I am looking to make the primary key auto increment by 1. I have found by looking around the internet that you need to do this in the Tables -> [Table Name] -> Columns -> [Column Name], Properties window, and I see the "Identity Increment" however all of the properties there are greyed out -- I can't access them. Any ideas on how to make this work? For some background: I'm running SQL Server 2005 with Visual Studio 2005. To create this database, I right-clicked on my project, and went to 'Add SQL Database', I filled in the columns all from within visual studio.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI know there's a trick to this, that I can't figure out.
Have an SSIS package that I developed and deployed/saved(?) to a file on the SSIS server. Now I need to change the data flows. Did that, no issues, lets me resave the file, but I can't debug or execute the package so I can test what I did is right? Why is the debug drop down box greyed out? There's gotta be something I'm missing here.
THanks,

Hello I am working on a sql express table and while configuring the steps after I select the data source and the selectment statement window shows, I want to use the advanced tab but it is greyed out. I want to be able to add edit and delete my data. I have administrator rights for this project and the workstation so thats not the issue. What I am tryng to accomplish is extending a website to manage it's content and users. Also the table has colums and the colums has test data within them I tested a query and the connection had a successful return. Maybe it's a configuration thing I am unaware of.

I'm trying to detach a database and reattach to another server. When trying to detach it using Enterprise Manager, the command is greyed out. I've tried taking the database offline first but the command is still not enabled. I'm logged in as sysadmin. What gives?

I would like to enter info into the startup service account so that the MS
SQL Server Agent will run under this account. Then I can run jobs.
However, I don't know why the "startup service account" info is

Hello All,
I have a workstation that had an installation of SQL 2K5 that a tech set up for me. Naturally, it was the wrong edition AND no components were actually installed, making my laptop into a paperweight. I advised that we get SQL Developer for the DBA's and I am trying to install but the option for Reporting Services is greyed out.
I have uninstalled SQL (I think it was Standard) and I even went through the "complete uninstall" detailed in one of these threads thinking that was the problem. I am still unable to install Reporting Services.
Has anyone run into this problem?
PLEASE HELP!
thanks!
Hi,
I'm trying to install SQL Server 2005 onto my XP Professional PC. When I get to the "Components to install" part, the "SQL server database services option" is greyed out. Infact, all options except "Workstation components..." are greyed out. I've tried uninstalling all previous versions of SQL server and trying again, but with the same results.
any help would be much appreciated

Hi all,
I'm working on a new SSRS implementation, and have created a Report Model against an SSAS database. I launced Report Builder and can see and select the model in the list, but the OK button at the bottom of the pane is greyed out so I'm unable to actually start building a report against it. Any ideas on what I need to change to make the button work? I have already verified that I have full access to the data source as well as the model, in addition to the underlying SSAS DB, so I don't believe it is a permissions issue... But I'm certainly open to any suggestions.
Thanks!
I have added several SqlDataSource controls to my C# project, but when I try to configure them, there seems to be a lot of greyed out buttons. Either the WHERE, ORDER BY, and ADVANCED buttons are greyed out, or when they are active, the ADVANCED button always displays the advabced options which are always greyed out. I doesn't make any sense to me. Please explain (in baby language please)

I've got a report with several cascading parameters. When I preview the report, everything works fine. However, when I deploy the report, the very first (and thus the rest) of the cascading parameters is greyed out. Any idea what's going on?
I am passing one unrelated parameter into this report, and I also have three non-cascading parameters before this one, but none of them are used in the queries for the cascading parameters. They also appear correctly at the top of the report.
This is rather frustrating since the preview works fine -- making it pretty difficult to debug the issue!
Hi All,
Great forum y'all have going here.
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
Enterprise Manager:
I have setup and 'sucessfully tested a MAPI session' with a mail profile via support services > sql mail. That works fine, however in sql server agent properties the mail session section on the first general tab appears to be greyed out.
scenario is:
Windows Server 2003 SBS edition
SQL Server 2000 SP3
Exchange Server 2003 is also running on the server, with Outlook 2003 client (so i suspect side chaining issue).
Any help appreciated! did not have any luck googling or using microsoft KB.
I am looking at the file / filegroup level backup and recovery options within SQL Server and I'm struggling with the following concept.
Books online assures me that it is possible to perform a file restore whilst the database is in the simple recovery model.
So I have set up a database with two separate file groups, a read/write primary and a read only "secondary". Each filegroup has 2 underlying data files.
I have then created a "live" customers tables within the primary filegroup and assigned my existing "archive" customers tables within the secondary filegroup.
If I try to perform a file or filegroup level backup within management studio, those options are greyed out. I can only perform a database backup.
If I switch back to the full recovery model, the options are no longer greyed out.
So my question is this, is file level backup and recovery actually supported in the simple user model, do you have to perform this task outside of management studio, or (as is likely) am I missing something crucial?
Hi.
My company has upgraded some of the database systems to SQL 2005 while other have a fresh install.
The problem we're seeing is that the view button located in the Advanced section of the steps in the Job properties windows is greyed out. The path is valid as we can copy the path and paste it at the run command and view the log.
Does anyone know how this problem can be resolved? If we select to log the results to a table; we have access to the corresponding view button but not the one for the file system logging.
We rely heavily on this feature since we used it often under SQL 2K. Can anyone provide any helpful details to resolve this or has anyone seen this problem before???
Any helpful replies would be highly appreciated.
Thanks!
I have SSRS 2005 installed. User wants to change email address on subscription to send to external customer or others in our organization.
If I modify right "Manage individual subscriptions" to enabled for his security profile, the email address box is greyed-out.
I tried changing value <SendEmailToUserAlias>xxxx</ SendEmailToUserAlias> to FALSE in rsreportserver.config, with SSRS restart, but address box is greyed-out.
If I modify right "Manage all subscriptions" enabled for his security profile, the address box is not greyed-out, but can now see-edit everyone's subscriptions for that report.
How can I turn on address box is not greyed-out, but not open view of ALL subscriptions to my users?
While configuring a TableAdapter I noticed that the option "Create methods to send updates directly to the database (GenerateDBDirectMethods)" is greyed out.Can a TableAdapter only have one table in order to create the methods for sending the updates directly to the database? If so, what is the work-around?The TableAdapter that I am trying to create uses the following statement to fill its DataTable:SELECT Client.Name, Users.FirstName, Users.LastNameFROM Users INNER JOIN Client ON Users.ClientId = Client.IdThanks for your response in advance!

Have installed SQL 2008 on Windows 2008 and have come across a strange issue.
When connecting to the Report Server cvia SSMS to enable "My Reports" (for example) the Report Server Properties are greyed out and we cannot alter them. This occurs when logged on both locally & remotely to the Win 2008 server.
Interestingly, we have another (XP Pro) box with SQL 2008 on it. If we connect to the Win 2008 SQL report server from the XP machine's SSMS, then we have full control and can access and change the report server properties on the Win 2008 server.
The relevant domain accounts are in the Admin group on the Win 2008 server and the XP Server so we are confused as to why we cannot edit the Win 2008 report server properties locally.
In Domain Management, when I click on the Import values button... "Import Valid values from Excel" is greyed out and unavailable.
