Allowing Non Sysadmin User To Send Email With Attachments
Mar 28, 2007
i am aware that only sysadmin can send attachments using sp_send_dbmail. but the problem is, i don wan my application login to have sysadmin role and wan it to be able to send email with attachments using sp_send_dbmail. i'm using a stored procedure to call sp_send_dbmail, anyway can i impersonate sysadmin inside the stored procedure to execute sp_send_dbmail?
I am using the below code to send HTML Email body to multiple recipients and CC, its working fine. Now i have to attach multiple files in that mail. Is there any possibilities to attach multiple files with the below code else provide any other code to achieve this task.

I have just setup a new Reporting Service Server. I loaded a page then I created a subscription which will email and excel document of the report out.
Each time the subscription runs I am getting this error below:
Failure sending mail: The report server has encountered a configuration error. See the report server log files for more information.Failure sending mail: The report server has encountered a configuration error. See the report server log files for more information.
When I take out the attachment on the email and just have it send the link the email runs fine with no errors. Is there some type of setup that needs to be done with the server side to have it send attachments?
I have a DTS that creates multiple .zip files in a folder. Each zip file has a different name. My goal is to attache all the zips to a single email in a Send Mail Task. I have tried to do so with something like "C:Folder*.zip", but have had no luck. Any suggestions?
i need to send a report as e-mail. so i'm trying it through email subscription. i'm rendering the report in MHTML format. I'm able to get the report in mail but the problem is the images (i,e bar graph, charts and embedded images) in the report are getting displayed below the actual report and all images in the report are added as attachment. i need only the generated report as mail and not these extra images that gets embedded in the email. Is there is any way to get this done??
I need to email a report that contains a date in the report name. Can I build the file name with script and use a variable in the attachments field on the send mail task. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
The script is working fine if i manually provided file path to @file_attachments. it is showing error i passes the variable @Loc3 to @file_attachments. Below is the error if i passes the variable to @file_attachments parameter.

Please forgive my post, as I am not a network tech, however I provide pc support to the city offices where I live and they are in need of help.
Physical box and pc's moved to a new location. All setup with proper cabling, etc. At first log on after the move all users to log on as normal, a day or two later, only the Administrator can log on and there is only one administrator profile.
Any duh quick fixes to check out, as this brings down 4 city offices.
Is it possible to show the user name (such as 'phuser') who is a member of the sysadmin group (NOT my idea!) I notice if you go to current connections is SQL EM the name shows, but if I login as that user if I try, user, user_name, etc inside of QA it shows DBO
With MS SQL 2000 Enterprise Manager, is there a way to allow a user accessto only a few tables, but deny the user access to the rest without having togo to all of the tables and denying access? The database has roughly 50tables, but only 3 should be granted to the new user, so as you can see itwould be a painstaking task to manually do this with the *cough* mouse. Or,if I can run some sort of grant script, that would work too. Thank you!
Platform: Win2000 SP3, SQL 7.00 - 7.00.1063I have a SQL-authenticated user with the following permissions:"Process Administrators" server role"db_owner" and "TargetServersRole" for msdb database"db_owner" for master database. The problem is that when this user opens up any job (i.e. owned by anyuser) in the SQL Server Agent, and goes to the Notifications tab, thefirst three alerts (Email, Page and Net send) are greyed out, i.e.these cannot be set.The other options are available (Write to Windows application eventlog, Automatically delete job). The only way I can achieve this is to give this user the "SystemAdministrators" server role, i.e. sa.But this of course gives absolutely full access, which I don't want.Is there a way for a user to see/change Notifications of jobs whichonly he owns?
I'm trying to run the Bulk Insert statement but in order for me the run it, i need to have the sysadmin permission. Can someone show me how to grant sysadmin permission to my SQL Server user? This is really urgent. Thank you in advance.

Is there a simple command that can be executed to check if the current user has sysadmin privs? I just want to check to see if I have sysadmin privs and if so then execute a command, if not do nothing in .Net code. I just want to do this check once and set a variable in the .net code.
This was a P A I N to get working. Maybe someone else here is sending email and could use it.

I'm trying to implement DTS and FTP. So that when a company sends or FTP infomation to our server, it runs a script and checks to see if the infomation is correct and sends and email saying successful or unsuccessful.

I created an operator(dmalhotr) and given me as the email address. Here is the error what I'm getting when I'm pressing the test buttonto email myself in properties dmalhotr operator (hope that makessense).Error 22022: sqlserveragent error: the sqlserveragent mail session isnot running; check the mail profile and/or the sqlserveragent servicestartup account in the sqlserveragent properties dialog.I cancel out of it. Then I go to support services --> sql mail -->right-click properties (WE HAVE LOTUS NOT EXCHANGE HERE- dont knowwhether that makes a difference). It says profile name Outlook and I click test. It says Successfullystarted (and stopped) a MAPI session with this profile.I go back to the operator and then click test to send email and I getthe same error. I started and stopped sql server agent and still getthe same error. Not sure how this works, please send me an email as to what I'm doingwrongThanks:DHRUV
It seems that using the Send Mail Task, there is no option for me to format my email as HTML. I have all my HTML code in a string and need to format my email to send the string as an HTML email. What would be the best way to approach this?
I am generating the text file on run time using flat file destination. The text file is generated on the location C: SSIS or D:SSIS based on the location specified in the configuration file.
The text file contains the non matching rows during lookup transform task.
I want to send this dynamically generated text file using the send email task.
But while doing this, I receive an error during package validation:
Package validation error:
Error at send email task [ send email task ] : either the file C:SSISErroroutput.txt does not exists or you do not have permission to access the file.
Error at send email task ; There were error during task validation.
Please suggest as I need to generate the text file only in case of lookup failure.
My company has a Windows 2008 R2 server which is running SQL Server v11.0.5058. This server was previously running SQL Server 2008 and was recently upgraded. Since the upgrade I have noticed that when I connect to this server using SSMS and Windows authentication it seems as though I have a limited user context as I cannot see SQL Agent in the server tree at all and underneath the server security > logins folder I can only see the sa and SQL Server Windows service accounts (there are many more).
If I connect to the server using SSMS and the sa credential then I can see everything I expect to be able to see as a sysadmin.
I tried connecting as sa, then deleting my Windows AD account from the security > logins folder and reading my Windows AD account with the sysadmin role however this yielded the same result, when I connect using Windows authentication I still appear to be in a limited user context.
We have several other SQL 2008 / 2012 servers within our organization and all of them appear to be working fine / none of them exhibit this problem.
I thought I could just copy over some asp.net code like: System.Web.Mail.MailMessage mailMessage = new System.Web.Mail.MailMessage(); But VS2005 doesn't seem to want me touching System.Web.Mail. Any ideas? Thanks, Allen
Does anyone know if this can be done? I've looked everywhere. This is how my info is appearing in an email... These are the files I requested and this is how it's being displayed. Any suggestions?
