Hi I have problem in configuring my web project on Window server 2000. I have created the web application using Visual Studio 2005 tools. I have configured Window server 2000 with the .Net Framework Version 2.0. I can access the page which doesn't have database access. The connection string in the web config file is giving me the problem that connection string can't be found. Does any one have any idea? My database connection string looks like this. <connectionStrings> <add name="etzAusBldConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=CASCADE;Initial Catalog=etzAusBldBaseData1;User ID=sa1;Password=****" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" /> </connectionStrings> Moe
In MSDN, it says that it is recommended to use windows authentication to connect to SQL Server rather than use mixed authentication.
I create user deltasqluser on windows OS, and I specify in my webform ASP.NET script below :
protected System.Web.UI.WebControls.Label Label1; private string _connString = @"data source=deltasql2000;initial catalog=northwind;integrated security=false;user id=deltasqluser"; /* comment : I login to my windows as deltakoronx, and I want to every user (including me), connected to sql server through IIS, will be identified as deltasqluser not as user's login (impersonate) */ private void Page_Load(object sender, System.EventArgs e) { SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(_connString); SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(); cmd.Connection = conn; cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text; cmd.CommandText = "select suser_sname()";
at web.config, I add : <identity impersonate="false" userName="deltasqluser" password="" />
at IIS webApplication1's properties, tab "Directory Security", at "Authentication and access control" section, I checked "enable anonymous access" with user : DELTAIUSR_DELTA and checked "Integrated Windows Authentication",
at query analyzer, I login as "sa" and execute script below : exec sp_grantdbaccess 'deltasqluser','northwind'
when I run the ASP.NET script, error at conn.Open(); with error message : Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE'.
What should I do so that IIS login to SQL Server as user deltasqluser not as "NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE" ?
Can anyone tell me if there's a way to create new windows from thetables section of a database in Enterprise Manager such that I canlimit the tables included in that window? Ultimately, I'm looking fora solution whereby I can group tables, stored procedures, etc. intological groups that can then be displayed using different MMCconsoles. I'm looking for either a GUI-level or programatic approach.Thank you,Dax Westerman
When I start the server agent - it opens up a black (command prompt type) window that seems to serve no purpose - that I know of yet. What is this and can I stop it opening up all the time?
I have an desktop app that uses a system DSN to access SQL Server 7. I backed up a database from another machine and restored it on my machine. Now when my app starts, it prompts for login/pw for SQL Server. I have checked my ODBC connection, and the login and pw are correct. I have also used Enterprise Mgr to check it in SQL Server. Does anyone have any thoughts on why it is now popping up? Drop me a line at bcarlson@documentsolutions.com, and I can answer any questions. I was wondering if any info about the prev machine exists for the database (on the restore)?
Hi, It happened to my sql server 5 times in three weeks. The window just froze and no response to any thing for my sql server. I need reboot server everytime to bring the server back. No any error log in SQl or window, Does any one can help on this one? Helen
Hello everybody, MySQL has a WebServer console, that lets to create tables via easy to handle SQL queries. Since I am used to SQL Server console, I would like to have such window in Micosoft SQL Server Express coming with Visual Studio 2008. Despite I searched for it, I did not find a database console window.

Hello guys,I've one query regarding accessing SQL Server. I want to use SQL Server jobs scheduling functionality. Is it possible to open SQL Server's jobs window from VB.NET? (Server -> Management -> Jobs) Pls. help me to solve this query. Thanks in advance. Waiting for yr reply.
Probably simple but I cannot find the property setting that allows me to change the default date format of the column "Created" in the Summary window. Default it is 2007-11-15. As some tables are changed more than one time in a day, I would like to see also the time as was the standard in SQL SERVER 2000. This is a minor problem but an irritating one!
I installed the SQL Server 2005 standard edition after uninstalling the Express edition.
When i look in the 'About' screen in the 'SQL Server Managment studio', i don't see indication that the SQL Server 2005 i currently work with is the Standard Edition. There are only categories and their numbers of versions.
How do i know that the Edition i work on ,now , is the Standard edition ?
Our Dev team created a web application. Which user we need to add in the database and what permission we need to assign him. So web application can do read, write and modify in the database tables.
Database name = ACCT IIS server name = MASS (running on different machine win 2003)
What role following accounts play in the connection of iis to database server login.
1: ASP.NET 2: MASSii$1 & massiis1
If <indentitt impersonate = TRUE or False> in the config file..

i am restoring newdatabase(test) with the backup from other server. The problem is the restoring process is hanging and its not restoring the database .when i stopped and refreshed the databases the database is not showing up could some body Give patch for this problem

I have just received a database backup: "myDB_20005034400.bak" and have been asked to put a copy on my server. I am told that this was made from the Enterprise Manager's DB Maintenance Utility. The backup Administrator has left the company with the server in a crashed condition.
How can I find out what "myDB_20005034400.bak" pertains to? (No msdb, etc. available). I am RESTORING TO A NEW SERVER.
MAIN: HOW DO I RESTORE THIS FILE TO A NEW DATABASE; ie TestDB (TestDB.mdf; TestDB.ldf)?
Hi, Please give the retoration procedure: I have a production server and I want test it on the other machine to check whether my backups are working or not?(Please give me step by step so that I can do easily) Your answer will be highly appreciated. Thanks, dindu
when i am trying to restore MSDB database from a disk backup it is giving an error saying "Database in use.System administrator must have exclusive use of the databse to run the restore operation". But i am not using msdb anywhere.when i see the processes under current activities i see an application named sqlagent-alert engine using the database.even after killing this process it reppaears and stops the restore operation. so i stopped sql server agent and did the restore operation. It worked. so is it necessary to stop sql server agent while restoring msdb?may i know the logical reason for it?
While one of my DB through job i got following error message.
Failed to uncompressing data block. RESTORE DATABASE is terminating abnormally. Read on "VDI_2A04E518-0B70-41F8-BA22-48A63F9AC65C_0" failed: 1223(The operation was canceled by the user.) [SQLSTATE HY000] (Error 52008). The step failed.
I operate a website which runs on Server 2003 and SQL 2005 Express. Unfortunately my server experienced a hard drive failure, however fortunately I have a full backup using 2003's NT Backup.
My new server is slightly different specification wise to my last server - but my question is, what are my options for restoring the database and how would I go about this? I do administor 2003 servers, but I'm not a database administrator.
My initial thoughts are to update Windows and its components (such as IE) and SQL 2005 to the same equivalent versions, and to perform a full restore, but what if it breaks Windows?
My second thought is to somehow extract the database from my backup file, but then I wouldn't know where to start how to re-import everything.
I am working on a site redesign which attaches to an MS SQL backend. The hosting company sent me a backup copy of the DB. I am trying to restore the db into my SQL Server but keep getting an error. I created an empty DB and then backed up that DB. I then replaced the .bak from my db with the .bak file he sent to me in a zip document. I then tried to do a DB restore through enterprise manager and recieved this error:
Device activation error. The physical file name 'd:sqldatabasemssqldatastklaweb_db_data.mdf' may be incorrect. File 'stklaweb_db_data' cannot be restored to 'd:sqldatabasemssqldatastklaweb_db_data.mdf'. Use With Move to identify a valid location for the file. Device activation err. The physical file name 'd:sqldatabasemssqldatastklaweb_db_data.ldf' may be incorrect. File 'stklaweb_db_data' cannot be restored to 'd:sqldatabasemssqldatastklaweb_db_data.ldf'. Use With Move to identify a valid location for the file. RESTORE DATABASE is terminating abnormally.
I need to get this db restored asap. Any suggestions/help would be GREATLY appriciated!!!
I have a question regarding windowing functions. I have a sales order table with the columns "orderid", "customerid", "order_date" and "amount". I use the following query to get the amount of every customer as a additional column:
Select customerid, orderid, order_date, amount, SUM(amount) OVER (PARTITION BY customerid) FROM sales_orders
My question is if there is a good way to add another column, which includes the SUM(amount) of the customerid, where the order_date > 2012-01-15 , something like this:
Select customerid, orderid, order_date, amount, SUM(amount) OVER (PARTITION BY customerid), SUM(amount) OVER (PARTITION BY customerid WHERE order_date > 2012-01-15) FROM sales_orders
I know, this is not a valid method, so do you know a way to achieve this? Can I maybe use CROSS APPLY or something like this? I know that I could use a subquery to get this, but is there maybe a way / a better way via window functions?
I have installed 2 node windows Fail-over clusters successfully. But QUARUM Configuration is not appearing in Failover cluster manager instead "Witness: Disk (Disk Cluster 4)". I have also configured quarum configuration from Quarum "Configure Cluster QUARUM Settings". I have attached the snapshots of windows cluster configuration. Is it the issue or not. I have not got any warning and error during cluster validation while installing Windows failover cluster. I am assuming it is okay and i can move ahead to installation of SQL Failover cluster setup.
