Will MS SQL Express Work With Windows Server 2000?
Mar 31, 2006I see it listed to work with Server 2003 but not 2000. Do I need Server 2003 for SQL Express to work correctly?

Getting Replication To Work On Windows 2003 Server X64 Environment Using SQL 2000
Feb 28, 2006I have a mobile device application using mobile sql 2005 replicating with sql 2000 in a x86 environment. This works fine!
I'm having issues getting this to work under Windows Server 2003 X64.
I've got all the components installed under the X64 environment including CLR 2.0 X64 and the mobile sql tools. the but when I run the Configure Web Synchronization Wizard I get the following error. SQL Server 2005 Mobile Edition Server Tools were not found on the IIS server. Run the SQL Server 2005 Mobile Edition Server Tools installer....
My question is: Were do I get the X64 version of these tools?

Problem Installing SQL Server 2005 Express, In Windows 2000
May 5, 2006I have downloaded SQL Server 2005 express from microsoft's site and tried to install in windows 2000 service pack 4 but having an unexpected error. The screenshot and log file is attached. Please suggest.

SQL EXPRESS Reporting Server (Access Denied - Windows 2000 Server Domain Controller)

I am receiving the following error when attempting to access reporting services... to sum things up real nice and tidy-
I get three login prompts - then the access denied response. It is almost as if it is unable to authenticate the user... anyway... here's the actual error response, I'd really appreciate any input/insight/resolution.

Problem While Installing SQL Server 2005 Express Edition On Windows 2000 PRO SP4...Can't Install!!!

I'm facing a problem while installing the SQL Server 2005 Express on Windows 2000 Pro with SP4.
After finishing the downloading from Microsoft I start the installation and things seems to go ok but during Extracting Files step a message appears "SQL Server Setup unexpectedly failed. For more information, review the setup summary log file in %Program Files%Microsoft SQL Server90Setup BootstrapLOGSummary.txt" and it terminates the installation.
I located the log file and open it but can't understand the problem..I copy the text and paste it here for anyone who can understand it.Please, it is very importand for me to work with SQL Server for my project. Any advice or information or anything else???

Can Sql 2000 And 2005 Express Work Together?
Oct 20, 2006I have a server (win server 2003) that is running Symantec Backup Exec for backups. I found that this soft uses an SQL server 2000 instance to keep his data... The problem is that I developed an application in asp.net (with VS2003) that use an SQL server 2005 express database. What I want to know is if I install SQL server 2005 express, is the backup will still work? I mean that the 2005 express wont upgrade sql 2000? What do I have to do to make it works?

SQL Express Minimum Requirements Warning On Windows 2000 Professional???
Apr 1, 2006The computers here at work run Windows 2000 5.00.2195 SP4. Everything checks out with the minimum requirements at http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/support/sqlreadme/#_3462_setup_issues_238p
However, one of the "Reports" from the installation says the machine does not meet the minimum requirements, but provides no details. It installs and I have Admin rights on this machine, but I can't even connect to the Northwind database that I downloaded.
Is this due to our logging process where the "system" is actually in another country? (ie, "CITYNAME/Username"
Any help is appreciated!

Sep 7, 2007I've just started getting this EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) on machines using Windows 2000 sp4 connecting to SQLServer. This is crashing JVMs (multiple Sun versions and BEA also) in the Java VM frame (outside our code). This has just started recently - perhaps with the last set of patches? Has anyone else seen this or know what I could do to get more information? Could this be related to updates to named pipes?

In one part there is an Access 2000 on Windows 2000 server. On the other part SQL Server 7.0 on Windows NT 4.0. And Access can't see the tables in SQL server.

Nov 24, 2006I have the following situation: A webserver in a DMZ which connects to a DbServer in a Domain.
but when I try to make a ODBC connection on the webserver I get the well-known "Server does not exist or access denied" error.
I tried using IP address as well as FQDN. I turned off the firewall in the router (I'm able to access shares and what not from the webserver so the firewall is really turned off).
I think however i have narrowed down the problem to the TCP/IP connection of the SQL Server. Normally when you try from a command prompt
"telnet dbserver 1433" you get a connection. But when I try this to the specific DbServer I get an "unable to connect" error. Even when I try it on the dbserver itself (so telnet localhost 1433). This should work always?
In the network configuration of the sql server the Named Piped as well as the TCP/IP protocols are enabled. TCP/IP is offcourse configured on port 1433.
How can I fix this problem?

I have Vista Ultimate installed and within Vista .NET Framework 3.0 is installed as a part of the operating system so I can't remove 3.0
Now for MS SQL Server 2005 Express I need .NET Framework 2.0 and the SQL Server 2005 doesn't work with .NET Framework 3.0
Can't install 2.0, get the message that 3.0 is already installed.
Is there another version of SQL Server that works with .NET Framework 3.0 and runs under Vista Ultimate?

I've read comments that the Express languages can only connect to SQL Express databases and not SQL Server 2005 databases; however, I'm not sure how that is enforced. The 'connect to database' wizard does seem to be different in the Express IDE than it is in Visual Studio.
I've read other Express language references that say that they can only connect to SQL Server databases via something called User Instances; however, it's not clear to me if that infers that only SQL Express supports User Instances.
Regarding User Instances, it's not clear to me whether this technology is for single-user (i.e., exclusive) access or not. What scenarios are User Instances good for?
Migrated From SQL 2k5 Express To SQL Server - Profile Doesn't Work
Aug 22, 2006I recently created an application that stores 3 variables in the web.config in the "Profile"configuration:

<add name="AL" defaultValue="" />
</properties>
</profile>
By doing this my web.config automatically configured itself to create a database in my app_data folder and also filled in all the table rows as necessary. Then I moved the code to my sql server running SQL Server 2005 Standard and found out that it won't generate that database in either the app_data folder or the SQL Server Data directory. I've gotten so desperate to get this database created that I've (temporarily) given "Everyone" full permissions to both directories. I then double checked that my named pipes to that server were enabled, and then also tried moving my database from my working sql express app from a different computer to the server. I still cannot get it to work.
If I have no database in the folders that worked on sql express i get this error:
"SQLExpress database file auto-creation error:
The connection string specifies a local Sql Server Express ..."
If I have a database in the folder it says it can't communicate with it or can't find it.
My web.config shows:
<add name="LocalServer" connectionString="server=SERVERNAMEWest;database=ASPNETDB.MDF;uid=UserName;pwd=Password;" PoviderName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
Is there a way to successfully generate this database with sql server? Please Help!!!
Configure SQL Server 2000 For More Than 2GB RAM On Windows 2000 Server

I've a SQL Server 2000 (SP4) installed on Windows 2000 Server.
The system has 4GB RAM.
SQL Server not using more than 2GB RAM even I set the following.
AWE enabled.
Max server Memory (MB) : 3GB
SQLService account is enabled for "Lock Pages in Memory"
Can you please help what I'm missing here?

There is no problem with Windows 98,Windows 2000 pro, Windows xp pro clients, but the windows 95 onescannot log in to the database. The log of the application shows thefollowing error:connection error -2147467259. Cannot open database requested in login'database name'. Login fails.Till a week ago the application was running on a Windows 2000 serverwith SQL 2000 install and the W95 clients had no problem connecting tothe database, so my guess is the error has something to do withWindows 2003 server, but what'causing the error?I tried to install a newer version of MDAC (MDAC 2.5, the last versionof MDAC you can install on W95)but with no success. Apr 29, 2008Hi there. I've created a windows forms app that connects to a sql server express database. now that it's working on my box, i need to install the entire solution on the end user's machine.
what's the best way to move the database? I found this article:

I'm using ms visual studio 2005 and sql server express 2005.
