Want To Use Parameters To Filter For Dates Between Two (parameter, User-input) Dates

Mar 2, 2006

SQL 2005 Dev

How can I do this with Parameters? I can get a single parameter to filter for a single date (or even a combo list of the dates in DB). But I want my parameters to interact so that they specify a range. Is this possible?

Pull Between 2 Dates From User Input

Feb 14, 2007

 I want to pull dates from my database that are between to set dates i have written a query that does this which looks like this:
"SELECT OCH_ID, empno, Selected_OCD, Start_Time, End_Time, Selected_OCDay, Selected_DOM, Selected_Month, Selected_Year FROM dbo.ICT_On_Call_Hours                           WHERE (CONVERT (datetime, LEFT (Selected_OCD, 2) + '/' + SUBSTRING(Selected_OCD, 4, 2) + '/' + RIGHT (Selected_OCD, 4)) >= CONVERT (datetime, LEFT ('12/02/2007', 2) + '/' + SUBSTRING('12/02/2007', 4, 2) + '/' + RIGHT ('12/02/2007', 4))) AND (CONVERT (datetime, LEFT (Selected_OCD, 2) + '/' + SUBSTRING(Selected_OCD, 4, 2) + '/' + RIGHT (Selected_OCD, 4)) < CONVERT (datetime, LEFT ('14/02/2007', 2) + '/' + SUBSTRING('14/02/2007', 4, 2) + '/' + RIGHT ('14/02/2007', 4)))"
This works when the dates are included in the statement but when i try and use parameters to pull them in like this:
"SELECT OCH_ID, empno, Selected_OCD, Start_Time, End_Time, Selected_OCDay, Selected_DOM, Selected_Month, Selected_Year FROM dbo.ICT_On_Call_Hours                           WHERE (CONVERT (datetime, LEFT (Selected_OCD, 2) + '/' + SUBSTRING(Selected_OCD, 4, 2) + '/' + RIGHT (Selected_OCD, 4)) >= CONVERT (datetime, LEFT ('@Choice1', 2) + '/' + SUBSTRING('@Choice1', 4, 2) + '/' + RIGHT ('@Choice1', 4))) AND (CONVERT (datetime, LEFT (Selected_OCD, 2) + '/' + SUBSTRING(Selected_OCD, 4, 2) + '/' + RIGHT (Selected_OCD, 4)) < CONVERT (datetime, LEFT ('@Choice2', 2) + '/' + SUBSTRING('@Choice2', 4, 2) + '/' + RIGHT ('@Choice2', 4)))"
I then recieve the following error message why is this?
ERROR ------------------->  Syntax error converting datetime from character string.
Any Help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Populate Dates For Parameters Based On A String Parameter

Jul 2, 2007

Hello,

My basic goal is to try to simplify inputs for the user. I have 3 parameters: Begin Date, End DAte and Duration. Duration will contain 3 choices: All, 2 Years and Range and is meant to give them a shortcut to dates as described below:

All - Would automatically populate the start date to 10/01/2005 and an end date to current date

2 Years - Would automatically populate the start date to current date minus 2 years, and the end date to current date.

Range - Would allow the user to select any dates as desired.

I'm able to get the dates to populate based on the duration field using non-queried values based on the Duration value, but the problem is that if I want to allow them to select Range the calendar control is not available and a text box is displayed.

I've tried to create some code in the properties that would populate, but I keep getting that this item is Read Only. The code I've created is as follows:

public function populateDates(Duration) as String

Select Case Duration
Case = "Range"
Report.Parameters!pBeginDate = Report.Parameters!pBeginDate
Report.Parameters!pEndDAte = Report.Parameters!pEndDAte
Case = "All"
Report.Parameters!pBeginDate = #10/01/2005#
Report.Parameters!pEndDAte = Now().Today
case = "Two"
Report.Parameters!pBeginDate = DateAdd("yyyy", -2, Now().Today)
Report.Parameters!pEndDAte = Now().Today
end select
end sub

My only goal is to give the User the 3 choices, but still keep the calendar control available, and I can't seem to do this?

suggestion please!

Thanks!

Maureen

Filter By Dates

Jan 23, 2008

I want to filter a table for data between two dates.
Start Date and End Date are the two dates.
The query,
1. should not filter based on date if the dates are not provided.
2. Should give all records on or after the start date if only the start date is given.
3.Should give all records on or before the end date if only the end date is given.
4. Should give all records on or between the start and end dates if both dates are given.

I tried something like this.

@startDate datetime =NULL ,
@endDate datetime = NULL

AS
BEGINSET NOCOUNT ON;

SELECT * FROM TABLE
WHERE ((TICKET.CREATED_DATE >=@startDate AND TICKET.CREATED_DATE<=@endDate ) OR (@startDate IS NULL)OR (@endDate IS NULL)OR(@startDate IS NULL AND @endDate IS NULL))

Not working could someone give me the correct query.
Thanks

I am facing an issue in TABLIX FILTER . I have a table having a column with dates like

01Feb2015
03Jun2014

I need to add a filter in SSRS tablix to get the dates < 01Mar2015

How can I add it in tablix filter as if i directly use my column name and filter value as 01Mar2015 it is not giving results

Secondly, I have another column with date like : 2015-02-04 00:00:00.000

I need to filter the same in another tablix for dates < 01-Mar-2015

I tried this in expression to convert it into string

=Format(Fields!Last_Date.Value, "YYYY-MM-DD")

And used 2015-03-01 in filter but it did not work

If I dont use format, ssrs gives error that tablix cannot compare datetime and string...

Select Parameters With Dates

Jan 16, 2007

I have a sqlDataSource control that has its select command and parameters set dynamically.  One of the parameters is a date, which should be in smalldatetime format (ie, 12/22/2006).  Obviously, using SQL Server, the data is stored with both date and time.  The problem is, I cannot get any data selected.   I initially thought that I needed to tell it to only look at the date and not the time, but from what I have seen this should work. Here is the pertinent code.
dim seldate as datetime
selDate = Session("ChosenDate")
Dim SelCmd As String = "SELECT [PatientName], [AssignedTo], [CPT], [CPT2], [HospitalID], [RoomNbr], [ACType], [TxDx1], [TxDx2], [MRNbr], [Notes], [PatientID], [PCPID], [ResidentID], [Status], [CaseID], [AdmitDate], [crtd_datetime] FROM [DailyBilling] WHERE ([crtd_datetime] = @crtd_datetime) and ([AssignedTo] = @AssignedTo) and ([HospitalID] = @HospitalID) ORDER BY [PatientName]"
SqlDataSource1.SelectCommand = SelCmd
SqlDataSource1.SelectParameters.Clear()

Dim parFilterProvider As New ControlParameter()
parFilterProvider.ControlID = "ddlProvider"
parFilterProvider.Name = "AssignedTo"
parFilterProvider.Type = TypeCode.String
SqlDataSource1.SelectParameters.Add(parFilterProvider)

Dim parFilterHospital As New ControlParameter()
parFilterHospital.ControlID = "ddlHospitals"
parFilterHospital.Name = "HospitalID"
parFilterHospital.Type = TypeCode.String
SqlDataSource1.SelectParameters.Add(parFilterHospital)

Dim parFilterStatus As New Parameter()
parFilterStatus.Name = "crtd_datetime"
parFilterStatus.DefaultValue = selDate.ToShortDateString
parFilterStatus.Type = TypeCode.DateTime
SqlDataSource1.SelectParameters.Add(parFilterStatus)

Gridview1.databind()
Any ideas?

Look Up Renewals Dates In An Edit Parameters Form

Dec 8, 2006

Hello Everyone and Merry Christmas

I have a question I need my users to be able to enter a between statement into an Edit Parameters form I have created for them. The reason being is so that they can find out when employees are due for a renewal (which is every two years from their final suit date..for example if their final was done on 12/01/2006 then they would be due to renew 12/31/2008).
The code below allows them to look up final suit dates of individuals. I would like them to look up Renewals based on final suits. like: BETWEEN 12/01/2006 AND 12/31/2006. and get the results, does that make sense???

SELECT TM#, LASTNAME, FIRSTNAME, CONDITIONAL, DATEOFCONDITIONAL, FINALSUITDONE
FROM dbo.EmployeeGamingLicense
WHERE (FINALSUITDONE = @Enter_FINALSUITDONE)

Problem With Dates Format Passed As Parameters...

Jan 8, 2007

Hi,

I am having the "classical problem" of the forums; A local date changed to the american format (normally in the development environment) which I call "Switching months with days"... well it switches both again if you press "view report" again :)The problem I'm having is that when I Navigate from one report to other, the dates get switched... Everything's been set in the locale uk date format (dd/mm/aaaa), in the operating system, in the database and in the reports... and the reports are working properly through the web interface.. the only thing that is not working properly is the Navigation which switches the date month with the day...Changing all the Reporting Services server, database server to the american format date is not an acceptable solution. Thanks for any guidance on this, as I'm pretty lost...Jose

Reporting Services :: Selecting All Dates With A Date Parameter

Jul 15, 2015

On my SSRS report, I use a date parameter to let the user select a date with the little calendar tool. When a date is selected, I have a small bit of coding run to convert the date to text, because when the report first fires up, the field is populated with "1/1/1900," and I need that turned into a blank character to let the report pull up all rows. So far, all well and good.If someone picks a date, then the report will filter the data on that selected date. Works fine.

But, it appears there is no way to get the calendar tool to go back to allowing ALL dates - so that all records are pulled - except by manually typing in, or selecting it with the tool, 1/1/1900.If I try to clear the field, causing it to use '' as a WHERE criteria (WHERE AdmitDate LIKE '%' + @AdmitDateTxt + '%'), it repopulates the field with the last selected date. So, I guess the question is, how does one tell the calendar tool for picking dates for a date parameter to reset back such that all records are pulled, not just those for a single date, without being required to type in, 1/1/1900? Or, is there some way of telling the date parameter to select all dates?

ReportServer URL Access : French Language Problem For Parameters (dates) After Installing SQL 2005 SP2

Mar 3, 2007

Hello,

We are using ReportServer URL Access. The parameters aren't pass into the URL, they have a default value and it's possible to change them by the "parameter toolbar". We are using datetime parameters with the very usefull calendar...

We are using a French version of : Windows (XP or W2K3), SQL2005+SP1 and VS2005 + SP1. It works fine, the calendar (for datetime parameter) is in French.

After installing the French SP2, the calendar is in English (w2k3 + VS2005 SP1). On a new installation (XP), with SQLExpress SP2 Advanced + Toolkit (in French), we have the same problem.

With this URL (solution 1), the calendar is in English (it was in French before the SP2):

http://localhost/Reportserver$SQLExpress?%2fProjet+de+rapport1%2fReport1&rs:Command=Render

But with this URL (solution 2), the calendar is in French :

http://localhost/ReportServer$SQLExpress/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?%2fProjet+de+rapport1%2fReport1&rs%3aCommand=Render

In the documentation, we have to use solution 1 (but we have a problem). Is the solution 2 a possible "alternative" ?

Thanks for your help,

Frederic

SQL 2012 :: SSIS Set Stored Procedure Parameter Dates Via Agent?

Aug 15, 2014

To set the scene I am using SQL 2012, in project deployment mode (SSIS Catalog rather than file system).I have setup an SSIS package to run a stored procedure which exports data for the last hour to a .tsv file and then FTP's the file to some other location via a sql agent job - This all works fine.However, I can see there may be a requirement to run the package with dates that need to be set i.e. in the event of a lost file of some other reason the package has not run and missed some of its hourly slots and the customer requires the files to be resent.

The stored procedure I am using has parameters for "DateOverride" - boolean), "start" and "end" dates (datetime) with defaults set "0" for "DateOverride" and null for the "Start" and "End" dates, I have built logic into the procedure which sets the dates if the parameters are null (as in the above to an hour before now). What I would like to be able to do (and this is to make it user friendly for support staff) is to be able to set parameters/variables in SQL agent with "DateOverride" set to "1" and the the dates I would like to be sent to the stored procedure "Start" and "End" parameters.

I did try using the parameters in SSIS which worked well when the values were true or false (0,1) but didn't work at all for the dates. If I left the dates as I had set them is SSIS it worked, but if I changed them (even if it was just changing the hour) the job errored/crashed and corrupted the job step leaving me the ability to only delete it.

Reporting Services :: Select Between From And To Dates In Multiple Parameter Report

I am extracting the From and To dates from this field using Select format(TimeLastMod,'MMM') as FromMonth,format(TimeLastMod,'MMM') as ToMonth From Eventlogs syntax.

These I pass on to a parameter and eventually to a tablix filter in an between opeartion. When I run the report, the records returned by the report is not what is expected as it sometimes returns an extra months data e.g., using between Aug and Sept will return october data as well.

Getting Individual Dates Between 2 Dates

Has anyone ever written a function to retrieve all individual dates between two given dates? Using DATEDIFF I can get the number of days between two dates. However I need to iterate through the days to identify weekend and holiday dates. Has anyone ever written a function to do this?

So, if select datediff(d,'07/01/2007','07/15/2007') as NumOfDays returns 14, I'd need to iterate through the 14 days and get the weekends and holidays. Would I have to use a cursor to iterate through the days?

Is there any easy way to create a stored procedure that inserts into a table the relevant months dates into a table based on the month and year as parameters.
I.e say the parameters passed are 01/2001 hence based on this all of the month of January 2001 dates are inserted into a table in this format : 'Jan 01 2001 12:00:00'

Thanks

SQL Dates

Apr 19, 2004

OK, so I can return (& therefore use) the last day of last month using

select (GETDATE()- DATEPART ( dd , GETDATE()))

Which returns 31-03-2004 (dd-mm-yyyy)

Has anyone a good way of determining a way of deriving say a date such as 01-01-2004 (1st Jan)....

I'd like to get some data where my dmd.sdate falls always in the previous quarter.. but would like it to be not hard coded...

Currently I have

SELECT cust.no,
cust.surname,
dmd.csan,
dmd.sdate
FROM pdunity.dbo.cust cust,
pdunity.dbo.dmd dmd
WHERE cust.rowno = dmd.rowno_custdmd_cust
AND(dmd.sdate
BETWEEN '01/01/2004'
AND(GETDATE()- DATEPART ( dd , GETDATE())))
ORDER by dmd.sdate asc

Is there some form of function I can use to return 01/01/2004 automatically ?

Dates For The UK

Feb 11, 1999

We are deploying a system in the UK in SQL Server 6.5. They want the date to default to dd/mm/yy. Is there a way to set this on a permanent basis? Is there a way to set the server so any time a date is display, including getdate(), the result is dd/mm/yy?
