Working Of MS SQL Server Report Builder With Faircom SQL Server
Mar 13, 2007
Hi, I am able to create reports(.rdl) using Faircom c-treeSQL Server ODBC driver which in turn connects to the Faircom SQL Server.
However I'm facing issues while creating the Report model for the report builder. I would like to know if it is possible to create report models with Faircom SQL Server?
I can use Report Builder on my server. However, when am on the client machine (logged in as myself with Admin rights) I see the Report Builder button. I click it and nothing happens. I do have the 2.0 .NET framework install on the client machine.
When I move the mouse over the button it displays the ReportServer/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder.application on the status bar at the bottom of the window.
I've tried setting the security on the server, but I've had some problems understanding exactly what I need to set and where. For example, in this http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms365173.aspx link it says, "1. Create a role assignment under Home that includes the Report Builder role. An item-level role assignment is necessary for granting access to report models."
Where exactly is Home? Is it the directory, is on the Report Manager? Do I set these role assignments on the directories in IIS? I've tried a bunch of different things, but I feel like I am grasping around in the dark.
On the server, I clicked the "Enable My Reports to support user-owned folders for publishing..." and I can see that on the client machine, but that is all I've been able to accomplish.
I've seen other posts about this, but I haven't been able to nail down this issue.
I am using SSRS 2008. I have 3 applications specific reports deployed to reporting manager..AAA , BBB and CCC - be my Applications for example.i have 3 different application users. i want to grant access the respective application users to access respective reports.i mean application user A should not be able to access/view reports from BBB and CCC. similarly for B and C application users.HOw this can be implemented ?
I have created a simple cube in BI Studio against an Oracle Relational Data Warehouse. In this cube I have created a perspective in which I have selected (included) only a small subset of measures and dimension. When I view this perspective on the Browse Tab of BI Studio, only the entities that were included in the perspective were available for report construction as was expected.
Next, I generated a model for this cube in Report Manager. Now here is the problem, I then opended the model in Report Builder and selected the same perspective from above, but all of the Entities in the cube were displayed including the fields I explicitely did not include in the perspective. I then looked at the .smdl file describing the Model and it looked like in the Perspective description section all of the cube's entities were included, even the ones that should not have been included. It seems as if the problem is ocurring durring the model generation. I also tried generating the model in Management Studio and it seems to be doing the same thing.
Any ideas on how to fix this? Could I be doing something wrong(probably)? I have to give a presentation soon and this is a big deal for the Project Stakeholders.
By the way, I am using the 180 Day Evaluation of Sql Server 2005 with SP2 CTP installed.
I want to use this as the data from which to build a report model. As linked servers don't show up in the Data Source View wizard, I created a view in SQL Server:
create view MyExcel as select * from XL_SPS_1...Sheet1$
Okay, great, now the view shows up in the DSV wizard and I can create the data source view. However, when I create a new report model based on this data source view, the Report Model Wizard tells me at "Create entities for all tables" that I've got an error when it processes dbo_MyExcel that "Table does not have a primary key."
I assume this is where the identifying attributes for the entities in the report model are taken from, so I really can't go further. Does anyone have an idea as to how to add a primary key to a linked server (Excel) in SQL 2005? Can this be done? Other than importing spreadsheet data to a SQL table, how can I get around this?
We have a remote business client who has a proxy server setup and this translates into receiving a 407 proxy authentication blocking error when attempting to download the report builder application for deployment off the report server which is housed locally with us. The proxy server does not allow them to download application type files off another site. At the moment, they would not like to disable the proxy for these users to allow them to deploy the application on their client or add the report server as a trusted site. Is there a method by which Report Builder can be locally installed on the client pc instead of online only with it knowing the correct report server to access and then still launch correctly when the report builder button is pressed through report manager?
I am not a web application guru by any means and we have tried to replicate the oneclick deployment and what occurs in the local settings/apps/2.0 subdirectories, but the application still attempts to download/install again. If we attempt to just launch the local executable on the client, report builder assumes the client pc (localhost) is the report server to access. Is there a method which will succeed?
I have client machine in one domain, say A domain , on which I have installed .net 2.0 without any problem. I have report server running in other domain (B domain) where I have deployed few models which will be used from domain A to create ad hoc reports by launching Report Builder. I can access other reports in domain B from A
But when I click on Report Builder ..it tries to connect to server in domain B but fails to connect and shows following log in a text pop up
I know, problem is because of cross domain communication but question is then how to fix it ? what changes I need to do for that in firewall, domain etc etc settings?
Here is the error, I have highlighted lines which might give some clue:

I have created a new SSRS Server and done all of the basic security setup for the site but I am having trouble with client machine access...At first I had an issue with being able to access report manager from any client and ended up having to shut off windows authentication on the client IE settings to get it to work. Now I am trying to run Report Builder from a client machine and it will not download. The client machine is on the same domain and my user id is set as an administrator within SSRS and as a local admin on the 2008 server.Â
I had the thought that without windows auth in the browser maybe it can't permit me access to the application but if I turn it on I can't get to it to download it. I have set Full Control rights to the folder as well. Most of the info out there is for 2005 and that uses IIS to host the pages where as 2008 does not. Here is the details of the error:

I am able to start Report Builder from the Reports site.
Report Builder opens but then it asks to "Select site or server", I don't see any data sources or anything, I can only enter a site or server. I tried http://crossdatabase/Reports and http://crossdatabase/ReportServer and http://crossdatabase nothing works. What's more, when I cancel and then click on the open button I get an exception:

I run the Report Builder on the server so there should be no connection problems.
I have my client in one domain and RS running server in another, both r connected through VPN. Now if I try to launch report builder on client machine by clicking link in browser (clickonce)...it tries to connect to server but fails and shows some error, saying 'Internal Server Error (500)', complete error is here :
I have a development server setup with Report Builder that our users have been testing out. They have a number of reports that they have created on this dev server.
We now have our live environment all setup and I'd like to move their Report Builder reports to the new server for them so they don't have to recreate them.
According to this article ( http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345245.aspx ), a report "/My Reports/AdventureReport1" can be opend using a URL like following: http://<ServerName>/reportserver/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder.application?/My+Reports/AdventureReport1
This works correctly in SQL SERVER SP1.
In SP2, Report Builder is still able to open the specified report. However, when you try to click €œSave As€? for the opened report in Report Builder, Report Builder will always give you a dialog without any folders, and you have no way to type in anything in the textbox/dropdown in the dialog.
We implemented Custom authentication with reporting services, everything works fine. At our client's site from one of there computer we did the following :
1- open internet explorer and access http://myserver.com/reportserver/reportbuilder/reportbuilder.application 2- the Report Builder Click once application was successfully downloaded onto the clients computer. 3- client was prompted to enter username and password. Client was able to see the report model and create, save reports to the reportserver. 4- close the report builder and try to access report via http://myserver.com/reportserver/reportbuilder/reportbuilder.application, this time the report builder launches but there is no prompt for username and password, instead it's asking to select a reportserver. 5 - tried selecting http://myserver.com/reportserver, there is not popup to enter username and password and we get the error message "unable to connect to server at http://myserver.com/reportserver , enter a different URL and Try again.
.NET framework 2.0 is installed on the client's machine. Our client can access http://myserver.com/reportserver/ from internet explorer.
Our client machine is behind a proxy server . Could this be caused by the proxy server. Why is report builder not prompting for credentials when launched. It only prompts for credentials the first time (installation). Any idea or anyone encountered this issue. we need a fix, because our client cannot access the report builder...
Can someone verify that Report Builder is included in SQL Server 2005 Standard edition?
I have a book that says it's only included in Enterprise edition, but the following chart says it is included in Standard: http://www.microsoft.com/sql/prodinfo/features/compare-features.mspx
Can any body please explain that "how does the Report Builder application communicates with the reporting server". Does it use web service for that, or does it connect to it directly ? If it use webservice then where is it situated and what is it's name. Please explain a bit ?
I am trying to call a stored procedure into report builder. The stored procedure has 2 parameters. When I run the report with allowing nulls and blank value in the parameters it works fine, but when I enter a value in a parameter it ignores the where clause I had in the original query(stored procedure) and displays everything.
I am building reports based on Report Builder and SQL server 2014.
Our report data are hosted on azure sql database.
Date time on azure are stored as UTC.
When I run my report locally, how can I format correctly the date/time format on my report in order that if I am in French, I should have the date/time set to UTC + French offset. How can I do this ?
I have SQL Server 2012 SP2 x64 Express Advanced Services installed on Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.
I cannot find the Report Builder download link for SQL Server 2012 SP2 x64 Express Advanced Services on Windows 10 Pro.
Shouldn't the Report Builder link be for SQL Server 2012 SP2 and x64 bit in order to work with SQL Server 2012 SP2 x64 Express Advanced Services on Windows 10 Pro 64 bit?The only Report Builder 3.0 links I have found have been x86 (32 bit) and SP1.
Any time you try to run a report now it crashes trying to create or find a temp file in a wierd path... exception is below... this happens for any request to the report server at all! all we changed was we removed a drive that was no longer used on the server! This path doesnt even exist! any idea where this path is stored or how to fix it? thanks!

I have a column in SQL server which is of type ntext. Selecting the specific column to view it in report builder, an error message appears with the following description:

Report Builder recognises this as if it was an image...

I have faircom ODBC plus drivers (32 bit) v3.12 for CTree which I'm trying to use to link a server in SQL 2005 64 bit, I get a connection error and can't make it work, is there a way to link a server using 32 bit ODBC drivers in a w2k3/SQL2k5 64 bit combo or do I have to go back to 32 bit all the way? it seems Faircom doesn't have 64 bit ODBC driver. Any help really appreciated. Javier
I just created a report builder. I have a main report and i wanted to create a sub report. why i cant or i cant view the path or the folder of my .rdl file to be use as my sub report.
After I use the report builder to create a generic report, how do I actually get that report into the report designer so that I can modify it more effectivly?
The issue that I have now is that the file on the report server is not a .rdl file and if I simply save it as one and then bring it into VS to modify it the code file is a html structure rater than a XML file type.
I have installed SQL Server Reporting Service on window xp. everything working fine except one thing.
I have installed sql server with my a/c. my a/c have admin rights. when i giving http://dineshpatel/reports it is displaying page but Report Builder and other option are not displaying. I hope i don't have admin rights.
I have checked with local administrator login also but same problem.
what additional setting are require for admin rights?
I have a report builder drill down report. I have row groups with totals.   It looks like the attached.  The problem is when the report is not expanded the Grand Totals column is not accurate... it is displaying the totals of one of the rows when expanded. The expression in the Total Show text box is
= Switch (                                    MID(Fields!protocol_id.Value,1,7)="THERAPY",                                Sum(IIF(Fields!status.Value = "CO", CDbl(Fields!TX_CO.Value),      Nothing)),  MID(Fields!protocol_id.Value,1,7) = "GENERAL" and                          MID(Fields!program_id.Value,1,6) = "INTAKE",                             Sum(IIF(Fields!status.Value = "CO",
[code]...
Is there any way to not display the expression in the Total columns unless the report is expanded?
I added a new windows user "ReportUser" which is a local user (not in administrator group). When I connect to the report manage's web page, I use reportuser to log in (when the anonymous access is disabled it will ask a log in). Report builder icon is not showing up on the report manager home page.
If I log in as a user in administrator group, the reportr builder icon shows up so I can download it and build report.
I have assigned reportuser "Content manager" and "repoter builder" access to the home folder. Is there anything else I have to do to make the report build icon show up on the home page?
