XML - Multiple Base For Derived Type Is Not Suppor

Hi,
Very basic beginner XML question. Is it possible to have an attribute name repeated in a schema ? I received an XML and XSD file for which I'm getting the error "multiple base for derived type on dte_effective is not supported." "dte_effective" is repeated under several elements. Is there a way to resolve this error by adding something to the schema to indicate that the date is specific to each element ? Can't figure this one out. I've googled the error and found nothing to resolve this.

how to declare multiple derived columns in SSIS Derived Column Task in one attempt.as i have around 150 columns coming from Flat file. I had created the required Expression in Excel and now i want add those in derived column task but its allowing only 1 expression at a time.
Does anyone know how to determine the base datatype of a column? I've tried using sp_columns but if there are user defined datatypes on the column it returns that name instead of the base datatype. I've also tries accessing systypes and syscolumns to determine the base datatypes.
I have a Derived Column, called Column1, which has a value "PS" in the Expression field of the editor. SSIS detects it as a Unicode string[DT WSTR] in the Data Type property. In the source table, the column is a char datatype with the lenght of 4. How should I cast this in the expression field, so its converted to char(4). I would need the syntax for it, so I can use it in my Expression area. By the way, i am setting a constant value for this derived column, so in your example, pls use the value instead of column name. I would like to see, how it would be coded?? And also, is there a reference for the expression language somewhere for newbies??? thanks a bunch.
OK here's my question. I want to retrieve from my database employee table all those employees with the name eg. Smith and display them in a list. Can anyone give me any pointers please. I'm using VB 2005 Express Edition. So far this is what I have but it only seems to return 1 row when I know there are more than one entries with the name I am inputting

I have read that I need to add an instead of trigger. I have no idea how to do this. I am basicaly trying to update at the moment but will also need to insert later. I am Using Derived column between Source and Destination Control. the Source input column PriceTime is String Data type. but in the Destination is should be a DATE TIME column. How to Convert this string to DateTime in the Derivied Column Control.

View or function 'MutualFund' is not updatable because the modification affects multiple base tables.

create multiple INNER JOIN on derived tables as I have written below or use a #temp table for all derived tables and use them into JOIN. This below query is also very hard to understand what is going on .
I need to get the object type (view, table ...etc) for a synonym base object inside a script. The only place where I see something related to this stored is in column "base_object_name" in sys.synonyms but there I can see only the same with format [database].[user/schema].[name]. After some testing playing with different users without specifying database/schema I think that maybe the object_id must be stored in a another place, my first idea was parent_object_id in sys.synonyms but it isn't stored there.
know if object_id for the base object is stored in any other place ?
Is it possible to perform a SELECT/INSERT statement with two different connection types? I want to do the "SELECT" statement with data from SQL Server and "INSERT" it into an Access database all in one query.
I have a column that has 50 records and they are INT. I am trying to place them into a single parameter using the CHARINDEX using the IF Statement. I got an error saying convertinh from varchar to int type data.
Basically, this is what I did: @RoomID varchar(max)
Then I declare it:
DECLARE @RoomId varchar(4)
SET @RoomID = 0
The IF part that I need to express this CHARINDEX function.
Then in Where clause I filtered it as: WHERE r.roomid = @RoomId
Or what other way to handle INT data type and make them available for user to choose multiple value?
I am trying to create 2 tables, one (Table 1) having:
Id DateCreated DateUpdated RequestType RequestTypeId StatusType StatusTypeIsClosed
The other (Table 2) with:
Id DateCreated Key Value
Ultimately, these 2 table will be joined on Id. Here is the SQL, Table 1 creates properly, and Table 2 creates, but right now 'Id' comes in as NULL. How do I add the Id field from the upper node into Table 2 (excuse my terminology if it is incorrect) ?

I make my login account data base using the Web Site Administration Tool in the solution explorer i then debug it on my computer and it works fine i can login then i upload my site and sql data base to server and it no longer works i just get this message what do i do can i change the Web Site Administration Tool so that it uses a access data base by default for login instead of sql.Server Error in '/KRAZYJON' Application.

We have a client with our data base, but this database is undergoing constant changes since the development has not been finished, for that reason whenever we made an update we must synchronize the data base. I wondering if exists a tool in which setup can be created and updates the data base in SQL.
I want to transfer (Export or Import) my Database TEST1 to TEST2. To do so I execute the following steps : - Create an empty Database TEST2 - Create A login TEST2USR which will be the owner of the objests in TEST2
But the owner of the User Objects in TEST1 is TEST1USR How can i transfer my objects using (Import/Export Utility) from TEST1 to TEST2 changing the owner (From TEST1USR to TEST2USR).
In the BOL about Designing a Backup and Restore Strategy, it is mentioned there is a Base Functionality Script that should be run after SQL Server restored. What is Base Functionality Script? Just DBCC CHECKDB? Anything else?
