View Diagram Pane - How Save Layout After I Change It? 2000

change it in the diagram pane?

VS Built-in Query Builder - Not Possible To Save Diagram Pane Content
Feb 18, 2008I have VS2008 Express and I am using Sql Server Compact Edition 3.5 which is distributed with it.
As I experienced, there is no possibility to use this database from Sql Server Management Studio (because it is version 3.5 and Management Studio demands version 3.1).
So, the only possibility to design a query is to use the built in Query Builder in Visual Studio Express. This query builder does not save the Diagram Pane content layout. I mean, when a query has 10 tables, I place these tables in the Diagram Pane in some order that makes sense (e.g. to make all relations visible). After saving and reopening the query in Query Builder, all tables are on the left side, in a complete disorder.
Is it possible to somehow save the Diagram Pane content along with the SQL ??
Linked Server Oracle Tables - Not Able To Add To Query Designers Show Diagram Pane Via Add Table Dialogue
Apr 18, 2008I am new to sqlserver.
1)I created a linked server to a oracle database, works fine. Now I am writing queries, using "Query Desgner", when I do a "Add table" linked server tables do not appear. Is this a limitation. I can get around the problem by creating a view.
2) When I use "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle" for linked server, some times connection seems to get lost. On one occassion, the next day it was fine, it re-established itself.

View Layout Is Different Than Print Layout

I designed a report in reporting services 2005. When i look at the view layout for the report everything is aligned correctly but if i go to print preview one matrix is shifted up or down. I have tried to put the matrix inside a rectangle but the issue is still present. Does anyone know why this is happening or any suggestions on what to do to fix it.

No Parameter Pane When Reporting In 2005 Against A 2000 AS Cube

VS2005
SSRS2005
SSAS2000 cube based on data from SQL 2005 database
When i connect to the SSAS cube and create a dataset in a SSRS 2005 report i do not get a parameter pane.
Also, if i right click on a dimension & select "Add to filter" i get the following error message
"Object reference not set to an instance of an object"
It's not my installation of SQL 2005, as I can connect to an SSAS2005 cube and get the filter/parameter pane and do not get the error message. Parameters work fine.
Have i come across a known issue when reporting on SQL 2005 versus a SQL 2000 AS Cube... or can someone shed some light on the issue for me....
If someone can tell me how to display screenshots I can add them to a post

SQL Layout View Issue
May 14, 2008I have a report that i have totaled and working correctly and I am able to get the 2 columns to sum up but I need to get those 2 sumed columns to be divided to get the gross prof %.
The columns that I have summed are
=Sum(Fields!eqpsldamt.Value)
=Sum(Fields!grosspro.Value)
I need to take those summed values and divide them but I do not know the propper syntax to do this. I thought it would have been
=SUM(Fields!grosspro.Value) / SUM(eqpsldamt.Value)
But this did not work any help would be great thanks!

I am using SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services and Reporting Services with Visual studio 2005 Professional Edition. I have developed couple of reports in visual studio 2005 environment using report server project of business intelligence projects.
In one of my report I am using MDX query which is created using Query Builder of Report wizard. Once I finished with report wizard a report created and shown with data, layout and preview tabs. I can preview the report. But, when I click on data tab there is no MDX query exists. After that I can't even preview the report.
Please let me know how can I solve this issue

Oct 2, 2002I previously installed SQL 7.0 on my machine. The name of the Server was DEVELOPMENT. Unfortunately I needed to change the computer name, but I had already created my databases and did not want to lose the information. It was suggested that I should simply change the computer name and reinstall SQl. I changed the name to DEVSERVER. This seemed to work fine. Now I am having a problem when I try to create a DTS package on the renamed server from another SQL server . I receive the following error. "A connection could not be established to Development. Specified SQLserver not found" The server which is now called Devserver, is registered on the server I am creating the package from, however the message seems to imply that the server I'm connecting to is still called Developement and cannot be found. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Merging 2000 And 2005 Databases, Save As 2000
Apr 30, 2008I have to merge the data from two databases, one is in SQL Server 2005 format, one is in 2000. The merged data will then reside on a SQL Server 2000 platform. Is there an easy way to do this through Management Studio or Enterprise Manager? Or will we have to export the data from the 2005 database to a flat file and import it into a new 2000 database. And then do the merge?

2. Create new query
3. Click Save
I see "DocumentsSQL Server Management Studio" folder, but I want to change it to be "d:". How do I do this?
I tried:
1. [URL]- in folder "DocumentsSQL Server Management StudioSettingsSQL Server Management Studio" there is a file NewSettings.vssettings, setting it to "d:" or "d:" didn't work.
2. Changing HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftMicrosoft SQL Server100ToolsShell VisualStudioProjectsLocation didn't work too. There is no "Shell" under "110Tools"
Did I do something wrong, or is there another way?

Below are the steps from the SQL Server 2005 documentation on how to create a database diagram. The problem is that when I right click on the Database Diagrams folder I am only given two options. They are:"Working with SQL Server diagrams" and "Refresh"There is no menu choice to create a new database diagram. Can anyone tell me what the problem here is?

I create the parameters for a custom report after right click on a specific Cube and select Browse to arrive at a view where i can define dimensions and parameters as well as drag and drop measure to the report rows and columns. The left top File bottom only give me a Save Selection or Save ALL option. However, i'm not sure where it saves it to or if it saves the settings for this custom report at all.
I pull this report monthly and it's a pain to recreate all the parameters. How to save this template for future pulls or maybe even incorporate the pull into excel for monthly refresh instead?

Login name called ARCTEC and assigned to schema ARCTEC.
Views are ARCTEC.myview1 , ARCTEC.myview2
When i use login ARCTEC I can amend the view.
Im trying to prevent this and only have the login beable to run it.
I right click on the ARCTEC.myview1 permissions and keep adding ARCTEC and clicking on deny and
i still can login and amend the view.
What am doing wrong.
