What Are Issues Involved With Deploying A Reporting Services Report Outside Of Our Network?

I would like to know if it is resonable and acceptable to make reports created through SQL Server Reporting services available through our Public facing applications.
Also, what are the potential problems? Security? Impact on the SQL Server? Limit to specific types of reports?
If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated, I am a big fan of SQL Reporting but we are unsure if we are going to be able to use the reports on the Public side and we don't want two separate sets of reports (internal and Public).
1. have report called report_a.rdl with subscriptions attached to it 2. developed a new report called report_b.rdl with the same parameter list as report_a.rdl 3. i would like to replace report_a.rdl with report_b.rdl without losing the subscriptions.
I think this is the workflow:
1. rename report_a.rdl to report_a_old.rdl in BIDS 2. rename report_b.rdl to report_a.rdl in BIDs 3. deploy report_a.rdl to reporting server
Will that work even though the ReportID GUID will change?

I am trying to place text boxes in the header of a matrix in order to give each row group(i.e. each drill-down area in my matrix a header). This can be done in Reporting Services 2005.
However when I deploy this report to the corresponding url(Report Manager) it seems to be losing its formatting and not displaying correctly. The textboxes placed in the matrix header seem to go all over the place.
I do get a warning when I deploy the report ->
[rsOverlappingReportItems]. Some renderers do not support overlapping report items.
I have created a ssrs report using ssrs-2012 that contains 2 tables 2 pie charts and 1 line chart. But I am unable to see 2 pie charts and and 1 line chart after deploying the rdl in sharepoint server.
Why I am not able to see those charts, or sharepoint server will not support charts at all.
I am trying to deploy a shape file map of the world with 100 random data points from my dataset but get this error: "exception running the extensions specified in the config file. ---> Maximum request length exceeded". I can preview this fine in SSDT. I have read various solutions which involve editing the config file but I don't have permissions to get to these files. Is there any way to amend the maximum length either through SSMS or SSDT? If not how can I make my map size small enough to deploy? It is a very simple shape file with no colours etc and I am passing random 100 data points to it from my dataset.
Hello, We are running SQL2005, SP2. We are having problems with the time it takes to export reports to Excel. I am attempting to research the subject and find ways of solving the problem either by modifying the reports or make changes in the way we deliver them.
Either way my attempts at researching this at Microsoft.com and here at the forums have proven to be failures. There are many threads on the subject but with the time it takes to scroll through them all I have yet to find any that seem to relate to the specific issues we are having.
We have a report which is approximately 38 pages, sometimes less, sometimes more, in length. When attempting to export to Excel the process seems to take forever or time out. We can still close out the export attempt and return to the report, but the process of exporting to Excell seems to take forever.
Could anyone here provide me with links to pages either here at Microsoft.com, in the forums, or elsewhere where the factors involved in the exporting to Excell feature are addressed so that I can try to accomodate them as best as possible?

I installed SQL reporting services 2005 and successfully configured reporting services.After designing the report using Bussiness Intelligence Studio, i tried to deploy my reporting services application to the localhost , I got the below mentioned error :

I've installed reporting services and reporting services sp2 on my local computer and I have admin rights on this computer.
But when I am trying to deploy reports in the report server, It is asking for login and password. If I give my machine login and password, it is not taking.
Even if type http://localhost/reportserver or http://localhost/reports it is giving an error saying
"CS0016: Could not write to output file 'c:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727Temporary ASP.NET Files eportserver1bbf2d182968d42eApp_global.asax.2trocnva.dll' -- 'Access is denied. "

Hi, I'm having an issue with reporting services installed on a Win2000 machine. I was able to install RS successfully on the server. Everything worked fine, but when I try to deploy a project, SS BIDS keeps asking for a valid password, no matter if I enter any valid password or not. After that if I try to access reporting service, the web interface says:
€œThe report server has encountered a configuration error. See the report server log files for more information. (rsServerConfigurationError) Get Online Help €?
In order to get it back working I have to go to Reporting Services Configuration Manager and mark €œApply default settings€? in Report Server Virtual Directory and Report Manager Virtual Directory. It is worth to say that no matter what project I try to deploy, it is always the same behavior, and that no error log is generated either in event viewer or in the reporting services log directory. I need to deploy reports to a server in Spain, which I do not have direct access to. Is there any way that I can simply deploy the reports to a server here, that I have access to, and then copy the reports to the server in Spain??? Or is there any other way? I cannot expect the customers in Spain to be able to use Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 themselves to deploy reports (they do not even have access to the tool).

How do I set up reporting services on a clustered server? I have configured reporting services on both clusters, but somehow I cannot initialize both of them. Only on will be initialized at a time. Does anyone have experience with this?
Previously I was using SSRS to create a local website(native mode) for our domain users to access. I wonder whether it is possible to share the website to outside users(just like youtube, everyone can access it). Is there a possible way to achieve that?
Can I use Reporting Services 2005 in a workgroup to serve reports for a windows application which is distributed accross the network?
I've already tried but when the application on a client pc requested a report from the report server i got a message about not having enough permissions to see the report. The windows application was builded using VB .NET 2.0 and VS2005.
The report server instance is installed on a server 2003 enterprise along with the SQL Server 2005.
If this is possible how can set permisions or make my application to be able to requests and show reports?

I just created a report builder. I have a main report and i wanted to create a sub report. why i cant or i cant view the path or the folder of my .rdl file to be use as my sub report.
Our DBA has installed reporting services on a server and now in order to access the report manager, one has to be an Admin on that Server. I am guessing that there is a mistake in the configuration of Reporting Services. Usually it should allow anybody who was added to the roles in the properties section of the Report Manager, right? I have also added the users to the DB..
Also I am using Windows Authentication to access Report Catalog items (Reporting Services is installed on Server2) from a web Application(deployed on Server1) and displaying the report using report viewer. For some reason, server1 has to be in an Admin role on Server2 to access the report catalog/report. This is kinda strange for me as I don't want everybody to be an Admin on Server2. Can anybody please point in the right direction?
I have done the following and a domain user would not access report created a login to the SQL server to the user (this SQL Server is where data source DB is)went to site setting in Report Manager and made this use a system userright clicked on report folder and made this user in the browser roleeven checked that in the report in question, the user is already in the browser role Still the user would not access the report! I have written a report visual studio. Â The report has 10 multi-value parameters that pull data from their individual data sets within the reports. Â When running the report from within Visual Studio it renders fine. Â There are no errors reported, only a warning related to a pathname I have use to retrieve image data and display on the report.Deployment of the report is error free.When I view the report I briefly get the "Loading" splash window, but then nothing. We are about to implement SSRS reports (SQL Server 2012), and have found one issue we don't like. The report looks great when we open it in pdf format. However, when we open it in Excel format, we want it to be the raw data, not look like the pdf report. I tried the simpl headers, and that removed the page header/footer. However, the report format was still in play.In other words, we would like the report when opened in Excel, to look just like it does when we open it as a CSV.I have tried to modify the config file a couple of times. Here is my latest attempt:

Essentially I have set Visible = "false" for the Excel type, and tried to duplicate the CSV, changing the name to make it look to the user like it is "Excel". This fails. I checked the event viewer, and I see two entries.. The RSReportServer.config file has been modified. (Information)The value for UrlRoot in RSReportServer.config is not valid. The default value will be used instead.I literally took the file, opened it in Notepad, pasted in my changes, from another notepad window, and tried to run the report. I did not see EITHER of the two names I expected, using the OverrideNames tag. As I said earlier, I was able to affect the outcome, by setting SimpleHeaders to true (or however it is identified). That did work in that the page header and footer was removed.
I have a ssrs report having 2 tables in with 4 columns in each. When I go to export option in preview I can see all data coming in one excel sheet, But I am trying to get 2 tables in 2 different pages in Excel when I export.First page of excel comes with first table data with 4 columns and second page of excel comes with second table data with 4 columns .
I am working on reports in SSRS 2008 (not R2)... There are some reports with parameters that are hidden when the report is accessed through normal URL using ReportViewer.asx..The thing is that these hidden parameters need to be visible when the report is accessed using SSRS Report Manager.
I'm wondering how to print a SSRS report without bringing up a report viewer. Is there way to print(PDF format) the SSRS report in the web application(Â .net ) Â directly from the "print" button without bringing up a report viewer?
I have a report builder drill down report. I have row groups with totals.   It looks like the attached.  The problem is when the report is not expanded the Grand Totals column is not accurate... it is displaying the totals of one of the rows when expanded.The expression in the Total Show text box is

Is there any way to not display the expression in the Total columns unless the report is expanded?
I have few reports under different folders in Report Manager. Is there a way to set the data source for the whole folder rather than each report individually? There is also a folder where reports generate dynamically. Since the report project doesn't exist anymore, I can't set the data source through code. How can I set the data source for the whole folder?
I was able to log in to SSRS report manager. But i was unable to run a report i designed on report builder.
It prompts for login when i wanted to run the report and i used the same windows authentication to sign in
It will show me the parameters but when i click on view report it gives this error

I want to repeat line on each page of report on PDF while using 2 columns on report. The problem is that if i use table border it will also repeat after second table. i want a line between two tables.

I am trying to develop a report from cube,and it has one drill through report.when i click on sales amount field on main report,then it open the drill through report with details.Here i passed the **(category,subcat,product)parameters(Cascaded)** to drill through report in action part of main report.In my main report i have two columns .

when i click on 100, parameters are passed & it open the detail report correctly, but when i click on 50,the values for subcat parameter is not getting values in detail report and same as the product also.
How do I get data on my linked report based on my grouped subtotal and grand total from the main report. The subtotal and grand total are calculated columns.

I have linked my report based on the NumbOfAccts column. I am able to get data if I click any of the NumbOfAccts values related to the state I want. However when I am not sure how to make the subtotal and grand total work. I want when I click on the subtotal of either coast, I should be able to see records of that coast e.g., if I select 37 I should be able to see all the records in East Coast. If I click on the Grand Total, I only want data related to those 2 coasts.

Hi, I'm having problems navigating from one report to another one if the second report has a multi-valued report parameter. When I navigate to the second report, I don't pass any parameters, but I get an error "parameter is missing a value" for the multi-valued report parameter. I have it setup as allow "multi-value" and "blank value". Any idea what the issue might be? Thanks.
