Iam trying to crate a job, that writes the result set on text file and export to location like "abcxyz.txt"
job succeeds but i cant see any thing written on the file and i have given the same path in the job path option.
Problem: I need to export data from a table in a database. I have an SSIS that converts data to this table. To export the data using the SSIS the file needs to be already created (from my understanding). This export location is on another server and the folder location is empty.
Question: How do I create an empty CSV file at this location using either a Script Task, SQL Query, or Space Magic? I have been searching all over for about 4 hours now to no avail.
Hey everyone I've got this question that has me stuck for the last few days but its an important part of my website.....What I am trying to do is basicly have a user be able to upload a file, have that uploaded file plus some other info automaticly display on other parts of my site, and have a different user eventually be able to download that file....I have thought about allowing the file upload as a BLOB but still cannot find a proper way to execute this using VB, plus I have heard that this way of doing it is not reccommeneded cause databases were not designed to store large files like this, lots of articles recommened having the file upload to a Folder on your server then get the binary data for the file that can be placed in a database to refrence that particular file.....Well this also proves to be a lot harder then said here is what I got so far (written in C#) protected void UploadBtn_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)

Now from what I know is I need to get the binary of the file which I have read you can do with the Page.Request.Files statement but again not sure how I would impliment this. Does anyone have any suggestions on which way I should take when dealing with this should I try and just use the BLOB method or use the binary refrence method? and if so how would I impliment this, heck even some good tutorials on the subject would be great... View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Foreach loop which scans a table, and gets names of a bunch of procedures, and then back in the foreach loop, they get executed. Im trying to figure out how I can create a sort of log file to say the name of the procedure that is getting executed currently and the current date time stamp onto a flat file. I havent been able to figure this out yet..anyone know how to do this? I grab the names of the storedprocedures from the table and store it in a variable and use the name from the variable to actually execute the stored procedure.
I guess in essence, the question is how do i directly write lines of 'text' (from say a variable) into a flat file.

I am trying to create a text file from multiple SQL Tables using @BCP_Command. I tried using DTS and SQL but the number of columns in the tables have to be the same size when doing a union. I also not to place a delimeter between each column. I've learned how to use BCP_commands on one file not sure if you can make it work with two or more.

Want to write from a table variable to a text file from a stored procedure.Read about xp_cmdshell bcp etc. but worried because it's supposed to be a security problem and needs to be from a permanent database.Also am getting error "The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object 'xp_cmdshell'..."
1. Is xp_cmdshell a bad idea to use even if I get permissions ?
2. Can a "permanent" table be used in a stored procedure starting out fresh each time with 0 rows rather than use a table variable ?

I am trying to export data from a query in SQL Server 2005 SSIS to a flat file destination. Everything works fine except the rows returned from my query are written to the flat file in one long string (i.e., without line breaks). I have tried appending a new line character to the rows returned from the query but that only throws an error when the package is executed. My rows returned from the query are 133 characters wide (essentially only one column per row) so I have set the properties accordingly for a fixed width file format with 133 character wide rows.
Any suggestions or ideas on how to correct this would be greatly appreciated.

In the Control flow tab, I have an Execute SQL Task that outputs full Result set into a variable of an object type. Now how can I write the contents of the Full Result Set into a text file using Script Task. I also want to format the following way while I output into a file:
Column Name 1 : Column Value
Column Name 2: Column Value and so on
I tried writing the contents of the Object Variable into a file, but the file had an output of single word: System.__ComObject.

I am using Microsoft SQL 2005, I need to do a BULK INSERT from a .csv I just downloaded from paypal. I can't edit some of the columns that are given in the report. I am trying to load specific columns from the file.

So where would I state what column names (from row #1 on the .csv file) would be used into what specific column in the table.
I saw this on one of the sites which seemed to guide me towards the answer, but I failed.. here you go, it might help you:

I am running a SQL job that append the result set every 15 minutes on a same text file.
But it also brings lot of information on the text file like JOb lOg info and time stamps.
I only need to see the pure data i am querying how to fix it.
Using SQL 2005. Need to create fixed lenght text file from table. Was able to create the file, but all the data was in one big line. Selected fixed length with field names. How can I get my text file to have field names, fixed lenght with each record on it's only line. Thank you. David

I am trying to export a text file to a table using enterprise manager
and all tasks
But the process keeps adding strange charater like squares at the end
of each line and also replaces each empty line in the text file with a record in the table with that square type character. I used the following code to delete all rows with that character (as a work around) but no joy. I am losing hope.

I got this code from another one of the MSDN forms. When I run the report and try to export using this format, it still gives me a csv file instead of tab delimited file.
Can someone please help me fix this code so I can get tab delimited text files.

I am trying to export a table to a fixed lenght text file, there is only flat file option and that does not put LF/CR at the end of row, is there any solution?
When using DTS (in SQL 7) to export via OLE DB a large varchar to a text file, it clips it at 255 chars.
No other data access drivers seem to work, either. This is lame! I cannot use bcp as a work
around, because i want to use quoted comma-delimited, which it doesn't support, and I
am using query-based export, where the query calls a stored proc, which bcp also doesn't
support.
Are there any new versions of MDAC that fix this? Anyone know a workaround? My current hack fix
is to split my field into 2, but this is a grubby fix that hassles my reciptients.
This is a pretty fundamental limitation to a major product!

I need to export data from a table to a text file, where the data in the table is deleted after written to the file. It is simple using DTS, but I want to do the export in "chunks" of data, committing the delete say after every 1000 rows.
My thought was a stored procedure would be easy enough to do this (done these in Oracle many times), but I don't know the quickest way to export a row of data from a stored procedure to a text file. Isn't using a command-line shell too slow? What are my options?

Dear MSSQL- experts,I have a strange problem with SQLSERVER 2000.I tried to export a table of about 40000 lines into a text file usingthe Enterprise managerexport assitant.
