I just upgraded from Windows XP Pro to Windows Vista Bussiness and tried to reinstall SQL Server 2005 Developers Edition. After the installation i downloaded (using microsoft windows update) and installed all the service packs for sql and vista available.
My problem is when i open sql server management studio and try to connect to my default instance using windows authentication and database engine, an 18456 error occurs.
I enabled all the protocols and all the ports
I disabled windows firewall and antivirus (eset nod32)
I installed all service packs available
I have also installed Visual Studio 2005 without installing sqlexpress
But nothing happens!
Please i am very desperate, any information will be gratefully accepted.

Apr 28, 2008Just spoke w/ our network admin and he mentioned that we use SPI, so being brand new to ASP, i did some googling and found this string:
the username and password is the account i have for the database, which is windows authentication, so i made sure the domain was in there. i am unsure of what i am doing wrong.

May 5, 2012I am not able to connect to SQL Database server using windows authentication when I am connected through VPN connection.However I am able to connect to same server using SQL server authentication and also able to do RDP to DB server machine.
I found a resolution in one of the forum suggesting to change UserRasCredentials to 0 value in *.pdk file.Since VPN connection which I am using generates instant proxy this resolution doesn't work.
Also application which I am using does windows authentication connection it is required for me to impersonate windows authetication when connected using VPN.

We have SQL server 2000 on windows 2000. From our desktop MS Access was connected to database through ODBC. Since yesterday (after our consultant had updated another asp application in the same server) we are getting €œSQL Server Error: 18452. €¦.. Login failed for user €˜(null)€™. Reason: not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. €œ
The consultant saying he did not touch any settings on server (?). And the problem is even server€™s security property shows it has mixed mode authentication. But I cannot connect to server even through my SQL server enterprise manager in windows authentication mode. I can connect if I use SQL server authentication. Through ODBC I can connect also and test fine, if I use SQL authentication. But the Access application wouldn€™t connect using SQL authentication in ODBC.
So, can any one help me to find out what else could be done to make sure that the server is going to accept windows authentication. I€™m thinking any other settings or registry change €¦ etc. Please help.

Description: In our env most logins are windows accounts. Initially we thought it is an UAC issue and we tried to launch the SSMS using "Run as Administrator". However, we are seeing login failures.
Enviroment:

Connect To Object Explorer But Cannot Connect To Integration Services.

I try to import my SSIS packages which are created using the Business Intelligent studio into SQL server 2005 but I cannot do that.
I am running SQL server 2005 enterprise edition.
Also when i tried to connect to Integration services using Object explorer, it only prompt me for server name. I cannot change the username and password which is disabled.
Then how am i supposed to connect to Integration services on a server in this case?

he can run the ssis packages and it works fine, but he cant open integration services with sql management studio.
if i am adding him to the local administrators group on the server it works, but he is not a system administrator.
how can i connect to the integratin services without been a local administrator on the server ???

Installation proceeds with no errors, but when you attempt to connect to the Integrations Services and browse to where it apparently exists, the SQL Server Managment Studio returns the following error:

Jul 15, 2015 I've made connections in SSIS to Oracle before by setting up TNS but this latest connection is different.
I've been give an SSL cert that I had to import into the Oracle Wallet Manager and to get connected in 'Oracle SQL Developer' I had to choose connectionType = advanced and drop the following line in the JDBC URL section
jdbc:oracle:oci:@(DESCRIPTION =(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCPS)(HOST = server.domain.com)(PORT = 2484))(CONNECT_DATA =(SERVICE_NAME = XXXXX)))
So my question is. How can I go about making a connection like this in SSIS?

Aug 24, 2015I "upgraded" to Windows 10 (I was installing a new c: drive anyway). Â I installed SQL Server & SSIS, Visual Studio 2012, SQL Server Data Tools 2012, etc. When I try to load up my project (.sln) in SQL Data Tools I get the following warnings/errors:

Oct 15, 2015I was able to log in to SSRS report manager. But i was unable to run a report i designed on report builder.
It prompts for login when i wanted to run the report and i used the same windows authentication to sign in
It will show me the parameters but when i click on view report it gives this error

Apr 23, 2015I have a very simply package using an Excel connection to an XLSX file. It's a straight read of the file and import onto a table.Â
The package works fine in Visual Studio 2008 development and also runs fine when executing on the (server I copied it to) under Integration Services. Â Â
However, under a SQL Agent, the package (32-bit is checked) can not acquire the connection to an excel file.  I use UNC pathing to the file. I've read other posts about similar problems and tried various scheduling options (including Owner of job).  Â
I even tried a to trigger it with a command-line which did not work:Â

Apr 20, 2015I'm having an issue connecting to an Oracle database using Visual Studio 2013 - Business Intelligence tools.I am running Windows 7 (64-bit), Visual Studio 2013, and have SQL 2012 Enterprise (64-bit) on my local machine. I downloaded the MS Connectors v2.0 for Oracle found here.  But when I try to add a new connection either through the connection manager or inserting a Data Flow Task and looking for the Oracle connections in the "Other Sources" or "Other Destinations" - neither option is available.I have the 32-bit Oracle client installed, the tnsnames.ora file has been created and I can connect to the Oracle DB through PL/SQL.I see Microsoft Connector for Oracle by Attunity 2.0 in my Programs list - installed for this file: Attunity SSISOra Adapters SetupX64.msi. don't know what else to try to get the connections available.

We a Domain A with SQL server 2008R2 say SQL-A and Domain B with SQL server 2008R2 ( SQL-B). It will be like SQL-A will always access SQL-B. Reverse is not required.
In Domain A we have a .Net Application which accesses SQL-A to perform CRUD operations which ultimately come to SQL- B since all SQL tables exist in SQL- B only.
Need to know the right way to implement Linked Server from SQL-A to SQL-B, so that Domain issues as well as DML execution work smooth.
I need not worry about DDL in SQL-A And SQL-B as it will taken care of by network and H/W team. I just need to focus on as developer.

I have an fairly data-heavy application that uses Windows authentication (Trusted connection/aspnet account) to connect to Sql Server. The site uses IIS basic authentication.
On the dev server everything works fine but when I move to the live server things get strange and it starts to crawl along. (Pages load OK but then it just crawls as it loads the datagrids etc. Sometimes it brings back incomplete/incorrect data )
BUT When I use Sql Authentication to connect to Sql Server and there is no problem at all!
Ok, there is something obviously wrong with the live server (which is identical setup to dev)but I dont know where to start.
Any ideas??
