But I get this error :

Install 64bit SSRS On An Existing 64bit SQL Server Installation
Oct 2, 2007We have a 64bit installation of SQL Server (SSIS, SSAS) running and working fine. There is a requirement to install 64bit SSRS on this existing setup.
The problem is: While running the SQL Server Setup wizard, the Reporting Services checkbox remains greyed out. In other words, there isnt an option to select SSRS for installation.
So the question is: Is it even possible to install 64bit SSRS on an existing 64bit SQL server installation - given that SSRS wasnt installed during the first pass.
PS: The SQL Server is SP2 on a Windows Server 2003 configured as an App Server.

Nov 7, 2000I need to add syntax to a stored procedure to check for the existence of a specific indexes on a table before dropping it. If they do not exist I need it to NOT through an error message. Performing this on a table is relatively simple:

Since indexes are not represented in sysobjects how can I do this?

So we run the "SQL Server Installation Center" from our server.At the step "Setup Support Rules", we received this error:

Before allowing my Data Flow task to fire, I'd like to check the target table (OLE DB Destination) for a specific date value in a specific field. I've seen how the Lookup Task is commonly used to check for dupes before inserting, but I'm not able to use that method because the data value I want to search the table for is contained in a Global Variable (let's say "MyVariableDate").
Is there any way to check for any records in a target table where Date1 = MyVariableDate (i.e. scanning the entire table for any occurrence of MyVariableDate in the Date1 field)?

I'm also noticing nothing intuitive for deleting an existing dataset. How do you do these two very simple things in an existing project? I dont see the dataset in solution explorer, I see it only in the text box on the data tab and in a limited kind of way on the dataset view where the columns show and maint is allowed mostly on the columns only. I tried hilighting the dataset here and hitting the delete key to no avail.

I can do closing from Management Studio using checkbox "Close Existing Connection" when deleting database. Actually I need to do the same but from script.

I'd like to install SQL SERVER 2005 Express Edition ,I begin to install it from DVD but during the installation it dosn't ask me about any instance and after installation there isn't SQLExpress service and I can't use sql server .(there are not MSSQL and Binn directory in sql server 2005) but when I install visual studio 2005 and after that I install sql server 2005 it ask me for name of instance and with this way every thing is ok and I use sql server completely.

Dec 13, 2007My web project (ASP.NET 2.0 / C#) runs against sql server 2000 and uses the System.Data.SqlClient.using System.Data.SqlClient;
I use System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection and System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand to make the connections to the database and do selects and updates. Is it correct to continue to use these against SQL Server 2005? I ask because I made a connection string (outside of .Net) for SqlServer 2005 using the SQL native provider and it had the following - Provider=SQLNCLI.1 and any connection strings I had made (also outside of ASP.NET) fro SQL Server all used Provider=SQLOLEDB.1. This is why I wondered if there is a different SqlClient in .Net 2.0 for SQL Server 2005?

I was using SQL SERVER 2000 ... In one table I've created FULL TEXT SEARCHING ( Full text catalog along with full text indexing)
Now we had to install our db in SQL SERVER 2005 standard edition. But while taking script it gave me two lines like:

Plan to make a full backup of another sql server database to another server. I've read about detach and attach
and copying the datafiles and log files but some say it is prone to data loss? Is this true?
And another thing, what if the existing sql server can't affor downtime for me to copy db files etc.?
Anybody here who have done the same?
Any help is very much appreciated.

Dec 20, 2007Please can anybody help me in transferring existing SSIS Packages saved in a shared folder location from development server 2ED to Live server TWD1.
Both has SQL server 2005 running and has visual studio 2005
Currently about 25 SSIS packages are executed from the development server transferring data on Live server TWD1...these ETL process is called from development server but executed on live server.
Now the problem is when i call these packages from the shared folder from live server it crashes.....i need to changes something to shift the whole package to the live server..and execute on live server itself instead of recreating the whole 25 process from scratch.....also i use optimize for many tables ..and run in a single trancastion....so how can i see the mappings of source and destination tables.
Please let me know the process how i can achieve this.

I want to protect the database structure such as my tables, code, etc. This restriction should include all the Administrators of the Computers on which my application will be deployed. Any modification of my database or code should be implemented only by me.
What is the best way to do this using (a) Windows Authentication Login? (b) SQL Server Login? How do I configure the User-Login?
NEW: In addition to above question, how best do I achieve this protection if installing the DB with other databases in an already existing server, is it possible to remove the Builtin Admin from the server role?? As in my case, there is no need for anyone else to open the DB in Management Studio at all as my VB application does all that is required.

Jul 23, 2005Please help,I am trying to install MSDE 2000 so that Backup exec will run on thisserver. I have gotten so far as to find an entry in my SQLSTP.TXT filethat says that c:mssql7 was detected so the install fails.Now, to start with there is no directory called C:mssql7 on thisserver. I have gone through all MS articles on manual removal of SQLserver and instances. Oct 19, 2006Hi I am running my sql 2000 database server and I just want to copy that database and paste or put on another server which has also run same version of sql 2000 database. I tried to copy and paste the ldf & mdf extensioned files which are located in "C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQLData" into my 2 server, but when I open up the enterprise manager, I cant see the new database. So this way dont work, I tried to do something with export and import wizard but it just creates another database and copies the data in that database in the same server. I want to copy that data and put onto another system, please guide me. I'm confused, Thanks a lot

SQL Server 2k And VWD - Cant Edit Existing Db Values
Mar 14, 2006I have SQL 2000 server machine on our network.
I can connect to our existing SQL database and display data from tables etc, but when I try and edit the data using the detailsView it wont let me. No error msg, it just does not update the field.
However if I create a new record using the detailsView, I can edit it.
Its just older records that were created previously that it wont let me edit.
Is this a bug?, A compatibility issue?, Any Ideas?

Copying An Existing Database To A New Server?
Nov 8, 2000I would like to create a test environment on a separate server running advanced server 2000. The current production server is NT4.0. What is the easiest way to copy the databases from production to test. I installed SQL7.0 on the new box then created the backup devices. Next I copied the backup files for all of the databases including master etc. to the new backup device folders. I tried to restore the master db first - then things went down hill. Any recommended procedures regarding this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mar 6, 2004I have a 2 part question about adding a new 'named' Virtual Server to an existing Clustered SQL Server 2000 install.
I have a 2 node MSCS Cluster (WIN2K advanced Server sp4) with a default SQL Server instance. This has been in production and working fine. I created a new Cluster resource and reran SQL Server 2000 ENT setup and added a second Virtual SQL Server (named instance). After many problems, finally got the second Server installed. Now I have 2 SQL Server instances in the Cluster - from what I understand, you can have up to 16, each seperate installs with seperate Cluster resources.
Thus the problem:
For the Second Instance, I have specific instructions from the Applications vendor on how to install SQL Server to work with their APP. I need install SQL Server WITHOUT the Full Text Search component and WITH a specific Server Collation (Binary order for use with the 850 Multilingual character set). (I have done this same setup on standalone SQL Server installations for this APP and they have gone smooth).
When I installed the new Virtual 'named' instance in my Cluster, I Could NOT 'DESELECT' Full Text Search when I choose Custom install.. it does not appear as an option???
Also, I chose the "Binary order for use with the 850 Multilingual character set" during the installation, but that is not the Server Collation that is installed...
I have already installed SP3 for SQL Server against the Virtual Server on this Cluster, as well as a HotFix... and Now I'm thinking I need to rerun the SQL Server installation, uninstall the second server and reinstall to see if I can fix the 'Collation problem' .. but I'm not sure if this is the right course of action.
Does anyone know why I cannot 'deselect' Full text search component at install, and any ideas why it did not install with the SQL Server Collation that I specified at install????

When I had to insert/update records in the database, I always used "insert on existingupdate", in this way, you didn't have to check whether a recordalready existed (avoid errors) and you were always sure that afterrunning the scripts, the last version was in the database.Now I'm looking for the same functionality in MS SQL Server, asked afew people, but nobody knows about such an option.Does anybody here knows the SQL Server counterpart of "insert onexisting skip/update"?
