL NAME [asmLog].[WriteLog.WLog].[LogToTextFile]
4) When i execute this stored procedure as Execute SP_LogTextFile 'C:Test.txt','Message1'
5) Then i got the following error Msg 6522, Level 16, State 1, Procedure SP_LogTextFile, Line 0 A .NET Framework error occurred during execution of user defined routine or aggregate 'SP_LogTextFile': System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'C:Test.txt' is denied. I have created a File System task which is contained in a Foreach Loop Container. I have .bak files that are populating a directory from a maintenance backup plan.
There is a point where I need to delete the .bak file's after I've zipped them all up.
How do I set the SourceVariable to read through the directory and pick up just the .bak file's in the directory to delete.
I'm exporting reports daily to a file share and I need to rename the reports with a pseudo time stamp.
Example: I have a report named "Disk Usage" and when I export (using a data-driven subscription) I want to rename it "Disk Usage - (Jan07)" - or something to that effect.
Declare@Testnames as Varchar(500) Set@Testnames = ('CT,MRI')-- List all radiology type SELECT* FROMRPT_OUTPATIENT_IMAGING WHEREservice_level2 In (@Testnames)
Nothing comes back.
When I run:
SELECT* FROMRPT_OUTPATIENT_IMAGING WHEREservice_level2 In ('CT','MRI')
Hi all,I have a variable called Description which is set from a database field - How do i set another variable to grab the first 200 chars from this var? hope this makes sense
I've created a stored procedure that converts an input string in richtext format (input as type TEXT) to plain text. I would like to be able to return this newly converted string, but I need to have some way of storing it in a local variable. My problem is that since I can't use the TEXT datatype as a local variable, I have no way of storing the large amounts of text I converted within the procedure. The VARCHAR(8000) just isn't large enough for my purposes. Anyone have any suggestions on how to go about doing this?
I have this big huge SQL statement. I am trying to see whether there is some quick magic way to assign it to the variable @SQL
Declare @SQL NVARCHAR(MAX) Set @SQL = <????> SELECT ClaimSurgical.FormNbr as ClaimIdentifier,ClaimSurgical.MemberTID, ClaimSurgical.Membernbr as MemberNumber, ClaimSurgical.AdmitDate AS ServiceDateYYYYMMDD, CAST(CAST(ClaimSurgical.AdmitDate AS VARCHAR) AS DATETIME) ServiceDate,ClaimSurgical.ProviderNbr as ClaimPRVNO, ClaimSurgical.VendorNbr as ClaimTaxID, ClaimSurgical.AssignedProvider1 as PCPPRVNO,ClaimSurgical.CAPVendor as PCPTaxID, EventCode_1.EventCodeTypeID,
In the data flow task I have multiple OLE DB source task to retreive data from a cube using MDX. Below is an example of the query from sql command text field: I have a few questions on how to modify this statment to make it more robust.
1) The where clause [Calendar].[Quarter 2 (2007)] should actually be some kind of variable that will change each time the user runs this project. So I am wondering how to make this a variable and get it into this field.
2) I had thought that I could use the SSIS variable. I have created one, but I can not figure how to get it into the field that contains the given select statment.
3) I believe that once I get this variable part to work then I want a way to have user set this data value. Either by selecting data from a table in database or through a user interface where user enters data. I did do some resarch on creating a user interface, but I did not understand what I had to do, so if any one knows where to find a tutorial on how to do this let me know, or what they believe the best/easiest way is to get data from user to fill this where clause. select * from OPENROWSET('MSOLAP', 'DATASOURCE=local; Initial Catalog=Patient Demographics 2005;', 'with member [Measures].[TimeDisplayName] as [Calendar].CurrentMember.Name SELECT NON EMPTY { [Measures].[TimeDisplayName],[Measures].[Adjusted Relative Weight],[Measures].[Adjusted Case Weight]} ON COLUMNS, ({[Facility].[REGION].[NATCODE], [Facility].[REGION].[REGCODE]} * [RIC].[CMGGRPCD].ALLMEMBERS) ON ROWS FROM [ESR] WHERE [Calendar].[Quarter 2 (2007)] ')
I'm attempting to configure a DataReader's SqlCommand text to use a package-level variable and I'm having trouble. I've read about using the "sql command from variable" option but although I see that during the configuration of Ole DB source, I don't see the same option for DataReader source. Viewing the properties of the DataReader and selecting the SqlCommand property does have button to configure the value but only displays a string value editor window. (I was hoping for the expression editor.)
The configured connection to the DataReader uses the odbc Data Provider (under .Net providers). I'm connecting to mySql, if that matters.
What I'm looking to do is to use a variable in the where clause of the DataReader's SqlCommand. Any hints how to accomplish this or other ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Similar to a previous post (http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=244646&SiteID=1), I am trying to import data into a SQL Table.
I am trying to program a small application that will import product data obtained through suppliers via CD-ROM. One supplier in particular uses Fixed width colums, and data looks like this:
Example of Data
0124015Apple Crate 32.12
0124016Bananna Box 12.56
0124017Mango Carton 15.98
0124018Seedless Watermelon 42.98 My Table would then have: ProductID as int Name as text Cost as money
How would I go about extracting the data with an XML Format file? I am stumbling over how to tell it where to start picking up data for a specific column. Is there any way that I could trim the Name column (i.e.: "Mango Carton " --> "Mango Carton")?
I don't know if it makes any difference, but I've been calling SQL from my code by doing this:
Code in C# Form
SqlConnection SqlConnection = new SqlConnection(global::SQLClients.Properties.Settings.Default.ClientPhonebookConnectionString); SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand();
SqlConnection.Open(); cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); SqlConnection.Close(); RefreshData(); I am running Visual Studio C# Express 2005 and SQL Server Express 2005.
What is the easiest way to accomplish this task with SSIS?
Basically I have a stored procedure that unions multiple queries between databases. I need to be able to export this to a text file on a daily basis and add a total records: row to the end of the text file.
Hello Experts, I am createing one task (user control) in SSIS. I have property grid in my GUI and 2 buttons (OK & Cancle). PropertyGrid has Properties like SourceConnection, OutputConnection etc....right now I am able to populate Connections in list box next to Source and Output Property.
Now my question to you guys is depending on Source Connection it should read that text file associated with connection manager. After validation it should pick header (first line of text file bases on record type) and write it into new file when task is executed. I have following code for your reference. Please let me know I am going in right direction or not.. What should go here ? ->Under Class A
I have a simple CSV/XLS dump that i need to put up on the server. I would need to create a file output daily and need a variable name to identify them easily. I have the problem of naming it in the "connection string" easily and i have tried variables and expressions too. I am new to this so please need help. Thanks
Cannot use dynamic sql in current context. So need some help regarding this.I am developing a stored procedure to update a table. Sending Column names as parameters, but not able to use them as given below.INSERT INTO Books (@Column1, @Column2) values.. Any way to execute without using dynamic sql?..Thanx.
When I look into the XML Source component, there is an option of XMldata from varialbe, can anybody help me in knowing how exactly do I go about in loading an XML file onto a variable ?
Hello friends.... I am looking for 2 things(using c#.net or vb.net and sql svr 2000) 1.convert data from sql server 2000 database (say customers table from northwinds database) to a text file(separated by commas or just plain space) 2.Insert the data from text file back to database. Can someone pls give me the detailed code to achieve this....really need this on urgent basis.......Thank You.
Here is what I am trying to accomplish. I need to move *.pdf files from a local directory into a local staging directory, then from the Staging directory FTP them up to the customers site. Then move the files from the staging directory to an archive directory. I can do this fine as long as all values are static in SSIS, I need help to figure out hoe to do this using variables. The Directories to be used are to be supplied by the DB all that is give in the directory itself all files in the directory need to be moved. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Mike
Everyday they are sending to our servers a file named like CC_20080501 . it is CC_YYYYMMDD So I have to check it and move into the database table. I am thinking to create standard database connection and name like CC_std And When the file arrives to create something like CC_std (actually copying my daily file CC_YYYYMMDD to CC_std ? BUT how can I do it? any other way to do it?
How can I write the value of a variable to a flat file in SSIS?
In particular, I'm creating a flat file I'm storing the data of a table. I'd like to add a header that displays the value of a variable that contains the record count. How can I do that?
I have a number of DTS packages I am trying to convert and am totally new to Integration Services.
I have a flat file that I reference to get a date that I use in some SQL statements in the package. It seems like the best way to do this would be to create a variable to hold the date and set it at run time from the flat file. I've been searching the documentation and the forum and can't figure out how to do this. This is so basic that I feel like an idiot putting it on the forum but I need some help. This whole Integration Services thing is a big shift from DTS (which I eventually became pretty good at) Now I'm back to ground zero.
Any help would be appreciated. If you can direct me to any basic training resources that would be cool too.
Using the 'for each' container, I am setting a user variable (type = string) which will hold the source file name and path of files to process and then move to an archive directory.
In the move file task (which is in the for each loop container) I have set the destination to a file connection, and the source to : Issourcepathvariable=True; sourcevariable=user::sourcefilename
BUT
when I run the package, I get the following error : Error at File System Task : "Source Path" is not valid on operation type "move file".
I have tried all sorts of things relating to expressions etc. but cannot get this to work. I am obviousley doing something fundementally wrong...can anyone help me?
