Need Script For Column Visibility Based On Group's Visibility Toggle

Feb 13, 2008

Hello,

I'm using SSRS 2005

I'm trying to write an expression for the "Hidden" property of a column in a table. The column is only populated with data if the group on my table is open. If the group is collapsed, then the column is empty. I'd like to make the column hidden if the group is collapsed. So I'm thinking it would be something like this:

=Iif(Table_1_Group.Hidden = "True", "True", "False")

But I can't find anyone who has written this anywhere.

I'm basically trying to make this report do the same thing a matrix does, but the matrix doesn't let me label the columns. I put textboxes above the matrix in line with the columns, but when I deploy the report to ReportManager, the textboxes get thrown all over the place and don't line up with the columns anymore.

So I guess if you can't answer the first question, an alternate question I have is how are you supposed to label the columns (row groups) in your matrix? They don't have headers, if I try to line textboxes up with them they get all messed up during deployment. They have that textbox up there in the top left corner that runs across the top of all of the row group columns, but if I put labels separated spaces in that textbox, the spaces get removed in rendering so the text is pushed all to the left and doesn't line up anymore.

Thanks,
Andy

Conditional Sum Based On Visibility

Mar 12, 2007

Hi,

I have a report that is conditionally showing a textbox based on the previous entry that is working correctly.

My issue is that the non visible entries are still being added to my Sum statement at the end of the report.

I need a way to exclude an entry based on its visibility.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Change Background Color Based On Visibility

When you set a row's hidden property to true, RS writes a white row. Is there a way to keep the background color the same is it was before the row was hidden and just not display the data?

Can you do a IIF(Hidden=True) expression????

Thanks.

Set Variable Based On Result Of Procedure OR Update Columns Fromsproc Result

Jul 20, 2005

I need to send the result of a procedure to an update statement.Basically updating the column of one table with the result of aquery in a stored procedure. It only returns one value, if it didnt Icould see why it would not work, but it only returns a count.Lets say I have a sproc like so:create proc sp_countclients@datecreated datetimeasset nocount onselect count(clientid) as countfrom clientstablewhere datecreated > @datecreatedThen, I want to update another table with that value:Declare @dc datetimeset @dc = '2003-09-30'update anothertableset ClientCount = (exec sp_countclients @dc) -- this line errorswhere id_ = @@identityOR, I could try this, but still gives me error:declare @c intset @c = exec sp_countclients @dcWhat should I do?Thanks in advance!Greg

Sub-report Visibility By Expression With Two Conditions Based On Parameters

May 30, 2007

Product version : SQL Reporting Service 2005 with SQL SP2

It's a report with 3 sub-reports in it, i want to display only one of the 3 sub-reports at a time depending on 1 or 2 parameters received by the parent report. These parameters are verified by an expression into the visibility tab of each sub-report. The two parameters are 2 lists with possibles values between 1 and 2 (not query based). I have verified these values and they are correctly received by report depending on the selection of each list.

Ex.: SubReport1.expression = IIf(Parameters!Regroupement.Value = 1, True, False)

SubReport2.expression =IIf(Parameters!Regroupement.Value = 2 AND Parameters!SautPage.Value = 1, True, False)

SubReport3.expression =IIf(Parameters!Regroupement.Value = 2 AND Parameters!SautPage.Value = 2, True, False)

So here are the posibilities :

when Regroupement.Value = 1 --> SubReport1 will be shown

when Regroupement.Value = 2 AND SautPage.Value = 1 --> SubReport2 will be shown

when Regroupement.Value = 2 AND SautPage.Value = 2 --> SubReport3 will be shown

Now why that doesn't work ? I always see the same report and it's not the right one displayed even i change the selection of my 2 lists for the parameters value.

Toggle Page Footer Visibility Based On Subreport Being Rendered

Nov 19, 2007

I want to toggle the visibility of a report item in my page footer based on whether or not a particular subreport has been rendered.

The report has 3 subreports. The subreport above the subreport in question can span several pages, so the subreport I want information on can render on page 1 (for a short report) or page 12 (for example) on a longer report.

Is there a way to determine within the main report when a particular subreport has been rendered and is currently visible?

Thanks in advance for all replies.

Reporting Services :: Change Visibility Of Textbox (Tablix) Based On Data From Two Datasets?

Jun 11, 2010

I have two charts which are based on their own separate datasets.  One chart shows data aggregated by MONTH, the other chart shows data aggregated by WEEK.  I have put both of these charts inside a rectangle and set their visibility based on whether or not there is data returned by their respective datasets.  This part is working just fine.

However, I have added a tablix to the report, deleted all columns and rows leaving only one remaining row/column so it looks like a textbox.  This tablix is sitting on top of the two charts.  The problem i'm having is that when both charts return no data and they do not show up in the report, the tablix still remains visible. I need to set the visibility but based on a condition between the two different datasets behind each chart.

Here's what I need:  If ONE of the charts returns data, then I need the tablix to be visible.  If neither chart returns data, then I need the tablix to be invisible.  I'm trying to write an IIF statement comparing the two datasets but I get inscope errors.  Isn't it possible to compare values which are contained in two separate datasets in SSRS?

Seems like something like the following logic should work:

IIF(CountRows("Monthly_DataSet") > 0 OR CountRows("Weekly_DataSet") > 0 , FALSE, TRUE)

Obviously the above expression will return syntax errors, but you'll get the point as to how i'm thinking. How can I set the visibility of the tablix based on these two charts?

SQL Server 2012 :: Updating A Field Based On Result Set

Feb 21, 2014

I am trying to update records based on the results of a query with a subquery.

The result set being produced shows the record of an item number. This result produces the correct ItemNo which I need to update. The field I am looking to update is an integer named Block.

When I run the update statement all records are updated and not the result set when I run the query by itself.

Below you will find the code I am running:

create table #Items
(
ItemNovarchar (50),
SearchNo varchar (50),
Historical int,
Blocked int

[Code] ....

Below is the code I am using in an attempt to update the block column but it updates all records and not the ones which I need to have the Blocked field set to 1.

Update #items set Blocked = 1
Where Exists
(
SELECT ItemNo=MAX(CASE rn WHEN 1 THEN ItemNo END)
--,SearchNo
--,COUNT(*)

[Code] ...

Why is the update changing each record? How can I change the update to choose the correct records?

Calculated Column Based On Case Statement Result

Dec 10, 2013

I'm new to SQL Server and would like to add a calculated column to this query from the report writer in our ERP system based on the NextFreq case statement result.

Basically, I want to create a column called service with result as follows:

If IV.meter > NextFreq then the result should be 'OVERDUE'
If (NextFreq - IV.meter) <50 then the result should be 'DUE SOON'
Otherwise the result should be 'NOT DUE'

This is the code from the current report writer query:

Select IV.item, IV.meter, isnull(wt.name,0)as name, case when whh.meterstop is null then 0 end meterstop, whh.rejected, Case when cast(meterstop as int) > 0 then cast(meterstop as int) when meterstop is null then isnull(IV.meter,0) else isnull(IV.meter,0) end EndMeter, ISNULL(CAST(SUBSTRING(wt.name,1,4)as int),0) as LastFreq,
case when whh.rejected = 1 then ISNULL(CAST(SUBSTRING(wt.name,1,4)as int),0) when ISNULL(CAST(SUBSTRING(wt.name,1,4)as int),0) = 0 then 100 when ISNULL(CAST(SUBSTRING(wt.name,1,4)as int),0) = 100

Trigger A Dataflow Based On Execute SQL Task Result

Jul 18, 2007

Hi,

I have a 'Execute SQL Task' in my 'control flow', my 'Execute SQL Task' will return a value which I am assigning to a variable. Based on the value of the variable, I need to control my other flows. If the variable's value is 1 then I should invoke a dataflow, else I should write a failure error message in event viewer. Please could someone provide some inputs on how this can be done.

'Execute SQL Task' ----->value 1 ------>data flow to be executed

'Execute SQL Task' ----->value !=1 ------> write some error message in the event viewer and no tasks should be executed after that.

Thanks

Derived Column Based On Result Of Oracle Query

Sep 18, 2007

Hi,

I need to create a derived column for each row in a SQL dataset.

This derived column needs to be created by passing across two values from the SQL dataset and querying an Oracle table based on those parameters. If the Oracle query returns a record(s) then the derived column should be set to 1 otherwise leave it as default (0).

One of these parameters needs to check a date range so I can't use a Lookup Transformation...any ideas how I can accomplish this ?

Thanks

How To Limit The Select Query Result Based On Start And End Parameter

May 23, 2001

I am a newbie to SQL Server.
I have a problem, in filtering the records returned by a query.
I have a table which contains 1 million records, it has a user defined primary key which is of character type.
The problem is i need to filter the output of a select query on the table based on two parameters i send to that query.
The first parameter will be the starting row number and the second one is the ending row number.
I need a procedure to do this.

For Eg:
MyProc_GetRowsFromBigTable(startRowNo,endRowNo) should get me only the rows in the specified range.

Thanks in advance,

How To Build A Procedure That Returns Different Numbers Of Columns As A Result Based On A Parameter

Nov 23, 2006

/*Subject: How to build a procedure that returns differentnumbers of columns as a result based on a parameter. You can copy/paste this whole post in SQL Query Analyzeror Management Studio and run it once you've made surethere is no harmful code.Currently we have several stored procedures which finalresult is a select with several joins that returns manycolumns (150 in one case, maybe around 50 the average). We have analyzed our application and found out that mostof the time not all the columns are used. SP To Perform Query Based On Multiple Rows From Another Query's Result Set

Nov 7, 2007

I have two tables .. in one (containing user data, lets call it u).The important fields are:u.userName, u.userID (uniqueidentifier) and u.workgroupID (uniqueidentifier)The second table (w) has fieldsw.delegateID (uniqueidentifier), w.workgroupID (uniqueidentifier) The SP takes the delegateID and I want to gather all the people from table u where any of the workgroupID's for that delegate match in w.  one delegateID may be tied to multiple workgroupID's. I know I can create a temporary table (@wgs) and do a: INSERT INTO @wgs SELECT workgroupID from w WHERE delegateID = @delegateIDthat creates a result set with all the workgroupID's .. this may be one, none or multipleI then want to get all u.userName, u.userID FROM u WHERE u.workgroupIDThis query works on an individual workgroupID (using another temp table, @users to aggregate the results was my thought, so that's included)         INSERT INTO @users             SELECT u.userName,u.userID                 FROM  tableU u                LEFT JOIN tableW w ON w.workgroupID = u.workgroupID                WHERE u.workgroupID = @workGroupIDI'm trying to avoid looping or using a CURSOR for the performance hit (had to kick the development server after one of the cursor attempts yesterday)Essentially what I'm after is:             SELECT u.userName,u.userID
                FROM  tableU u
                LEFT JOIN tableW w ON w.workgroupID = u.workgroupID
WHERE u.workgroupID = (SELECT workgroupID from w WHERE delegateID = @delegateID) ... but that syntax does not work and I haven't found another work around yet.TIA!

SHOWACCESS
showID
remoteID

VIDEOS
videoDate
showID

SQL is as follows:

SELECT shows.showID AS showID, shows.showTitle AS showTitle,
(SELECT MAX(videos.videoFilmDate) AS vidDate FROM videos WHERE videos.showID = shows.showID)
FROM shows, showAccess
WHERE shows.showID = showAccess.showID
AND showAccess.remoteID=21
ORDER BY vidDate DESC;

I had it ordering by showTitle and it worked fine, but I need it to order by vidDate.
Can anyone shed some light on where I am going wrong?

thanks

CASE Function Result With Result Expression Values (for IN Keyword)

Aug 2, 2007

I am trying to code a WHERE xxxx IN ('aaa','bbb','ccc') requirement but it the return values for the IN keyword changes according to another column, thus the need for a CASE function.

WHERE GROUP.GROUP_ID = 2 AND DEPT.DEPT_ID = 'D' AND WORK_TYPE_ID IN ( CASE DEPT_ID WHEN 'D' THEN 'A','B','C' <---- ERROR WHEN 'F' THEN 'C','D ELSE 'A','B','C','D' END )

I kept on getting errors, like

Msg 156, Level 15, State 1, Line 44Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'WHERE'.
which leads me to assume that the CASE ... WHEN ... THEN statement does not allow mutiple values for result expression. Is there a way to get the SQL above to work or code the same logic in a different manner in just one simple SQL, and not a procedure or T-SQL script.

Visibility For A Field

Feb 28, 2007

I have a field on a report where on occasion, will display 'PR'. We need to have this field hidden if that is the value of the field. I wrote an expression for visibility like: iif(Fields!ThisName.Value="'PR'", false, true), however it still diplays. Is there something else that I need to do here?

Thanks for the information

Metadata Visibility

Feb 25, 2008

Hi,

I'm running the following query in SQL Server 2005:
select name from master..syslogins;
It is being executed from within a stored procedure.

For user 'sa' - I get the complete list of users.
For a user (say 'user1') with NO sysadmin privilege - I get only two names: 'sa' and 'user1'

Is there a way for me to retrieve the complete list of users even for 'user1' without making any changes to his profile (or making very MINIMAL changes to profile)?

I don't want to give sysadmin profile to this user.
I know 'GRANT VIEW ANY DEFINITION TO public' works, but don't want to do that either.

Report Visibility

Oct 23, 2007

I want to control the visibility of the report bases on if certain columns have the data or not. Since our DB can accept EMPTY strings. I need to check for both NULLs and EMPTY STRINGS.

I have writen the following VB function

Public Function IsEmpty(ByVal value As Object) As Boolean
If IsNothing(value) Then
Return true
Else If(value.ToString().Length = 0)
Return true
End If
Return false
End Function

In the "visibility" expression window I have the following

=(Code.IsEmpty(Fields!COLUMN1.Value)) and (Code.IsEmpty(Fields!COLUMN2)) and (Code.IsEmpty(Fields!COLUMN3))

But it doesn't seems to be working? Any help?

VIEWs Visibility Scope

Jul 20, 2005

We're working on a new release of a software. In the existing version, each client connects and executes a long batch ofanalysis on some tables. In the new release, we need to allow each client to execute analysis on asubset of data, according to certain login information. Our idea is:1) Connection to db2) Creation of one View according to restrictions3) Execution of analysis using just created view and some tables. The problem is that executingcreate view myvista asselect * from tb_data where testo='A1'from two different clients, creates just one view.Question: Does it exist a way of creating a VIEW with a connection scope, something like 'select into ##temptable'?We tried Create View #MyVista or ##Myvista, but this name is not accepted.Alternative way, is creating a ##TempTable, at the beginning of the batch, and using it as data source instead of full table, but, due to really hugeamount of data, this could really disturb server performances. Thanks for any helpAlberto

Column Visibility Expression

Nov 8, 2005

I'm trying to show a column only if a certain parameter contains a certain string of characters.  So far I've got it working if the parameter is equal to the string of characters by doing
=IIF (Parameters!Param1.Value = "String1", False, True)
but I would like it to work if the Param1.Value contains "String1" ... I tried
=IIF (Parameters!Param1.Value like "%String1%", False, True)
but it doesn't work.  Any suggestions?

TIA
