I have a Symbol MC3070 mobile device with WinCE 5.0 and .NET CF 2.0 installed. These were installed when I bought the device. but now I want to install Sql Server CE...where can I find the package? I downloaded some programs from Microsoft's website but they were for PC's.
I installed Sql Server,Sql Server CE server tools.and now I want to install Sql Server CE now...May you help pls...

I have two SSIS packages in a project, one calling the other. The parent package works fine in my local mechine. After they are deployed to the production, I schedeul jobs to run the packages in the SqlServer. The child package works fine if I run it alone, but the parent package could not find its child package if I run the parent package . As I checked, all xml config files and the connection string pointing to the child package were set correctly. It seems the parent package did not use the xml config file. Can someone help me? I have installed SQL Server 2005 and the SSIS service is running. However I cannot find the package to use it.
I am evaluating SQL Server 2005 so I currently have a trial copy - is this the problem? I want to recommend a purchase but I do not want to end up with the same issue with the organisation having bought a copy.
Newbie here.In my database I'm needing to automate some data imports. I have theimport set up as a DTS package and it works wonderfully. But I'mhaving trouble kicking it off as a stored procedure, or even from theQuery Analyzer. I used dtsrunui to get a proper connection string, butwhen I enterEXEC xp_cmdshell 'dtsrun /S "(local)" /N "MyPackage" /A"KeyNum":"19"="19687627" /W "0" /E'I get an error that says "Could not find stored procedure'xp_cmdshell'". xp_cmdshell is indeed there, under Master, ExtendedProcedures. I tried calling it dbo.xp_cmdshell, but that didn't help.I'm guessing that I need to point the command to the location of theSP, but I have no idea how to do that. View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have a sql job type SSIS package that is not populating a database table as expected and I'm trying to figure what why not but I'm not sure where the "code" is. The person that created it said they copied a legacy package (sql 2000) and made modifications to it, then migrated it to the new version. When a legacy package is migrated is there a SSIS solution built? I see you can edit SSIS packages only in BI Development Studio but I'm not sure where to find package.

Select the type of storage location to export the package to. The following options are available:
SQL Server
File System
SSIS Package Storage
So do you pick "File System" in order to view it in BI?

If the SSIS package does not create or populate a table on the server I then want to check if there is a stored procedure that populates this.

I have a package which calls another package. It had been working fine for a while. Recently I changed the connection managers' names. Everything in the parent package works fine. Database has been updated correctly. But when it comes to calling the child package it generates :
OnError,CRPRCHMSQCZ,,Execute AMSClientAgentMaintenance,,,3/8/2007 5:49:38 PM,3/8/2007 5:49:38 PM,-1073602332,0x,Error 0x80070002 while preparing to load the package. The system cannot find the file specified.
. (there is a period here instead of a file name)
I tested the child package on the server. It works fine. I connected the child package to the Execute Package Task by selecting from the packages on the server. So it is there for sure. Connection manager's name is read from the .dtsConfig. Child package is executed from my development machine but not on the server. I made a small test package just to call this child package, it generates the same error...
Any help is appreciated

I created a package which passes some infornmations( through parameters) to its child package.
I need to do some processing in parent package based on execution status of child package.i.e.
if child fails then some operation and if child succeeds then other operation.
To determine the status of execution of child package I am using two differnt constraint ..one constraint is having value "Success" and other having value "Failure".
My problem is that when child packge is executed successfully the constraint with value = "Success" works properly but when child fails the constraint with value "Failure" does not work.

We have a SSIS run which runs as follows
The master package has a configuration file, specifying the connect strings
The master package passes these connect-strings to the child packages in a variable
Both master package and child packages have connection managers, setup to use localhost. This is done deliberately to be able to test the packages on individual development pc€™s.
We do not want to change anything inside the packages when deploying to test, and from test to production. All differences will be in the config files (which are pretty fixed, they very seldom change). That way we can be sure that we can deploy to production without any changes at all.
The package is run from the file system, through a job-schedule.
We experience the following when running on a not default sql-server instance (called dkms5253uedw)
Case 1:
The master package starts by executing three sql-scripts (drop foreign key€™s, truncate tables, create foreign key€™s). This works fine.
The master package then executes the first child package. We then in the sysdtslog get:
Error - €œcannot connect to database xxx€?
Info - €œpackage is preparing to get connection string from parent €¦€?
The child package then executes OK, does all it€™s work, and finish. Because there has been an error, the master package then stops with an error.
Case 2:
When we run exactly the same, but with the connection strings in the config file pointing to the default instance (dkms5253), the everything works fine.
Case 3:
When we run exactly the same, again against the dkms5253uedw instance, but now with the exact same databases defined in the default instance, it also works perfect.
Case 4:
When we then stop the sql-server on the default instance, the package faults again, this time with
Error - €œtimeout when connect to database xxx€?
Info - €œpackage is preparing to get connection string from parent €¦€?
And the continues as in the first case
From all this we conclude, that the child package tries to connect to the database before it knows the connection string it gets passed in the variable from the master package. It therefore tries to connect to the default instance, and this only works if the default instance is running and has the same databases defined. As far as we can see, the child package does no work against the default instance (no logging etc.).
We have tried delayed validation in the packages and in the connection managers, but with the same results (error).
So we are desperately hoping that someone can help us solve this problem.

I have packages stored in SQL store. I was letting users run the packages from a .net app that I made with
Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime
Now I have noticed this causes the packages to run on the client pc cpu, as well as the network traffic is done via the client pc, in my particular case this is slow.
From the doc and in this forum I have found that you can run a package on the Server cpu through sql agent, let packages be run in a sql job. after that you can start a package from an application with the SQL sp_start_job .
But How do you set a user::varibale in a package if you have to start the package from a sql agent job ?
There must be a difference, but I don't know what it is.
Can someone please explain the advantages and disadvantages of each method?

I tried all the INFORMATION_SCHEMA on SQL 2000 andI see that the system tables hold pretty much everything I aminterested in: Objects names (columns, functions, stored procedures, ...)stored procedure statements in syscomments table.My questions are:If you script your whole database everything you end up havingin the text sql scripts, are those also located in the system tables?That means i could simply read those system tables to get any informationI would normally look in the sql script files?Can i quickly generate a SQL statement of all the indexes on my database?I read many places that Microsoftsays not to modify anything in those tables and not query them since theirstructure might change in future SQL versions.Is it safe to use and rely the system tables?I basically want to do at least fetching of information i want from thesystem tables rather than the SQL script files.I also want to know if it's pretty safe for me to make changes in thesetables.Can i rename an object name for example an Index name, a Stored Procedurename?Can i add a new column in the syscolumns table for a user table?Thank you

I have 64 bit Vista Ultimate running on an HP dv9000.
I am using the download from the bottom of the download page for SSX where it says 64 bit version.
Prior to this I got the. "64-bit ASP.net is registered. Required 32-bit ASP.NET to install Microsoft Reporting services 2005(32-bit)." messagd during the pre-install scan. From what I gather in the posts, the reporting issue is different from my installation package problem.
I have been trying to prove a point to friends about how far you can go with SSX but am having no luck installing it. This whole process took 1 hour in XP but I've been stymied for 2 days.

We just upgraded to SQL Server 2005 from SQL Server 2000. The DB was backed up using Enterprise Manager and restored with SQL Server Management Studio Express CTP. Everything went as expected (no errors, warnings, or any other indicator of problems).
The DB resides in a DB Server (Server1) and the application we are running is a Client/Server system where the AppServer resides on Server2.
During the application's operation all read, create, and delete transactions work fine but no update works. When viewing details in Trace Log I see this message after attempting any update:
Could not find server 'Server1' in sysservers. Execute sp_addlinkedserver to add the server to sysservers. (7202)

My ISP runs MS SQL server for me and does not have experience managing this type of database. For example, the database occassionally crashes and looses data. Our site is not live yet, but once we go live, this is unacceptable.

In SQL Configuration Manager Network Configuration I set the TCP / IP, Shared Memory and Named Pipes have set enabled. I installed all the server components.

When I Installed SQL Server in my PC I didn't choose if I want to connect with Windows Authentication or SQL Server Authentication. So, I can't connect to neither of those, In the Connect to Server box I cannot find any server to connect. How do I connect to the server with the Windows Authentication ?
I need to deploy a multi-user application to several different customers. My app was built on VB.net and uses SQL Server Express. For remote client to connect to the server I understand that I need to use a connection string something like this:
€œServer=ServerName;Database=myDB;Trusted_Connection=True;€?
My question is, how will I know what the server name is? Can that be different for different customers? When I test this on my PC, I use (Server=.SQLEXPRESS;), but what do I use for deployment?

Is there a way to find out the product key which is installed on servers. I did some searches and found some thirdparty software to get that information but I don't want to use them on production, is there a way which microsoft recommends.

I installed already vs 2005. The installation installed automaticaly SQL Server 2005 express. Now , I want to see which databases I have there and tables,views,store procedure etc. I tried the server explorer in the vs but I don't see any database on my pc. I tried also to open somthing like enterprise manager like I have in sql server 2000 but I don't found such a tool. I tried to find it in START=>Programs=>SQL Server 2005 but their I see only the Configuration tool. I want to know if the installation of the vs 2005 does not install Databases for the sql server Express ? Should I have to download this database samples? What about a tool to view those database like the enterprise manager in sql server 2000 ?
