Msdb Full

Mar 20, 2000

Problem with Msdb
error 1105 can not allocate space in sysbackupdetail.
msdb has 1.0MB of database space available and 1.97MB of log space.
I intended to expand the database but must first expand the device. the available space for the device is -703. So I can not adjust and expand. Any ideas. My hourly dumps appear to be functioning if you view them ny expanding the device but tasks show them as failing.

I noticed in my alerts that there is an alert 9002 identifying that the log file associated with the msdb database is full. This is preventing users from logging in to our production database. How do I go about correcting this problem ?

File System And MSDB Folders Gone

Jul 27, 2007

This is terrible thing to happed at 4:30 pm on Friday!
I was working yesterday on some of deployment packages using file system (by the way, my msdb can not expand )
and just an hour ago I wanted to try some parent child deployment using file system.
but,
The only two folders I see in Integration services are Running Packages and Stored Packages. Nothing under those ones...
I have checked default location for File System (C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90DTSPackages) and there are three packages there but these do not show in IServices.
And another question, if I execute package by double clicking on .dstx file should that make it show under File System?

thanks

SQL 2012 :: MSDB Suspect Pages From Log File?

Jun 16, 2015

We found an interesting 'issue' in one of our productive user database:

The output of msdb..suspect_pages table:
db_idfile_idpage_idevent_typeerror_countlast_update
16 2 22 32015.06.12 10:40
16 2 3 3 3 2015.06.12 10:40
16 2 6 3 3 2015.06.12 10:40
16 2 7 3 3 2015.06.12 10:40
16 2 1 3 3 2015.06.12 10:40

The problem is, that this user database only has one data file and file_id 2 is the log file.I understand that the event_type shows checksum and torn page error but in the log file? DBCC CHECKDB shows no errors and the database is part of an AOAG in synchronized state. We have log backups in every 15 minutes.

DB Engine :: Can't Shrink MSDB Log File - Data Is 3GB But LDF Is 300 GB

Sep 26, 2015

On one of our SQL Server 2008R2 instances the MSDB log file (MSDBLog.ldf) has grown to 300GB+.  The data (.mdf) file is only 3GB.

Neither DBCC Shrinkfile(MSDBLog) nor an interactive "Tasks / Shrink / ..."

I've already deleted much of the historyThe MSDB database is in "Simple" recovery modeI've done a full backup (in case the log was "waiting" for a backup)

I hesitate to do things (such as as Detach / Attach) with MSDB that I might do with a user database.

Repairing Corrupt MSDB File In SQL Server 2000.

Jun 13, 2001

Hi,

I am having problems with my SQL server Agent.

1) When I try to create a New Job/Alert/Operator, I get an error message:

Error 207: Invalid Column Name "category_id"
Invalid Column Name "netsend_address"
Invalid Column Name "last_netsend_date"
Invalid Column Name "last_netsend_time"

.....All these are referring to columns in System Tables of the system Database MSDB.

2)In another SQL Server...say "A", in it's SQL Server Agent, using the Multi-Server Administration, I set up the SQL Server Agent of "A" as the Master (MSX) server, and set up a Target(TSX) server pointing to the Server "B" that has problems in SQL Agent....referred in 1) above. When I try to "Detach the MSX Server" from server B, i get a message Error 207: Invalid Column Name "netsend_address", and cannot detach..........This is again referrring to a System Table.

It appears that the problem is with the MSDB database being corrupt. Is there a way I can Repair a Corrupt MSDB without Re-installing SQL Server 2000 and without a Backup.

Any help greatly appreciate.

Thanks

Russell

Tempdb Log File Is Full

Jul 12, 2007

My Tempdb log file is getting full very frequently. I could see that tempdb log file is not getting truncate automatically since checkpoint is not occuring as execpted.

If a shrink the tempdb its getting truncated immediately and releasing the full occupied space.

So i come to an conclusion that auto checkpoints are not happening even though the tempdb is in SIMPLE recovery model.

I search in KB and could find the article related to this error.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909369/en-us

I would like to get it confirmed is the article described is the same issue i am facing. Also if you could let me know the hot fix details for this, that would be great.

Primary File Group Full

Apr 26, 2005

Weird.  I have an Agent job that populates some warehouse data every night.  It's been working fine for over a year.  Then it fails with a message that thePRIMARY file group is full.  The database is set to Simple recovery, automatic, unrestricted growth by 10% for both the log file and the data file.  The drive it's on has 96GB free.  The data file is 1.5GB and the log is 2MB and there's not very much fluctuation in the amoutn of data going into it.
Anybody have an idea why that would happen?
Thanks for any insight,Pete

PRIMARY File Group Is Full EMERGENCY!

Apr 24, 2002

Customer site has detached their database and deleted the .ldf file and reattached because they want to decrease the log file size. They set their log size to restricted file growth and 5mb. After about 20 minutes they started getting "Transaction log is full" so I had them up the transaction log to 50mb. After about another 20 mins everyone on the network started getting errors saying that data cannot be added because the PRIMARY file group was full ("Could not allocate space for object TrussLumber in Database ATP because the primary file group is full").

There is plenty of disk space so I know thats not the problem. And they can add data to other databases, so I cant imagine what could possibly be causing this....Can anyone help me out?

Thanks!
