I have a DTS package that I brought over from SQL server 2000 in to SQL Server 2005. I have installed all of the legacy components to run the DTS packages but I need to debug an ActiveX script task. In SQL Server 2000 I could turn on Just-In-Time debugging and use the stop operator (in my vbscript) to break the running script and launch the debugger.
I don't see how to do this in SQL Server 2005 Management Studio. Is it possible to debug a script object in a DTS package running in SQL Server 2005?

Hi,
We are migrating our production environment from 32-bit SQL Server 2005, Windows 2003 server to 64-bit SQL Server 2005, Windows 2003 server environment with 4GB of RAM. We have recompiled the SSIS packages to run in 64-bit mode and stored them in database. But one of the package fails with initial information as

Any clue?
I have a SQL2000 DTS package that executes vbscript to loop through a recordset which:
- runs a stored procedure and populated tables
- builds a recordset from the populated tables to write records to an Excel file
- writes status to text files with either the error or success notices
I use FSO to set up the success and error files, but the scheduled job in SQL2005 which calls the SSIS package returns the following error:
"Retrieving the file name for a component failed with error code 0x0015F74C"
I can successullly run this (vbscript) in both the SSIS package via the BI Development Studio and in MS Access (exactly the same code in both) - but not as a SSIS package called in a scheduled job in SQL2005.
I am at an impasse with this ... any and ALL assistance would be GREATLY appreciated.
TIA,
Bob
My ActiveX code wrote:
Function Main()
msgbox "Hello" & DTSTaskExecResult_Failure & DTSTaskExecResult_Success
Main = DTSTaskExecResult_Failure
End Function
However - it displays "Hello10" - but SSIS will not throw an error - it executes successfully.
Any ideas?
HI Experts,
I am having 2 severs (SQL2000 & SQL2005), there is already one DTS package in SQL 2000, now i have migrated DTS package to SSIS package. Now the problem is DTS package is having ActiveX script and it was executing perfectly in 2000 server but after migrated to 2005 server if i am executing the coverted SSIS package it is giving one error and the error is displaying here.

Can any one give me the solution as early as possible, and your help is soo Appreciable
I'm looking for a way to get the name of the server on which the DTS package lives.
I copy packages between servers. The problem is that everytime a package is copied
to different server, I have to change the reference in the connection strings to point
to the new server name. I'd like to find an automatic way to interrogate the server
name where the package currently lives and dynamically change connection strings
from within an ActiveX task. That would cut maintenance way down.
I am trying to execute an SSIS package from an MS Access 2003 database that imports a table from the Access database into a target table in SQL 2005. I saved the package in SQL 2005 and tested it out. If I run it from the Management Studio Console with Run->Execute ... everything works just fine. However, if I try to run it using "Exec master.dbo.xp_cmdshell 'DTExec /SER DATAFORCE /DTS SQL2005TestPackage /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING V'" the execution will always fail when the Access database is open (shared mode). It will only work when the Access database is not open. The connection manager looks like this: "Data Source=E:Test.mdb;Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Persist Security Info=False;Jet OLEDB:Global Bulk Transactions=1". The error is listed below:
Code: 0xC0202009

An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft JET Database Engine" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "Could not use ''; file already in use.".

View 1 Replies View RelatedHi, here is my problem :
I want to run ssis package in sql server 2005 agent.
i've made a new JOB with 3 steps ( 3 ssis package)
But when i run the job, i see only 2 "actions step" in the windows :
Start job .....
Execute job ....
I would like to see at least the execution status of every ssis package and if it's possible,
the execution of every task ( to see quickly if there's some error and what's wrong)
What's the best solution to doing that

I am getting strange error on deploying ssis package to SQL Server.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am new to SQL server 2005 and have a config question:
I am controlling database connection info using XML indirect config - no problems there.
Essentially I am going to have a number of packages that need to use a common file path, that might change from one server to the next, e.g. Server 1: C:sourceFiles versus Server 2: D:sourceFiles. Within this directory the filenames will remain static. So in the flat file connection manager I'd like to use a variable to reflect the folder - but I don't want to have to create this for each package.
So, I thought I would create a system environment variable and create expressions for the connection managers - something like %SOURCE_DIR% + "file.csv" - but this does not evaluate correctly.
So then i though I could use the SQL server configurations table with a configurationFilter SOURCE_DIR and appropriate configuration value - but then how do I access this in the flat file connection manager to create a dynamic file name?
So essentially I want a variable/property available globally to all my packages and potential flat file connection managers that help me to centrally control file path locations.
Any help would be most appreciated.

Hi all
I am migrating some DTS2000 packages to SSIS via the migration wizard. However there is an activex script in each DTS that connects to an AS400 to retrieve record count for integrity checking. Under SQL server 2000 this worked fine but now it errors with "The OLE DB provider "MSADSQL" has not been registered" how do i get this to work i suspect its because this is a 32 bit dll and my new system is a 64bit sql server on windows 2003. The odbc driver for the as400 has been installed also. The script is as follows:
dim cn 'sql connection
dim rs 'sql recordset for the insertion of new as400 records
dim insertstr 'sql insert string
dim rs1 'sql recordset for the insertion of new as400 records
dim insertstr1 'sql insert string
set cn = createobject("ADODB.Connection")
set rs = createobject("ADODB.Recordset")
Function Main()
'set up connection for sql
cn.provider="sqloledb"
cn.commandtimeout = 3600 'timeout in seconds
cn.open %sqlserver05%, %user%, %password%
'populate temporary table in sql with recordset from as400 odbc
insertstr1 = "Insert into db.dbo.%table% select 'table name',a.* from openrowset ('MSDASQL','DRIVER={Client Access ODBC Driver (32-bit)};SYSTEM=%system name%;UID=%username%;PWD=%password%','SELECT count(*) from %table%') as a"
set rs1 = cn.execute (insertstr1)
'close all objects
cn.close
Main = DTSTaskExecResult_Success
End Function
Does anyone know how i change this to work under sql server 2005. i need to resolve this quickly in order to deliver a project on time. Many thanks

Hi,
I created a SSIS package which will generate an output file and place it on a remote fileshare location which will look something like this
\RemoteServerNameRemoteFilePath
The package is executing fine when I am executing it through BIDS or through execute package utility and writing the output file to remote file share location.
I created a SQL job for the package and ran the Job. Then, its throwing an error saying

SQL server agent is running with the log-on account DomainUser(same as the above).
Could anyone help me in resolving this issue.

Hi,
I have developed an SSIS package for ETL purpose. I am invoking the SSIS package through .Net console application by referencing the ManagedDTS Assembly. I am able to execute the package in Sql Server 2005 Developer Edition and it runs fine till completion.
But when i try to execute the packahe in Sql Server 2005 Standard edition, by invoking the package through .Net console application the status of the package is failure.
Can any one help me how to over come this problem.
Hi,
In our project we have two SSIS package.
And there is a task (Execute SSIS package) in First package that calls the execution of second package.
I m continuously receiving an error "Failed to decrypt protected XML node "PackagePassword" with error 0x8009000B "Key not valid for use in specified state.". You may not be authorized to access this information. This error occurs when there is a cryptographic error. Verify that the correct key is available."
As we are running first package by job, job runs successfully logging above error
The protection level of second package is set to "EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey"
Can anybody please suggest how to handle it?

Hello,
I have a big problem and i'm not able to find any hint on the Network.
I have a window2000 pc, VS2005,II5 and SQLServer 2005(dev edition)
I created an SSIS Package (query to DB and the result is loaded into an Excel file) that works fine.
I imported the dtsx file inside my "Stored Packages".
I would like to load and run the package programmatically on a Remote Scenario using the web services.
I created a solution with web service and web page that invoke the web service.
When my code execute:
Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application.LoadFromDtsServer(packagePath, ".", Nothing)
I got the Error:
Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.DtsRuntimeException: The package failed to load due to error 0xC0011008 "Error loading from XML. No further detailed error information can be specified for this problem because no Events object was passed where detailed error information can be stored.". This occurs when CPackage::LoadFromXML fails.
The error message doesn't help so much and there is nothing on the www to give me and advice....
Is it a SSIS problem???
Thank you for any help!!

I have an SSIS package that runs fine through command pormpt although when I try to run it from a SQL Servr Agent Job CmdExec step it bombs out. Please help this has me stumped...the SSIS package uses an XML connection string so certain key settings such as connection strings and email info can be changed easily. Currently this is all on the same machine. I have not moved it beyond where I am developing.
On the command line I am using the following command...
dtexec /F "S:connectionscontacts.dtsConfig" /DE "password"

Hi,
Thanks for reading.
I am creating a DTS package to import a .txt file into sql. I have everything in place, but the text file needs to have the last record deleted before the import. I need help with this part
I would like to delete the last record from a fixed width text file before I import it into sql. The number of rows will vary from file to file.
Can any one offer suggestions on the best way to do this.
I understand that I have to use the FSO to open and read the file, but I am not sure the best way to proceed after that.
Thanks in advance,
Steve

Does anyone know why this is occuring?
Using ActiveX Script Task it is possible create office automation objects such as Word and Excel typically using the CreateObject() Syntax. Can you use this syntax to create a Package object using CreateObject("DTS.Package")? If not Why not? I am not sure whether it was possible in DTS.
I am aware of the fact that ActuveX Script Task is included in this Version of SSIS and will be deprecated.

I open a package in SSIS I get the following errors.Validation error. Create TestKeys For Scan Records: TestKeys Table in AEISIT Import db [1]:The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "AEISIT Upload" failed with error code 0xC0202009. ScanUpload.dtsx 0 0 I open my connections in the connection manager and set them to the (local) server and the errors go away.Then I close and reopen the package and the errors are back.What am I doing wrong??
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a SSIS package that reads data from a dump table, runs a custom script that takes date data and converts it to the correct format or nulls and formats amt fields to currency, then inserts it to a new table. The new table redirects insert errors. This process worked fine until about 3 weeks ago. I am processing just under 6 million rows, with 460,000 or so insert errors that did give error column and code.
Now, I am getting 1.5 million errors. and nothing has changed, to my knowledge. I receive the following information.
Error Code -1071607685 Error Column 0 Error Desc No status is available.
The only thing I can find for the above error code is
DTS_E_OLEDBDESTINATIONADAPTERSTATIC_UNAVAILABLE
To add to the confusion, I can not see any errors in the data written to the error table. It appears that after a certain point is reached in the processing, everything, or most records, error out.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Derrick
I migrated the DTS from 2000, and the migrated SSIS which includes ActiveX script is 11KB, takes 00:00.125 running. I rewrote the SSIS using some new features provided in BIDS, and the new package is 50KB, takes 00:00:6.016 running. Is that normal or maybe because of the efficiency of my code?
thanks.
Can you assist me with converting the code below to VB ?

objExcel.Workbooks.Open "C:FTPOUTGOINGFTP_MarkOff.xls",,,,""
objExcel.Workbooks(1).SaveAs "C:FTPOUTGOINGFTPMarkoff.xls",,"password"
objExcel.Workbooks.Close
Set objExcel = Nothing
Main = DTSTaskExecResult_Success
