Variables Passed To Oracle Procedure Using SQL Task End With CHR(0) Null
Apr 29, 2008
I am using a Execute SQL Task which takes package variables and passes them to an Oracle SP as parameters:
{call oraclespname(?,?,?)}
where of course the parameters are set up as input parameters on the correct tab in the SQL Task.
Well the data that is being put into the table in Oracle has a CHR(0) or a null appended to the end of it. Of course this makes no sense. Does anyone have an idea of why this is happening or a way to fix it. The data becomes fairly useless as is without doing a RTRIM(data,CHR(0)) on it first which is a work around but kind of a hack.
I am having trouble getting the Execute SQL Task to recognize the package-level variables in an SSIS package. The tasks fail execution. The package contains three Execute SQL tasks and none of them receive the variables. However, when I replace the '?' in the code with the variable values they execute fine. These are the steps I have taken thus far:
Made sure the three variables are package level. Verified I'm using an OLE DB valid connection. Verified the variables are properly mapped in the parameters mapping section of the task properties. Tried all 4 types of variable to parameter mapping (even though '?' in the query and '0,1,2..' in the name should work). Changed the Bypassprepare property to 'True'. Breakpoints and watch windows to verify the variable values.
I actually tried the simple tutorials on a one-liner SQL statement that uses variables, but had the same problem. I know there must be something simple that I'm missing here, but any info would be greatly appreciated!
I have a stored procedure where I gather some data and then insert the data into a table variable. I then attempt to go through each row of the table variable, asign the values to local variables to be inserted into other tables. However, the local variables show as NULL.BEGIN DECLARE @tblcontact table ( SOKey int, Cntctkey varchar(60), Cntctownerkey int, LASTNAME varchar(32), FIRSTNAME varchar(32), WORKPHONE varchar(32), EMAIL varchar(128), processed int DEFAULT 0 )
I need to check if the IDs in table A on the server X exist in table B (if not check table C, if not in C, check table D ) on the server Y. The problem is that the table name changes every year and I need to use the variable for the reference table name in LookUp component in the Dataflow Task.
I am trying to execute a Oracle Procedure through Execute Sql Task but it keeps throwing back an error ORA:00900. Is it possible to execute the procedure from this object? Do I need to use the script task to execute this. If yes then how?
Iam using 'Execute SQl task' which calls a stored procedure located in sql server database. The task's SQL source type is variable and the variable has the follwoing expression "EXEC PROC_SEL_MBO_REPORT "+@[User::V_SP_Job_Date]after evaluation it is like EXEC PROC_SEL_MBO_REPORT '01/NOV/2007'.It is working fine
Now the procedure is changed to Oracle. So I have changed it to "BEGIN PROC_SEL_MBO_REPORT " + "("+ @[User::V_SP_Job_Date]+")"+"; END"+";" after evaluation it is like BEGIN PROC_SEL_MBO_REPORT ('01/NOV/2007') END;.It is sucessfully executing from the task but no data is loaded into the tables which are used by the procedure internally. Executing 'execute BEGIN PROC_SEL_MBO_REPORT ('01/NOV/2007') END;' is perfectly alright from SQl developer or sql plus.
I'd like to be able to offer the option of selecting a project by the ProjectID number, and if a projectID is not supplied then the default result set would be select * from tbl_Projects.
ALTER PROCEDURE [USP_SelectProject] -- Add the parameters for the stored procedure here @ProjectNumber as int AS BEGIN
I'm executing Oracle procedure, which has three OUTPUT parameters and returns results in table type variable. i should not use ODBC, MSDAORA providers to call the procedure. So I'm planning to using Oracle OLEDB provider. I'm able to execute the procedure successfully, but when i do check (while dr.Read()) its not returning any records. But I know as per stored procedure results, it should return 66 records.
Dim conn As New OleDbConnection Dim cmd As New OleDbCommand Dim dr As OleDbDataReader Dim QSQL As String
I am not comfortable with DTS 2000 but I need to execute a encapsulated DTS 2000 package from a SSIS package. The real problem is when I need to pass SSIS variables to DTS 2000 package. The DTS 2000 package have 3 global variables that I can identify on " Execute DTS 2000 Package Task Editor - Inner Variables ". I believe the SSIS variables must be mapped on " Execute DTS 2000 Package Task Editor - OuterVariables ". How can I associate the SSIS variables(OuterVariables ) to "Inner Variables"? How can I do it? Much Thanks.
I am using execute sql task to run a stored procedure in oracle database which returns a resultset. This works. Now I need to send the ouput to a destination table in a sql database. Should I use for each loop to pick the resultset and insert it into the destination one by one (which I dont think is a great idea) or is there a better way to accomplish this task (in data flow task) ?
When I use dataflow task instead of execute sql task, the main issue is I am not able to see the output columns when I execute an oracle stored procedure, but when I see the preview I can see the resultset . But I can see the output columns for a sql server stored procedure.
We have an application written in ASP that calls a MS-SQL stored procedure and passes several parameters. Once in a while, we get this error, but most of the time it works. We can also run this in SQL query analyzer without ever a problem. We've looked at the obvious and found nothing wrong.
Please help! Any suggestions are appreciated. (I posted this in ASP discussion board but no one replied)
In which system table the information about the optional parameters passed to stored procedure are stored.I know about the tbl_columns and all that stuff. From where can i can come to know the parameter is mandatory or optional.--Message posted via http://www.sqlmonster.com
Hi Guys, I am trying to manipulate an SQL statement based on the return from a menu with auto postback enabled.Simply I am working with dates, so I will declare variables for today, next week, last week and so on.How do I then use this in the SQL? I assumed that if I declared the following Dim my_today As String = Format(Date.Now(), "dd/MMM/yyyy")Then in the SQL I used SELECT * FROM my_table item_date = @my_todayI would get a result, but I get an error. What is the right way to do this? Many thanksSteve
Hi there i really cant understand why this should be a problem... it seems that i cant create a table from a stored procedure when passing the tablenam from application like this...
CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.CreateTable @TableName NVARCHAR(50) AS BEGIN
create table @TableName ([id] int identity(1,1),[diller] int)
I have a scenario where I need to compare a single DateTime field in a stored procedure against multiple values passed into the proc.So I was thinking I could pass in the DateTime values into the stored procedure with a User Defined Table type ... and then in the stored procedure I would need to run through that table of values and compare against the CreatedWhenUTC value.I could have the following queries for example:
WHERE CreatedWhenUTC <= dateValue1 OR CreatedWhenUTC <= dateValue2 OR CreatedWhenUTC <= dateValue 3
The <= is determined by another operator param passed in. So the query could also be:
WHERE CreatedWhenUTC > dateValue1 OR CreatedWhenUTC > dateValue2 OR CreateWhenUTC > dateValue3 OR CreateWhenUTC > dateValue4
Currently i am using SQL Server 2012 Import/Export Wizard to upload data to sql tables manually. However i was trying to write a procedure to update that table. and on the time of execution, if i can pass excel. Is there any way to pass excel to stored procedure parameter?
I have used cursors in a similar way 100 times (but not in a couple years). I am selecting 4 columns from a table and inserting them into 4 variables and then calling a stored proc with those 4 and a few other already defined variables. The already set variables are fine. But the variables which should be set by the cursor are coming up as NULL (I can tell because they are spit out as 'NULL' by the RAISERROR). There are no rows with NULL values in the table...
BEGIN TRY -- Set CR First Last for each report type DECLARE@RowNumOrderBy VARCHAR(40), @StatCode VARCHAR(50), @UpdateTargetField VARCHAR(50), @UpdateSourceField VARCHAR(50)
I'm trying to replace a view with stored procedure for faster performance. the View is called by end user using a query as below, I need to pass the date as parameter for sp to execute with quotes for it to execute with correct results. Â I tried to pass the date as parameter but could not execute stored procedure with correct results. Is there any way to put quotes around returned date from sub query :Â
Execute statement is like Exec dbo.storedProc1Â select max(date) from table
I need to pass the above as :
Exec dbo.storedProc '2015-03-24'Â .
Somehow passing the date as parameter is giving me empty result set.
when I run this query against an Oracle 9 datasource I get a message saying 'not all variables bound'
select <some fields> from star where nr_jahr_star = :Year
my datasource is correct as the same report runs fine if I just put in a fixed year and I have the Oracle client software on both my PC and the RS server
I've tried various combinations with the parameter settings also with no luck.
They are sent to the sproc as null. Since they could be null I need to exclude them from posting to a temp table
Example
DECLARE @QuantityID uniqueidentifier, @LengthID uniqueidentifier, @CostID uniqueidentifier SET @CostID = NEWID() SELECT @QuantityID as ID UNION ALL SELECT @LengthID UNION ALL SELECT @CostID
Two values are null. I want those excluded from this table
Here is the example of what I am trying to do:
DECLARE @QuantityID uniqueidentifier, @LengthID uniqueidentifier, @CostID uniqueidentifier DECLARE @Temp as Table (id uniqueidentifier NOT NULL Primary key) SET @CostID = NEWID() INSERT INTO @Temp SELECT @QuantityID as ID UNION ALL SELECT @LengthID UNION ALL SELECT @CostID
We have a package with a package variable. This variable is of data-type 'DateTime'. However, when i try to pass the value 'NULL' the package fails... i use the following statement with 'dtexec.exe'
/SET Package.Variables[MyDate].Value;"NULL"
What's the correct syntax for passing null-values? But maybe (because i cannot find anything on this) i should ask if this is even possible...
Using a string of IDs passed into a stored procedure as a VARCHAR parameter ('1,2,100,1020,') in an IN without parsing the list to a temp table or table variable. Here's the situation, I've got a stored procedure that is called all the time. It's working with some larger tables (100+ Million rows). The procedure passes in as one of the variables a list of IDs for the large table. This list can have anywhere from 1 to ~100 IDs passed to it.
Currently, we are using a function to parse the list of IDs into a temp table then joining the temp table to get the query:
CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[GetStuff] ( @IdList varchar(max) ) AS SET NOCOUNT ON SET TRANSACTION ISOLATION LEVEL READ UNCOMMITTED
[Code] .....
The problem we're running into is that since this proc gets called so often, we sometimes run into tempDB contention that slows this down. In my testing (unfortunately I don't have a good way of generating a production load) swapping the #table for an @table didn't make any difference which makes sense to me given that they are both allocated in the tempDB. One approach that I tried was that since the SELECT query is pretty simple, I moved it to dynamic SQL:
CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[GetStuff] ( @IdList varchar(max) ) AS SET NOCOUNT ON SET TRANSACTION ISOLATION LEVEL READ UNCOMMITTED
[Code] ....
The problem I had there, is that it creates an Ad Hoc plan for the query and only reuses it if the same list of parameters are passed in, so I get a higher CPU cost because it compiles a plan and it also causes the plan cache to bloat since the parameter list is almost always different. Is there an approach that I haven't considered that may get the best of both worlds, avoiding or minimizing tempDB contention but also not having to compile a new plan every time the proc is run?
I have created an SSIS package where I have added an Execute SQL Task to run an existing stored procedure in my SQL database.
General Tab:
Result Set: None Connection Type: OLE DB SourceType: Direct Input IsQueryStoredProcedure: False (this is greyed out and cannot be changed) Bypass Prepare: True SQL Statement: EXEC FL_CUSTOM_sp_ml_location_load ?, ?;
Parameter Mapping:
Variable Name Direction Data Type Prmtr Name Prmtr Size User: system_cd Input NVARCHAR 0 10 User: location_type_cd Input NVARCHAR 1 10
Variables:
location_type_cd - Data type - string; Value - Store (this is static) system_cd - Data type - string - ?????? The system code changes based on the system field for each record in the load table
STORED PROCEDURE: The stored procedure takes data from a load table and inserts it into another table:
Stored procedure variables: ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[sp_ml_location_load] (@system_cd nvarchar(10), @location_type_cd nvarchar(10)) AS BEGIN .....................
This is an example of what I want to accomplish: I need to be able to group all system 3 records, then pass 3 as the parameter for system_cd, run the stored procedure for those records, then group all system 18 records, then pass 18 as the parameter for system_cd, run the stored procedure for those records and keep doing this for each different system in the table until all records are processed.
I am not sure how or if it can be done to pass the system parameter to the stored procedure based on the system # in the sys field of the data.
I have an issue with using multiple parameters in SQL Reporting services where data is passed in from a stored procedure
When running the report in design mode - I can type in a parameter sting and it runs fine
In the report preview screen I can select single parameters by ticking the drop down list and again it runs fine
as soon as I tick more than one I get an error
An error occurred during local report processing
Query execution failed for data set €˜data'
Must declare the scalar variable '@parameter'
Some info...
The dataset 'workshop' is using a sproc to return the data string?
I get multiple values back fine in the sproc using this piece of code
(select [str] from iter_charlist_to_table( @Parameter, DEFAULT) ))
I have report parameters set to Multi-Value
Looking through the online books it says...
You can define a multivalued parameter for any report parameter that you create.
However, if you want to pass multiple parameter values back to a query, the following requirements must be satisfied:
The data source must be SQL Server, Oracle, or Analysis Services. The data source cannot be a stored procedure. Reporting Services does not support passing a multivalued parameter array to a stored procedure. The query must use an IN clause to specify the parameter.
I am writing a stored procedure that takes in a customer number, a current (most recent) sales order quote, a prior (to most current) sales order quote, a current item 1, and a prior item 1, all of these parameters are required. Then I have current item 2, prior item 2, current item 3, prior item 3, which are optional.
I added an IF to check for the value of current item 2, prior item 2, current item 3, prior item 3, if there are values, then variable tables are created and filled with data, then are retrieved. As it is, my stored procedure returns 3 sets of data when current item 1, prior item 1, current item 2, prior item 2, current item 3, prior item 3 are passed to it, and only one if 2, and 3 are omitted.I would like to learn how can I return this as a one data set, either using a full outer join, or a union all?I am including a copy of my stored procedure as it is.
I have a problem in my SSIS-package: If I try to execute a SQL-statement which uses a variable, it say "syntax-error". Here is how I tried:
1. a) Declared a variable. Name: tableName; Bereich (Sorry, I use the german version, no clue whats that on english versions): Package2; Type: STRING; Value: staticDB.StaticData_provider.dbo.C0123
b) Assigned this variable on SQL-Task->"Parameterzuordnung" as VARCHAR, parametername= NewParameterName
c) Used this on my SQL-Statement, SQLSourceType is directinput. Statement: "DELETE FROM @NewParameterName"
d) Running this results in following error: "Der Parametername wird nicht erkannt" Translation: "Parametername was not recognized."
2. a) see 1.a)
b) see 1.b)
c) Used this on my SQL-Statement, SQLSourceType is directinput. Statement: "DELETE FROM ?"
d) Running this results in following error: "Syntaxfehler, Berechtigungsverstoß oder anderer allgemeiner Fehler" Translation: "Syntaxerror, permision violation or other common error."
I am trying to get the max of a fields in to a user variable
SELECT User::maxnafseq = MAX(nafseq) FROM naf
The error I get is
[Execute SQL Task] Error: Executing the query "SELECT User::maxnafseq = MAX(nafseq) FROM naf" failed with the following error: "SQL: Column 'MAXNAFSEQ' is not found.". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.
I'm trying to run a statement against all of my servers - I've got about 10 statements working, but am having trouble with this one. It's in a for loop with a connection that is changed by a recordset which is a list of my servers. Here is the code - In the step before, I've created the tempdb.dbo.DBROLES table.
Code Block declare @dbname as varchar(200) declare @mSql1 as varchar(8000) DECLARE DBName_Cursor CURSOR FOR select '[' + name + ']' from master.dbo.sysdatabases where name not in ('mssecurity','tempdb') Order by name OPEN DBName_Cursor FETCH NEXT FROM DBName_Cursor INTO @dbName WHILE @@FETCH_STATUS = 0 BEGIN Set @mSQL1 = 'Insert into tempdb.dbo.DBROLES ( DBName, UserName, db_owner, db_accessadmin, db_securityadmin, db_ddladmin, db_datareader, db_datawriter, db_denydatareader, db_denydatawriter ) SELECT '''+ @dbName +''' as DBName ,UserName, '+char(13)+ ' Max(CASE RoleName WHEN ''db_owner'' THEN ''Yes'' ELSE ''No'' END) AS db_owner, Max(CASE RoleName WHEN ''db_accessadmin '' THEN ''Yes'' ELSE ''No'' END) AS db_accessadmin , Max(CASE RoleName WHEN ''db_securityadmin'' THEN ''Yes'' ELSE ''No'' END) AS db_securityadmin, Max(CASE RoleName WHEN ''db_ddladmin'' THEN ''Yes'' ELSE ''No'' END) AS db_ddladmin, Max(CASE RoleName WHEN ''db_datareader'' THEN ''Yes'' ELSE ''No'' END) AS db_datareader, Max(CASE RoleName WHEN ''db_datawriter'' THEN ''Yes'' ELSE ''No'' END) AS db_datawriter, Max(CASE RoleName WHEN ''db_denydatareader'' THEN ''Yes'' ELSE ''No'' END) AS db_denydatareader, Max(CASE RoleName WHEN ''db_denydatawriter'' THEN ''Yes'' ELSE ''No'' END) AS db_denydatawriter from ( select b.name as USERName, c.name as RoleName from ' + @dbName+'.dbo.sysmembers a '+char(13)+ ' join '+ @dbNAme+'.dbo.sysusers b '+char(13)+ ' on a.memberuid = b.uid join '+ @dbName +'.dbo.sysusers c on a.groupuid = c.uid )s Group by USERName order by UserName' --Print @mSql1 Execute (@mSql1) FETCH NEXT FROM DBName_Cursor INTO @dbname END CLOSE DBName_Cursor DEALLOCATE DBName_Cursor;
failed with the following error: "Must declare the variable '@dbName'.". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.

The program '[10320] DBA_Repository_Load (1).dtsx: DTS' has exited with code 0 (0x0).
I'm going to try creating the procedure on each server - that will probably work - I just don't get why it's not recognizing that variable. The line it is referring to is FETCH NEXT FROM DBName_Cursor INTO @dbName. Thanks for any info on this!
I use the variables "CustId,FileName,FileCreateDate" in the ReadWriteVariables collection. Any ideas would be appreciated as to how to get around this error.
Hey all, I have a stored procedure, which need one variable as parameter. I am trying to call this stored procedure from my DTS Task and my parameter is defined as the Global Variable in DTS. here is the SP call within my DTS Task
it gives me an error that DTSGlobalVariables function not defined. In this case how can i pass the value of Client Id which is my global variable to my SP.
