Recently converted from 7 to sql 2k.
Running NT 4.0, sp6a. and sql 2k. I have a DTS job that works just fine if i go to 'design view' and then 'execute' it. But if I schedule it, the following error appears.. My question is... why? What I am trying to do is very simple. I just want to run 2 stored procedures, then have the output from both sp's written to a single file.
I created a Data Flow task, then put 2 OLE DB Source adapters in the Data Flow task, one for each stored procedure.
Next, I dropped a Flat File destination object onto the page. However, I can only connect ONE arrow from one of the OLE DB Source adapters to the Flat File destination. It won't let me connect both.
What am I doing wrong here? How can I accomplish what I am trying to do here?

I have a sp which saves the necessary information regarding the status of action(whether success or failure, rows affected etc) to a log table say( StatusLog )After this, I was sending a database mail with information taken from the log table via sp_send_dbmail. I need to write the content of the column to a file, using sp_OAWrite for example, but the stored procedure who needs to read the content and write it to the file does not work because the limitation is no local variable for those types. What use is that datatype if i can not use it in procedures like this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was trying to write a custom legend text for a chart that I have in SSRS. In the chart I have a Bar chart and a Line chart. I have two values coming from a dataset. One is a running value. All the series values are from year dataset.
I need to get a custom legend text for the three data series looking like this. "2013- Mth", "2014-Mth". Year should be dynamic and coming from the dataset.
I tried writing an expression in the series legend option as shown below.
But I don't get the required text for the chart. I only get the default series text for the legend. If I only write a text without the dynamic year taken from the dataset columns I get the custom text. But not when I concatenate the dynamic year series with the static text. Any property to enable/disable?

I tried modifying it and playing around with the TranslateTranform function but I'm really confused on how it works. I can get the first letter in my text to be upside down but the rest is not showing up. It's like it's being cut off or something. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I want to check a table to see what rows have been updated today, then write to a text file some data from the selected rows; then I want to automate this (DTS package? TSQL stored procedure job?) to run every night at midnight. Is the DTS Wizard the best way, that's what I did, but have not confirmed that it is writing a new text file every day, and does each new version write over the old one?

I need to be able to send that string to the results window where table output goes, rather than to the message window where a PRINT statement goes.
How do I do that?
Is there a better way to do this?
We've all seen this, where it uses an individual .write statement for each column.

But hard coding this seems not the smartest way. Especially since in my text file, there needs to be close to 100 columns. This could be a nightmare to update down the road. But I can't seem to find the object collection to loop through, like row.items which would seem to be logical.
There's gotta be a better way, right Microsoft?
I have created a trigger to call a program that is written by our program. The program is basically read the record in the table and write to a text file, then delete the record from the table.
The trigger is a after insert trigger. After we added the trigger, we insert a record to the table. The result is that the record still and did not get deleted. Also, the text file didn't get created either. It seems that it take a long time for the record to be written to the table.
But if we just run the program (a exe file), it can write a text file in the folder and delete the record. the trigger is basically:

View 4 Replies View RelatedHi,Question: Why is INSERT of a string having 8000+ characters causing truncation in a TEXT field?We are working on a website for a client, and one of their CMS-driven pages contains more than 8000 chars for its content. The database field was originally TEXT datatype at the default size, but the content was getting truncated upon INSERT. So I looked into why this was happening, tried many things including: 1. Executing: EXEC sp_tableoption 'section', 'text in row', '7000'2. Changing datatype from TEXT to VARCHAR(8000). (of course this truncated at 8000).And this truncation still occurring. This is happening on SQL Server 2000 installed and configured on our client's server. The servers we host don't have this problem, and we have even tested the INSERT on our server and it does not truncate. So why is it truncating only on our client's Sql Server? Is there some kind of default configuration setting that limits the allowable length?I'm not intimately familiar with the large BLOB datatypes, and haven't really needed to deal with this issue before now. Now the client is upset about the limitation and does not wish to copy edit the content for their webpage. This is an urgent matter. I need to figure out the problem within a few hours today (it is morning in Europe on Tuesday 14 mar 2006 right now). Thanks in advance.UPDATE: I HAVE RESOLVED THE ISSUE. I am not able to open the package in BIDS. When I open the package I am seeing only the XML. Below I had given what I have done.
First I have installed Visual studio 2008 Professional and next I installed SQL Server 2005 with Integration services, database services, workflow components.
I am able to see the BIDS in Start --> All Programes --> Microsoft SQL Server 2005 --> "SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio"
Any help would be appreciated.

I am facing problem in printing the reports from browser and also when i export it to pdf,the problem i am facing is blank pages are coming when report column getting the large amount of text around 2500 characters into column value.
can any one help me in this issue?. if the report is getting acceptable amout of data it is printing in proper way i.e no balnk pages at all.i maintained all properties like margins+body size < page size.

I tried to backup the master key by the following syntax :
OPEN MASTER KEY DECRYPTION BY PASSWORD = 'mypassword'
BACKUP MASTER KEY TO FILE = 'c: empmaster' ENCRYPTION BY PASSWORD = 'mypassword'
but it failed and i got the following message:
Cannot write into file 'c: empmaster'. Verify that you have write permissions, that the file path is valid, and that the file does not already exist.
NB: I am using the "sa" user to execute this command.
I know that we have a security permission issue , but where and how ?

We use windows NT authentication. We did not do any change on NT. The SQL Server daily schedule job usally stoped at 10:00AM, but today from the Window NT Task Manager, we can see that the SQL Server is still running untill now.

hi, I have settup up sql mail and did the following:
1. created an E-mail account and configured Out look by creating a pop3 mail profile. tested it by sending and receiving mail, that is ook
2. I Created one domain account for MSsqlserver and Sql Agent service. both services use same account and start automatically in the control panel-services
3. I used the profile that I created in outlook to test the sql mail but got an error:
Error 22030 : A MAPI error ( error number:273) occurred: MapiLogon Ex Failed due to MAPI
Error 273: MAPI Logon Failed
I really do not know what went wrong. I followed the steps from bol and still having a problem. Am I missing something.
I do have a valid email account
I do have a valid domain account
I tested outlook using the email account and it worked. so why sql server does not recognise MAPI.
My next question, How to configure MAPI in Sql server if what I did was wrong.
Hi, I have 2 windows 2000 server in cluster with sql server 2000 enterprise edition installed.
I have activated the Server-Requested Encryption by using the sql server network utility (Force Protocol Encryption). After this, I have stoped sql server service. But I can't start it at this moment.
The error is:
19015: The encrypton is required but no available certificat has been found.
Please help me to start sql server.

I am facing a huge problem in my sql server database using access as a front end.The main problem is trying to execute queries "views" ,since they reside on sql server now,and using variables or parameters in reports and forms to filter on this query.
