I am actually following exactly the example given in Karl Moore€™s €˜The Ultimate VB.net and ASP.net Code Book€™, ISBN 1-59059-106-2, Chapter 4, pp 141€¦
I am using VB.Net 2002 and create a Web Form, placing on it a Data Adapter, Connector and Dataset and link this to a Data Grid. The database is a quite large (150 Mb) Access 97 db that is shared over a network and the Provider is a Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 connection. While in designer mode I can create the Dataset and even preview the data itself from the menu. When I run the project, the Web Form displays, connects to the Site (via IIS 5.1) but then the following error text is thrown all over the form:

I have read and implemented the articles in the KB about setting up System TEMP variables and changing their rights and also setting up the ODBC key in the registry but these make no difference however I change them. I have also tried copying the database to the local machine, again to no avail.
The versions of the system I am using are:

Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2002 Service Pack 1 (KB837234)
Microsoft Developer Environment 2002 7.0.9955
I have no idea why what should be a very simple thing just fails so catastrophically. I am tempted to move to VB 2005 but if anyone can shed light on the problem I should be most grateful.

HiI have written an application in VB through which I can convert DBASEIV database to MS SQL Server database. Also, the application providesdatabase manipulation features to the user like addition, deletion etcof records.I am using OPENROWSET for conversion purposes. Also the server is MSSQL Server 2000.Now this application workks fine when I have installed the instance ofMS SQL Server on my local machine. It converts the database and storesit on the server perfectly and there are no isues.However, when I try to use the application to connect with MS SQLServer on another machine, there are a few problems. I connect to theother MS SQL Server on other machine through named pipes. I tried a lot of searches online but could not find any solutions. I am running Vista Ultimate, SQL Server 2005 and IIS 7. I am sure I configure everything right under "Default Web Site". The same config is running perfectly under XP. Can anyone help please?
I created a package that refreshes tables on one SQL Server to another SQL Server. First, I use an ExecuteSQL task to truncate the tables. Then I use a Data Flow task to copy the tables from one server to the other. Finally I update a log table. It was working fine with four tables. I added another table to the refresh and now I get these error messages:

RbcAcctSegment is the new table that I added. The errors occur in the Data Flow task. We have tried running this on a different workstation with the same results.

After consulting with the Exchange Administrator, I was advise that there is a limit on file attachments. This explains why I get this message with large (>20MB) attachments.
With this additional information I need to compress my file using a compression tool like winzip or pkzip. My company uses the windows version of pkzip. However, I have downloaded an evaluation version of the PKzip command line version.

hi I've got a job which copy tables between different servers . I export data from a dozen tables of one database to another database on another server regularly and it works well. However, if i choose the option of "save SSIS package", I get the following error:

I'm receiving an Error Code: 0x80004005 ... a "non-specific error" when trying to use a fairly simple insert in the oleDB command transform. SQL command works fine if I specify the parameters in the values clause of the INSERT statement. If however, I try to use the parameters in setting a variable, I get the 0x80004005 error. Is this a known issue/limitation, or am I just reallly doing something wrong?

We have a Windows 2003 Web Edition server serving a site through IIS. It connects to a Windows 2003 Standard Edition server running SQL 2000 SP3a.

We've configured the server network utility to only allow TCP/IP connections. The connection string for the site is as follows:
Any ideas or tips on solving this issue? We've noticed it is due to larger queries as smaller ones do work with no problems.
The servers are behind a BSD box running iptables, has 1433,1434 along with standard web ports wide open. Anything outbound is allowed.
Some further testing via ODBC on the IIS server improved things. No more connection pooling for the SQL Server driver allows for 1/3 of the query to run. Still 2/3s of it doesn't show up, and that general network error message appears.

I am running the DTS from a computer (not the server where the DTS is stored) and it is connected without any problem when this happens.

When a user finally confirms his order in a shopping cart application (using MS-Access as the backend), the items he has purchased are populated in a Access DB table named Orders & his personal details (like name, mail, billing address, shipping address etc.) are populated in another table named CustDetails. Both the DB tables have a column named OrderID. This column is the Primary Key in the CustDetails table & the Foreign Key in the Orders table. The Session.SessionID becomes the unique OrderID.After confirming an order, if the user refreshes the page, the app will try to populate the same Session.SessionID in the CustDetails table but since the column OrderID is a Primary Key column in the table CustDetails, it won't accept duplicate OrderIDs. Under such circumstances, an OleDbException will be raised.Since a DB app can throw other OleDbExceptions other than the one about which I mentioned above, I want to display custom error messages to the user. For e.g. if he refreshes the page after confirming his order, I want to display a message saying "Your order has already been placed".To do this, I tried using the ErrorCode property of the OleDbException class but what I found is the ErrorCode changes from time to time! Basically I am inserting a row into a table. The sql line looks like :
When I copy and paste the command into Access, it successfully adds the row into the table. However, I am getting that error when I run it in my program. I create the string, then this is the code I am using :

At the last line, I get the overflow.
Just for clarification, the values are (Cust ID as long, firstName as text, lastName as text, Street as text, City as text, State as text, Zip as long, email as text, phone as double).
Any insights into the problem? The error message isnt all that insightful.

I try to use sqlDataSource to gather the input for GrideView. The SELECT statement can run on SQL SEVER 2005, but can't get response when it is running on Visual Web Developer 2005 Express.
