I have created a store procedure in sql server 2005.
At first, it shows up as a normal user defined store procedure in Object explorer.
Recently, I found I could not found the procedure in normal place. But the execution is fine.
Finally I found it stays under system procedure folder.
How this could happen?

I just found that the content of my Database "ssmsExpressDB" is gone, but the name "ssmsExpressDB" remains in the Object Explorer of SQL Server Management Studio Express. If I delected the name "ssmsExpressDB" and executed the following .sql:

And I have closed all my projects and I do not know what " The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process" is all about!? Please help and tell me how I can re-attach the content of my "ssmsExpressDB" in the Object Explorer of SQL Server Management Studio Express.

I saved a stored procedure (see below) and I'm not seeing listed within the 'Databases' / 'Remote_Serials' (DB name) / 'Programmability' / 'Stored Procedures' folder within the 'Object Explorer' window.
I'm trying to perform a simple add-info-from-form-into-DB process.
Is it because of the way I put together the procedure? I have a feeling that it is (was going off a video demo, which created it within VB.NET 2008 Express, but I'm not able to connect to the DB from there; it says the file is open, when I completely closed out of SQL Management Studio Express).

When trying to access the stored procedure from VB.NET 2008 Express, it says, "Could not find stored procedure 'spInsertSerialInfo'."

Im trying to use a .NET IPAddress in my UDT. i create the assembly, but i get this error when i try to create the type in SQL Server:
Type "IPAddress.IPAddressUDTType" is marked for native serialization, but field "address" of type "IPAddress.IPAddressUDTType" is not valid for native serialization.
From what i understand about the IPAddress object in .NET it is serializable. what am i doing wrong
( note, im just doing this for research purposes and not planing to use the UDT)

Running into a brain problem here. I remeber reading an article a while back (2002?) on either Visual Studio Magazine or MSDN Magazine where there was a way to generate Stored Procedures from User Defined Functions. I need this information in order to do my job as it is also a way to cut down on time for this project I am trying to finish. Does anyone have the code or remeber what I am talking about. I just finished Kathleen Dollards article again on using XSLT to generate code but would really like to use the User Defined Functions.
I searched for the article on line but came up dry. Searched through all my magazines but could not find the article. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Bit of topic I guess but still relevant to the board.

What are the pros and cons of each?
One advantage that I can see withh UDFs is that they are a bit a Views with parameters. You can perform joins on UDF columns (which you cannot do with a Stored Proc). You can do the same with Views but UDFs have the advantage that you restrict the number of rows with a parameterised WHERE (or HAVING) clause.

How to view or open tables under object explorer details, when i double click an object under object explorer.
thats how the default settings used to be.
now when i double click any object or try to open query analyzer it is open in the same left side pane on top of Object explorer window.
i did something to my explorer and explorer details panes since then both are separated, they are not getting synchronized.

While attempting to set up sql replication in MSSQL 2005 one of my user databases is now in the systems database folder. I need to move it back to the user databases folder. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just realized recently that a database "XYZ" in the Object Explorer of my SQL Server Management Studio Express (SSMSE) is put in the Database Explorer of my VB 2005 Express for processing a Stored Procedure in executing the SELECT statements (not by using Input and/or Output Parameters) during the ADO.NET 2.0-VB 2005 Express programming, then the content of the database "XYZ" is not in the SSMSE. How can I return the database "XYZ" from the DataBase Explorer of VB 2005 Express back to the Object Explorer of SQL Server Management Studio Express (SSMSE) safely? Please help and advise.

Hi,I'm tring to call a stored procedure i'v made from a DNN module, via .net control.When I try to execute this sql statement: EXEC my_proc_name 'prm_1', 'prm_2', ... the system displays this error: Could not find stored procedure ''. (including the trailings [".] chars :)I've tried to run the EXEC statement from SqlServerManagement Studio, and seems to works fine, but sometimes it displays the same error. So i've added the dbname and dbowner as prefix to my procedure name in the exec statement and then in SqlSrv ManStudio ALWAYS works, but in dnn it NEVER worked... Why? I think it could be a db permission problem but i'm not able to fix this trouble, since i'm not a db specialist and i don't know which contraint could give this problem. Also i've set to the ASPNET user the execute permissions for my procedure... nothing changes :( Shoud someone could help me? I get error that says

done. Any help so I can keep most of the hair I have left is appreciated :-)

1. Form.asp calls to rx_sp_HasAccessToClient in SQL SERVER
2. rx_sp_HasAccessToClient then calls ab_HasAccessToClient

4. rx_sp_HasAccessToClient then sends this back to the call in the Form.asp

Running the query in queryanalyser works fine and a result is given with no syntax errors. Ibelieve its something to do with the spaces in the field names. Not mychoice as its an existing system I have to work around. The time it takes to run the procedures cantake 10 - 50 seconds depending on the procedure.If I change the parameter data types to the actual data type such asvarchar(10), etc., the stored procedure takes less that a second toreturn records. The user defined types are mostly varchar, but someothers such as int. They are all input type parameters.Any ideas on why the stored procedure would run much faster if notusing user defined types?Using SQL Server 2000.Thanks,DW
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have several UDFs created. Inside one of the UDFs I need to execute a dynamic SQL statement and then take that result and do something else with it, before returning the final value.
I know you can not execute a stored proce from inside a function. I also know you can not use the EXEC statement.
I did read that you could use an external stored procedure and/or managed CLR procedures inside a function.
I have created a managed procedure CLR (C#) that simply executes a passed statemetn and returns the value to the calling routine. I have this all coded and is working fine.
However, I am struggling with knowing how to call this CLR procedure from inside my function, seeing how I can not use EXEC statement.
Any advice on how to do this?

I have created a store procedure, but the requirement is function because by using this function we need to add columns in a table with SSIS.
I have tried to create function, but the error I am facing is select statement can not return data.

I downloaded the VWD2005 recentrly, it was really agiant achievement , i appreciate the people who developed such an easy-to-learn web development package. I noticed the difference between VS2002 and VWD2005. I really liked it. (i am sorry if this speech isn't in its right place). Here i have an enquiry, I downloaded the the VWD2005, but i haven't seen the Object Explorer(SQLExpress), although it was included in the downloades?
