Error Inserting Image Into SQL Server2000 Table From Pocket PC Application Only When Using Stored Procedure In Table Adapter Wiz

Apr 24, 2008

My Pocket PC application exports signature as an image. Everything is fine when choose Use SQL statements in TableAdapter Configuration Wizard.

main.ds.MailsSignature.Clear();

main.ds.MailsSignature.AcceptChanges();

string[] signFiles = Directory.GetFiles(Settings.signDirectory);

foreach (string signFile in signFiles)

{

mailsSignatureRow = main.ds.MailsSignature.NewMailsSignatureRow();

mailsSignatureRow.Singnature = GetImageBytes(signFile); //return byte[] array of the image.

main.ds.MailsSignature.Rows.Add(mailsSignatureRow);

}

mailsSignatureTableAdapter.Update(main.ds.MailsSignature);

But now I am getting error "General Network Error. Check your network documentation" after specifying Use existing stored procedure in TableAdpater Configuration Wizard.

ALTER PROCEDURE dbo.Insert_MailSignature( @Singnature image )

AS

SET NOCOUNT OFF;

INSERT INTO MailsSignature (Singnature) VALUES (@Singnature);

SELECT Id, Singnature FROM MailsSignature WHERE (Id = SCOPE_IDENTITY())

For testing I created a desktop application and found that the same Code, same(Use existing stored procedure in TableAdpater Configuration Wizard) and same stored procedure is working fine in inserting image into the table.

Is there any limitation in CF?

Regards,
Professor Corrie.

Regarding Stored Procedure For Selecting A Value From One Table And Inserting It To Another

Sep 19, 2007

Hi iam Prameela,
I want to select some dynamic values from a table and store them to another table.
Let me give u an example,its like:
I have UID,QID,Option1,Option2,Survey Name in one table called Survey Answers and i must select these values and insert them into Surevy Count table which contains some fields as QID,Opt1Cnt,Opt2Cnt,Survey Name. this is an online survey and when ever an user participate in the survey then values will be changed in Survey Answers like:
Surevy Answers Table:
UID   QID        Option1             Option2          Survey Name---------These are the fields
1         1             1                       0                    Articles
1          2            0                       1                    Articles
2           1            1                        0                      Articles
2           2             0                       1                       articles
I need to add all these Options of particular QID and store them in Survey Count table,like
QID          Opt1Cnt          Opt2Cnt          Survey Name
1                 2                     0                     Articles
2                  0                      2                   Articles
When ever the user participate in survey then there will be change in Survey answers table i.e the option count will be increased
So this count should be modified in Survey Count Table,like:
If another user participated in survey and if he voted for Option1 of QID1,Option1 of QID2 then the survey count table should be modified as:
QID           Opt1Cnt                Opt2Cnt             Survey Name
1                   3                         0                            Articles
2                   1                          2                             Articles
I need a Stored Procedure for this.
Please help me with this query.

Inserting Into Tables Using Stored Procedure

Dec 7, 2007

I am currently building an electricity quoting facility on my website. I am trying to insert the data which the user enters into 3 linked tables within my database. My stored procedure therefore, includes 3 inserts, and uses the @@Identity, to retrieve the primary keys from the first 2 inserts and put it as a foreign key into the other table.
When the user comes to the quoting page, they enter their contact details which goes into a client_details table, then they enter the supply details for their electric meter these get inserted into the meter table which is linked to client_details. The supply details which the users enters are used to calculate a price. The calculated price, then gets put into a quote table which is linked to the meter table. This all seems to work fine with my stored procedure.
However I want to be able to allow a user to enter more than one meter supply details and insert this into the meter table, with the same client_id for the foreign key. This will also generate another quote to insert into the quoting table. However I do not know how to get this to work.
Should I be looking at using Sessions and putting a SessionParameter on the client_id for the inserts for these additional meters??

Inserting BLOB Using Stored Procedure

Sep 14, 2007

Hi,

Can we insert a blob in the database(eg: doc, jpeg, pdf, etc) from the sqlcmd prompt. I want to insert few files into my table having varbinary(max) column and i dont want to use any front end tool for making such insertions. What i am thinking of is providing a file system path for a particular file(eg: doc, jpeg, pdf, etc) to a stored procedure so that it can be inserted into the database, something that we can do via Oracle's sqlldr tool.

Stored Procedure Can't Access Table On External Database

Mar 6, 2005

Hi

I have created a .net application using visual studio .net and sql server destop edition on my pc. I have exported the database tables and stored procedures and imported them into a Sql Server database on a web hosting service. The web host does not allow me to access this database directly through visual studio .net.

My connection string to the external database works ok and I can access my stored procedures through my web pages. I know they accept parameters and that I can receive Return Values from them. However, whenever I try to access any of the tables on the external database through a stored procedure, I get a sqlException saying that the table cannot be found (Invalid object name 'UserList').

I have created a text type command which selects data from one of the tables and this runs through without any errors. I have also managed to Insert a row onto one of the external tables also by using a text type command. My only problem seems to be with commands using stored procedures.

Just in case this is the problem - the owner of the table/procedures on my desktop is shown as dbo but on the external database the owner of the tables is shown as [domainname].co.uk_dbuser while the stored procedures owner is still dbo.

Example of stored procedure on external database:

/****** Object: Stored Procedure dbo.AddUser Script Date: 01/03/2005 21:10:06 ******/
CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.AddUser
(
@Username Varchar(20),
@Password Varchar(20)
)
AS
(
Select User_ID From UserList
Where User_Username = @Username
)
GO

Have tried changing dbo.AddUser to [domain].co.uk_dbuser.Adduser but this would not save because there were too many full-stops!

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am completely stuck.

Inserting Simultaneous Tables Using Stored Procedure

Feb 8, 2007

I am trying to insert into two tables simultaneously from a formview. I read a few posts regarding this, and that is how I've gotten this far. But VWD 2005 won't let me save the following stored procedure. The error I get says “Incorrect syntax near ‘@WIP’. Must declare the scalar variable “@ECReasonâ€? and “@WIPâ€?.â€? I'm probably doing something stupid, but hopefully someone else will be able to save me the days of frustration in finding it. Thanks, the tables and procedures are below.

I made up the two tables just for testing, they are:

Inserting A Record Using Values From Another Stored Procedure

Aug 2, 2006

Hello, I'm trying to accomplish 3 things with one stored procedure.I'm trying to search for a record in table X, use the outcome of thatsearch to insert another record in table Y and then exec another storedprocedure and use the outcome of that stored procedure to update therecord in table Y.I have this stored procedure (stA)CREATE PROCEDURE procstA (@SSNum varchar(9) = NULL)ASSET NOCOUNT ONSELECT OType, Status, SSN, FName, LNameFROM CustomersWHERE (OType = 'D') AND (Status = 'Completed') AND (SSN = @SSNum)GO.Then, I need to create a new record in another table (Y) using the SSN,FName and Lname fields from this stored procedure.After doing so, I need to run the second stored procedure (stB) Here itis:CREATE PROCEDURE procstB( @SSNum varchar(9) = NULL)ASSET NOCOUNT ON-- select the recordSELECT OrderID, OrderDate, SSNFROM OrdersGROUP BY OrderID, OrderDate, SSNHAVING (ProductType = 'VVSS') AND (MIN(SSN) = @SSNum)GO.After running this, I need to update the record I created a moment agoin table Y with the OrderDate and OrderID from the second storedprocedure.Do you guys think that it can be done within a single stored procedure?Like for example, at the end of store procedure A creating an insertstatement for the new record, and then placing something like execprocstB 'SSN value'? to run stored procedure B and then having aupdate statement to update that new record?Thanks for all your help.

Facts
The insert is done through a stored procedure.
All the sites that this program is being used are connecting through a VPN so this is not an external site.
The duplicate records are coming from multiple sites (I am capturing there IP address).
I am getting a duplicate about 3 or 4 times a day out of maybe 300 record inserts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are many sqlcmdInsert.Parameters("@item").Value =

cnTaxInTake.Open()
sqlcmdInsert.ExecuteNonQuery()
cnTaxInTake.Close()

Stored Procedure In Database X, Executes Stored Procedure In Database Y, Wrapped In Transaction?

Is it possible to execute a stored procedure in one database, which thenitself executes a stored procedure from another database? We have decide tosplit our data into a tree structure (DB1) and data blobs (DB2) (we areusing MSDE and we have a 2gb limit with each DB so we've done it this wayfor that reason). I would like to, say, execute a stored procedure in DB1,passing in the data blob and other details, DB1 will create a tree node inDB1 and then add the blob record to DB2. DB1 will wrap in a transaction ofcourse, as will DB2 when it adds the blob. Is this possible?

Inserting Information Into An SQL Database Using Stored Procedures

Dec 16, 2005

Hello,
I'm building an ecommerce website which requires customers to create an account before they go ahead with a purchase. I have a createaccount.aspx page in Visual Web Developer 2005 with text boxes where users can enter their details (email, password, name and address).  I'm trying to insert the information which users type into the text boxes into an SQL database table called Customers.
I've dragged and dropped an SQL data source onto my page and have set it to operate on my AddCustomer stored procedure. I've confirgured my data source such that the parameter for each field in the database is set to the appropriate control on the webpage (for example the Email parameter source is "textboxEmail").
I've also placed a button onto my page so that the button click event can act as the trigger for sending the information in the text boxes to the database. I wasn't totally sure how to write code for the button click event such that when the button is clicked, the INSERT stored procedure runs. At the moment I'm using:
Protected Sub btnSubmit_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnSubmit.Click
SqlDataSource1.Insert()
End Sub
When I try to run my application I'm getting an error which reads:
Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'Email', table 'C:DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGSLUKE JACKSONMY DOCUMENTSVISUAL STUDIO 2005WEBSITESJACKSONSNURSERIESAPP_DATADATABASE.MDF.dbo.Customers'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails.The statement has been terminated.
The error message implies that I haven't set the necessary parameters correctly but I really don't know where I'm going wrong!
The code I'm using for my stored procedure is as follows:
ALTER PROCEDURE AddCustomer
(
@CustomerID int,
@Email nvarchar(50),
@Password nvarchar(MAX),
@Name nvarchar(50),
@Address1 nvarchar(50),
@Address2 nvarchar(50),
@Address3 nvarchar(50),
@City nvarchar(50),
@County nvarchar(50),
@PostCode nvarchar(50)
)
AS
INSERT INTO Customers
(Email, Password, Name, Address1, Address2, Address3, City, County, PostCode)
VALUES
(@Email, @Password, @Name, @Address1, @Address2, @Address3, @City, @County, @PostCode)
I'd be really grateful if anyone could help me out with this.
Thanks in advance,
Luke

Trigger Error When Inserting Stored Proc Output Into Temp Table.

Feb 18, 2008

I writing a unit test which has one stored proc calling data from another stored proc. Each time I run dbo.ut_wbTestxxxxReturns_EntityTest I get a severe uncatchable error...most common cause is a trigger error. System Stored Procedure Call From Within My Database Stored Procedure

Mar 28, 2007

I have a stored procedure that calls a msdb stored procedure internally. I granted the login execute rights on the outer sproc but it still vomits when it tries to execute the inner. Says I don't have the privileges, which makes sense.

How can I grant permissions to a login to execute msdb.dbo.sp_update_schedule()? Or is there a way I can impersonate the sysadmin user for the call by using Execute As sysadmin some how?

Thanks in advance

Having Difficulty Inserting Into The Database Table

Feb 7, 2005

I created a web form where the user fills in some data and when he submits the form, I do an insert into he database table. The problem is, how can I get the data from the form into the insert statement?. here is the code:
Dim Message As String
Dim connStr As String
Dim myConnection As SqlConnection
Dim mySqlCommand As SqlCommand
connStr = "server=SIMIVSdotNET;Trusted_Connection=yes;database=AeroSea"
myConnection = New SqlConnection(connStr)
mySqlCommand = New SqlCommand("INSERT INTO TravelRequestEntry (CustomerID,Name) Values (1,name.text)", myConnection)

If I execute the above code, then nothing gets updated. When I change the insert staement into the following,
mySqlCommand = New SqlCommand("INSERT INTO TravelRequestEntry (CustomerID,Name) Values (1,'myname')", myConnection) then,
value 1 for customerID field and myname in the namefield is added.
I know I am doing something stupid, but can't figure it out.
I am confused. please help me.

Lock On Table While Inserting Data In Database

Jul 10, 2014

I have question on lock on table in SQL Server while inserting data using multiple processes at a single time into same table.Here are my questions on this,

1) Is it default behavior of SQL server to lock table while doing insert?
2) if yes to Q1, then how we can implicitly mention while inserting data.
3) If I have 4 tables and one table is having foreign keys from rest of the 3 tables, on this scenario do I need to use the table lock explicitly or without that I can insert records into those tables?

Blocks Hangup Database When Inserting In 1 Specific Table

Jul 20, 2005

Hi,We use a database with about 40 related tables. Some tables contain asmuch as 30.000 records. We use Access97 as an interface to thedatabase. Now recently we have the problem that when we want to inserta row in one specific table (alwasy the same) the database makesblocks.Details:- about 10% of the data was inserted using copying from Excel, beforethis action there was no problem, though there is no evidence thatthis causes the problem.- inserting rows via the Query Analyzer works fine, via Access causestrouble.- the tempdb lofile has grown to 48Mb.Has anyone ideas about what is going on and what I can do to solve theproblem?TAV,Jan Willems
