Application Failover Error

We currently have a system that uses sql server 2005 mirroring. In testing the application, we fail over the database in the middle of a 2.0 .NET web application. The failover partner is specified in the connection string.
The next request to the web server results in an error page popping up with the message "A transport-level error has occurred when sending the request to the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.)"
This message only occurs for the first request to the web server, all subsequent requests sucessfully access the new failed over database.

Hi,
I have 2 SQL 2005 database servers working together as a mirrored configuration.
Accessing this database I have an Apache Tomcat 5.5 server using SQL JDBC 1.1 driver. When the database is running in a non-failover state everything works fine and my Tomcat application (uPortal) runs as expected. However, when the database is failed over, my Tomcat application hangs indefinitely; even after restarting Tomcat following the failover.
This is how my connection string looks in the server.xml of Tomcat:
jdbcqlserver://**.**.**.165:1384;failoverPartner=**.**.**.97;port=1384;DatabaseName=myUWE;Language=English
I can connect to the failoverPartner once it becomes the principal server after a failover.
Has anyone experienced this before, or have any suggestions that I can try to resolve this issue?

After manual AG fail-over from primary to secondary the application is not able to connect the listener name for atleast for 5 - 10 mins
The telnet fails during this time from app server, the listener ip is on muti-subnet.
At the same when i try to connect it from SSMS from a remote machine it works fine.

2. Assume I have always on cluster with three nodes, if primary fails, how second node make write/ read mode.
3. after fail over done to 2nd secondary node what mode in production(readonly or read write).
4. how to rollback to production primary ,will change data in secondary will get updated in primary.

We have set up Mirroring with a witness server and everything works fine when we failover from the SQL Management console.
However, if we failover when our Maccola client is connected, the client blows up - clearly because it can no longer connect to the database.
The ODBC DSN used by the Maccola client shows a checkbox for the 'select a failover server' but the checkbox is grayed out.
Also the summary of settings for the DSN at the end of the wizard reveals that the failover to server (y/N) option is set to N.
The default setting for this DSN is 'populate the remaining values by querying the server' but it doesn't appear to be getting the settings for failover from the server or any other interactive DSN settings either. The server is clearly set for mirroring.
Another suspicious item is that the DSN cannot connect to the server with SA permissions, even though the server is set to mixed security and we use the correct authentication.
Is it possible that the client MACHINE is not authenticating with the domain or sql server properly. We are logged into the client with the domain account that is the SQL admin account on the sql server box.
We should be able to interact with the sql server settings through the ODBC DSN on the client shoulnd't we?
Are we missing a service pack on the client?

I have setup a mirror configuration with a witness to be able to use the automatic failover. The principal is DBSP01, the mirror is DBSP02 and the witness is DBSP03. I have an application running an DBCP01. When the mirroring is working, the application can connect to the database on DBSP01. I disconnect dbsp01 from the network, so that DBSP02 becomes the principal. When I try to connect the application to the database on DBSP02, the login fails. Whithout the mirroring I was able to logon to DBSP02, but as soon as it is part of the mirroring, I'm not able to connect to it anymore, whatever the state of the database is. What could be the problem? Can anybody help?

Hi all,
The following query that uses a linked server is giving me the error message below after I initiate a failover (ALTER DATABASE Northwind SET PARTNER FAILOVER). I have SQL Server 2005 SP2. I think that without the service pack there is another error too.
The query is run from a database other than northwind of course.
select * from DualLink.northwind.dbo.Test1
Please note that:
without a failover it works perfectly
it always work if I try to run it a second time - only the first time it fails.
it fails the first time for each of the open connections. A new connection that was open after the failover will work fine.
A transport-level error has occurred when sending the request to the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.)

I've written a small VB .Net app using Visual Studio 2005 to test mirroring from the client's perspective.
I have a button that does the following: 1) opens a connection to a sql 2005 database (SP2), 2) uses the connection, 3) closes the database connection.
After running this code, but while the client app is still running, I failover the database to the failover partner.
When click my button again, I get the following error: "An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)". Checking the Event log on what is now the mirror, I see a string of "18456 Login failed for user 'testuser'"
If I close the app and launch it again, it does the right thing (and connects to the new primary). Also, instead of closing/re-opening the app, if I wait long enough (e.g. 10 minutes), then try again, it connects successfully to the new primary. Finally, instead of closing/re-opening the app if I tweak the connection string (e.g. change the application name) then try to connect again, that also works.
Based on articles I've read online, I've disabled the connection pool in my connection string, but that didn't solve my problem (although I'm getting a different error than if pooling is on).
Here is the connection string I am using:
Data Source=DB1PACS,12345;Failover Partner=DB2PACS,12345;Pooling=False;Initial Catalog=PACSTest_Client;Integrated Security=No;User ID=testuser;Password=*****
Here is the code snippet that I run before and after the failover. Based on the fact that I'm not using Pooling, the ClearAllPools() if overkill. Any help would be appreciated; I've been researching this for days without luck.
I can keep clicking the button that runs this code, and it keeps failing. If I wait long enough (e.g. 10 minutes) and then click the button again, it works. Or I could quit/restart the app, or tweak the connection string.

Similar to the JDBC driver article I mentioned, when using the connection string above (where DB1 is the principal and DB2 is the failover partner) if DB2 is the actual principal when I initially query and close the database connection, then after failover to DB1 my application reconnect just fine.

I'm getting the following error when I go to create a cluster in the Failover Cluster Manager in Windows Server 2008.
"The address 10.10.10.111 is not valid for its associated network"
I'm following the instruction in the book for the 70-462 exam. Â There was a step that had me create a DNS A record for the address sql-cluster.contoso.com. Â The IP address was mapped to 10.10.10.111. Â I'm not sure if this is the culprit but its the only time I used that IP address in the setup.

I am experiencing a problem while performing failover testing on 2005 Standard.
I have an application which uses an ODBC connection SQL Native Client with a failover partner.
The following is the series of events that cause the problem. I am using a domain admin account whilst testing which has a server login on both servers with the same privileges.

I have been facing following Error in Failover cluster setup as below. I have prepared 2 node and 2 instance sql server failover cluster on top of windows failover.I have deleted MTCBJINS07 in AD and recreated even after, problem is not solved. MTCBJINS07 is my 2nd sql instance sql server network name.
Cluster network name resource 'SQL Network Name (MTCBJINS07)' failed registration of one or more associated DNS name(s) for the following reason:

i am creating a service broker application between two different instance.when i am initiating a dialog from the source my message remain in the sys.transmission_queue.but its transmission_status column is empty.
i attached the profiler with both source and target by including all the service broker event.
in my source profiler i am getting the error like -- Connection attempt failed with error: '10061(No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.)'. with event Broker:connection
and in the target profiler error is --This message could not be delivered because the security context could not be retrieved. with event Broker:Message Undelivarible.
i have checked my port also using telnet with remotely and localy both working fine. i am using port no. 4001
and i have mentioned the port no. in the address of the route.
bt still getiing the error.

I recently installed SQL Server 2005 Enterprise on a machine running Server 2003. I have successfully configured Reporting Services (see below for summary of settings)
- Used the defaults for the Repor tServer and Report Manager Virtual Directories
- Windows Service Identity set to domain user. The domain user is part of the administrator group on the machine and has sysadmin rights to the database
- Web Service Identity set to NT AuthorityNetworkService
When I open http://localhost/reports/, I get the following error:

Hello all!
I have been researching this problem on the net. I have everything setup, here is the wierd part. I did a test windows application, and that application connects into my database just fine. I have SQL DEV 2005, everything is on my laptop. I have websites that I have wrote that connects fine.
I have application that give me this error. Now the only thing is that I wrote this windows app on a diffrent machine, with a diffrent SQL 2005 server. I had to move everything on my laptop, so I can finish on site at the clients place. So I grabbed the project, copied it over, and opened it on my laptop. No problems. I created a new database, scripted everything from the other server, and ran those scripts on my laptop to create the tables, SP etc.
Now my test application I created on my laptop, I can connect to the databse just fine with this string.

Hi,
I am trying to execute a SSIS package from a client through BIDS, but when I start BIDS, I am getting the error -
SqlWb.exe : Application error - The instruction at "0X77D...." referenced memory at "0X00000002". The memory could bot be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program.
Click on CANCEL to terminate the program.
Please help.
Other information:
I have tried running the package on the server and it executes properly. I really dont know why this is a problem with the SQL Server clients alone. I have also tried googling around and could not find any resolution. Can anyone point me to the right direction please!!!

The application log keeps generating this error message and I can't seem to find any information on it. Can anyone shed some light?

I have just upload my site to a which is going to be host the site, the thing is the site runs great on my PC. I know its something to do with the connectionStrings as its pointing to my PC and not at where it should be at the server its running on but i have spent the last 3 hours editing the web config but it does not matter what i do i cant get it to work.
What am i missing here?

I created a ASP.net 2.0 application using C# on VS2005 The application access several database on a remote SQL Server 2005I recently added Login functionalties to the application, this created a MDF in the app_data folder.Everything works fine on my local desk top... I can access my remote SQL Server 2005 and the local MDF file works fine, I can create account, login and all that fun stuffSo I Published the site to my target server:Which is the same server running the SQL Server 2005 The parts of the application that does not require login works fine, I can access the SQL server 2005 with ease..see data, update, everythingHowever when ever I try to login or create an account from the application(MDF file) I get this:An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)I can only assume that the problem is with the MDF file. Hi guys, I been having a problem, I have a project in asp.net 2.0 connecting to a database in sql server 2000, which works well if I run it from the VDE 2005, but when I pass the project to the IIS it fails, it gives me this error:

Hi,
I have created some reports and published them in a customised web site(company dashboard server). Once I click the report, it opens up with Internet Explorer provided by the company(I guess report viewer is embeded in IE).
But the problem is when I try to save it in excel or pdf version, I get the following long error message.

i have a login page and a create user page that worked fine when the aspnetdb was attached in mssql ... then i ran the aspnet_regsql.exe program on my database "web_data". then itried to change my web.,config file to reflect this change and now getting errors on both pages :
Here is the error that is displayed locally... Cannot open user default database. Login failed ....seems to be same locally and on the site ... site does not give error details.
Further down is my web.config file.
any help would be appreciated

Hi,
I have a problem in my .net application.
I am executing a stored procedure from my .net application.
The scope of this stored procedure is,
1.It should filter the records using several conditions(say it is Customer)
2.Using the filtered records, again some details are fetched(say it is transaction details)
3.For each and every transaction , Some of the details has to be updated in more than three tables, meanwhile the data to be updated is to be calculated (like tax amount, commision amount)which in turn calls two more stored procedures.
my problem is ..
if there are few records like 1000 or 2000, it is working fine...
but if it exceeds like say 6000 records, i am getting Time out expired error in my application .
If i catch the stored procedure exectution statement in sql profiler and execute it in Sql Query analizer , the stored procedure is executing properly but it takes nearly 6 minutes.
How can i solve this problem.
Please suggest me if i can work with any of the following options.
1)go for web services
2)go for windows services
3)optimize the stored procedure
If any one know some better answer to solve my problem..please post it.
