SQLCE 3.5 Support For VS2005
May 30, 2007Neither the SQLManagement Studio nor Visual Studio 2005 will open a 3.5 database. I understand that it's a "Orcas" technology but it works fine with vs2005 and Framework 2.0. I'm currently using VS2005 with CE 3.5 and using Rafik's Sync services, support for 3,5 would be a great help for the XSD and query creation.
Does anyone know when broader support for 3.5 will be available?

I am developing a Windows Service product and use SQLCE 3.1 as data store, I found problem, that, when I inserted a record to sqlce data store from within service, I got an hidden window, the name is ms_sqlce_se_notify_wndproc, Could anyone has idea of how to disable this hidden window? Because my product is running as Windows Service, so this hidden window would be a serious security hole.

0x80040e21 Error Running SQLCE 2.0 On Windows Mobile 5.0 Device
May 19, 2006I have an SDF using SQLCE 2.0. When I run the app on a Pocket PC device running Windows Mobile 5.0 I get 0x80004005 and 0x80040e21 errors. The same app executes fine on PPC 2003.
The app is written in VC++ using and uses the SQLCE OLEDB Provider to access the SDF. It is complied with eVC 4.0
Any idea as to the problem?

documentation states, that Windows XP Embedded (XPe) is not supported by any SQL Server 2005 Edition (as I intend to use the Epress Edition on that platform, I post to this forum).
So, why is that? Is it just not tested or are there technical reasons for it? What are these reasons? What works and what doesn't on XPe? May XPe be supported in any later version?

Oct 12, 2007I read the online document, It seems that SSCE3.5 could support windows xp 64 bit operating system with WOW. but SSCE3.0 did not mention.
my appliaction is using SSCE3.0 on windows xp 32 bit operating system right now. I want it to be also used on windows xp 64 bit. but it seems that SSCE3.0 does not support it.
could anyone please give some suggestion? any idea and suggestion will be appreciated.

Does Windows 2003 Support Multiple Password Policies?
Sep 15, 2006We have a need to enforce a more stringent password policy for IDs that have elevated privileges or have access to sensitive data.
Can more than one policy be created in Windows Server 2003 (one that expires every 90 days and another policy that expires every 180 days and requires more complexity)? If this is possible, can SQL Server 2005 use these policies and how are SQL authenticated IDs tied to a specific policy?

What is the best pratice for keep the information update?
Run store procedure before the synch for re-populate the table?:confused: or Make Trigger INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE in the all 4 table?:confused: or a mixte?:confused:

Synchronizing Data Within SQLCE And SQL Server 2000

Problem: Synchronize the data between sqlce in pocket pc emulator and sql server 2000 in desktop computer.
Given: i have configured the IIS and while connecting the pocket pc IE to sql ce server agent..evreythings ok.
called the synchronize method.
ERROR: normally two error occurs:
native error 29045
and native error 29006
connecting with sql server reconciler failed..
any bidy can tell me what is sql server reconciler and why these error occurs...
moreover: if someone can tell me how the sql server 2000 interacts with IIS.

The application is aclient/server one. In each client computer there's a link to theapplication on the server. There is no problem with Windows 98,Windows 2000 pro, Windows xp pro clients, but the windows 95 onescannot log in to the database. The log of the application shows thefollowing error:connection error -2147467259. Cannot open database requested in login'database name'. Login fails.Till a week ago the application was running on a Windows 2000 serverwith SQL 2000 install and the W95 clients had no problem connecting tothe database, so my guess is the error has something to do withWindows 2003 server, but what'causing the error?I tried to install a newer version of MDAC (MDAC 2.5, the last versionof MDAC you can install on W95)but with no success. Feb 6, 2006I am currently upgrading our ppc app (written in .net 2003) to .net 2005 and from sqlce 2.0 to 3.0. The new application runs out memory(storage) when handling lots of data transactions (both in case of using sqlcedatareader, and dataset ). There is no memory leak issue here, sqlce 3.0 simply uses a lot more (3 times more) memory than sqlce 2.0.
Our applicaton runs fine using sqlce 2.0 and .net 2003, but fail due to memory shortage
with the upgrades(which has the same code). Anyone can shed some lights on this issue?

Yet, if you read the lifecycle policy it at the following location it states that mainstream support is for 2-5years after the release of the successor product which ever is longer.

In case they do, where do i find this official info / note.

I know it is possible to install the two together and that they can coexist, but I am worried about how the two SQL installations wil behave when being updated with patches, security updates, service packs etc. do you run the possibility of them corrupting each other? Therefor it is vital to know if Microsoft supports the two running on the same system.

Support For Execute DTS 2000 Package Task On Win 64 AMD?
Apr 26, 2006I have imported a series of SQL 2000 DTS packages to our 64bit AMD SQL 2005 server. I then created SSIS pkgs to run each SQL 2000 package using the Execute DTS 2000 package task. Then I deployed these packages to the Yukon server as well.
I can run these packages when launching them via Integration Services from Management Studio on my workstation, but when I try to run them via a SQL Job or the DTExec command on the server, I get this error. Anyone know of a workaround?

Sep 7, 2007I've just started getting this EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) on machines using Windows 2000 sp4 connecting to SQLServer. This is crashing JVMs (multiple Sun versions and BEA also) in the Java VM frame (outside our code). This has just started recently - perhaps with the last set of patches? Has anyone else seen this or know what I could do to get more information? Could this be related to updates to named pipes?

In one part there is an Access 2000 on Windows 2000 server. On the other part SQL Server 7.0 on Windows NT 4.0. And Access can't see the tables in SQL server.

I found this on an msdn website

as you can see its very lacking on detail. (I included the link and content
referring to upgrading the database files so you won't have to go to the link
to see the part referring to upgrading the database.) I tried to run the upgrade.exe on my device but it doesn't explain how you're supposed to point it to the .sdf that you are trying to update. Here is the content on the above web page.
Upgrading Database Files
You can upgrade a database created with an earlier version of SQL Server CE
2.0 to a database created with SQL Server Mobile by using the SQL Server
Mobile Database Upgrade tool (upgrade.exe). The Database Upgrade tool runs on
a smart device.
When you run the SQL Server Mobile Database Upgrade tool, the new SQL Server
Mobile database is created on the smart device. The new database, with the
file name extension .sdf, contains all the data that was in the source
database. You need to reinitialize the upgraded database to continue using it
for replication.
Note: If you are using replication or remote data access (RDA) as a
connectivity solution before upgrading to SQL Server Mobile, you must
synchronize the source SQL Server CE database (subscription database) with
the SQL Server database (Publisher). The reason for synchronizing before
upgrading to SQL Server Mobile is to ensure that any changes that exist in
the tables on the SQL Server CE database are updated on the SQL Server
database, because after the upgrade you must resubscribe or repull using the
new database.

I've just started hosting my newly created Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition web site. Unfortunately the Login group membership functions will not function correctly. Having contacted the web service hosting provider, They replied: "We do not support SQL express2005. The only way to use the extra functions of ASP.NET2 such as group membership is if it is using an SQL 2000 database to connect to. "
Is it possible to design web sites with Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition that store membership details on an SQL 2000 database?
I've just paid £88 approx. $140 for a years subscription, have I chosen the wrong web service hosting provider?
Should I have designed the web site with a better web site design software tool that also makes designing membership login functionality easy, just as Microsoft Visual Web developer 2005 express edition?
