mean i.e list of messages corresponding to numbers........
I have a query that executes just fine except that it won't recognize varchar(255) ( or any other value within the () ) and if I leave it off like this: varchar, then it executes but it leaves that value as 1 and that is just not very useful for my purposes. This also happens with anything else that requires () to add length such as char(), or nvarchar(), etc... Any ideas?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have uninstalled the SQL Server Express Edition that I have installed from the CDs that were given to me during a Chicago Conference when READY TO LAUNCH Visual Studio 2005, SQL SERVER 2005, and Biz Talk 2005.
Then I went to microsoft website: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/sql/register/default.aspx and downloaded and installed the so called Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and I got the messages Error that you read below. Then I Uninstalled Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and went again to msdn website and downloaded Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Advanced Services SP1 and installed it. I got again the same message as below.
MESSAGE:
1. First comes a window with the title: €œsetup.exe €“ Unable to Locate Component€?
And it displays a message:
This application has failed to start because MSTDCPRX.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
2. After I click the OK button of this window it comes another window with the title: €œMicrosoft SQL Server 2005 Server Setup€?
And it displays a message: Failed to load SqlSpars.dll
Does anybody can tell what is going on with the 3 times I tried to installed different SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and I get the same message?????

I 'm getting this error on expanding the + nodes in SQL Server Management Studio Express Object Explorer:i.e. Database -> System Databases -> Any DB selected and expanding the Tables node When I click on the nodes for Tables for any of my databases, I see it saying expanding..., but then a message box errors pops up. I know users in Microsoft have pointed out to us that we are getting things for free.
At the same time, Microsoft is getting our patience for free and at a cost to us developers.
Its nearly April and as one article says Microsoft will release a fix for this inadequacy
Microsoft...we are happy to pay for this. Palm offers it so what is the big deal. Its not the
reinvention of the wheel. We would have liked that instead of the server synchronization
that bypasses the local sql express database
I as many others are happy to pay
Please let us know when you will be addressing this problem.
I would appreciate the feedback and frustration of other developers. Maybe this will show them we are really running out of time with our clients

I am using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. I have also downloaded the Sql Server Express toolkit from the Microsoft site in order to get access to the server's Reporting Services. The toolkit, according to Microsoft, should have included a cut-down version of the Business Intelligence Development Studio. The problem is that after downloding and installing I cant find Business Intelligence development Studio. The shortcut in the start menu brings me to Visual Studio 2005 and not to Business Intelligence Development Studio. Am I missing something?
I can get SQL SERVER 2005 to install it goes through the extracting files then gives me an error message that says "SQL Server Setup unexpectedly failed. for more information, review the setup summery log file " . I don't think i have any beta versons of Visual Studio or SQL I do have Accouting Express with has something with SQL I don't know if that will stop my installation. I really need SQL to work for my business.

Is Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express (sql 2005) compatible with Sql Server 2000 databases?
I'm using Windows Vista and the sql 2000 Enterprise Manager is not fully compatible with Vista...long not responding messages.
Can i use the client version of Slq 2005?

Does Microsoft officially support installing SQL 2005 Express on a server where SQL 2000 Enterprise Edition is already running (a has to keep running).
In case they do, where do i find this official info / note.

I know it is possible to install the two together and that they can coexist, but I am worried about how the two SQL installations wil behave when being updated with patches, security updates, service packs etc. do you run the possibility of them corrupting each other? Therefor it is vital to know if Microsoft supports the two running on the same system.
Hi, Simple question really - Can I use Crystal Reports v8.5 to attach to databases in SQL Server Express and generate reports? I have done a lot of searches in these forums and using Google and I believe it is possible but if someone could confirm this it would help a lot - I'm in the specification stage of a project and would like to use SQL Sever Express for it.

I'm trying to follow a sample from microsoft for Using SQLXML Bulk Load in the .NET Environment
In the sample c# console app. it says to select add reference then In the COM tab, select Microsoft SQLXML Bulkload 4.0 Type Library (xblkld4.dll) and click OK.
The problem I have is I cannot find the library or the xblkd4.dll file on my pc.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help would be much appreicated.

Hi, having a bit of a problem - I'm trying to attach a database in MS SQL Server Management Studio Express. When I try in Windows Authentication I can't see any of my databases when I try to browse, so I had a look around on Google a saw mentioned that I should maybe use SQL Server Authentication. Only I don't know my user name and password, where can I configure this? I remember when I was setting up entering a password, but not a user name. Any ideas? thanksmander
View 2 Replies View RelatedHi guys, I've tried to back a database from a server on the net ie: discountasp.net by using Microsoft SQL 2005 Express management tool.
After all the set up:
(1) the part "Destination", in the "Disk" radio button was cheked, the path for the backup file shows like: D:MSSQL.1MSSQLBackupmyDatabase.back; As I understand D: is the CD drive(?), so I put a CDisc in the drive, and kept going with the process. The Process went very well and inform that the Database has been fully backed up. But I never have found the "saved" or "backed up" that I backed up. Can anyone show me where this backup Database in that D: drive, and where is that D: drive anyway?
(2) In that "destination" part, if I clicked "add", and then typed in the path address part like: C:....mybackupDatabase.bak for example, the the tool gave me the error: ... not set to an instance ...; I counldn't even select the Browse to browse to the directory that I wanted to back up the Database.
Please help me for this.

I recently (yesterday) installed a fresh copy of Windows XP with Service Pack 2 applied.
I proceeded with Visual Studio 2005 Express Editions installation straight away.
But I cannot install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition x86.
I choose to install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition x86 component along with every component of visual studio but it simply would not install.
In the end, after the installation of each complete is complete, I simply get an error message saying that Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition x86 failed to install.
What is the problem?
I was having some trouble with the DTS Wizard and so I thought I'd just reinstall the whole MSSM. I used remove programs, rebooted my Vista computer and am trying to reinstall the Server Express Toolkit. It tells me that MSSM already exists on my computer (which it doesn't).
The actual screen reads:

How do I reinstall MSSM now? It's gone from my computer.

Was trying to open AdventureWorks when i got this error: "There is no editor available "C: Program Flies.....AdventureWorksDW_Log.LDF'
Make sure the application for the file type(.LDF) is installed.
How can this error be corrected? I also have some error on mdf not installed.May i know how should be the initally steps to be done inorder for me to view this database.

I have just found out i/we need to upgrade to the full version of this management tool to make use of SSRS for a new CRM we are putting in place, The CRM company tells me we can just install the tool from our SQL 2005 disk.
Im wondering what the best way to go about this is? i would guess we just un-install the express version install the full version of the management tool and reconnect to the database. unless im missing anything?

I want to use SQL Server to query an Access Database with about 40,000 rows of data. If possible, I don't want to upsize the database because others need acess to it in the ACC97 format. Is there a way to use ODBC to connect to the ACC97 database so that I can use the SQL query capability of SQL server to query the database.
I know access allows you to write some SQL queries but I need the power of the SQL server and now it is a matter of curiosity because I've been searching for this answer for about 8 hours.

If I try to download using a download manager it stops after 98% (the segment that stops is the first segment).
If I try to download without a download manager it stops after 1% (456Kb).
What can I do?

database that I can access and run queries against. However, I
cannot connect to it via Visual Wed Developer 2005 Express. At

Problem
I downloaded the VB Lesson 9 Visual Basic Project from Microsoft Learning Resources. With out making any changes to the project I compiled and ran it, making changes to the data and saving the changes. Every thing look great until you run it a second time and see that the changes to the data are all lost.
Observations:
1. Changes made to the data from within Visual Studio (Show Table Data) do take effect.
2. The in-memory data (DataSet) is changed as you move from row to row.
3. The TableAdapter.Update call returns 1, ostensibly indicating the number of rows updated.
4. The data in the database is not changed by the TableAdapter.Update call.
