I've been trying this solution http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2200113&SiteID=1 but for whatever reason it's not working. This is a SQL 2005 server SP2 I am trying to connect to.
I tried servernameMSSQL.1 I tried just servername. Restarted SSIS both times.
What's odd is that I have an admin db that I was able to connect to in VSS.
I created several packages (MyProjectPart1 - MyProjectPart9) which I execute on the server directly(right-click package in integration services and execute). These packages alI deployed the server with logging and configuration files. Before deploying I edited the configuration file (changed all dependent file names and sql server name from default on my workstation to those unique to the server I'm deploying it to) and then ran the manifest file which pushed it onto the server. I then ran the packages from the server an it ran beautifully. I then tried to build a package which executes all the packages in the correct order (by adding 9 execute package tasks). The dependen files are on the E: emp folder on the server.
I have included the error messg...but it looks like it's looking for dependent drives on the C drive on my workstation. I don't get this? How do I supply configuration files? Why is it executing differently when I call it from package execute task and when I execute it on SQL Server

Greetings, I have a report that was previously deployed to a reporting services host (running Reporting Services 2005 SP2) and I'm running the version of Visual Studio that came with reporting services on the same reporting serviceshost. The deployed report was never opened on this particular server, so it doesn't appear in the recent files list. Is there a trick to open a deployed report in all of Visual Studio's report editing glory? Visual Studio has a File Open option to open an analysis services database, a project, or a file. A "deployed report" seems to be none of these options since it's an RDL file stored somewhere that IIS can find it. I know that I can use Report Manager and export the RDL for the report and then edit that RDL file in Visual Studio, but doing that appears to disable all of Visual Studio's report editing features (ie it works no better than notepad). What's the trick to get Visual Studio to open the deployed report and allow all of it's editing tools to work properly and then save the updated report back to the reporting services server?
hello Friends, I am trying to import a database model that I created in Microsoft visio into Embarcadero erstudio 7.1.1? Any idea how that could be done? There seems to be no option to import vsd files?
I have recently applied SQL Server 2005 SP1 to a dev machine, and my workstation, where it rpesumably updated Visual Studio. Since then I cannot open an SSIS package that contains some encrypted data, due to storing a database password. I get various error messages, and Visual Studio reports that it cannot load the package - I never get prompted for the password. My colleague who has not applied SP1 yet has no problem. Has anyone else encountered this problem, and if so do they have a solution ?

I've been trying to find an answer to this to no avail. I'm not even sure if its possible. I like to do development at home in addition to work, like most of you do. Since it is my home computer, I like to play games, so I try to keep applications to a minimum. I would like to install sqlexpress on a virtual machine (which I have successfully done), and I can connect to it via Management Studio on my local machine (non-vm). Is there a way to set visual studio to use this connection as opposed to local host? I really do not want to load sqlexpress on my local machine and have yet another thing tying up system resources.
Hi,I am a newbie at all this, but here's what I want to do: We have avery large database sitting on a SQL server that is on a remotecomputer. I can access it through remote desktop and browse theEnterprise Manager and the DB.What I am trying to do is create a Visual Studio .Net program thataccesses the DB. Can I use a data adapter to connect to the DB? theSQL server is on the local C drive of the remote computer so it is notweb based.Otherwise I guess I'd have to install VS on the remote computer andcreate the program there.... but I'm guessing, I really need someadvice here.
Hi, I am trying to open or create a sqlexpress database within Visual Studio 2005 Professional in the App_Data folder. If I attempt either method, I get the following dialog box:Required Components MissingConnections to SQL Server files (*.mdf) require SQL Server Express 2005 to function properly. Please verify the installation of the component or download from the URL: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=49251 The link above just takes you to the download page for Sql Server Express 2005. I have both SQL Server 2005 Developer and SQL Server 2005 Expression instances running. The existing database will work properly in my web application, however I cannot access it through Visual Studio. As background, I did have a problem connecting to the database via the web application, receiving a "Failed to generate a User Instance of SQL Server" error. But I was able to fix that by renaming my SQLEXPRESS folder in C:Documents and SettingsuserLocal SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftMicrosoft SQL Server Data. When the web page ran, it created another SQLEXPRESS folder. However, I cannot figure out why I am having the other issue. Thanks in advancePatrick
I have a ssas tabular model as a data source in a .pbix-file. I have uploaded the .pbix-file to Power BI Services and it works fine as long as my visual studio project is open. If I close my visual studio project, the objects in Power BI Services will say "The data recievement for this visual information was not successful."
Basically I've been using Visual Studio 2005 for a few weeks now moving a Pocket PC project from 2003 to 2005. When I hit the Start Debugging Button every time until today the project would rebuild and deploy to my pocket PC allowing me to debug etc but now I get
The remote connection to the device has been lost.
Please verify the device conection and restart debugging.
I used to get this problem in VS2003 sometimes and just like the numerous posts on different sites that I've looked at the problem eventually goes away and I'm none the wiser. One guy said that he found that if he went to bed the problem was resolved when he came back!
My PDA running Windows 2003 2nd Edition is directly connected to my PC via a USB port. I've rebooted my PC and done a soft reset on the PDA but it didn't help. I'm using ActiveSync 4.1.
I have a database in my "App_Data" folder of my visual studio project. I can view it fine in Visual Studio's built-in tools for managing a database attached to a solution. However i recently started playing around with the SQL Server Management Studio Express program. When i attach my database to Management Studio, and try to run my program it crashes. I think it might be a permissions error?!? When i detatch it and reattach it in visual studio it runs fine again. Any suggestions? ThanksJason
I recently installed the Evaluation Edition of SQL Server 2005 x64 and it appears that MS Visual Studio 2005 is installed in stead of SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio. When I choose new project the only template available is "Blank Solution". How do I get all the templates (i.e. Analysis Server Project, Integration Services Project, Report Model Project, Report Server Wizard project, etc.)?
Or would it be better to uninstall MS Visual Studio 2005 and attempt to reinstall BIDS?
I am new to visual studio and I am still not sure of all its components and features.
I installed visual studio 2005 standard edition but cannot find SQL Server Management Studio?
I guess this must be because it is not included with Visual studio 2005 standard. Is it included with VS 2005 professional?
I want to add pictures of products to my shopping site using an SQL database and I’ve been told that SQL Server Management studio is required as it is a graphical tool.
How would I go about obtaining the SQL server management studio. There seems to be different versions of SQL server that it is confusing to know which one to purchase.
Will the SQL server 2005 version that comes with Visual studio standard be sufficient for me now right? I want to create a shopping site with hundreds, perhaps even thousands of products. I want to use an SQL server 2005 database. The database will include ‘dynamically generated’ product images if that is the correct terminology.
My goodness, it seems I still have so much to learn.
I have created a database under management studio and i want it to be connected in visual studio but it failed the error msgs said that the database can't be connected coz the database with same name exits but that is not true
We are running SQL Server 2000, SP4. I recently noticed that my DTS packages were missing from the local server. Since I had saved them as Structure Storage Files, I imported them back into DTS Local Packages. That was yesterday. Today I opened the Meta Data browser to see what was in it. (We don't use Meta Data Services.) It displayed a message:"An error occurred while trying to access the database information. The msdb database could not be opened." These (restore of DTS pkgs and Meta Data error) may not be related, but I need to know why I am getting this error, because I am about to upgrade to SQL Server 2005 for Workgroups.
1. Does anyone know what causes this error message?
2. Are local DTS packages stored in the MSDB database?
When I open integration services on my SQL server, I can expand the File System folder fine, but when I try to expand the MSDB folder under stored package, I'm getting the following error: My SQL Server is setup to allow remote connections. What else could be causing this error on the server?

How do i get the database that i am using in visual studio into my SQL server management studio? i need to create some scripts to create stored procedures on a live server.
I have SSRS in Visual Studio. I created a query that works fine in SQL Server Management Studio, but when pasted into Visual Studio I get the error "An expression of non-boolean type specified in a context where a condition is expected, near '('.
Here is the query. Can anyone help on why this isn't working? Thanks.

I'm very confused. I installed Visual Studio 2005 and thought I understood that SQL Server 2005 came with it, but it appears that it's SQL Server 2005 - Express. Can anyone tell me what I need to do in order to get Data Transformation Services loaded or the equivalent of DTS in SQL Express?
When I try to create a database that will have fields for a date and a time the only data type option in visual studio is datetime. This stores data as dd/mm/yyyy-00.00.
how can I set it to store either a date dd/mm/yyy or a time 00.00 but not both.

Hi there, I am a newcomer to SQLExpress. I have installed Visual Studio 2005 and have been playing with it. Now I need to make a DB project with SQL server but I can not find a way to run the scripts (provided) to create the database I need.
Does anybody can help with this elementary question?
I am trying to install SQL CE v.2.0 to use it with visual studio 2005. The problem is that when I try to add refference System.Data.SQLClientCE I cannot find it hence I belive that it does not install properly. I am new to this so please try to be as more informative as you can.
I currently have Visual Studio .NET 2003 installed on my computer and I am trying to develop an application that would require the use of SQL data base on a network using C++. Would I just need to install the SQL Express and Express Manager to get Visual Studio working with the database? Or do I need to also install Visual Studio C++ 2005 express to get the data base features working correctly.
