I am creating a view consisting of 278 to 300 columns. ( I want to use this view for data entry). The columns are of varchar(30) datatype. I am able to successfully create the view but upon opening the view in Enterprise Manager or Access I get the following error:
I have an application that is moving from an home made full text search engine to using the full text indexing engine of SQL 2005. I have a stored procedure that I want to behave as: check documents table to determine whether a full text index for SQL's full text engine has been created. If it has not, query the documentText table (which is the table for my in-house full text search) If it has, use the full text indexing engine
My problem is that compilation of the TSQL to create the stored procedure fails when the full text index has not already been created with the followign error:
Msg 7601, Level 16, State 2, Procedure My_FullTextSearch, Line 0
Cannot use a CONTAINS or FREETEXT predicate on table or indexed view 'Documents' because it is not full-text indexed.
In my test lab, I tried: 1. creating the full text index 2. creating the stored procedure 3. deleting the ful text index which gets me to the desired end result of having a stored procedure that can determine whether or not the full text index has been created yet (the procedure works in this state). But I creating this index as part of this stored procedure creation in production is not an option.
My question - Can I somehow tell SQL to ignore the compilation errors it encounters while creating this stored procedure? If not, is there some other way to create this "smart" stored procedure?
Here's a code snippet stripped down to the bare minimum to generate the error:
CREATE PROCEDURE [My_FullTextSearch]
@Term VarChar(1000)
AS
BEGIN
SET NOCOUNT ON;
IF NOT OBJECTPROPERTY(OBJECT_ID('Documents'), 'TableHasActiveFulltextIndex')=1
BEGIN
Select [DocumentID]
from [DocumentText]
where [Term] like '%' + LTRIM(@Term) + '%'
END
ELSE
BEGIN
Select [key] from FREETEXTTABLE(Documents, Contents, @Term)
hi, i have ms sql server installed as a client in one of the system ..i am able to access the database in another system namely pgcab26 ..but when i try to access another server i am getting the following error.
Hi, Currently i have one store procedure which is used to report generation. It creats some temporary tables ( # tables), and also uses while loop.
Now i wanted to create a view for the same functionality due to client requirment.
Now when i changed the code, it tells me that u cannot create a view with # tables. With the following Error : "" Views or functions are not allowed on temporary tables. Table names that begin with '#' denote temporary tables""
Hoping someone will be able to give me a little advice. I accidently delted a view from one of our application databases (Like you do!!).
I actually repliacated the database 2 month ago onto another server to do some testing. Me thinking I was clever decided to go to the copied database and copy the "syntax" for creating the view and then run it on the database I deleted the view but I get the following message I can't for the life of me work out what the problem is.
Has anyone seen this before ??
Server: Msg 207, Level 16, State 3, Procedure VP_TIMESHTPUNV42, Line 2 Invalid column name 'NAME'. Server: Msg 207, Level 16, State 1, Procedure VP_TIMESHTPUNV42, Line 2 Invalid column name 'NAME'.
I need help writing the query below. ss1_oil has a column storing values in the decimal format (1, 2 and 3) and ss1_uppmatvardelista har the corresponding text for these stored in description column. My problem is that I have to get the text and insert it into a view to be able to build an Analysis cube.
ss1_uppmatvardelista value decimal(14,4) description varchar(50)
Examplevalues: value description 0 invalid 1 text1 2 text2 3 text3 null text missing --------------------------------------
ss1_oil id int value decimal(14,4) Examplevalues: id value 1 1 2 3 --------------------------------------
I want to create a view that presents the following values taken from ss1_uppmatvardelista and ss1_oil: ss1_view_oil id int description varchar(50)
I need to create a view using a stored procedure .
The task is to Upload multiple sql server tables sourcing data from flat files as well as SQL server tables .It is the process of Data migration. After loading few tables,I need to create a view on thoes tables which can be used (queried )to load furthe tables.
I need to AUTOMATE THIS PROCESS .Means Once I schedule the job .It should take fire the stored procedures one after another . I am thinking to create a view though a stored procedure . You can suggest me alternate ways to do same .
I'm trying to restore a db from backup using SQL 6.5. The new db (created using sql statements not enterprise manager) and backup reside on 1 server.I get one of 2 errors.Either error msg #10025[possible network error.Write to SQL server failed.Invalid connection] are encountered when trying to do the restore or the database "loads" forever and then error #603(There are not enough system session descriptors available to run this query. The maximum number available to a process is %d. Split query and rerun.) is encounterd. Please help.
Does any one know how to resolve DBCC errors 9000 to 9999? The BOL does not give any explaination as to how to handle such errors. Microsoft search engine also does not offer any help on these error messags.
I am trying to Sharepoint Portal server with sql2005 on the normal everyday transactions everything works fine. However when we try to run SPS restore cannot we keep getting this error. This is VERY URGENT as we are trying to deploy a new site but cannot until issue is resolved. 'TWIGAdministrator' has already been given dbowner rights to all databases and can run backup but not restore.
Error Message:
Login failed for user 'TWIGAdministrator'. [CLIENT: 192.168.1.8]
Surely someone has tried this these are two very popular applications but unfortunately there is nothing in the sps site or sql2005 to help with this issue.
We have a script that drops the views on all the database tables and then creates them as part of version update of the database. For instance:
if exists (select * from dbo.sysobjects where id = object_id(N'[dbo].[SPONSOR_SYSTEM_TD]') and OBJECTPROPERTY(id, N'IsView') = 1)
drop view [dbo].[SPONSOR_SYSTEM_TD]
GO
CREATE VIEW dbo.SPONSOR_SYSTEM_TD AS SELECT sponsor_installation_type_code,install_directory,sponsor_version,data_directory,system_install_text,record_status_code,mod_date_time,mod_login_id,create_date_time,create_login_id,replicate_to_server_flag,Sponsor_ID FROM SPONSOR_SYSTEM
GO
This above code is done for all 120 tables and has worked fine until now. All our clients have been using SQL 2000. Now we are getting clients with SQL 2005.
The problem is that for these clients using SQL 2005 on 20 of the tables we get the error:
Could not resolve expression for schemabound object or constraint.
And the View is not made for these tables. I saw where this could because the server and database collation is differemt but in this case it's the same for both. I can't see any differences so far between the tables that a View was successfully made for and the ones that it wasn't.
What else should I be looking for that would give this error? Thanks
I'm trying to use a SQL 2000 view in one of my sources. The view isnt anything special --- just three tables that have been unioned together. All these three tables have the EXACT same datatypes as well as column names. There are no constraints on these tables (yet). There is an identity seed on the first ID column. However, when I try to access this view, it generates the following error:
Server: Msg 4502, Level 16, State 1, Procedure MyView, Line 5 View or function 'MyView' has more column names specified than columns defined. Server: Msg 4413, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Could not use view or function 'MyView' because of binding errors.
A recent SharePoint upgrade has rendered several views obsolete. I am redefining them so that our upper level executive reports show valid data.(yes, I know that doing anything to sharepoint could cause MS to deny support, having said that, this is something I've inherited and need to fix, pronto) The old view was created like so:
USE [AHMC] GO /****** Object: View [dbo].[vwSurgicalVolumes] Script Date: 09/04/2015 09:28:03 ******/ SET ANSI_NULLS ON GO SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON GO CREATE VIEW [dbo].[vwSurgicalVolumes] AS SELECT
[code]....
As I said, this view is used in a report showing surgical minutes.SharePoint is now on a new server, which is linked differently (distributed?) I've used OPENQUERY to get my 'new' query to work;
SELECT * FROM OPENQUERY ([PORTALWEBDB], 'SELECT --AllLists AL.tp_ID AS ALtpID ,AL.tp_WebID as altpwebid ,AL.tp_Title AS ALTitle
[code]....
My data (ie surgical minutes, etc) seems to be in the XML column, AUD.tp_ColumnSet . So I need to parse it out and convert it to INT to maintain consistency with the previous view. How do I do this within the context of the view definition? Here is a representation of the new and old view data copied to excel :
can't format it to make it look decent. InHouseCases =2, InHouseMinutes=419, OutPatientCases =16, OutPatientMinutes=1230. This corresponds to the new data I can see in the XML column; 2.000000000000000e+000 is indeed 2 and 4.190000000000000e_002 is indeed 419.
I accidently deleted the file that I was working on in notepad that had the tables and views that I created. Is there a way to retrieve a list and the code that I put in for the tables and views?
I have writen a Function which call's the same function it self. I'm getting the error as below.
Maximum stored procedure, function, trigger, or view nesting level exceeded (limit 32). Can any one give me a solution for this problem I have attached the function also.
CREATE FUNCTION dbo.GetLegsFor(@IncludeParent bit, @EmployeeID float) RETURNS @retFindReports TABLE (EmployeeID float, Name nvarchar(255), BossID float) AS BEGIN IF (@IncludeParent=1) BEGIN INSERT INTO @retFindReports SELECT MemberId,Name, referredby FROM Amemberinfo WHERE Memberid=@EmployeeID END DECLARE @Report_ID float, @Report_Name nvarchar(255), @Report_BossID float DECLARE RetrieveReports CURSOR STATIC LOCAL FOR SELECT MemberId,Name, referredby FROM Amemberinfo WHERE referredby=@EmployeeID OPEN RetrieveReports FETCH NEXT FROM RetrieveReports INTO @Report_ID, @Report_Name, @Report_BossID WHILE (@@FETCH_STATUS = 0) BEGIN INSERT INTO @retFindReports SELECT * FROM dbo.GetLegsFor(0,@Report_ID) INSERT INTO @retFindReports VALUES(@Report_ID,@Report_Name, @Report_BossID) FETCH NEXT FROM RetrieveReports INTO @Report_ID, @Report_Name, @Report_BossID END CLOSE RetrieveReports DEALLOCATE RetrieveReports
We have an SSAS instance where when we run the query "select * from $system.discover_traces" the creation time in the resultset shows a different time from when we actually started the trace.
for example if we have create the trace at 3.30pm it shows 7.35 pm in the Sql server management studio resultset when we run the query "select * from $system.discover_traces".
I recently updated the datatype of a sproc parameter from bit to tinyint. When I executed the sproc with the updated parameters the sproc appeared to succeed and returned "1 row(s) affected" in the console. However, the update triggered by the sproc did not actually work.
The table column was a bit which only allows 0 or 1 and the sproc was passing a value of 2 so the table was rejecting this value. However, the sproc did not return an error and appeared to return success. So is there a way to configure the database or sproc to return an error message when this type of error occurs?
I have a parent package that calls child packages inside a For Each container. When I debug/run the parent package (from VS), I get the following error message: Warning: The Execution method succeeded, but the number of errors raised (3) reached the maximum allowed (1); resulting in failure. This occurs when the number of errors reaches the number specified in MaximumErrorCount. Change the MaximumErrorCount or fix the errors.
It appears to be failing while executing the child package. However, the logs (via the "progress" tab) for both the parent package and the child package show no errors other than the one listed above (and that shows in the parent package log). The child package appears to validate completely without error (all components are green and no error messages in the log). I turned on SSIS logging to a text file and see nothing in there either.
If I bump up the MaximumErrorCount in the parent package and in the Execute Package Task that calls the child package to 4 (to go one above the error count indicated in the message above), the whole thing executes sucessfully. I don't want to leave the Max Error Count set like this. Is there something I am missing? For example are there errors that do not get logged by default? I get some warnings, do a certain number of warnings equal an error?

We use windows NT authentication. We did not do any change on NT. The SQL Server daily schedule job usally stoped at 10:00AM, but today from the Window NT Task Manager, we can see that the SQL Server is still running untill now.
hi, I have settup up sql mail and did the following: 1. created an E-mail account and configured Out look by creating a pop3 mail profile. tested it by sending and receiving mail, that is ook 2. I Created one domain account for MSsqlserver and Sql Agent service. both services use same account and start automatically in the control panel-services 3. I used the profile that I created in outlook to test the sql mail but got an error: Error 22030 : A MAPI error ( error number:273) occurred: MapiLogon Ex Failed due to MAPI Error 273: MAPI Logon Failed
I really do not know what went wrong. I followed the steps from bol and still having a problem. Am I missing something.
I do have a valid email account I do have a valid domain account I tested outlook using the email account and it worked. so why sql server does not recognise MAPI.
My next question, How to configure MAPI in Sql server if what I did was wrong.
Hi, I have 2 windows 2000 server in cluster with sql server 2000 enterprise edition installed. I have activated the Server-Requested Encryption by using the sql server network utility (Force Protocol Encryption). After this, I have stoped sql server service. But I can't start it at this moment. The error is: 19015: The encrypton is required but no available certificat has been found.
I am looking to create a constraint on a table that allows multiplenulls but all non-nulls must be unique.I found the following scripthttp://www.windowsitpro.com/Files/0.../Listing_01.txtthat works fine, but the following lineCREATE UNIQUE CLUSTERED INDEX idx1 ON v_multinulls(a)appears to use indexed views. I have run this on a version of SQLStandard edition and this line works fine. I was of the understandingthat you could only create indexed views on SQL Enterprise Edition?
Hello, I am facing a huge problem in my sql server database using access as a front end.The main problem is trying to execute queries "views" ,since they reside on sql server now,and using variables or parameters in reports and forms to filter on this query. Ex. how can the following be implemented using the same query but in sql server? Access ------ SELECT MAT_Charts.YYYYMM FROM MAT_Charts WHERE ((([Area_Code] & "-" & [GROUP_CODE])=[Reports]![MAT_Chart_C1].[MAT_Key])) GROUP BY MAT_Charts.YYYYMM;
It is specifically this statement in which I am interested: [GROUP_CODE])=[Reports]![MAT_Chart_C1].[MAT_Key]))
Write a CREATE VIEW statement that defines a view named Invoice Basic that returns three columns: VendorName, InvoiceNumber, and InvoiceTotal. Then, write a SELECT statement that returns all of the columns in the view, sorted by VendorName, where the first letter of the vendor name is N, O, or P.
This is what I have so far,
CREATE VIEW InvoiceBasic AS SELECT VendorName, InvoiceNumber, InvoiceTotal From Vendors JOIN Invoices ON Vendors.VendorID = Invoices.VendorID
I created a query, which makes use of a temp table, and I need the results to be displayed in a View. Unfortunately, Views do not support temp tables, as far as I know, so I put my code in a stored procedure, with the hope I could call it from a View....
I compared view query plan with query plan if I run the same statementfrom view definition and get different results. View plan is moreexpensive and runs longer. View contains 4 inner joins, statisticsupdated for all tables. Any ideas?
