I am trying to configure a web service task. I have created the HTTP Connection, and specified the WSDL. When I select the service name on the Input page, I get the error ...
Item has already been added. Key in dictionary: 'BaseTO' Key being added: 'BaseTO'
I have previously been able to successfully configure the task in a separate project.
The Webservice methods take and return complex parameters. e.g. BaseTO above is custom transfer object type which the other transfer objects inherit. It is a List<> of some type of this object which is being passed/returned from the service.
I suspect these complex types will not be supported anyway but am puzzled by the original problem.
Any help much appreciated.
Greg.

When trying to set up a Web Service Task in SSIS I get this error message when I click on the "Test Connection" button:
Invalid URI: The format of the URI could not be determined.
The web service is http://www.webservicex.net/CurrencyConvertor.asmx. When I enter the same URL into Internet Explorer it connects to the web service with no errors. We do have a proxy server. What is causing my problem?

Hello,
I'm pretty stuck on a security issue in SSIS. The web service works by itself, but I can't call it from SSIS, it gives me a 401 unauthorized error. The web service also uses impersonation of my domain admin account.
I have tried the following things:
Setting integrated windows authentication in IIS
Setting the NTFS permissions of those web site directories to EVERYONE
Using a credential / proxy in SSIS and running it from SQL Agent
Changing the log on services of MSSQLSERVER, SQLAGENT, and SQL Integration Services to my domain admin account
I can't get anything to work. What is wrong with this thing? Microsoft's security model has gotten completley out of of hand imo
Also in the security event log it shows all authentication as successful.

With the new improvments to the web service task, we can now use variables as arguments in web service calls. I am trying to setup a call to the amazon web service ECS. I am trying to do a simple sellerlookup. I have played with the settings and gotten nowhere. I get one of two error when I try to execute. I can always use a scripting task or write my own task, but I would like to use the built in task if it is possible. Has anyone used AWS with SSIS?

Hi,
Is there any way to enforce task execution order within a control flow? I need to have tasks execute after each other, because for example Task B depends on the execution of Task A.
Doesn't the success constraint enforce execution order? When I run my package the tasks seem to execute in a random order which is not what I want.
What I am trying to do is:
Loop through all Xml files in directory
For each Xml file:
For categories, products & fields:
Truncate staging table
Insert data from Xml file into staging table
After all Xml files have been processed then import data from staging to main tables
Here is my control flow:

I have a situation where I'd like to conditionally execute the first task in a package based on the contents of a user variable.
If user variable "Var1" is false I want to begin execution with the first task.
If "Var1" is true I want to begin execution at the second task.
My first thought of course was SequenceContainer, but the same issue would exist for the first task in a SequenceContainer.
Is there a way to do this?
Thanks!

hello to every body.. well i have a problem.. well i created a package the task of which is to update thedimensions and the fact tables from the tables of source.
i created a configuration file with all the parameters that are nedded (connections managers; parameters of packages).this config file will include all the paremeters need for the execution of other packages
In that package i call an other package (execution package task). this package normally will take the parameters of the parent package isn't it??(i put the parameters of this package to the config file of the parent package).
i must also note that for the second package called there is also a package...
i must also note that i have 2 DWHs (a and b) for testing.
the problem is that when i execute the parent package to DWH b , the sacond package called do not take the parameters of the parent package. instaed it looks to its XML configuration file(in a different location of the config file of the parent package) which contains the connection parameters to DWH a and it calls strored procedures from the DWH a (instead of calling at SP from DHW b).
any ideas??
thnx a LOT0

I have one Data flow, which trasfer data into two table (Parent & Child) .
My question is : Is there a way, i can load data first into parent and then child table. because child table getting load first after that parent table loading. (Execution should be Source Parent --> Destination Parent) First , (Source Child --> Destination Child) Second.
In my case its executing reverse. So i have foreign key constraints at child table , its giving foreign contraints error while running ssis package
Can any one tell me,
How to define my own sequence execution at the Data flow task (Source - Destination) ?
Thanks

Hi,
I am developing an SSIS package and need the execution of the package to continue even if one of the tasks within the package fails. I have an OnError event handler for this task which fires when it fails but want the rest of the package to continue.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Greetings.
I'm trying to conditionally execute a dataflow based on the presence of a data file. If the data file isn't present, I'd like to execute gracefully without error.
Logic is as follows:
If FileExists Then
execute dataflow
Else
exit w/o error
End If
I've got the code ready to go, but I'm not sure how to do this conditional branch logic. Right now, the code calls the Dts.Results.Success / Failure. The problem, however, is Failure is exactly that... which doesn't result in the graceful exit I'm looking for.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

I have a package that loads staging tables from an Oracle source DB. In the data flow tab I have 30+ read table/write table task combinations. When I run the package 3-4 of the read/write combos execute at a time. What I'm trying to control is the priority order of the combo execution. My goal is to minimize to total load time by having the larger table transfers run first and the smaller table transfers fill in until they are all complete. Currently, the largest table (16 million) transfers last (because it was the last combo that I created?).
Thanks,
Dave

Hi, folks!
I got a serious problem with an SSIS-Import. My packages import from a foreign source into a kind of temp-table (actually it's not a temporary table, itīs just filled with data and truncated after completion of the package), do some transformations and then I got a data flow task that simply copies all the rows from the "temp" to the final table. Well, it looks like those two processes simply deadlock each other. But there are 11 Simultanious Data Imports which all go fine. The Issue only occurs at those two. The structure of the packages is exactly the same everywhere.
Is it possible that a previous update-sql query hasenīt committed properly and locks the datasets?

Hi,
I'm building a custom task and just wondering what is the correct way of passing errors back to SSIS. Is there a rcommended approach to doing this. Currently I just wrap everything in a TRY...CATCH and use componentEvents to fire it back! Here's my code:
public override DTSExecResult Execute(Connections connections, VariableDispenser variableDispenser,IDTSComponentEvents componentEvents, IDTSLogging log, object transaction)
{
bool failed = false;
try
{
/*
* do stuff in here
*/
}
catch (Exception e)
{
componentEvents.FireError(-1, "", e.Message, "", 0);
failed = true;
}
if (failed)
{
return DTSExecResult.Failure;
}
else
{
return DTSExecResult.Success;
}
}
Any comments?

I have an almost virgin install of SQLExpres running on a WIN2K Pro system.
Have been able to create and connect db to Access 2000 without problem.
Now I wish to extend to remote connections. Using Surface Area Configuration tool, I changed Remote Connections to Local and Remote.
Whenever this setting contains TCP/IP and I try to restart the service I receive the following errors:
System Log:
The SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) service terminated with service-specific error 10013.
Application Log:
Server TCP provider failed to listen on [ 'any' <ipv4> 0]. Tcp port is already in use.
TDSSNIClient initialization failed with error 0x271d, status code 0xa.
TDSSNIClient initialization failed with error 0x271d, status code 0x1.
Could not start the network library because of an internal error in the network library. To determine the cause, review the errors immediately preceding this one in the error log.
SQL Server could not spawn FRunCM thread. Check the SQL Server error log and the Windows event logs for information about possible related problems.
If I change back to Local Connections Only or Local and Remote using named pipes only, the service starts up again without a problem.
After five days of investigating, researching, reinstalling and waiting I have to ask for help.
Any suggestions or leads?
Thank You in advance.

Hi All,
We seem to be being plagued by the error below by our SQL Server agent. This happens almost everytime we restart the server that has been running for a day or two.
Our SQL Server Agent uses a none expiring domain credential. I understand that this problem only happens when the profile being used by the SQL Servr Agent has changed (password change). What puzzles me is that the login is A ok and no changes has been made to it's password.
We always resolve this problem by changing the login used in the SQL Server Agent to local and after that, returning it back to it's original domain login. Unfortunately, we cant always do this everytime something goes wrong.
Can anyone please help us shed a light on this? We're using SQL2k with SP3a. Thanks!
Error:
An error 1069 - )The service did not start due to logon failure) occurred while performing this service operation on the SQLServerAgent service.

Hi!
I have a HttpConnection with an url to an existing webservices f.ex. http://myweb/ws/ssis.asmx?wsdl
My Web Service Task is using this HttpConnection and I have specified a path for the WSDL-file, f.ex: c:SSISMyProj.wsdl
This leads to that I have to deploy the WSDL-file to exactly the same location on the Sql-server that hosts/executes the Package.
Is there a way to point out a URL or anything else? I don't want to have this dependency.

Hi,
I am an ETL Developer.Very new to web service task.I created a package where I am using For loop Container.Within the container I used Execute SQL Task (retrieve a single row using store proc).Output of the Execute SQL Task is passed to webservice task.The output of Web service task is a XML data which is used in the data flow task and transfer the xml output to flat file destination.The package works fine for a batch of hundred rows. But for a batch of 10,000 rows at a stretch the performance is very poor. The webservice can take only one input at a time. Is there any other method other than web service task to solve this problem?
Thank You

Hello,
I tried to use an Web Service from SSIS (Web Service Task), this Web Service returns arrays of int and
an array of a data contract. It always returns the following error msg while selection the method after downloading
the WSDL-file:
Item has already been added. Key in dictionary: 'Arrayofint' Key being added:
'Arrayofint'.
When I remove the arrays and just use an data contract as return parameter. SSIS-project also returns the
same error message, but not with Arrayofint, instead it has the name of data contract. If I implement the
same webservice with ASP.Net everything works fine.
Is there a solution to this problem besides of using ASP.Net or a stored procedure in SQL Server, which
implements the web service access? Or has anyone has integrated a WCF web service with data contract?
Comment 06/12/16 (UH): Stored Procedures doesn't work either, since the assemblies from WCF can't be
added to SQL Server.
Thanks,
Uwe

I receive the following error message when I try to use the Bulk Insert Task to load BCP data into a table:
Error: 0xC002F304 at Bulk Insert Task, Bulk Insert Task: An error occurred with the following error message: "Cannot fetch a row from OLE DB provider "BULK" for linked server "(null)".The OLE DB provider "BULK" for linked server "(null)" reported an error. Verify that the field terminator and row terminator are specified correctly.Bulk load data conversion error (overflow) for row 1, column 1 (rowno).".
Task failed: Bulk Insert Task
In SSMS I am able to issue the following command and the data loads into a TableName table with no error messages:
BULK INSERT TableName
FROM 'C:DataDbTableName.bcp'
WITH (DATAFILETYPE='widenative');
What configuration is required for the Bulk Insert Task in SSIS to make the data load? BTW - the TableName.bcp file is bulk copy file as bcp widenative data type. The properties of the Bulk Insert Task are the following:
DataFileType: DTSBulkInsert_DataFileType_WideNative
RowTerminator: {CR}{LF}
Any help getting the bcp file to load would be appreciated. Let me know if you require any other information, thanks for all your help.

Executing the simplest of Web Service tasks consistently fail with the error: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object".
This really isn't a very helpful message for this task, and there's nothing from the task editor that can be adjusted. I am using SP1, the HTTP connection to the service tests OK, the WSDL file downloads OK, and the methods and parameters appear OK.
Suggestions?

A package contains a web service task which makes a call to a web service. This call may take some time to complete (maybe up to 5-10 minutes). In it's simplest form, my package is reporting a failure. Error message is

I can find no way to set the timeout period of a SSIS web service task. Is this possible, or is it something which Microsoft is addressing?

I have succesfuly done this, but the task is using a url from the wsdl file that is stored locally to access the service regardless of what the url is in the http connection manager is. Is there any way to force the web service task to download the wsdl file every time it's executed or is there an easier way for accomplishing this?

I am creating a simple ssis package in business inteligence studio 2005. In that i am going to use an webservice task. I have assigned the wsdl and the configured the HTTP connection too. I have selected the service name and the method to be called. I have to give 2 input values for the web method. I need to make it dynamic. so i have planned to assign the variables for those input parameters. But In the webservice editor window there is only the provision to assign the vales for the input parameters. how can i assign valriables instead of setting the values directly.
I have also find in blogs that there will be a variable checkbox available. But i cant find the one..
Any one plz let me know the solution for this

I have been struggling with a problem with the Web Service Task. I have a package that uses this and has to authenticate to the web service. This works fine on my development server but if I export the package to file and run from another computer / user, the package fails as it doesn't log in to the web service. I have found the problem to be the package was set to default of EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey and I understand why this is. If I change to use EncryptSensitiveWithPassword, it prompts for creds and works fine. My question is how do I use a package configuration file to use different creds (there is not password option for the http connection) so I can standardize on use of config files for this operation. Thanks.

Hi,
I am trying to create a simple BI Application for SSIS. In Visual Studio 2005 I just get a Data Flow Task from the toolbar and add it to the project. When I double click it I get the following error:
The task with the name "Data Flow Task" and the creation name "DTS.Pipeline.1" is not registered for use on this computer.
Then when I try to delete it it gives this other error:
Cannot remove the specified item because it was not found in the specified Collection.
I am creating this application in an administrator account in this computer, so I doubt the problem is related to permissions. I am running SQL Server 2005 and Visual Studio 2005 in WinXP Tablet PC Edition.
Any suggestions why this is happening and how to fix it?

My problem is that I cannot create a xsd schema for the xml file output from the "web service task", and because of this I cannot insert the data in the xml file into the Database, because the xsd schema is reqired by the XML Source which I use in my DataFlow task for inserting the data.
Do you have any ideas how to solve this strange problem?

I'm attempting to use the Web Service task to call a method provided by a vendor. The inputs are all simple types so that helps a lot, but for one input it's a string array. If I enter a single string value for a given id using the array dialog, the method works fine.
However if I try to change the input to use a variable to provide the value it fails. I'm assuming that you can't create a variable to return a string array. Please let me know if this is the case or if I'm missing something obvious ;-)
In addition, is there a way to specify a null value for an input? Currently there doesn't appear to be a way to do this in SP2. I tried leaving the string empty which didn't work and I tried using a variable with expression "NULL(DT_WSTR, 1252)" but that failed too.
