I have a client site running SQL 2000. It seems some data rows have
been deleted and several tables have been dropped. I have a current db
backup which contains a 34GB log file, but I don't know how to view it.
Is there any way to search through the log file and determine when the
data was lost or what process/user dropped the tables?

I’m struggling to view the transaction log for a database.
I’m using the following command structure
DBCC log ( {dbid|dbname}, [, type={-1|0|1|2|3|4}] )
PARAMETERS:
Dbid or dbname - Enter either the dbid or the name of the database
in question.
type - is the type of output:
0 - minimum information (operation, context, transaction id)
1 - more information (plus flags, tags, row length)
2 - very detailed information (plus object name, index name,
page id, slot id)
3 - full information about each operation
4 - full information about each operation plus hexadecimal dump
of the current transaction log's row.
-1 - full information about each operation plus hexadecimal dump
of the current transaction log's row, plus Checkpoint Begin,
DB Version, Max XACTID
Which I got from a web site, however the output does not make sense to me
Ideally I would like to analyse which SQL insert commands are predominantly using the log file
Any ideas how to do this or a tool that u recommend

I have tried just about everything i could find on the internet to fix this.
Anyway.....I have a sql databasewith 3 colums: Client ID, Client Name, and Client Address
I have no trouble reading the database through the gridview, but when i try to add a script that allows me to add to that database off of my site, I get error after error.
Anyone who can figure this out must be a sql genius (or I am a complete idoit).

I'm some what of a noob when it comes to ASP.NET 2.0 and SQL Server 2005 Express editions, so please bare with me. I have created a basic database that is only one table. One of the fields is LogPicture with type of image. I just want to go into the table and manually place a picture in the table, but it seems like I can not get the format down. I have tried including the picture I want into the project, but no dice. I've also tried putting the physical pathname (on the harddrive) and the web address of this field in there. Suggestions please?

Is there any way of making it visible where there aren't any records?My web pages are currently hosted at vwdhosting. I have uploaded my database with the record structure onto the web site and I am using a remote connection string to access it. I have had users updating data in another table on the remote database. If I add records to my new table locally and upload the database to the remote site, all the data that my users have been adding will be lost. I building some reports with SSRS, and showing data in a table. The table has one Details row that forms at the end multiple rows with the tree view (+ and -).
Is there a way to open the tree view upwards and not downwards so that the children of level 2, 3 etc come over the parent row?
I've goggled it everywhere, but I don't seem to find the answer. If anyone could help me out, I would appreciated.

Hello, I browsed the internet for an answer but all I can
find is the mention of a third party tool called log explorer
that cost a grand for a single license ... no thank you,
but basically what i want to do is be able to open the .ldf file
that is created to log transactions when you first create a database.
Or if there is another method to view transaction logs then please mention it.
I tried DBCC Log('database') which did not provide me with much information
which I can use.

Hi guys, just wanna ask about the backup and restore database method. What's the best way for database and restore which able to view all the transaction logs after the database being restored. Currently I backup my database daily for recovery purposes. However, if I restore the backup file at another server and use SQL log application for viewing the prefer database's transaction log, it shows all the previous log had been truncated.
Therefore, I want to know is there any way that able to get the transaction logs after restore from a database backup file? Hope able to get any assistance here as soon as possible. Thank you.

I have a design a SSIS Package for ETL Process. In my package i have to read the data from the tables and then insert into the another table of same structure.
for reading the data i have write the Dynamic TSQL based on some condition and based on that it is using 25 different function to populate the data into different 25 column. Tsql returning correct data and is working fine in Enterprise manager. But in my SSIS package it show me time out ERROR.
I have increase and decrease the time to catch the error but it is still there i have tried to set 0 for commandout Properties.

I used my DB and some tables for replication earlier, now i removed my all replication subscription and publication and my DB is out of replication.
Now i am altering my table for PK then its giving err as follows:
Cannot alter the table 'mstparty' because it is being published for replication.
From where i can find details, i mean in which sys table all replication obj are stored.
There is no Replication now on DB then why still table 'mstparty' has a replication err when i alter table.
Please advice as i am not able to alter my table or tables which earlier i used in replication and now i removed replication.

I am writing a new database which is to have three seperate columns.. saluation, first name and surname. What would be the best way to split the column up?? I was thinking on concentrating on the spaces??
Note: some conacts may not have saluation inc in the contact column, and in this case the saluation column should be blank...

Now i want to see what does what and delete the unnecessary ones.
How can i See the logic in the trigger.
I can get the trigger name but not the logic using this query .

How to see the logic.
Where is, (or even does it exists) the best place to look for some details on when package execution fails if running as a scheduled job. Obviously when you run from the command line or in VS, there is plenty of output detail on progress and on the source of errors, but when you run it as a scheduled job, it just says step 1 failed in the sql server log, and package foo failed in the NT application log . Is there anywhere to find this info or do we need to build error traps into the package to write stuff out somewhere?
