Bcp Problem ForSQL-6.5 To SQL-2005 For Cp1256 Data
Jan 23, 2008
Hi Gurus,
source server configuration: cp1256, nocase (SQL Server 6.5 on NT)
destination server configuration: cp1256, nocase (SQL Server 2005 on windows 2003)
I am still facing problem in bcp out and bcp in. The -V65 is tried out. The problem seems to me is that the bcp out from Win-MT at DOS prompt is turning the bcp out file into its own charset format, probably using some preset feature like auto convert for chars.
How to workaround this and get my arabic data in proper way into SQL2005.
Any help is highly appreciated.

Hi,
I have a central database server that is runnning on SQL 2005 standard edition and Windows server 2003 standard as OS.
I realise that I can use SQL statements to encrypt and decrypt the data inside the standard SQL.
However, how do I read and write the data via an web application coded in C#.net and is also running on the same machine?
Another issue is, I need to replicate some of the data in this SQL standard over to a SQL mobile running on a mobile device running on Windows CE 5.0.
The mobile device also needs to read and write data to the encrypted data via a C#.net application.
Question is, with all these requirements to be met, can I use AES? I know that AES is not available on Windows XP and Windows Server 2000 and I cant find AES in the .net compact framework.
how do i go about ensuring security? how do I ensure that the symmetric key is the same both on the SQL standard and SQL mobile?
thank you.

is there a step by step paper to get there? here is what i need to consider. I Iwill have many customers that will need their own set of records and access pages "branded for their company" each customer will have many clients. I am hosting this application on a windows 2003 server with SQL 2005 server enterprise.
I am using windows authentication, I have created a username in windows, then i added the windows user in SQL management studio in security, granted "DB Read" and "DB write" and again under the database security tab. still from the web authentication fails. i must be nissing a step or two?
I expect to set up a username for each database as i setup new customers.

Hello,
I am wondering what conversion rules apply, when a string, which contains a number, is saved to a SQL Server 2005 into a column of type decimal.
This is the code I€™m using (C++):
CString cValue = "0.75"
_variant_t vtFieldValue;
vtFieldValue = _variant_t(cValue)
pRecordSet->Fields->Item["MyColumn"]->Value = vtFieldValue;
"pRecordSet" is an ADO recordset. The database column "MyColumn" is of type "decimal(19,10)".
The most important question for me is, if the regional settings of the database server or the regional settings of the client PC are considered during the conversion from the string to the decimal value. For example in standard French regional settings the "." would not be recognized as decimal separator.
I am also wondering if the language of the database instance, in which this data is saved, is considered during this conversion or any other settings of this database instance.
So my general question is: Does anybody know exactly what rules apply during the above mentioned conversion?
Thank you for your help.
Regards,
Volker

I'm in the middle of developing a Database for a hospital that measures its audits, inhouse operations, and finance. What we currently have and do everyday is collect data from a large database that is real time with patient data, progess, infomation, etc and dump it into a data warehouse that runs on TSI/Eclipsys. We run reports using a number of programs and dump it into Excel sheets that have charts, reports, etc. This Database for which I'm developing won't come soley from the TSI/Eclypsys source, but this is the only source thats updated regularly. I don't want to have in sync with TSI/Eclipysys in fear that every day when it updates data may be lost, not read, or worse won't be up date if there is a problem. My question is is it possible to run a query from Sequel Server 2005 that will take that data upon request using the reporing features on Sequel Server 2005. i.e. What if I need to run a report on measure B in department 12 from Jan 1-Feb 1, instead of being in sync, can I just write queries to take that information rather than double the data and take up twice the space and trouble. FYI, these datatypes rarely change in the TSI/Eclipsys data warehouse. This sure was long question and didn't intended it to be . Thanks for listening and hope to hear back.

I am using the following query to export data from sql server to ms access in export data wizard:
SELECT * FROM myView where myID = 123
Order by varcharColumnName1,varcharColumnName2 ,intColumnName3
This query will fetch about 7, 00,000 records.
SQL server 2005 shows the correct order, but Data in access table shows Incorrect data.
Please give me the solutions.

I have one column in SQL Server 2005 of data type VARCHAR(4000).
I have imported sql Server 2005 database data into one mdb file.After importing a data into the mdb file, above column
data type converted into the memo type in the Access database.
now when I am trying to import a data from this MS Access File(db1.mdb) into the another SQL Server 2005 database, got the error of Unicode Converting a memo data type conversion in Export/Import data wizard.
Could you please let me know what is the reason?
I know that memo data type does not supported into the SQl Server 2005.
I am with SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition with SP2.
Please help me to understans this issue correctly?

When using AquaData or JDBC (inet tds driver), when doing an insert using SqlServer 2005, I get error "String or binary data would be truncated" when the data is actually OK. There are no triggers, etc. that would confuse the situation. It works fine in SqlServer 2000.
The scenario is as follows:
Create table:
create table test3 (
name varchar (18) ,
tbname varchar (18)
)
Create and populate table:
create table maxtable (
tablename varchar (18) not null,
[...]
)
Try to insert into test3:
insert into test3 (name, tbname)
select i.name, o.name
from dbo.sysindexes i, sysobjects o, maxtable m
where i.indid > 0 and i.indid < 255
and i.id = o.id and i.indid = 1
and o.name = lower(m.tablename)
And I get the error "String or binary data would be truncated." The values being selected for i.name and o.name have maximum length of 18. There are other rows in sysindexes and sysobjects with longer values, but they are not being selected.
The error does not occur with SQL Server Management Studio, and does not occur using SqlServer 2000.

Hi, Experts
The project is a C/S data analysis system built with .Net 2.0 in windows environment, OS: Microsoft Windows 2003 R2 standard Edition Service Pack2, Database used in this project is: Sql server 2005. As a data analysis system, we need to load large amount of data from file to database, we do it by create a dts package and then do data loading by execute "m_Package.Execute(null, variables, m_PackageEvents, null, null)".
The problem is, we fount that DTS miss some data randomly sometimes, we can't find the rule till now. for example we've data as follows in data file, all data field splited by '|'

We found that some of the data field become 'null' after the load action finished, if we load the same data again, problem disappeared, we can't 100% reproduce this issue each time, we don't know why, Anybody here can help us to solve this issue or give us some clue?

Hi,
I'm trying to learn some VB programming with the VB 2005 Express Absolute Beginner Series video tutorials (which I think is great) and have come across a problem that I can't solve.
When I follow the instructions in Lesson 9 (Databinding Data to User Interface Controls) my application will display the data from the database correctly and I can edit it (and as long as the debugger is running the data remains changed). However, the changes won't propagate back to the database. I don't get any error messages but after I edit the data, save (with the save button on the BindingNavigator toolbar), and end debugging the data in my database remains unchanged. When I use a MessageBox to show how many rows where edited/updated in the
Me.myTableTableAdapter.Update(Me.myDatabaseDataSet.myTable)
I get the correct number back. I'm sure the problem is not due to coding errors since I've also tried running the accompanying Lesson 9 project file that can be downloaded from MSDN and the problem persists.
I'm using Windows XP SP2, SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and VB 2005 Express Edition. I've tried installing SQL Server 2005 Express with a number of different settings, including default settings, but it doesn't make any difference.
Would greatly appreciate any feedback on this as I'm keen to resolve this problem so I can get on with the next tutorial lesson.
Thanks,
Ieyasu

This problem only occurs after deployment, not when debugging. In the table I am having a problem with I have an ID field designated as the primary key with the identity increment set to 1 and the identity seed set to 1. There is no data in the table when deployed. I can add records to the datagridview control but when I try updating the dataset I get this error indicating that the ID field already has a value of 1 present. If I close the application and re-start it, the exception no longer occurrs when I update the dataset. I am including the code to update the tables incase something is wrong there. Any suggestions?
Private Sub UpdateMemberTable()
Me.Validate()
Me.TblMembersBindingSource.EndEdit()
Me.TblMembersTableAdapter.Update(Me.ChurchFamilyDataSet.tblMembers)
Me.TblMemberDependentsBindingSource.EndEdit()
Me.TblMemberDependentsTableAdapter.Update(Me.ChurchFamilyDataSet.tblMemberDependents)
Me.TblMemberContributionsBindingSource.EndEdit()
Me.TblMemberContributionsTableAdapter.Update(Me.ChurchFamilyDataSet.tblMemberContributions)
End Sub

I'm really new to the whole database deal (as well as VB.net) - specifically with the capabilities surrounding VB and SQL Server 2005. My question is open to any recommendations...
What I have is an application that a user uses to create 'new' products. They are presented a form to enter the information regarding the product they wish to create. They enter the details of the product and also locate an image that represents the product, too. Currently, this application saves the product information (including binary image data) into a SQL Server 2005 Express Edition database. This application and database reside on a client pc. What I need to do is to be able save updated and newly created product data into a file of some sort. That file will make its way to a memory stick (USB) and then be transported to a 'field' machine. Quite simply, what is the best way to do this? Are there walk-throughs on this sort of thing? The target database is also SQL Server 2005. I thought I'd post this question on here to get the best design ideas... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, all experts here,
I would like to know if there is any way to migrate third-party data mining packages with SQL Server 2005 data mining algorithms together then we can have a comparison among all of them to get the best results for training models.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks a lot.
With best regards,
Yours sincerely,

Hi!
I have a task on my table, and Im not really sure how to do this in MS SQL 2005.
The customer wants to import data from an oracle db to a sql server 2005, this is easy. Then the customer want me to allow them to implement a few business models on top of this data... and allow them to run various simulations.
The data is financial, so they already have some financial business model they want to implement in MS SQL Server 2005.
Is there some sort of service in SS 2005? I was thinking about reporting and analyzis services, but I have never worked with those before... would they solve the puzzle for me? One keyword in the request was "interative simulation"... they want to be able to play with the data and to see what changes to certain constants in the model produce the best output...
When all this is done, they want to push this data back into Oracle.
To me this sounds like Data mining and business intelligence using OLAP cubes etc. Or what do you think? Is there an easy way to do this in SS 2005? Any suggestions is helpful
kind regards
Henrik

Hi
I m new to the forum and to Server 2005
I have to transfer data from large XML files to Server 2005.I need to have the value from each text node as a row.
so here is a sample XML
<?xml ......>
<A>
<B time = 1>
<C> Value = something </C>
<D> Value = something</D>
......
</B>
</A>
<A>
<B time = 2>
<C> Value = something </C>
<D> Value = something</D>
......
</B>
</A>
What i want to do is have columns in Server 2005 table named B,C and D and store each time as a row in those coloumns . i want tp store just the value not the whole XML.
I am sure this is really basic .Can some one give me some direction as to how to do this
Thanks

Dear All,
I hope someone can help me in this problem. I create the Procedure to generate the dynamic SQL statement, and execute the dynamic SQL at end of the Procedure. When I done in Server Management Studio, all thing is OK, return me the record.
But when i use it in ASP, the statement as below
Code Block
Dim objCmd
Set objCmd = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Command")
With objCmd
set .ActiveConnection = objCn
.CommandText = "MyProcedure"
.CommandType = 4
.Parameters.Append = .CreateParameter("@Par1", 200, 1, 10, Par1)
.Parameters.Append = .CreateParameter("@Par2", 200, 1, 8, Par2)
.Parameters.Append = .CreateParameter("@Par3", 200, 1, 1, Par3)
Set objRs = .Execute ()
If Not objRs.EOF Then
ID = objRs.Fields.Item (0).value
Name = objRs.Fields.Item (1).value
End If
objRs.close
End With
set ObjCmd = nothing
The Error below display, Why??
Code BlockError Type:
ADODB.Recordset (0x800A0E78)
Operation is not allowed when the object is closed.
And this is work fine in SQL 2000 before

Hi,
Just when I thought I knew SQL...
I have a stored proc that returns several resultsets to an ASP.NET application. One of these resultsets is sorted by date and I need to access the highest date (i.e. the one on the last row) and store it in a local var in the sproc for use in a separate query. How can I do this? Obviously I want the entire resultset to be returned as usual but I also don't want to execute the same query twice.
e.g.
Original sproc is:
===================================
select id from table
...
select adate from anothertable order by adate
...
select somethingelse from yetanothertable
...
===================================
This normally returns 3 resultsets accessible from ASP.NET.
However I want to get the highest "adate" from that middle query and use it later i.e:
===================================
select id from table
...
declare mydate datetime
select adate from anothertable order by adate (<--somewhere here "mydate" is set to the max date)
...
update somewhere set value = 1 where thedate = mydate
...
select somethingelse from yetanothertable
...

I am trying to export data from sql 2005 table and send it to our as/400. I am getting an erro about journaling. Is there a way to send data back to as/400 without journaling? I am using an ole db destination. I didn't see a way to use ODBC destination like I do with sources. Error I am getting is below. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How can i transfer table records in a SQL 2005 express db (housed locally) to another SQL 2005 db (live)? I'm using the stripped down, free version Management Studio Express and can't find an "import table" function. Any information or links to information is appreciated.

I have big problem now, can somebody help me?
I have a program used ASP+SQL2000 ,the connection string is :
strConnection = "Provider=SQLOLEDB;Server=BOUNwindows,1005;User ID=training;Password=training22;Database=ourtraining;"
Everything works fine, I can insert data, delete or modify.
But since we changed sql2000 server to sql 2005 express, then I can read data but can't insert data(write data into sql 2005)
I checked all permission are correct on sql 2005, program are correct, everything looks good, but only can't write data into sql2005
Can somebody help me????

Hi another sql 2005 question I hope someone has tried this
Okay I want to load data center 2003 with two nodes
Can I set up SQL 2005 and utilize all 8 processors for SQL (As a Cluster)
I know you get DB mirroring and log file shipping ,that is not what I want
We will set up a DR soloution if the above works
So basically
Windows 2003 Datacenter across two 4 64bit Server 4GB ram each
once loaded can I install SQL 2005 and utilize the processors across both platforms
Thanks

Greetings,
I am using SQL Server 2005 and I want a clue if there is some good built-in support to do the following.
I want to transfer all the data from one source database to another destination database having same number to tables and schema like source database. I also want to ensure that the old data on the destination database should be secure too.
I have an idea that this can be done through SSIS in coding but can anyone give me a guide, tip, link, sample code that can be helpful.
Thanx a million in advance.
Regards

It seems SQL Server 2005 can store data in both C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLData and C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.2MSSQLData. But what's the difference of the 2 folders? I accidentally found identical mdf files in the two folders and got confused. Thanks.

I have a PC install the SQL Server 2005 Eng Version and have a database with table.In the table , there is a datetime format column.
So, I write a SQL Insert into Table1 (startdate) values ('4-Oct-2006 10:24:29 AM'), It works, record inserted.
I have another Server (Windows Server 2003 Chinese Version with SQL Server 2005 Chinese Version). Also,have a database with table and run the same sql statment
Insert into Table1 (startdate) values ('4-Oct-2006 10:24:29 AM'). It does not work, since the error message is in chinese, so I try to translate in english.
The error says something like, "when converting the string to datetime, it fails"
And then I try to rewrite the SQL into Insert into Table1 (startdate) values ('10/4/2006 10:24:29 AM'). It works.
So I want to ask and option I can set in SQL Server 2005 to make me use different kinds of date format in the SQL.
Please Help, thanks
