isn't it in a config file somewhere, i can't find it?
do i have to reinstall?

Sep 22, 2006My first installation of SQL 2005 requires the use of Reporting Services. Is Reporting Services always installed on the same server as SQL Server 2005 or do I have the option of having it run outside of the database server? If I have this option, is this something that Microsoft recommends? I'm concerned with having IIS and SQL Server on the same server, however if that's the new 2005 best practice then there's not much I can do about it.

Migrate From 32bit 2000 Reporting Services To 2005 64bit Reporting Services

I am trying to migrate my reports from SQL server 2000 reporting services 32bit to 2005 64bit. I am following the migration steps that MS specified.
Restored my Reportserver and ReportserverTempDB databases
Then I was using the configure Report services to upgrade these databases but I always end up getting the follwoing exception when I run the upgrade on the "Database Setup" configuration for 'ReportServerTempDB' database

It's driving me crazy, why is it looking for 'ReportServerTempDBTempDB' in the catalog instead of 'ReportServerTempDB'?
Is it possible to migrate from 32bit to 64bit?

Compatibility Of SQL Express Reporting Services With SQL 2000 Reporting Services
Dec 6, 2006I'm attempting to obtain a cost effective solution for my existing customers to develop reports on their SQL 2000 Server installations using their Reporting Services 2000. With products like Visual Basic.NET 2003 becoming almost impossible to obtain, I have at least one customer who is running into a dead end.
One option possibly is the SQL Express with Advanced Services download, which has Reporting Services. My questions are as follows:
Can the report designer component of SQL Express Reporting Services be configured to connect to an external database (which would happen to be a SQL 2000 database) to establish its datasets?
Does the resultant designed report end up in an RDL file? If the customer published this report via the Reporting Services 2000 Report Manager, would the report be able to run?
Sorry for asking a question like this that I could probably answer on my own, but my customer needed this answer yesterday. I have scoured the web and microsoft sites - and posted a question on the official SQL Reporting Services cateogy ... in an attempt to answer the basic question of how to design reports for Reporting Services 2000 in the absence of Visual Basic.NET 2003 (or other .NET 2003 tools) with no success.

Sep 21, 2015I just moved our SSRS server from one machine to another. It was sending our report emails from a service account. So when my end users get the emailed report it was from a service account (reports@blah.com) .
Now that I moved the DB to another server - the reports get emailed successfully - but they are being sent from my email address!
I have checked the rsreportserver config file. I also checked in the report server smtp setup and they both show the service account. I even checked the subscription owners and accounts.
SSRS is using my account, but I can't find where it's getting it from. Where else can I look?
Reporting Services :: Expression To Take A Result And Change Name
Jun 3, 2015Is there a way of taking a result from a query and pulling out a certain account number and displaying those account numbers - as fred? Eg. I have a drop down of account number (s) however they pull from a table that only displays them as account numbers. I would like to give more a description to certain account numbers that are pulled. Eg. account number 234 will be fred and account number 555 will be sam etc. Trying to add it to the query on the dataset is complicated, so I was wondering if I created an additional blank field with an expression to be able to do this?

Oct 21, 2015I have built an SSRS report and fetching my data from an ERP system, previously we have done the same way and the reports are working fine, but only one report which is also working fine but when the values displayed in Preview or Excel, we cannot see values in Excel, when we click on the cell we can see the values in formula bar, but not in the cell. When we select the cell and change the color it will then display the values. In this report many of the values are displayed correctly, but some are not displayed, so every time we need to change the color of entire report. This is causing issues to the end users.

I have been tasked with creating a report using Reporting Services from an excel report that was wasting a lot of manual effort and time. I have searched boards and I am having the hardest time trying to find a way to do the following in Reporting Services within a Matrix:

I can not find out how to do a percent change (the column in red) subtracting just the final or most right two columns of the resulting matrix columns, not an average or some other function over the entire row....

May 29, 2008I am fairly new to reporting services and recently created a simple tabular report. There is one table which queries the database and I would like to change the table so there are more than 25 rows of data per page. How do I do this? Also it would be advantageous to know how to set the report to only create a new page for every different item in a column. E.g., if I have various data for each date, I would like to only create a new page when the date changes so that all data for a specific date is on one page etc etc.

The scale on the right side is the finished good which has a min qty of 383 while the highest is 52439. how can i set this scale that start from 0 to 300 and soon. right now under scale properties I set the max to 60000, the min is set to auto while in the interval properties i set this to 10000. How this line marker adjust the scale quantity (fisnished good).

Apr 22, 2015In an existing SSRS 2012 report, I have a requirement for a user to be able to select by multiple school(s) and/or multiple grade(s). This is fine except certain schools like elementary have grade levels of KG to 06, Middle school has grades of 06 to 09 and high school has grades of 10 to 12. Thus for example, if a user has initially selected grades 11 and 12 and then they select an elementary school that has grades KG through 06, the 'grade level' selection would need to change.In other words, I am thinking of initially having the available and default values for the parameter called 'Grade' set to KG through 12. However if a school is selected that only has specific grade levels like elementary school, how can I override the original grade level and only allow the user to select grades that the particular school contains?

I'm trying to create reports in RS2005 using AS2000 as my data source. I understand that if I use RS2005 on AS2000, I wont be able to enjoy the OLAP based parameters as in using AS2005. Does anyone know an easy way to easily use Parameters in RS2005 while still using AS2000?

I want to change the background color to yellow if the value is less than the previous month. For example for the sales row, February sales is less than January and March sales is less than February so I would want the values (800 and 750) to have a background color of yellow. The columns is grouped by month.I've tried experimenting with the Previous function but I run into the following error message: The BackgroundColor expression for the text box has a scope parameter that is not valid for an aggregate function. The scope parameter must be set to a string constant that is equal to either the name of a containing group, the name of a containing data region, or the name of a dataset.

i have a small problem with the data sources in the reporting services, maybe you can clarify the situation... I have a MS CRM 3 solution with the reporting services 2005 installed. From an other vendor we have a arcplan solution on the 2000 analysis services. I would like to get access from the 2005 reporting services to the 2000 cube. Is this possible? Ive read that the SSMS cant connect to the 2000 cubes. Can i connect from the reporting services??

Dynamically Change Initial Catalog In Shared Data Source In Reporting Services?
Oct 30, 2007First off, let me just say that I'm a complete newbie to SQL Reporting Services, and .NET in general. We have a VB 6 application that is trying to launch an SRS 2005 report in a viewer window. This was accomplished by creating A VB.NET "wrapper" window that launches the report, and allows the report to be previewed, exported, etc. I did not write any of this.
The report is using a Shared Data Source, which points to a specific database. My problem is that the users can select which db they want when they launch the VB 6 Application, so I need to find a way to edit the connection string in the report to specify which database to use on the fly. I have the db name in the "wrapper" application, but I can't figure out how to pass it to the report.

Jun 11, 2010I have two charts which are based on their own separate datasets. One chart shows data aggregated by MONTH, the other chart shows data aggregated by WEEK. I have put both of these charts inside a rectangle and set their visibility based on whether or not there is data returned by their respective datasets. This part is working just fine.
However, I have added a tablix to the report, deleted all columns and rows leaving only one remaining row/column so it looks like a textbox. This tablix is sitting on top of the two charts. The problem i'm having is that when both charts return no data and they do not show up in the report, the tablix still remains visible. I need to set the visibility but based on a condition between the two different datasets behind each chart.
Here's what I need: If ONE of the charts returns data, then I need the tablix to be visible. If neither chart returns data, then I need the tablix to be invisible. I'm trying to write an IIF statement comparing the two datasets but I get inscope errors. Isn't it possible to compare values which are contained in two separate datasets in SSRS?
Seems like something like the following logic should work:
IIF(CountRows("Monthly_DataSet") > 0 OR CountRows("Weekly_DataSet") > 0 , FALSE, TRUE)
Obviously the above expression will return syntax errors, but you'll get the point as to how i'm thinking. How can I set the visibility of the tablix based on these two charts?

Dec 14, 2000How do I move the tempdb to a different drive? It can't be dropped and it is automatically put on the same drive as the master during installation. I have moved a transaction log to a different drive, but I can't change the tempdb location. Please help.
