What Do I Need To Use SSIS API On A Target Machine?!
Aug 30, 2006
Hi,
I've created an SSIS package to be loaded using my ASP .NET app. This package is kept within the application and loaded via Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.LoadPackage method.
My target machine does not have MS SQL Server 2005 installed. So what do I need at minimum to get this up and running? What components do I've to install or copy over?
I tried to copy just the class libraries across. I copied Microsoft.SQLServer.ManagedDTS.dll and Microsoft.SQLServer.DTSRuntimeWrap.dll into my bin directory but I got this error:
[COMException (0x80040154): Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {E44847F1-FD8C-4251-B5DA-B04BB22E236E} failed due to the following error: 80040154.]
Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application..ctor() +25
[DtsPipelineException: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {E44847F1-FD8C-4251-B5DA-B04BB22E236E} failed due to the following error: 80040154.]
Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application..ctor() +87
I can't find any information online so any insight or advice will be very much appreciated!
When i try to debug the northwindoledb example with VS2005 i get the foolwing error message.
Is there a way to configure the solution to run witn WM5 emulator.
The application run with wm5 emulator when i set the plataform to Windows Mobile 2003, but i want to use the wm5 platform to debug my application with wm5 emulator.

Hello, I am not sure if this is the right forum. This is the first time that I have seen this error, No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it I have a web app that when some one inserts text in a text box and clicks a button it creates a new web page and a new table in the database. Up until this point it has always worked. A datalist returns the data. In the datalist there is a hyperlink that when clicked takes the client to the new webpage. But for some reason it is not working now and that is the error above. I am lost. Any help appreciated. Thanks Matt
I installed SQL 2005 Developer Edition on a Small Business Server 2003. It worked properly for a period of time. However, I cannot open the Management Studio today and it shows a message "Connection to target machine could not be made in a timely fasion.". Initially, I installed the SQL 2005 Evaluation Edition. After passing the evaluation period, I un-install the Evaluation Edition and then install the current Developer Edition. What's thing can I do?
Windows Server 2003 Standard x64 edition with Service Pack 1
SQL Server 2005 with .Net Framework 2.0 for 64bit machines.
I have a .Net application that uses assemlies that use COM references, so I have my application compiled with target platform x86 so that it can use COM Interop and can run in WOW64. All of my assemblies are compiled for x86 target platform.
We are using the same set of assemblies on 32bit machines and SQL server 2005 with 2.0 framework for 32 bit machines.
Now, I have one of my assemblies target platform x86, being used in SQL server 2005 on 64 bit machines using CLR. The assembly gets installed fine, but when I call the function I get following error on 64 bit machines only. 32 bit machines do not have any problem:
Msg 10314, Level 16, State 11, Line 1
An error occurred in the Microsoft .NET Framework while trying to load assembly id 65548. The server may be running out of resources, or the assembly may not be trusted with PERMISSION_SET = EXTERNAL_ACCESS or UNSAFE. Run the query again, or check documentation to see how to solve the assembly trust issues. For more information about this error:

at System.Reflection.Assembly.Load(String assemblyString)
We are using the same exact steps but I get the above error in 64bit machines. I know if I had the asseblies compiled with AnyCPU, it works on both sql servers but then my application fails in 64 bit machines. If I compiled all my assemblies with x86 platform then application works but sql server functions stop working on 64 bit machines. Is there a work arount that I could use so that I don't have to create 2 sets of assemblies for application and sql server seperate.
Any help would be appreciated. Also thanks in advance.
-> SQL Server 2005 Standard set as a named instance, runs as a local system -> SQL Server protocol enabled: TCPIP (configured to listen on port 1433 with use of dynamic ports disabled) -> Remote connections through the SQL Server Surface Area Configuration.
Server starts successfully.
But, I received the following error on trying to process a cube from BI studio is -
OLE DB error: OLE DB or ODBC error: Login timeout expired; HYT00; An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections.; 08001; TCP Provider: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. ; 08001.
I have a SQL Server 2005 box that was moved from a domain environment to a non-domain environment and was never dropped from its original domain before moving over. Subsequently a new domain was created at the data center this SQL Server box now resides in. The machine was dropped from its old domain and joined to the new one.
All the while the service accounts were set to the local admin account. When I tried to start the Configuration Manager I got the message "Connection to target machine could not be made in a timely fashion.". I read some blog entries and tried changing all the service accounts to Local System and the error message still came up.
All of the SQL Server services run fine. It is just this management console that I cannot open. I wasn't with this employer when this box was moved to the data center so I do not know if it worked prior and there isn't anyone here that could give me its history.
I have created an application using service broker.i have a source database which in a particular server say server A and want to send message to target database which is in another server say server B.
i have configured all the service broker objects and advanced service broker objects in correct way by reffering the site --http://www.sqlservercentral.com/columnists/sindukuri/2797.asp
but when i am trying to send message from my source server to target server , i am getting the following error in sys.transmission_queue.
Connection attempt failed with error: '10061(No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.)'.
I have enabled the tcp port in both the server.
Note-My source server is an XP and Target Server is an windows server 2003.
can anybody please tell do i need to set any extra configuration in windows server 2003 or any thing do l need to do which i have left.
please do help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks a lot in advance.....................................
Help! I am using Script Transformation to output a new column as image[DT_IMAGE] field to store serialized object. In the VB script, the sample code as
The package always runs fine on my developing machine and will halt on other machine at AddBlobData after certain number row records were processed. I am stuck here. Anyone has any suggestion?
What I need is reading data from mutiple tables in one database and writing into a single table in another datable. In order preserve all the columns data, I use input column fields to construct a new object and then serialize it, and store the serialize data into detination db table. (The object and serialization function is coming from c# dll.)
Dim b As BusinessLicense = New BusinessLicense() b.ApprovalDate = Row.approvaldate b.BusinessId = Row.busid b.BusinessName = Row.busname b.NaicsCode = Row.naicscode b.NaicsDescription = Row.naicsdescr b.OwnerName = Row.ownername b.Phone = Row.phone b.Pkey = Row.pkey b.RenewalDate = Row.renewaldate b.StartDate = Row.startdate b.Suite = Row.suite

I am working in a distributed environment, I verified msgs have been successfully send from server1 db1 to server2 db2, but I still get the following error msg from the sender server through SQL profile:
Connection attempt failed with error: '10061(No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.)'.
Can anyone help me out in getting the information or execution progress of a package like "number of records migrated", "which component is getting executed at present",etc...when we migrate the datas using the package which we have created programmatically and trying to execute the package programatically. We can see these informations in the the "progress tab" when we execute the package using BIDS in SSIS.
I have a SSIS package that simply moves data from a SQL database A to another SQL database B. I have update (increased) the size of a nvarchar column, on both A and B.I am wondering if there is a way to "refresh" somehow the SSIS package so I don't have to rebuild and redeploy it.The error I get now is a truncation error: "Text was truncated or one or more characters had no match in the target code page".
Hi, I am less of a technical but more of a analyst professional and right now investgating on various tools / options for the new conversion project I will be leading in insurance client. One of the tools that client want to use is SSIS but the source and target database is not on SQL server but plans are to build a staging SQL server database for transformation. Does SSID supports this kind of ETL process where both source and target system are non SQL servers.
In Past, I created DTS package on 2000 version, that import TXT file into SQL 2000 table.
Now I migrated the DTS to DTSX (SSIS) package, and all is working fine. but I can not find how can I edit or modify the target table name in DTSX(SSIS) package in BI Studio.
I am created a SSIS package to export data. I am exporting query data to a flat file to a different server. I tried to use the UNC path and it failed saying could not access the file. How can I create a SSIS package to export data from one server to another?
I have a SSIS package with Script task ,it performs basic operation of moving files to one location to another .It works fine in VS2012 environment and when i write a SQL job to execute the package ,it fails ,below is the error :
Code: 0x00000001    Source: Script Task_MoveOldFilestoArchive     Description: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. End Error DTExec: The package execution returned DTSER_FAILURE (1). Started: 9:54:57 AM Finished: 9:54:58 AM Elapsed: 1.029 seconds. The package execution failed. The step failed.
I was trying to load SSIS shipped from my colleague. It has configuration file with his SSIS. I added this one to my local project. I removed configuration file from my project. In case anything goes wrong, I also delete OLE DB Connection String, and recreated one. Modified all data flow and control flow for any connection to point to my new one.
After the modification, it still fails on login 'sa'. I cannot figure out the problem. Is there any tricky inside of SSIS configuration file?
We are trying to take advantage of the new Security Context for SSIS but users are unable to connect remotely to the SSIS Service unless they have been added to the Administrators Users Group on the server. I have tried adding them to Guests, Power Users, Remote Desktop Users, Users and SQLServer2005DTSUser$machine but the user is unable to connect.
The message received when the user is unable to connect is:
Cannot connect to 192.x.x.x Additional Information -> Failed to retrieve data for this request. (Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoEnum) -> Connect to SSIS Service on machine "192.x.x.x" failed: Access is denied
What is the list of permissions and privileges that a user that does not belong to the server's Administrator group and have sysadmin server role, must have to allow them to create and run a package through SSIS.
When installing service pack 2 the installation would not allow me to select ssis or tools. ssis works as long as you are access the machine using a 32 bit remote client however we get the following error when trying to use ssis on the 64 bit machine. How can I fix this problem without reinstalling SQL server?
Error loading type library/DLL. Connect to SSIS Service on machine "<computer_name>" failed:
Think this problem was cuased by installing the service pack 1 hotfixes in the wrong order?
None of the information I have found about this issue has help.
We recently decided to "break apart" our BI environment. We used to have everything on one box, DB Engine, SSIS, SSAS & SSRS. Everything has been running fine, but we now have other projects using these services, so we decided to break them apart into their own boxes.
We now have DB Engine on one Server, SSIS & SSRS on another server and SSAS on yet another server, so we now have three boxes that replaced one box. All are Windows 2012, standard, 64-bit with SQL Server 2012 + SP1 + CU2.
Since some of our SSIS packages have to access external resources, we used a domain account for it's service account. The DB Engine and SSAS box are using the default service accounts when installed. I can execute the packages fine on the SSIS server, I can even execute them via SQL Agent jobs on the SSIS box (we did install a default instance of SQL on the SSIS box), however when I try to execute a package from my laptop, it fails with the ugly "Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYANONYMOUS LOGON'".
I immediately double checked my SPNs and they all looked correct for the SSIS server and the service account we are using (and we had no duplicates). I also double checked the User Rights Assignment in the Local policy editor and all the correct Rights have been assigned (Log on as a service, Bypass traverse checking, Impersonate a client after authentication).
Greetings all,I cannot connect to my SSIS service from Management Studio. This is on my local machine, which is my "sandbox" and preliminary development platform.
There are slightly different error messages and extended information returned depending on whether I connect using "localhost" or my explicit machine name.
I have tried registering MSXML*.dll as suggested elsewhere in these forums. I've also tried the DCOM config changes suggested elsewhere in these forums (or someone's blog?) - can't find the link at the moment.
This is all on the same machine and I am a local admin on this machine.
Anyone seen this? Anyone have any suggestions. I'd appreciate any tips.
Regards,
Tom

Hi everybody, I'm newby in SSIS. I have been using DTS in SQL 2000. Trying to learn how to execute SSIS package from C# code of ASP.NET web server. Here's my case: 1. SSIS package with simple data transformation from one table to CSV is stored in SQL Server 2005 storage 2. CSV is for simplicity placed in C: .txt 3. I haven't used SSIS configuration files 4. Protection level of package = EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey 5. Executes OK from Bussiness inteligence studio 6. I've created console application with this code:
7. When I connect through Remote Desktop Connection I successfully execute this console application on SQL server host machine. 8. When I try execution from computer where I develop package and where I successfully executed it from Bussiness inteligence studio I'm geting FAILURE was a result
Connection params for SQL are same in console application and in SSIS project of Bussiness inteligence studio.
I have developed an SSIS Package which is the Data Source for a Reporting Services report (using the OLE DB Destination DataReader component - very cool and powerfull!!!).
I have one Connection Manager defined in the package to access a SQL Server 2000 Database. The authentication is set to SQL Server Authentication (per the documentation in BOL) where I provide the UserID and Password.
Here is what works and what doesn't work:
In BIDS on my local machine the report executes beautifully.
When deploying the SSIS Package to my local machine's Integration Services File System and the report to my local machine's Report Server database the report executes beautifully (Yes, I'm using the developer edition).
When deploying the package to a W2003 Server Integration Services installation as well as deploying the Report and Data Source to the same W2003 Server's Reporting Services installation - the report fails.
I think it is because the passsword to the SQL Account is not "set". I am able to run the package through BIDS via dtexecui on this W2003 server successfully. However, when I run the report on the server it fails.
I am guessing it is because the password for the SQL Server Authenitcation is not "there". I am encrypting via "Save SensitiveDataWithPasssword".
What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions would be welcome.
I have created a SSIS package on my local machine. I need to deploy this package on a Test Server and it should execute as a scheduled job.
I am not sure of the steps I need to follow and things I need to be careful about.
I have the following doubts: 1) While developing the package, I have referred to the local SQL Server with Windows credentials. 2) The package, once deployed on the Test Server needs to point to the test server database with SQL Server credentials. 3) I know how to create a deployment utility. However, I am not sure if the deployment manifest will run without errors on the remote machine. 4) Even if the deployment manifest executes successfully and deploys the packages, how do I generate a script to create a Job and schedule the package? 5) I am using a File DSN to connect to IBM DB2 database in one of my Data Flow Tasks in this package. How do I configure it automatically on the remote machine? Won't there be any issues with it?
I have few DTSX packages on my SQL server 2005. These packages are supposed to transfer data and stored procedures from server to client Express engine. The scenario is that when user connects with the server he should run some kind of utility or any other way to run those SSIS packages so that the data could be transfered.
Remember the user machine has only SQL Express Engine and the packages are in SQL server 2005 machine.
Can any one help me out how to achive this scenario?
I get hte following Error --------------------------------

When i try to execute the same code on the server where all the package are hosted. It is working fine.
More Info:
In thepackage we are using one "Source Flat file connection" and one "Oledb Destination connection"
Please help me to solve this problem, as my client needs it very badly
I have done a full Sql Server install on a server and the SSIS service is not available. Normally when I load Sql Server I get €œSQL Server Integration Services" as a service that I can start. On this machine it is not listed after the install. I don't get any errors through out the install.
One of the step in sql agent job is to execute the SSIS package to copy files from remote shared location to local server where sql server is installed. The account on which SQL agent runs as has access to remote shared location. However SSIS package always fails with following error:
An error occurred with the following error message: "Access to the path '\sharedlocationBCKTST105092008.csv' is denied.".
We have tried using proxies but same issue come with proxy also. When using proxy, we created a proxy for a user who has access on that shared folder on Windows server(from which files are to be copied). If we login to SSIS server with the above user and execute SSIS package manually it works fine. However if we login with different user and run the job via SQL agent using proxy of the above user, then job fails throwing same above mentioned error
I've SQL Server running on 64 bit. When I schedule a package to run every night which has excel data transformation, it fails. Initally I had a problem running through BIDS also but then I found in project properties you can switch this off by specifying property Run64BitRuntime by false. After going through some forums, many have suggested that when scheduling a package, modify the command arguments to run as 32bit runtime. These command argumnents can be generated from making use of tool DTExecUI.exe Even after using generated command arguments from this tool, it doesn't help.
Below is my command argument and the error message generated.

I have designed a packege using my local machine ( 32bit) and am trying to deploy this package to 64bit machine and open it up.. are there any issues that I need to aware of? 32 bit ssis and 64bit ssis are comparable each other?
