X-Axis Scalar Mode Based On DateTime Field - Not Working
Mar 8, 2007
I have a chart showing quantity against time. I had been using X-Axis in category mode, but wanted to include all dates, so changed it to Scalar mode by checking "Numeric or time-scale values".
However instead of displaying dates it simply shows integers, and to make things worse, Y-axis values have all come out as zero. It appears that the integer values are simply sequential values for each datapoint (i.e. 1,2,3,4 etc).
The category field for the X-Axis is a field called "Date" which comes from a Date Type field in the cube based on a datetime column in the DSV. The properties of the category in the chart are : Group On =Fields!Date.Value and Label =Fields!Date.Value.
I am trying to match records that are >= the current date. I have tried using: SELECT DISTINCT name FROM table WHERE datefield >= DATEPART(month, GETDATE()) AND datefield >= DATEPART(day, GETDATE()) AND datefield >= DATEPART(year, GETDATE()) ORDER BY name but this is not giving me the result that I am looking for. What is the best way to match a DateTime field type using the current date without the time?
Is there a way to adjust a date and time depending on the users locale before inserting into the database?
Users login in and their country of residence is stored in the database on signup. My server is in the US and I want to reset part of the users db record when it's the end of the day in their country so I need to enter the date and time into the db plus or minus the time difference, is there a function written to do this already or would i need to write my own?
The values on X-axis are scaled from -100 to +100. I want to colour the band from -100 to 0 with red colour and that from 0 to +100 in green colour, and i want to provide legend for these bands/sections. How can i do this?
Hello, I need to know what means are available to change the Minimum and Maximum Y-Axis scale values rather than leave them simply as they are in the properties. Right now whatever min/max values I enter into the scale for the Y-Axis are unchangeable. I need to be able to change the min/max scale values based on the value of the data at run time.
Question (X-axis): How does automatic x-axis label positioning work? Answer: Currently, built-in Reporting Services charts only allow automatic positioning in order to avoid overlapping the x-axis labels. The label direction (horizontal/vertical) of the axis labels depends on the label string sizes and the available space. X-axis labels are either shown horizontally in one line, horizontally in multiple lines with line breaks, or vertically. Showing x-axis labels at an angle, or explicit manual control over individual x-axis label positions is currently not supported.
Note There are several third-party chart add-ins that enable more control over axis labels. These add-ins can be installed on top of Reporting Services 2005.
I have exactly the problem indicated above in that some sectors of my Pie Charts I am are trying to produce are small and are close together thus labels overlap in some cases. As it says above, only automatic placing of the labels is available, but there could be a solution through third party software.
Does anyone know of a 3rd party solution/add in or a workaround?
I have a simple-column chart and in the x-axis I put the date values and in the y-axis the sale price values.
The chart works perfectly in the case when there is only one sale price for the same date. But, when the price changes during the same day, then there is problem. In the following example
x y
1/1/2007 6.25
2/1/2007 7
2/1/2007 4
3/1/2007 8
the chart will have three columns and in the date 2/1/2007 will display the min or max of the two values. What I need is to represent all the values i.e. the chart must have four columns , as much as the rows of the dataset
Hi all, having a little problem with saving dates to sql databaseI've got the CreatedOn field in the table set to datetime type, but every time i try and run it i get an error kicked up Error "The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value. The statement has been terminated."I've tried researching it but not been able to find something similar. Heres the code: DateTime createOn = DateTime. Now;string sSQLStatement = "INSERT INTO Index (Name, Description, Creator,CreatedOn) values ('" + name + "','" + description + "','" + userName + "','" + createOn + "')"; Any help would be much appreciated
When creating a table in design mode, there is no option to set the field as UTC datetime.
Is the logical work around to issue an ALTER TABLE statement and how would this look? That is, how would the ALTER statement look to include constraints:
ALTER TABLE [dbo].[My_Table]( ??? DROP CONSTRAINTS HERE ???
[Item_ID] [smallint] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,
[Started] [datetime] NOT NULL CONSTRAINT [DF_CL_Items_Started] DEFAULT (GETUTCDATE()),
I am trying to drag data from Informix to Sql Server. When I kick off the package using an OLE DB Source and a SQL Server Destination, I get DT_DBDATE to DT_DBTIMESTAMP errors on two fields from Informix which are date data ....no timestamp part
I tried a couple of things:
Created a view of the Informix table where I cast the date fields as datetime year to fraction(5), which failed.
Altered the view to convert the date fields to char(10) with the hopes that SQL Server would implicitly cast them as datetime but it failed.
I have a table called BidItem which has another table calledBidAddendum related to it by foreign key. I have another table calledBidFolder which is related to both BidItem and BidAddendum, based on acolumn called RefId and one called Type, i.e. type 1 is a relationshipto BidItem and type 2 is a relationship to BidAddendum. Is there any way to specify a foreign key that will allow for thedifferent types indicating which table the relationship should existon? Or do I have to have two separate tables with identical columns(and remove the type column) ?? I would prefer not to have multipleidentical tables.
I know there has to be a way to do this, but I've gone brain dead. Thescenario..a varchar field in a table contains a date range (i.e. June 1,2004 - June 15, 2004 or September 1, 2004 - September 30, 2004 or...). Theusers have decided thats a bad way to do this (!) so they want to split thatfield into two new fields. Everything before the space/dash ( -) goes intoa 'FromDate' field, everything after the dash/space goes into the 'ToDate'field. I've played around with STRING commands, but haven't stumbled on ityet. Any help at all would be appreciated! DTS?
Hello, I have a configuration where my SharePoint services are running on a web machine and the SQL server reporting services are running on a different machine. I installed SQL SP2 and the SQL Server Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint by following all the instructions listed in €œConfiguring Reporting Services for SharePoint 3.0 Integration€? (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb326356.aspx). My issue is that when I Deploy a report from a VS Report Server project by running Visual Studio on the machine where reporting servicers is running, everything works fine. But if I try the same thing on any other machine on the network, I get a €œThe file you are attempting to save or retrieve has been blocked from this Web site by the server administrators.€? message.
I€™m sure I€™m missing something on the configuration but I can€™t tell what.
i have created an report which retrieve data from table which contains a datetime field. The data of that particular field is stored in UTC time. when i navigating the report from sharepoint site i wish the datetime field will be converted into local time based on the selected timezone of the user.
Well, I have SQL Server 2005 SP2 Reporting Services installed and configured in sharepoint integrated mode, so I am deploying reports in sharepoint libraries. Also I configured sharepoint to use forms authentication with builtin AspNetSqlMembership provider, but after this action I couldnot open reports through sharepoint library, instead of this, error was displayed mentioned below. I searched and found hotfix Cumulative Update 3 build 3186 for this issue, request it from microsoft support and applied it, but nothing has changed!
Error I have been experiencing is following:
An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode. --> The request failed with the error message: -- <html><head><title>Object moved</title></head><body> <h2>Object moved to <a href="/_layouts/login.aspx?ReturnUrl= %2f_vti_bin %2fReportServer%2fReportService2006.asmx">here</a>.</h2> </body></html>
I continued to dig and find out that this hotfix should update Microsoft.ReportingServices.SharePoint.UI.WebParts.dll from version 9.0.3042.0 to new version 9.0.3180.0, but when I checked file version after applying hotfix, it remained the same as was before i.e. 9.0.3042.0. Apparently this cumulative update does not fix this issue. anyone has any idea how to solve it? Thanks in advance.
I have two tables (one-to-many relation) related thru a common key. I have setup the Relation using the Database Designer. The Form is populated using Drag-and-drop which automatically adds the BindingSource, TableAdapter, and Binding Navigator. The Relation works great in the change mode, and life is good.
In the Add mode the field setup with the Foreign Key is not automatically populated as it is in Change mode. The field can be updated manually, but that defeats the purpose of setting up the Relation.
Any ideas how to fix this?
I know this is difficult to visualize without seeing it.
I'm trying to convert an old chart to Reporting Services. We have used the same dataset for years, it is very very simple. But it seems to me that Reporting Services can't deal with this simple dataset.
My question is: How can I get create a line chart using this dataset.
The data set consists of 1 row with 96 columns (a day divided into 96 sets of 15 minutes). Each column records how many events occurs within the 15 minutes. Along the x axis I would like to display a vertical line every 4 hours. The y axis should be numbered 0 to the highest value in the results.
I could not make this dataset any more simple than it is. But Reporting Services just chokes on this.
Here is a sample of the dataset : 1 2 0 4 5 6 7 8 9 10... 96
I'm new to SQL Server and relatively new to database design and I have a specific problem I'm trying to resolve. I have a collection of records in a table (let's call them 'tasks') which represent some list of things that needs to be completed. Each task has an associated datetime on which this action is to commence, and my applications is responsible for executing these tasks. My first instinct is to regularly poll the 'tasks' table to determine if there are any tasks which have not been processed and are past their schedule start datetime. But, I'm wondering if there is some sort of database feature that would recognize that a task's starttime has arrived, and could somehow communicate this to my application without my application having to constantly poll the database. Thanks.
hi HHello!, the following 3 webmethods still work after i switched them to WCF but now it never accepts my parameters. i didn't change anything in reporting services, but i have a feeling it's not sending the params to the service anymore.
is there an operation contract attribute change i need to make to require the datetime be provided by RS? here's the schema provided by my serviec wsdl (the relevant portion)
I need to select certain rows based on a "datetime" column. I need to select rows from 8am yesterday until 8am today. In Oracle I would use: select * from foo where TIMESTAMP >= trunc(sysdate - 1) + 8/24 AND TIMESTAMP < trunc(sysdate) + 8/24. This would start at 8am yesterday and end at 7:59am today.
I have a table that, among other columns, has two datetime columns which indicate the initial and the final time. This would be an exemple of data in this table:
row1:
initial_time: 2006-05-24 8:00:00
final_time: 2006-05-24 8:30:00
row2:
initial_time: 2006-05-24 8:35:00
final_time: 2006-05-24 9:15:00
I would like to split a row in two new rows if final time's hour is different of initial time's hour, so I would like to split row2 into:
row2_a:
initial_time: 2006-05-24 8:35:00
initial_time: 2006-05-24 8:59:59
row2_b:
initial_time: 2006-05-24 9:00:00
initial_time: 2006-05-24 9:15:00
Is it possible to do it in a query, I mean, without using procedures?
I am currently working with 3 multi-valued parameters whose data sources are queries. The first 2 are required to have entries, 100% of the time, but the third one may or may not require selecting a value. Parm3's data source is filtered by the selections of Parm1 & Parm2. The data source for my report references Parm3 in a derived table that is then LEFT OUTER JOINed.
In the cases where the report does not require any selection from Parm3 I am still required to pick at least 1 entry. Can anyone shed some light on this, or provide a solution so I am not forced to pick any if I don't want?
I deployed my application to my newly installed xp pro laptop
The prerequisites are installed
Now that I want to testdrive my database application I get this error:
An attempt to attach an auto-named database file c:/program files........................MyDB.mdf failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file can not be opened, or it is located on UNC share.
Hi People, hope someone can help me out here with a little problem. Basically i've go a asp.net page which has a listbox on. This list box is populated from a SQL database table with the datetime of the a selected field. Thus in the list box you get a list of strings looking like this "24/09/07 12:58" Also on the page is a submit button, and some other editing textboxes. The main issue here is the when the submit button is used i get the currently selected listbox timedate string and then pass this along with other items to update a record in the database based on the datetime in the listbox control.
Below is how i get the string from the listbox control Dim except_time As DateTime except_time = DropDownList1.SelectedValue The expect_time is then passed to store procedure along with some other vars, which looks like this -- =============================================-- Author: Lee Trueman-- Create date: 1st Sept 2007-- =============================================CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[spExcept_UpdateData] -- Add the parameters for the stored procedure here @validated bit, @update_time datetime, @except_time datetimeASBEGIN -- SET NOCOUNT ON added to prevent extra result sets from -- interfering with SELECT statements. SET NOCOUNT ON -- Insert statements for procedure here UPDATE exceptions SET validated = @validated, update_time = @update_time WHERE (except_time = @except_time)END So validated and update_time should be updated when except_time is equal to @except_time
My problem is that the database never updates. If i debug the asp.net page the watch var shows the datetime in US format (I.e "09/24/07 12:58"), if this is true then this would explain why when it is passed to the stored proc nothing gets updated, as there would not be a date match. can anyone see any silly mistakes i'm doing here ????
I'm trying to query data from a database for a report that looks for the last 2 weeks starting at 10pm, taking a value once every 24 hours. Using
AND DateTime >= DateAdd(wk,-2,GETDATE())
AND DateTime <= GetDate()") I easily get the last two weeks but the query obviously only grabs the data at the time the query runs. I need to be able to run it any time of the day but only grab the data at 10pm. I'm very new at this so please excuse my ignorance but I could really use some help with this. Thanks very much.
I have a statement that works in compatibility mode 8 of SQL Server2000 while it fails in 7:declare @P3 intexec sp_prepexec @P3 output, N'@P1 float', N'select custname fromcustomer where custnr = @P1', 12600034custnr is a varchar(15). As long as the float p1 is less than1,000,000 the query returns correct results, but as soon as p1 isequal or greater than 1,000,000 the resultset is empty. I couldfigure, that above 1 million, sp_exec converts the float intoexponential format and compares this format to the string containingfixed format values. As said above, in mode 8 the statement returnscorrect results above 1,000,000.Please don't ask me, why we use float variables - I don't have anyinfluence on the statement - we isolated the statement with theprofiler. We are also currently dependent on the compatibility mode 7.I would be very grateful if you have any ideas, help or other issuesfor me.Thank you,Peter
I'm trying to create a website based on interesting historical facts, Searchable by date. I need each fact entry to have a datetime field in the database, but unfortunately this method only lets me go as far back as the year 1753 (for an inexplicable reason, I can go up to the year 9999).Is there something I'm overlooking here, or did Microsoft goof this one? Will I have to store my dates as 3 separate custom month/day/year fields? If anybody has a solution for this, please let me know (a B.C./A.D enabled solution isn't at all needed, but I'm open to that too).
I've recently discovered the MS CRM 3.0 stamps any datetime field in SQL as UTC (aka GMT). Even though the end user may select 12:00 noon on the CRM gui interface, the datetime is stamped in SQL as 16:00 (I'm in EST).
So, is there an easy way to read the 16:00 back to local EST, taking into account daylightsavings (DST)? Apparently in VB or C# this conversion is a trivial matter of using ToLocalTime(), but I don't believe SQL 2005 has such a convenient function.
I'm currently building a SQL view that I wish to use to support multiple reports, and it would be ideal for the view to translate the UTC datetime fields (even if via a user-defined function) to EST rather than coding every report or custom app to translate the UTC.
Any suggestions or links to code will be greatly appreciated!
