I'm going through a set of MS e-learning classes and am confused about where the processing occurs. In general, I thought that all the processing occurred on the Server once the client made a request. This e-learning confuses me as it says that the processing is spread out between the client and the server. What is the correct answer?
I am trying to execute an SSIS package from a client that contains an Analysis Services Processing Task in the package. The client that does not have SSIS and SSAS installed. We are getting an error
The task "Analysis Services Processing Task" cannot run on this edition of Integration Services. It requires a higher level edition. The same package runs from a server that has both SSIS and SSAS installed. Let me know if someone has come across the same problem.
On Windows XP systems I get the following issue when trying to browse the MSDB folder in SSIS
Client unable to establish connection Encryption not supported on SQL Server. (Microsoft SQL Native Client)
I have noticed another post where several others have noticed the same issue. It appears to only occur on Windows XP installations. Is there a workaround or fix for this?
I'm working on a system right now where I have a database (two, actually, but one is discarded halfway through), but it's createdand used as part of a process (reporting), rather than as theactual production data repository. I may be keeping the databasepermanantly, but it would be completely read-only; once theprocess is complete, the database will not change again. This hasme wanting to do a few things that are rather foreign to my usualexperience, and I don't know how many of them are supported. In several cases, I'm summarizing one table into another by severalfields, and then updating the original table with an ID for thesummary row each source row was summarized into (e.g., I summarizePlaceAndProductSummary into PlaceSummary, and then populatePlaceSummaryID in PlaceAndProductSummary). The update of thesource table is much faster if the summary table has a clusteredindex on the summarized fields, but all later access will be fasterif the clustered index is on the identity column. I've beenincluding an ORDER BY the summarized fields in the original insert,so the identity column is in the same order as the summarized fields, but I don't know of any way to take advantage of that in theindexing declarations. As another approach to the above situation, if I change theclustered index on a table, and the rows happen to be in thesame order by both indexes, will the table still get rebuilt?I will never do a roll-back in the process; if an action fails, Iwant to raise an error and halt (and I haven't lost any data). Is there any way to completely turn off logging? Will I gain anything by marking the database as single-user?Any indexes that I am not using while I populate the tables, I'madding at the end with FillFactor 100, to keep any slack out.Is there a way to remove all the slack from everything else, atthe end of the process? During a backup operation would be fine. Thanks,Bill
Product: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 -- Error 29515. SQL Server Setup could not connect to the database service for server configuration. The error was: [Microsoft][SQL Native Client]Encryption not supported on the client. Refer to server error logs and setup logs for more information. For details on how to view setup logs, see "How to View Setup Log Files" in SQL Server Books Online.
I have written data handling routines that use transaction processing to ensure no records are written needlesly if errors occur later. I have had no problems writing the code and handling the rollbacks and commits. My problem occurs when the code crashes without falling into my exception handling routines. Null pointer errors and the like. I am using OLEDB interface to handle my data access as i need the web app to instantly swap between sql databases without re-writing code depending on what database my customers want to use i.e. MSSQL or Oracle (No Problems here using OLDDB and ASNI 92 SQL statements). What i think is happenening is that when it crashes MSSQL is still holding the transaction but because it crashes i can niether get a commit or a rollback command on the transaction so when i run the code again and create a new transaction it returns time out on on the first insert statement? Could anyone give me any pointers here please? As I can no longer insert any records using transactions.
I have SQL2000 installed as the default instance, and now I'm trying to install SQL 2005 standard edition as a named instance.
I receive this error : SQL Server could not connect to database service for server configuration.. [SQL Native client] Encryption not supported on the client. However I'm able to install client tools
The setup works fine on other box with the same config : SQL 2000/Windows XP, is there any work around for this issue ?
In my SQL 2000 client network utilty "Force proctocol encryption " is desabled and did not find the setting for SQL 2005 !
I have a scenario where one partner can have multiple competency like Grade A,Grade B or Grade C and Grade AB,Grade BC etc.
I need to pull the records of competency of higher level also there is a chance of changing this competency level in feature like Grade A of Grade AA like this.
What would be the best option to select this kind of records.
I create a main program which will launch two jobs at a time, each job does some processes and at the end I'm trying to delete those jobs after storing the job details in one of the custom table I created (cleanup sub-program).
Out of two jobs I am able to store one job details (like job_name,job_id,start_time and end_time of the job) in the custom table and able to delete that job, but the job that's getting completed at the end is not getting captured nor getting deleted from sysjobs and sysjobhistory tables.
I had included this step (which will call the cleanup sub-program to store the job details and delete it) at the end. I can see that this cleanup procedure getting called from debug message but it is neither storing details nor deleting the job.
When I execute this cleanup program separately, it does store the job details and delete it.
When I highlight a few partitions and start processing, the process occasionally stops with a message that operation has been canceled, like this:
Response 3 Server: the operation has been cancelled. Response 4
Server: the operation has been cancelled.
Response 5 Server: the operation has been cancelled.
..etc...
(no further error message details are provided) SQL profiler shows that batch was completed (but rowcount shown in process progress log is too small).
Analysis Services profiler shows no messages at that time at all. It just shows messages when it started, and when I restarted the processing.
The Analysis trace appears to be stopped when processing stops with "Server: the operation has been cancelled."This is an occasional error and sometime occurs within 15-20 minutes from starting to process. It could fail on 1st partition in the process list , or on some partition in the middle. Some partitions might run for a few hours and not error out, but sometimes it fails quickly.I was not sure if this is an issue with the underlying fact data, so I broke up the last partition where it failed into 5 smaller partitions, they processed OK separately.I think restarting SQL Server and SSAS helps to process a few more partitions. Some that failed with this problem process OK after restart, but some fail again. (apologies for re-posting, wanted to put under more specific thread title)
Hello,Is it necessary to upgrade the Client Connectivity Tools on all clientmachines after the SQL Server database server is upgraded from Version7.0 to 2000?Thank you in advance!Eddy
I have an XML file about 25MB. When I read it with openrowset it gives me 'System.OutOfMemoryException'. The machine I'm running has 16GB of RAM and memory is definetely not exceeded. When I run smaller XML files it works fine.
I've read that older versions of SQL Server had this problem and it was caused by the parser having limited amount of memory. Is this still the case? Is there a way to change this?
I developed nice reports using custom data processing extensions. When I deployed the reports on my report server (I am using the express edition of SQL Server 2005) I was surprised to see that my reports were not rendering successfully.
After searching the web, I found this page listing the supported/unsupported features of SQL Server 2005 Express Edition: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms365166.aspx
On this page it clearly says €œThe Reporting Services API extensible platform for delivery, data processing, rendering, and security is not supported.€?
Is there a way to get my reports to work on the express edition?
If not, which minimal version of SQL Server should a buy to get it to work (workgroup, standard or enterprise)?
Can I process a cube without error if there is an application that writes data into the source SQL Server database? Do I have to stop that application every time when I want to process the cube?
I'm running a resource-intensive stored procedure, which reads a filewith about 50,000 lines with a BULK INSERT into a temp table, thengoes through it and inserts a record for each line into another table. While this procedure is running, SQL server stops accepting any otherrequests coming from the website.Question:Is there a way to make SQL server "listen", or emulate an "interrupt"to other requests while in the middle of a long intensive process?I really appreciate your replies.Thank you,Oleg.
I have an SSAS 2005 database "A" and SSIS package "P" which process full "A" olap database. SSAS SERVER connection string is based on a variable read from XML configuration file.
It works well in BIDS, but when i deployed, the package failed at the step connecting SSAS, the message is "a connection cannot be made, please ensure the server is running"
In the connnecting string, i am using server name like servera.xx.com, if I change it to IP address, it works. if I change it to Localhost(happens to be on the same server), it works.
But I need the server name solution as IP may be changed.
I have tried this on several different operating systems (VISTA and XP ) and several versions of SQL NATIVE CLIENT including 2005.90.3042.0
I have a 64 bit "SQL NATIVE CLIENT" connection that fails. The exact same connection and code succeeds on 32 bit. My customer and I prepend "oledb:" to the connection string and it starts working.
FAILS on 64 bit: Provider=SQLNCLI.1;Integrated Security=SSPI;Persist Security Info=False;Initial Catalog=Wrigley_Test;Data Source=MONGO;Use Procedure for Prepare=1;Auto Translate=True;Packet Size=4096;Workstation ID=RIPTIDE;Use Encryption for Data=False;Tag with column collation when possible=False;MARS Connection=False;DataTypeCompatibility=0;Trust Server Certificate=False
WORKS oledb:Provider=SQLNCLI.1;Integrated Security=SSPI;Persist Security Info=False;Initial Catalog=Wrigley_Test;Data Source=MONGO;Use Procedure for Prepare=1;Auto Translate=True;Packet Size=4096;Workstation ID=RIPTIDE;Use Encryption for Data=False;Tag with column collation when possible=False;MARS Connection=False;DataTypeCompatibility=0;Trust Server Certificate=False
I debugged my code to the point that I know it is happening when I call CreateAccessor for my SQL statement.
we have our cubes in Server A and SQL DB resides on Server B (we are on SQL 2014), from last couple of days are cube started failing due to below error:
OLE DB or ODBC error: Protocol error in TDS stream; HY000; Protocol error in TDS stream; HY000; Protocol error in TDS stream; HY000; Communication link failure; 08S01; TCP Provider: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. ; 08S01
I have been going through some blogs to understand the error but don't find any specific yet.
I am having a question as stated in the subject title, yes, when we want to deploy scorecards to reporting services, as the prerequisite, how can we install and register the scorecard custom data processing extension with the Microsoft reporting services server?
I am looking forward to hearing from you shortly and thank you again.
Windows 2003 Server and all client PCs are all on the same network. I installed SQL 2005 std version on windows server 2003 and created a database and tables in it.
I have two users, who want to connect to SQL server 2005 from their PCs (they have windows XP):
These are two things that I need to facilitate:
1) They want to be able to write queries using Query Designer and run from their PCs.
2) I created an MS Access database on my PC, I want to use Access database as a front end to the SQL server database. I will create queries, forms in Access DB, and I want to be able to get the data from SQL server Database to do this. I guess I can use ODBC to connect to tables in SQL server database.
3) I want to connect SQL server to Oracle database, and run oracle stored procedures. I want to load the results of oracle stored procedures into SQL server database tables. I guess I will use IIS for this.
Any suggestions are appreciated, especially with item number 1.
I am trying to install SQL Server Express - (the non ADV version) and get the following error.
"An installation package for the product Microsoft SQL Server Native Client cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package 'sqlncli_x64.msi'".
I have 64 bit Vista Ultimate running on an HP dv9000.
I am using the download from the bottom of the download page for SSX where it says 64 bit version.
Prior to this I got the. "64-bit ASP.net is registered. Required 32-bit ASP.NET to install Microsoft Reporting services 2005(32-bit)." messagd during the pre-install scan. From what I gather in the posts, the reporting issue is different from my installation package problem.
I have been trying to prove a point to friends about how far you can go with SSX but am having no luck installing it. This whole process took 1 hour in XP but I've been stymied for 2 days.
I would appreciate being pointed at the right downloads for what seems to be a simple install.
I need to connect to a SQL server thats running in say abc.trident.com and also sits in a shared environment..
I have couple of questions
1) That SQL server is accessible from my network, yet when I swtich on my enterprise manager I am unable to view that in the list of running SQL servers in the populated list.
Is it because its sitting in a shared environment I am unable to view that?
2) What is the connection striing I should use to connect to the server..When I try to configure a SQL server registrations it normally asks for SQL Server name along with the user authentication
Should I mention fill the Server: field as
abc.trident.com
or
// abc.trident.com/abc.trident.com
to connect to the clustered server.
Can some one tell me the proper connection string if both aforementioned ones are incorrect?
I have installed SQL server 2005 enterprise edition on Windows 2003 virtual PC (full installation). The installation went through successfully. However, after install completed, I cannot find any of the client tools under the start menu -> all programs -> Microsoft SQL server 2005 menu. The only item listed under the SQL server 2005 is Configuration Tools, which is used to configure the database server.
I have tried to install the client component again (in case I didn't install them at the first place) but the installation process cannot be started since it detected that the client components have been installed already. I can also see the sql server native client running in the services.
The server engine is working fine since I can connect to that sql server using another machine where I have the client tool (SQL server management studio).
One of my friends has exactly the same problem. He installed the sql server 2005 Standard edition on windows 2003 server (full installation), but the client tools are not showing up in the start menu either.
I also checked the location for the SQL server management studio (Microsoft SQL server/90/Tools/Binn/VSShell/Common7/IDE), there is only one folder called publicAssemblies listed under. Is this correct or something is missing?
Hello,This is hopefully just a quick question. I'm looking to re-jig our in-house development infrastructure and part of that will be some sort of SQL Server product, and I'm hoping it will be the Developer edition. My question is, how many copies of the Developer edition would I need to purchase, if I have one Windows 2003 server (which will server the databases) and two client machines which will use it.My initial thought is 2 copies, one for each user (as the license states). But what about the server? Do I just install one of the two copies onto the server and the license covers the two client connections? This might seem a silly question with an obvious answer to you guys. However, am I right? I just need to get this clear in my head. Thanks in advance..
What is the ideal method that I can build client/server application by using IIS when I make my programme by using VB2005.net and SQL Server 2005 as database
Does SQL Server have a client tool similiar to Oracle's SQL Plus? If so, how do I set that up?
I have installed a desktop edition on my server, and I want to use some client to connect so that I can run queries from another machine. Am I set up correctly, or do I need to install the Enterprise edition on the server to do something like that.
I was thinking of writing a web-based client, but I can't seem to find the time. Plus, I wouldn't want to do that if a solution already exists.
Hi, A quick Q for all the Sql Server 2000 beta testers out there. Does anyone know of any problems associated with using SS2000 Enterprise Manager with a SS7 backend running SP2? In particular, I'm keen to try out the Tsql debugger features, if they'll work with SS7.
Many thanks in advance, Jon Reade, Sql Server 7 DBA NEC Technologies (UK) Ltd Telford, Shropshire.
I recently had configured my Web Server based on Windows 2003 Server and IIS 5x. I'd also installed SQL Server 2005 into this. Now I want toc onfigure this SQL Server, so that my client can access their database through a DNS name. I request you all for your kind support in this regard. Thanks in advance.
